Food scene
Puerto Vallarta is a foodie’s heaven, from globally inspired fine dining, to cheap local treasures, from beachfront to mountaintop and everything in between. Puerto Vallarta’s food scene is sure to delight any palate. I’ve included some of my favorite restaurants that I’ve personally enjoyed, as well as many highly recommended ones that I am planning on visiting.
My favourite tacos in Puerto Vallarta. Open only for dinner, Monday to Saturday, Pancho’s is a no-frills Taco experience that will surely leave you craving more. My favourite dish is the Tacos Al Pastor, which is their specialty, with a bottomless glass of Jamaica (iced sweet hibiscus tea). Arrive early (6pm) to avoid the long lines that form every night! Pancho’s also serves giant and delicious margaritas.

Julio’s Churros are some of the most authentic and delicious in PV. They are made by hand in front of you by Julio and his wife, every evening at their churro stand. Their churros make a great addition to an evening stroll on the Malecon!

One of my favorite spots for fish tacos. Reliably fresh and delicious!
This beautiful, upscale restaurant is located in Elizabeth Taylor’s former home, serving elegant dinners all year round. During high season it offers a fantastic Sunday brunch buffet, complete with a complementary cocktail and beautiful views of PV. (Reservations required)
