Parks & Nature

The white sand is lovely and hard making for an easy stroll. Very popular with runners and dog-walkers particularly at sunrise. While walking look out for the unexpected, during my years of walking there I have seen whales, dolphins and seals. Well worth the 15 minutes drive.

A perfect place for walking, bird watching, sailing and fishing and only 5minutes by car. There is a small entry fee. But get there early in summer as it gets hot and offers no shade. Wear hats and sunscreen.

Visit for the day or Sleep with the lions. The park provides lifetime care to captive born lions and is involved in the re-homing of lions in distress, both locally and overseas. A once in a lifetime experience...overnight in a tented camp surrounded by lions! Enjoy traditional South African cuisine. Situated only 30 minutes from Cape Town. Gets very hot, wear a hat and lots of sunscreen. And be sure to visit the Chimp Haven next door...all rescued from captivity.

Food Scene

* Google maps shows the Big Bay one, but I mean the one at Table View Beachfront just 5 minutes away* Good food with great views across to Robben Island. I love their Gluten Free Pizza and Pasta.

Sightseeing

Iconic and not to be missed, this historic site has been everything from a leper colony to the prison that held Nelson Mandela for 27 years. Only accessible by ferry from the V&A Waterfront and can be rather pricey. Get there early as trips are limited.

Essentials

The centre has a pharmacy, book store, hairdresser and lots more, besides the grocery store. My choice when shopping as there is a Montagu Dried Fruit store that has my favourites, dried mango and caramel popcorn. Also there is free and plentiful parking.

Entertainment & Activities

Besides offering all the usual groceries, clothes, books, etc. I go for the movies, I find the seats comfortable and the sound not deafening. Just about 5 minutes drive away.

Arts & Culture

20km out of Table View in the City centre. Not the greatest or grandest in the world, but still keeps me going back. I love its setting in The Cape Town Gardens. Make a day of it...walk through the gardens, visit the fish pond, admire the small song birds and you can even buy peanuts from vendors to feed the squirrels, but more likely than not the flocks of doves will be the ones you end up feeding. You can even eat at the little gardens restaurant. Lots of lovely tall trees and park benches so even in the heat of summer you can enjoy the space.
