This is our favorite baker in the area... the sourdough bread is just amazing. We recommend only slicing bread off the roll when you want it (retains moisture). Try toasting it and then spreading butter and Vegemite for an amazing experience!

Palm Beach’s Spikexx Espresso is proof that injecting a whole swag of love and creativity into a tiring old surf shop can return the magic and energy to a long neglected piece of the area’s history. With theming and tunes inspired by the legendary Jimi Hendrix, you’ll love the original hardwood floors, retro couches, stained glass windows, Bromley artwork, dusty library of books and smiley staff. Once you’re done lusting over the décor, place an order for smooth Fonzie Abbott coffee, and casual brekkie eats like acai bowls, jaffles and smashed avo on sourdough.

THE VERDICT New on the scene in late 2016, 8th Ave. Terrace is an intimate contemporary restaurant and neighbourhood bar located in laidback Palm Beach. Spread across two floors, the lower open-air terrace level is a breezy bar where you’ll find bartenders with great banter and happy drinkers exploring the vast wine and cocktail menu. But if it’s dinner you’re after, venture further upstairs for a cosy table and friendly waitstaff that will help you navigate the impressive food menu with the likes of beef carpaccio, citrus-cured salmon, marinated eggplant “loussaka”, gourmet fish and chips, and slow-rendered duck breast. This is hands down one of the best new restaurants on the Gold Coast!

Parks & Nature

There’s plenty of character to be had in one of the Gold Coast’s most laid-back beach destinations and home to Kirra Surf which surfies consider the one-stop shop for surf gear. This is not a place for glitz and glamour, you’ll still find plenty of weatherboard beach shacks here among the burgeoning apartment scene. There’s also a cute café scene emerging here but for a true taste of Kirra, head to the iconic Kirra Beach Hotel which has been trading for more than 50 years. There’s even accommodation upstairs in this pub offering views of the ocean and the Gold Coast foreshore. There may be variations on what Kirra means, but like a boomerang, you’ll just keep coming back.
