Only a block away from the house, Weed’s is an eclectic mix of many things- new and old, trendy and very grandma’s home-like. There is a piano and comfy couch in the back room to enjoy your morning beverage on. They are pretty talented with artwork in your latte if it’s not busy!

Who doesn’t love tacos and tequila? Not us! We highly recommend the original margaritas and the guacamole and chips. Yum!

One of us might be a Celiac, but the other makes up for it with overdoses of gluten. My husband is assistant brewer at Tool Shed so how could we not recommend giving this place a visit? They have some great brews (so I hear) and often host food trucks in the parking lot for food. Down side: it’s far from the train and an expensive Uber from our place if you plan on drinking. There’s also a Ghost Busters pin ball machine that makes a lot of noise in the back. Up side: ask for Jason and he can show you around the back!

I know it says barbershop, but it’s not as weird as it sounds (and there is a plastic barrier between the hair cutting and the restaurant). They have awesome, original cocktails, great service staff, and fresh ingredients. So delist! It’s also in Bridgeland, a quaint little neighbourhood great for walking through to look at the cute older homes. Check out the Bridgeland Market while you are strolling through Bridgeland!

Dairy Lane is locally-owned and if the line-up at all times tells you something about this place, their food and their coffee, it’s a must go! Enjoy a wonderful brunch or a cup of java outside while waiting for your table to be ready.

Finally! A cidery! This place has a great selection of beer and a handful of ciders. Say hi to Dan, the bar manager while you’re there and tell him we miss him. They have a food menu as well, but the drinks are what draw us into this spot. There’s also a pretty chill patio (dog friendly) and lots of board games to play. We recommend the Kitty Hawk cider.

Awesome spot with some of the best flavours you can imagine! Their chefs are hard at work so we can enjoy their creations. It’s family-style eating so don’t go there too hungry or your table-mates won’t be happy with you! Be sure to reserve your table on OpenTable here to make sure you get in: https://www.opentable.ca/ten-foot-henry-reservations-calgary We recommend the Tuna Crudo and the Marinated Beets.

This place is the most bazaar place you will go to in Calgary, we promise. Go on a weekend evening, you will see. Karaoke, the largest mix of people you could imagine congregate here. We love Pizza Bob’s since there is no corking fee for wine! That’s right, you can bring your own wine (there’s also a Co-op Liquor Store conveniently located two doors down!) and enjoy a massive plate of nachos or build your own pizza. Don’t forget that the wait staff don’t serve you at your table so you have to walk up to the bar to order!

This is Jason’s recommendation, from one beer-lover to another! Located in the historic Inglewood, Dandy is o e of his favourites because they do the risky flavour mixes for their beer. You can’t find anything like it in Calgary. It’s always packed in there! There’s a full restaurant in the Brewery as well.

Located in the “Barley Belt” bear Chinook Mall, Jason loves this brewery because of their great core beer options. There’s always something new and interesting on tap. Their head brewer is one of the best in the industry. There is a menu with snacks only. Chinook LRT can get you close to them since it is a bit of a jaunt from the house, but if you’re going to explore the Barley Belt, you might need the ditch the car anyways!
