Spa

13. The Nordic Spa in Kananaskis is fantastic for those that have never done an outdoor spa and love to visit spas. Brand new renovation at the Pomeroy has resulted in a fantastic outdoor relaxing spa, best of its kind in Western Canada. Great hiking in this region as well, this is where the local’s play and follow point 7 for a scenic backcountry drive over, Spray Lakes Road and the Smith Dorian Highway. Weekdays are likely best for this venue due to popularity.

For the quintessential Canadiana experience nothing beats canoeing on a glacier lake in the majestic Rockies. Our favourite location for this activity is Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, fuel up at Cilantro’s lakeside. While in Yoho it is worth a visit to Takakkaw Falls.

Activities

The Canadian Rockies has a host of ADVENTURE activities. The best of the offerings are as follows, Heli Skiing, Heli Tours, Dog Sledding, Whitewater Rafting, Bow Float (gentle interpretive float for non-adventurous), Snowmobile & more. Whatever your interests, any of these activities will highlight your time in the Rockies.
What to pack

Don`t forget your jacket!

We have seen the snow fly in every single month of the year in the Canadian Rockies! Be sure to bring comfortable layers of casual clothing for all seasons including a jacket for outerwear. Hopefully you have the best weather but be prepared in case you don’t. All venues in the Rockies are casual.

Canmore Hiking Trails

6.From the doorstep of the condo you can discover all of Canmore on foot. A huge network of trails can be accessed across the road (Railway Ave). Go past Starbucks/Alberta Treasury, cross the road at the pedestrian cross just past that building which leads you on to the trails. The river loop is the best and the old mining bridge is an architectural beauty. Circle into the downtown for a latte on the return. This is one of my favourite morning activities in Canmore. Grassi Lakes is another easy and popular Canmore hike.
Getting around

Local Transport

For those that prefer not to self-drive the Bow Valley has a good transit system linking Canmore-Banff-Lake Louise, www.roamtransit.com. For airport shuttle service to Canmore, www.banffairporter.com. In Canmore, a few taxi companies are available 1 403 996-2229 and all services are walking distance.
