Food Scene

Mr Deschamps has the absolute best cakes within a 200 km radius. He is always my first stop when I have been away, and renews his creations regularly so it is always a treat to see what he has in store !

No frills restaurant run by a Marrocan / French couple, La Rose has the most delicious lamb shanks, generous steaks and a fun, local atmosphere. The menu is large and has something for everyone, and most weekends they have live music. Reservations recomended.

Drinks & Nightlife

The bars on the square at Saint Quentin are lovely, and are a nice change from the bustling Uzes markets. Friday morning is the bigger one, with everything you could wish for, whilst tuesday is the smaller producers organic market.

Entertainment & Activities

The Ferme Coudert has a wide selection of animals (pigs, horses, donkeys, ostriches, buffaloes,...), are very friendly and hold a small flea market every wednesday afternoon, with a goose or piglet race (which you may bet on!) and a provencal cowboy display. There is also food and wine, and lots of locals.

Arts & Culture

Nimes is a beautiful Roman town, with the biggest Roman Arena outside of Italy. The Maison Carree temple sits opposite Norman Foster s Carre d'Art (modern art museum) and Courtois has delicious cakes & pastries. The Semaphore Cinema is also one of my favourite places, with a great foreign selection and children s program.

Everything Else

The Uzes flea market is every Sunday morning, and a great treasure hunt for anyone who likes antiques, old knick knacks and bargains for a steal. The earlier is better time wise, as it is quite a sun trap and gets very crowded.
