The temple of Athena Aphaia is built in the northern part of the island in a place covered with pine trees and with a view of the beautiful blue sea. It's in a very good condition. Twenty-four pillars of the temple remain, out of a total of 34. It has been built in 480 b.c. just after the naval battle in Salamina. When the atmosphere is clear, you can see Poseidon's temple in Sounio and the Acropolis of Athens. It is said that the 3 temples form a triangle (the holy triangle of ancient times).

At the top of the hill of Kolona was the Temple of Apollo. It was built in the 6th century b.c. and only one pillar is left from the temple. The temple had the shape of a rectangle with 11 pillars on the big side and 6 one the small one. In the southern part of the temple, was the entrance and 2 small rectangular buildings. In the east was the altar of the temple, southeast was the temple of Artemidos, west was a round building and northern we have the foundations of a rectangular building. In excavations that took place, an ancient cemetary was discovered in the northern part of Apollo's temple where many tombs were found. Many gold jewellery, which are now in the British museum, were found in the tombs.

KAPRALOS MUSEUM - This museum is located on the northwest coast of Aegina, along the main coast road. It consists of six chambers - the sculptor's Kapralos workshops - while the landscaping surrounding them was designed by the sculptor. He left a collection of approximately 7,500 works to the Greek people on establishing his foundation. The visitor to the Kapralos Museum of Aegina may view works spanning the years 1963-93. His copper statue, The Mother, placed on a square opposite the museum by the sea, symbolizes the Greek mother, a woman who toils in devotion to her family.

Mount Ellanio is the highest mountain in Aegina. It's 532 meters high and at the peak of the mountain there is the Ascension Church. According to Mythology, during a period of drought, Aiakos asked Zeus to rain. His requests were heard and then Aiakos built a sanctuary in honour of Zeus in a place which today is called Sfirixtres. From the Hellenistic years, a wall was remained and next to it a stony staircase. At the top of the staircase there is a flat area and the sanctuary of Zeus is built in this area. We can see the foundations of a big building as well as the foundations of pillars that are in three sets. Higher up, were two tanks of water between the rocks. The higher one is the biggest. The view from Mount Ellanios is truly fantastic. You can literally see Saronikos. In the north part of the mountain, there is the church of Taxiarxon and in the lower parts of the mountain there is a town called Pahia Rahi which is built on the slope, over Marathonas.

PALEACHORA - Aegina's Medieval Village On a steep hill adjacent to the church and monastery of Agios Nektarios is located Aegina's version of Mystras - Paleachora, which means literally, "Old Town", and which was for a millennium (9th century - early 19th century AD) the island capital. The setting itself is magnificent, especially in spring, when all vegetation is a brilliant green both on the hill and in the valley below, seen in panoramic splendor from high above. All that remains of this hill village with its castle are its churches, rumored to number 365 - one for every day of the year - though this figure is unsupported by research. Of the 70 churches whose existence on the hill are confirmed, 33 churches remain and are open to visitors. Five have been restored and are in good condition, though most remain in great need of restoration. They belong to the Byzantine Service under the Greek Ministry of Culture, which authorizes any projects carried out here. The nearby quarry has caused much damage to the churches with its ongoing use of explosives.
