A restaurant and European Deli. Famous since 1918. "Because Morse’s Sauerkraut and European Cafe occupies a barn on a rural road, it’s easy to pass by. But it’s worth seeking out. For schnitzel, borscht, blinis and other Eastern European favorites — as well as what’s widely regarded as the best sauerkraut around — make a stop at this uncommon, unlikely cafe in the middle of the Waldoboro countryside." They have organic horseradish vodka! The horseradish is from a local farm. Super good and easy to get to. They do a food truck nights on a variety of days usually between Thurs. and Sunday. Check out the Oxbow brewery if you're down w/ that sort of thing. they host a food truck fri. Split rock's are lobster, burger and "cook out", Oxbow is mainly burger or pizza.

Within 20 minutes of us: Great selection of food, feels fancy but casual and intimate at the same time. It can be hard to get a reservation. We always get there early then just sit at the bar where an interesting friendly group of.. no more than 10 people gather. Great local cocktails. Try a bloody mary with split rocks horseradish vodka (even the horseradish is local...for real). They also have the best selection of beers brewed locally. Their meals are big and rich so it is possible to just go "tapas style" : order appetizers and still come out with a full happy belly.

I LOVE having breakfast here. If you are up to something else in Bath (yoga, beaches, Maritime museum) you should start at Mae's . AMAZING food! Check their hours before you go. Don’t miss this place for breakfast lunch or dinner..they have some essential items for sale as well. Their baked goods an$ coffee are outstanding. On the pricey side due to all local food impeccably prepared, totally worth it. It’s a small location. We happily sit at the bar when we go in part because the owner Jasper (she grew up close by and used to go there for strawberry milk) chats us up. Close to swim spots and hiking. Perfect if you are heading farther north or back-reading it to Damariscotta.

This 224-acre gem has been delighting visitors since it was established by the Maine Forest Service in 1981. Six miles of paths wend through the pleasant woods and meadows, leading visitors to 23 collections. From the community forest demonstration and conifers to the Ellis Island sycamores and American chestnuts to the Governor's Grove and rock garden, there is much to enjoy. Scattered throughout the arboretum are two dozen works of rock and metal sculpture. The visitor center has more art exhibits, a wild animal tracks display, demonstration beehive and a stuffed moose.

An easy beautiful "out and back" 1 mile hike within a 10 minute drive from the cabin. Favored by bird watchers primarily it is a great dog walk as well. It begins in orchards, travels past lilly filled ponds and ends up in woods overlooking water. Stop by Goranson Farm food stand, then continue on to Bath. The entrance can be tricky to find the first visit. Look for the Green Point sign (on your right). Continue just past that. You will see a mustard colored house on your left. The bright yellow gate will across the street on your right. Pull into the parking area and follow the trail through the orchard.

Giant’s Stairs Trail should be at the top of your Midcoast list. Following along the rocky coastline, complete with crashing waves and views of the Casco Bay, this easy nature walk is the best way to kick-off a road trip up the Maine coast. One look at the rocks and you’ll soon see why it’s named ‘Giant’s Stairs’, and if you look closely, you might see some harbor seals playing in the water, or a lobster boat hauling traps. If you want to grab a bite to eat before setting out, grab some seafood at one of the spots at Harpswell’s Lobster Pounds, or roll through Brunswick’s Downtown area, where you can find eight different international cuisines in a single mile stretch.
