We love going for walk here/run. Great place to grass slide down the hill. Just bring a cardboard box (only if the grass is nice and dry). Lots of fun! A nice park to enjoy a walk in.

Bring a bike, we have an iway located 5min away from our house which travels onto marine parade to Westshore.

Customs and culture
Marine Parade Beach
DO NOT SWIM on marine parade beach. It has a very deep drop off area and is really unsafe to swim, locals know this however tourist and visitors does not, people do sadly die out there. A good beach to swim at is Ahuriri beach or you can drive to Waipatiki beach, Ocean beach or Waimarama.
Our beaches in New Zealand is also usually not topless friendly, please dress appropriately at the beach, families are around and it's a non kiwi cultural thing to do usually.
Travelling with kids
Visit Magnet café
We love going to magnet café it's a little box unit located on marine parade down by the port, it's great for kids as they can wonder on the stones enjoy a ice block or fluffy while adults can relax. If your lucky you might spot a seal or orca on a good day!
