Just booked in Stuarts Draft

Come be our guest! Your room has a comfy double bed for your night's rest. The shared spaces include wireless internet, basic cable TV with HBO, a front porch with rocking chairs, and inside and outside dining areas. Off street parking, and only a 10 minute walk to downtown! We are cat-free.
Please be our guest, in the guest room of our cute house near Downtown. We can accommodate two guests, and have off-street parking. We are walking distance to restaurants, shops, Mary Baldwin, Heifetz and Staunton Music Festival venues, and the American Shakespeare Center. Enjoy all the area has to offer, including hiking, biking, history, antiques, and culture! Note: your bedroom and the bathroom are UPSTAIRS. It is a pleasant half-mile walk from the house to downtown restaurants, activities, and Mary Baldwin University. We are in easy walking distance of two electric car charging stations. We can give you directions to some of the usual tourist destinations, and instructions to our favorite hiking spot on the Appalachian trail, about a 20 minute drive away on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are LGBT friendly! Please note that the guest bedroom is upstairs. Guests need to be able to get themselves and their luggage up a full flight of 17 curved stairs. There are handrails on both sides of the stairwell. There are also five steps from the driveway to the front door. The ability to climb stairs is a must if you want to stay here. Also note, we have a miniature poodle. Poodles are hypoallergenic and do not bother most people with allergies. The poodle stays downstairs if nobody is home, and will not go in your bedroom during your visit. However he has free access to the rest of the house, and is allowed on furniture. We will consider guests with small dogs on a case-by-case basis but they must get along well with other dogs. We do NOT accept cats as we are cat-free for allergy purposes. Write us with your questions and specifics. We love to chat with guests about their lives and travels, but can also leave you alone if desired. If you need help finding things to do, we can come up with some ideas, and give you directions to the most common destinations. Guests may park safely off the street in our driveway. The Staunton Trolley passes on the next street over. We can give you directions to places of note, including our favorite hiking destinations. You will be sharing the bathroom facilities with your two hosts. Note: your bedroom door doesn't lock, but neither does mine. It is a charming older house and sometimes makes charming old-house noises, such as creaky stairs.
We live just outside of "downtown." Our neighborhood is a lovely mix of families and races and ages. Many of the residents walk to work and other local destinations regularly. The best bakery in town is at the end of our block.
  • Great experience. Perfect overnight stop on our way back home from Tennessee. Sandy was very attentive and accommodating. Loved talking to her. Cute little town!

  • Sandy was fantastic! She is very warm and inviting and has a lovely home! My stay was very short, but in that time she was very helpful and accommodating. She supplies you with information about the area and very specific directions to her home and access. Overall, Sandy is an incredible person with an amazing life story! I am so very glad to have met her and hope to stay again someday!

  • I really enjoyed my stay with Sandy and Jennifer. Their lovely home was conveniently located close to the downtown. I was able to walk into town go see a show have a drink afterwords and then back to the house. It all worked out beautifully.

  • Jennifer and Sandy are wonderful hosts, very friendly and welcoming. Love their comfortable home (especially the inspirational stairs and rocking chairs), hot hot shower and soft bed. Easy walk into town and great bakery with a fabulous egg sandwich right around the corner. Looking forward to a future stay!

  • A totally wonderful experience! My wife and I had a great time. The accommodations were perfect for us. Sandy is a simply fabulous hostess and such an interesting person. We liked everything and there wasn't anything that we didn't like. A perfect stopover! (My wife especially loved Sandy's quilts and other craftwork--and her banana bread[ . . . and me too--yummy!])

    Robert2015-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy was very welcoming--especially to our small dog! The location was great for visiting Staunton; it was in easy walking distance of everything.

Historic home located near hiking trails, horseback riding, lakes, shopping and more. This house has lots of stories to tell. Since the home/tavern was built in the 1790’s it is very basic to preserve its history. It does have electricity and indoor plumbing. With 3300 square feet of space and a large back yard, it is great for family get togethers…just bring your sleeping bags/cots if more than 4 quests.
  • Bell's Tavern is a gem. It'll probably be the most unique Airbnb I'll ever book. I'd love to hear the stories this house has to tell! It is clean, spacious, eclectic, historic, unusual, peaceful. It's simply furnished and tastefully decorated; even the old wallpapers lend to the home's story and appeal! If you're looking for modern amenities like TV or wifi and updated appliances and fixtures, this isn't the place for you but you'll miss out on this home's rustic charm and tranquility. Joe is a responsive host, and his daughter, Beth, greeted us despite our late arrival to show us some of the home's nuances. This would be an ideal choice for a couple's, girls', or guys' weekend getaway, or an "unplugged" family vacation. I would book here again.

    Amy2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Historic home, enjoyed learning the history of the home. My children loved the horses in the pasture next door.

    Melissa2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • An original and unique rental, part of the historic houses of Augusta county. The pictures do not do it justice. The yard, premises and all the many rooms within the house (at least 10 if I counted properly) are all extremely charming and decorated with much taste and antique furnitures or objects. Joe and his family are extremely helpful and their communication is flawless.

    Nico2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, 2 children, and parents stayed at Bell's Tavern for a couple of days to visit the mountains and do some hiking. We LOVED the antique charm of the house, there was plenty of space for us to spread out, and the space out back was perfect to pitch the tent for the kids and enjoy their fire pit. The kitchen had everything we needed except for a couple of specialty items that our hosts got to us right away. Also, the location was so close to what we wanted to visit in the area so that was a bonus! We definitely recommend it!

  • Joe was a great host, always on standby for any help or local recommendations. The place was quiet and full of interesting history!

    Christine2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Joes place is very unique and has a lot of character. The house is older and is in a beautiful setting. Very quiet relaxing getaway. Joe himself was a great host! Very attentive to your needs and easy to work with. It would definitely be a place I would love to return to. You couldn't ask for a better host!

My place is close to Mountains in Shenandoah. You’ll love my place because of My backyard is the National Forest. I am close to most trails, I have lots of parking space off from the road, and in a quiet neighborhood. I have a lot of guests that choose my home for the price as they drive through and even though the price is great, you need to know that I am approx. 6 miles off the I-81 and 8 miles off of I-64.
I have 2 bedrooms open, a good fun room with games. We have a large back deck, kitchen, and washer and dryer. As long as you clean after yourself, my house is your house.
Have a fun experience-- Tambien hablo Espanol muy bien
  • He makes every part of the hose available to his guests. The house looks new inside.

    Steven2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Rob responded very quickly with direct answers to any questions we asked, and we genuinely felt welcome and comfortable, so much that we frequently referred to his place, in conversations between us, as "home". His home is easy to find, in a very quiet and safe neighborhood in the country, yet just 10 minutes from any shopping or restaurants you may need. The location makes getting to the mountaintops or to the historical and nature areas to the east, north or south easy. A wonderful value!

    John2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Rob was extremely accommodating. His space was comfortable and clean, and the house served as a perfect hub for the blue ridge mountains.

    Matthew2017-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • I've now spent a total of 8 nights here over 2 trips. No complaints. Relaxed, quiet, and affordable. Couldn't ask for more.

    Bryan2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay with Rob! His place is close to lots of the local hiking and breweries, which was our reason for staying here. Rob was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He was also easy to communicate with and flexible with check-in. His place is excellent value, and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for a wonderful stay Rob!

    Brianne2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Rob made sure he was available to answer any questions and was glad to chat about his beautiful family upon my prompting. Yet he was also intuitive about our need for privacy. We enjoyed the luxury of a king size bed: a bed bigger than our bed at home. Although we didn’t need to unpack for our brief stay, there were ample dresser drawers and closet space in the room and a bathroom only a few steps away. This location was perfect for us and worth the extra drive off Hwy 64. The room was very quiet. I didn’t hear neighborhood noises or appliances making noises in the house.

    Judy2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Rob's place is great, and he's a wonderful host. He was very warm, and even fixed us dinner the night we arrived! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting that area.

    Tanya2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay at Robs house. He is very friendly, relaxed and helpfull. The neighbourhood is quiet and green. His house was very clean and nice to stay! We also enjoyed his dog.

This apartment is very private with great views from the deck which leads off the bedroom.
This is in a rural setting with fabulous views of the Blueridge Mountains and surrounding countryside. Being so, the apartment is located within minutes from downtown Staunton.
  • Absolutely perfect location with stellar views!! It was just far enough out of town to provide an escape, but close enough that getting there wasn't a chore. Sharon has amazing taste in decor, and everything was neat and tidy. I would definitely return.

    Christine2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for a weekend away from Washington. Lovely guest house apartment near Staunton and perfect if you are looking be out in the country. Apartment has everything you need for a vacation, including cooking utensils. The host even left out cookies to welcome us. Highly recommend!

  • She greeted us in the driveway and showed us all around the apartment. Their space was beautifully decorated and comfortable. I am planning on visiting again.

  • We loved our stay at Sharon's place. It's close to town but worlds apart. The listing is accurate, the place is very clean and the view is stunning. Sharon was very accommodating. I highly recommend.

    John2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful location and accommodations. I never left the property. Sharon was quick to respond to my reservation and was there to assist me upon arrival. The property provided a space for a much needed relaxing few days. I did some hiking when I left. Easy access to either Skyline Drive or Blue Ridge Parkway within a few miles of property.

    Debbie2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The ideal Airbnb. My grandma and I were blown away. An absolutely beautiful guest house on a sublime property. Sharon is lovely, and a contentious host. I especially enjoyed her book collection, some great reading for relaxing, recharging, and self-exploring.

  • Deanie and Ken are unbelievable hosts! They made our stay incredibly comfortable. Deanie is probably one of the most thoughtful people I have ever met. We came in late at night and even gave us beverages to quench our thirst! Their farm is gorgeous and provides a wonderful quaint getaway experience. I highly highly recommend their b&b. They have hot tubs, pools, and beautiful hikes on site!

    Elaine2013-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • We fell very quickly in love with Penmerryl Farm! It is an immaculately kept facility and the hospitality was superb. Gammon was most warm and welcoming...and an amazing cook!! Such a wonderful setting for walking and enjoying the view, and watching the horse activity. We had the privilege of staying there as we traveled to and from Tennessee, and as we arrived on our journey home it was like coming home! We were truly blessed to be there and look forward to returning.

    Tom2015-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful meadows, horseback riding courses, mountains on the horizon, a pool, lake, hot tub, horses, dogs, fantastic food, down-to-earth, lovely people--we were very satisfied. The grounds are so peaceful. Deanie is a beautiful, graceful hostess. She gave us a grand tour, (sensitively wrapping it up when we mentioned that we had to leave for an appointment), answered all our questions and made us feel at home, from her warm smile and personality to the freshly-made cookies waiting for us in our room! She gave us a very important tip about making reservations ahead of time at Monticello. She is a fabulous cook and conversationalist. Her kind and charming husband Ken joined us at breakfast and we understood what an amazing, well-traveled couple they are. Deanie gave us recipes, told us great stories and shared her experiences. If you're a dog-lover, as I am, you will also enjoy all the well-behaved pups on the property. We will be back for sure!

    Carolyn2014-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Deanie and her husband Ken were a superb hosts. My boyfriend and I only stayed for the weekend, but could have stayed much longer! The breakfast was absolutely amazing! The farm was so picturesque tucked away in the Shenandoah Valley with a great view of the mountains in the distance. We had a lot of fun hiking in nearby Shenandoah National Park. We also enjoyed an afternoon walking around downtown Staunton (15 minutes away) and visiting the fantastic wineries and breweries close by. When we returned from a day out, the pool was the perfect place to unwind. It was overall a great, relaxing vacation. We are a younger couple, but would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

    Brandy2014-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night staying with Deanie and Ken. They are very welcoming and overly accommodating to each guests needs. My husband has a Gluten Allergy that I failed to tell Deanie about until we arrived late at night. By the time morning came around, a full GF breakfast was prepared! This is just one example of how much they truly care about each guest that comes through their beautiful B&B!

    Michele2013-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect blend of country, nature and creature comforts. Deanie is a marvelous hostess who provided a superb breakfast (more like a brunch) with her unique recipes and abundant fresh fruits. A horse ranch in the Shenandoah valley, our poolside room was just what we needed. Thanks again, Deanie, for a very pleasant stay!

    Reed2012-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The farm was beautiful and very relaxing. We were the only people there for the night which made it even better because we had the whole place to ourselves. We used the hot tub, sat poolside, and even were able to grill a nice steak dinner. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and our hostess was good at reading us and providing a little bit of conversation but also giving us our space to enjoy each other's company. The only negative about our stay was that we had booked a room with a queen-sized bed and upon arrival we discovered our bed was a full. Overall, the trip was wonderful and we definitely recommend Penmerryl to anyone looking to stay there.

    LeAnn2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Deanie and her husband made us feel like family at their lovely property. Some of the many highlights were an awesome homemade breakfast, taking the canoe for a tranquil ride on the lake, cooling off at the pool, nice peaceful walks around the farm, and close proximity to Staunton among many other wonderful sites. We'll easily return in the future.

  • Close the highway for each access. Lovely space, spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated, like staying in a 3-star hotel; to me anyway! The room is on the other side of the house from the hosts' so it feels nice and private and you don't feel like you are intruding. Your private bathroom is right next to your room. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming.

So much so that we lingered several hours after breakfast enjoying getting to know each other better. We left vowing to keep in touch with each other and look forward to meeting Ken. Hopefully we can catch up to each other soon. Hugs, Denise & Rudy

  • Great experience! Our 2 lab puppies loved the spacious grounds and nature trails leading to a beautiful lake. Everyone was welcoming during the stay. The breakfast was far above any expectations- homemade casseroles, fruit, potatoes, toast, coffee, etc. We visited during the beautiful fall season, so the entire property was a picturesque scene. We highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone looking for a relaxing atmosphere, welcoming hosts, and spacious and clean accommodations. Even though this place is pet friendly, it is extremely well kept and clean. Check-in and check-out were easy processes and we experienced no complications or inconveniences. We will be making another trip to Penmerryl Farm. We hope to make this a new yearly tradition!

  • We were looking for a nice place for a lovely week end in Virginia, and I do not see in any dream how it could have been better! we spend the week end enjoying the place, nice horses all around, the landscape (15mn by car from a hike next to a water fall), the hot spot, the pool.. and the most amazing host I never met! Deanie and Ken make you feel like home in less than 5mn!! Hope I can come back very soon!!!

    Faustine2012-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great, we wish we could have stayed longer but we only had one night. The rooms are rustic, without a TV even. But it was a nice change of pace. Bring your horse to really take advantage of the beautiful facilities and grounds.

  • This was our first experience with airbnb and Penmerryl Farm. We were on a road trip with our 12 year old grand daughter and we wanted to stay somewhere off the beaten path and outside of a hotel setting. We found Penmerryl on airbnb and many positive reviews sold us. We thought a farm setting would be great for our grand daughter and it was. Horses, lakes, row boat ride, dip in the pool and hot tub. What we didn't expect was to be blown away by the generosity and warmth of the Pittkin family. Deanie, Ken, Lydia and Turner are amazing hosts. Excellent food and great conversations at breakfast with the Pittkin clan. We had lots of laughs. We feel fortunate to have found this place and we highly recommend it. Thanks for making our stay so memorable and fun.

  • The cabin is great. A perfect blend of rustic relaxation and modern convenience. Highly recommend.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin and property. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and the property was peaceful and relaxing. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers. We saw frogs, birds, fish (in both the pond and stream), guinea hogs, and other wildlife. We played cornhole, grilled steaks, and made s'mores over the fire pit. It was like summer camp for adults. Doug was a fantastic host and very helpful with our stay.

  • The cabin was as-described and very nice. Although the construction appears rustic, it has all the amenities you could want. Centrally located to numerous outdoor activities along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Sherando Lake, what's not to like! Overall beautiful place and peaceful stay!

    Adam2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect getaway from the city. It has a nice pond and a fire pit for bonfires. The area is secluded with barely any cell service. Wifi is also slow so you are forced to enjoy nature and this beautiful cabin. Humback Rock, a short but scenic hike, is a just 20-minute drive.

  • Leslie is amazing! She gave a very comfortable experience and worked with my schedule. Also gave me an autographed copy of her book "Book Ends."

  • I booked this room to be close to my University for graduation and I could not have made a better choice. Comfortable stay! Leslie was very hospitable and easy to work with. Contacting her was easy and she checked in with us to make sure things were going smooth. Leslie shared her homemade potatoe bread with us and although we are watching our calories we sure enjoyed a slice! I'd highly recommend this location, if you are looking for a nice cozy room for stay.

Short stay or long term, I am pleased to host you! Travelers on business or pleasure are welcome into my home, with convenient access to shopping, dining, the Appalachian Trail, Nelson 151 Breweries and many wineries! Families and solo adventurers are invited to stay for one evening or several months! Ask about special discounts for long term rentals - Travel Nurses are delighted to find that I am less than 10 minutes from Augusta Medical Center and have very reasonable monthly rates.
I am seldom home during the week but I am usually home on the weekends. Your friendly dog or cat is welcome to stay with me as long as they are house trained and behaved. My 11 year old chocolate lab can keep them company!
Family friendly, safe neighborhood with quiet neighbors and a private setting.

Beautiful antique-laden historic home conveniently located near intersection of I-81 and I-64 in Shenandoah Valley. Great for outdoor-enthusiasts, family and pet friendly.
Quiet neighborhood with lots of privacy.
  • This house is conveniently located off of 81 so we booked it for a night on our trip down to TN. Do not let the lack of photos scare you. This historic home is loaded with personality and decorated in antiques. I would have loved to know more about the history of the house. The owner, Delbert, could not have been more gracious and was waiting for us on the porch with a smile when we rolled up at the end of the window we had given for our late arrival (coming from NJ). The AirBnB part is a separate section of the house with a dining room, a comfortable sitting room, and upstairs, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Oh, and a porch that faces the small town side road. I could spend a lot of time hanging on the porch with a good book. I understand that this rental is a work in progress and that more bedrooms will be added to the guest area in due course. Late night food choice in the town are limited to the truck stop and the Arby's so either opt for one of those or make decision you are going to be hungry before 11:30 pm. An important lesson for New Jersey kids who are used to 24 hour food choices at diners and Wawa's. The log cabin/convenience store is a couple of minutes down the street, easily walked to, and a good place for a quick breakfast or beverages. This AirBnB was one of the best values I have ever run across and beats the snot out of staying in a nondescript highway chain hotel. I wholeheartedly recommend it, particularly for lovers of old buildings and travellers who are looking for something other than an easily forgotten, overpriced stay at a mediocre hotel.

    Ann2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Delbert was gracious and helpful, and his home is fascinating, with antiques which made my wife and I feel a part of old Virginia. We hope to stay at Delbert's again in the future!

    Michael2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at the Levi Smith house was my first AirBnB. I was pleased with the accommodations (the beds were very comfortable) and Delbert was an ideal host, helping us when needed, and giving us space otherwise. As suggested in his listing, his two dogs were friendly. The location was beautiful and convenient to both the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. We enjoyed playing board games in his garden and appreciated the opportunity to cook our own meals in his well stocked kitchen. I would definitely stay there again.

    Lisa2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Delberts place was awesome! It is a super cool place with interesting antiques. Perfect for what we wanted.

    Mustafa2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very interesting place with a lot of visible history and antiques. The wall art and decor was fascinating. Expect a 200+ yr old (URL HIDDEN) it is not super clean. My dad and I loved it! You get a lot of private space too. I definitely want to go back.

    Hannah2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Delbert and his eclectic home is very inviting. A quaint home situated on quiet street. Delbert was most hospitable, very attentive and kind. The home portrays southern charm and you will be enveloped with antique magnetism. Del's home is situated close enough to the highway/interstate but far enough away to enjoy a leisurely stroll to the country store just down the road. Enjoyed our stay enough to book again!

    Monica2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty cool to get to stay in such an old house, surrounded by so many antiques; a little history lesson that gave us a peek at living in an early American home. Beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable--both are on the small side, in keeping with the historical period of the house. Del clearly has a passion for antiques and is enthusiastic about sharing his hobby with others. He was a gracious host and was eager to make sure we were comfortable, readily extending offers to provide anything we might need.

    Ruthie2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Delbert is a kind, gracious host, and his home is charming. I enjoyed my stay. The guest quarters are extensive. I was on my own but the apartment could accommodate several guests. Garden is lovely. House is easy to reach from Route 64.

  • Randall's place is an oasis of calm, a space where every detail contributes to a sense of country peace, quiet, and beauty. Everything was exactly as described. The separate entrance creates a sense of complete privacy, which Randall fully respects. The bed is one of the best I have ever slept in. In short, this location is a gem, a great value.

  • We so much enjoyed our stay here! The room was very close to downtown Waynesboro--convenient to vineyards, breweries, grocery stores, gas stations, but also in a quiet neighborhood. We felt very safe here. The communication before and during our stay was very helpful. We had more than we needed--Jay and Donna made our stay comfortable and enjoyable, from providing coffee and tea to an extremely clean space to a very affordable price. The bed was incredibly comfortable as well! I would definitely stay here again if I travel to Waynesboro!

  • I can not speak more highly of W J and their service. The room is off the side of the main house. It has everything you need for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. Very professional. They were totally discrete and we couldn't even tell they were there. I drove through the night so they move the check-in time up for us so I could check in early and catch some sleep. Super friendly and very accommodating.

  • One of the rare places where the pictures don't do it justice. Exceedingly comfortable and well-appointed farm house in a beautiful setting. Kids loved the cows nearby.

  • Such a fantastic hidden gem. This old farmhouse has kept all of its 200 year-old charm, but updated where it counts (kitchen, bathroom, and air/heat). I was able to have a cup of coffee on the porch while cow from the nearby farm strolled by. This was such a cozy retreat it was a shame we could not stay longer. We stayed with two children and my in-laws and there was the perfect amount of room. Great communication from the owners.

    Bethany2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This farmhouse was absolutely perfect for a quick retreat! The land is absolutely gorgeous and the house is exceptional unique. We had a wonderful time and were relieved to find a soothing place to land! Thanks for everything!

    Caitlin2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The farmhouse is very idyllic! My mother-in-law particularly enjoyed having her morning coffee on the porch while watching the birds and the cows - she said it was the most peaceful/relaxed she'd been in a long time. The decor is perfect for the area, and the kitchen is amazing and well-stocked. We cooked a homemade breakfast, enjoying a nice family meal before continuing our exploration of Shenandoah. Samuel and his wife were great hosts - they even provided some muffins and orange juice for us! Our family is already planning a longer return trip next year.

    Rachael2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our best Airbnb experience ever!!! Sam and Beth are super friendly and considerate, they left a bunch of bottle water and unopened ingredients in the refrigerator for us. The kitchen is fully equipped, lots of premium towels... the house is very nicely decorated, warm and cozy. It has a lot of rooms for the 6 of us. It is surrounded by a beautiful farm. Looking out from everything window is a breath taking picture. You wake up hearing the mooing of the Angus cow. It is an unforgettable night. We wish we can stay longer. We will definitely be back! Sam and Beth, see you again soon!

    becky2017-08-20T00:00:00Z

We are surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Appalachian Mountains to the west. Gorgeous 360 degree mountain views. We are not far from great hiking trails like Crabtree Falls & St. Mary's Wilderness.
  • The breakfast that she cooked us was incredible. The kids loved the pool and canoeing. So glad that pets are welcome.

  • Best of AirB&B, had a wonderful stay. Delicious breakfast, thanks Gammon. Everyone was friendly, got great recommendations on hiking and fishing, and got to pet a few horses. I would mention the hot tub is out of commission but this place is so awesome it made up for it. Thanks again

  • This was a very comfortable, spacious and well equipped place. We loved the decor and the big comfy bed. The continental breakfast was a treat, as was the baking from the local bakeshop, left for us to enjoy. The place was easy to find and has a very good Italian restaurant just down the street. I don't think you can go wrong booking this place.

  • We absolutely loved Randy and Lori‘s place. They were perfect hosts. Their place is immaculate, well decorated and inviting. They are located in a great neighborhood that is convenient to everything. The bed was very comfortable as well as the rest of the furniture. They have a great little kitchen area set up with awesome snacks. My husband and I really enjoyed their front porch swing while watching trick-or-treaters up and down the neighborhood. We highly recommend Randy and Lori’s upstairs apartment retreat.

  • Randy and Lori have thought of every detail. From the toiletries to the snacks to the gorgeous decor and the amazingly comfortable sofa. Amazing location for accessing skyline Drive/Shenandoah National Park. So much more comfortable than a hotel!

    Jeanne2017-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Randy was a terrific host. The house was clean and cool. He provided helpful recommendations for our hiking trip and a nice continental breakfast. His house is also very easy to get to and quiet at night. My favorite Airbnb experience yet!

    Brendan2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gorgeous space. Lots of room. Easy to check in and find. Quiet. Comfortable. I met Randy when checking in. He was friendly and thorough at showing me around. Enjoyed a couple conversations with Lori. There was an array of drinks and snacks available. Microwave and keurig for use. Great value. Loved the space so much, I already rebooked.

    Heidi2017-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Randy and his wife were the best hosts I've had yet! They were easy to communicate with before we arrived and were very friendly during our stay. They gave great suggestions for places visit to since it was my first time in the area. They're located conveniently near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah National Park, Polyface Farm, Charlottesville and many other great places. The recently renovated upstairs wing (where guests stay) has fast wifi, a full bathroom, a bedroom with a king bed, a TV room with a comfy couch and Netflix, and a kitchenette with snacks, refreshments and breakfast items. We are so happy we stayed there and hope to stay there again soon!

Now HERE is a really great house! Fit for a KING or actually 2 of them. 2 kings, 1 queen, 4 twins, 2 full kitchens (1 totally redone), 3 1/2 bathrooms, great deck, and a POOL TABLE. BEAUTIFUL location, very private & comfortable!
Now HERE is a really great house! Fit for a KING or actually 3 of them. This house has 4 large bedrooms with 3 of them having KING size beds. Then there is a Queen room & also a twin day bed in the loft that has a pop up trundle so this could be another KING (that makes 4) ..or they can separate into separate twins. The top floor has 2 bedrooms and the loft and a full bath. The main floor has a entry, a half bath, newly redone kitchen, laundry room, dining area, living room, and the mater bedroom that has a private full bath. The Master bedroom & living room and dining room ALL have beautiful doors going out to a really nice deck. Nice porch furniture & a gas grill. Then there is the downstairs… a second full kitchen.. a full bath and a very large bedroom … AND A POOL TABLE! Lots of space with 4 bedrooms plus a loft….3 & 1/2 baths … 2 kitchens…. and the big game room. One side of the house is completely private… nothing but woods! It boarders on the Old Appalachian Trail and also is directly across from the Wintergreen Nature Preserve! Then one of my favorite spots is the Ravens Roost overlook that is a BEAUTIFUL 1/4 mile walk.
    I LOVE this neighborhood!
  • Dawn is an amazing host, prompt responses. The house is very nice and spacious, great location, saw multiple deer in morning and evening. Great hiking, easy drive to the ski area. Cozy winter cabin feel. Kids loved the game room down stairs.

    CLINT2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Dawn was a great host and did an amazing job of making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. She was very easy to contact and always responded promptly. Her recommendations for places to go and things to do were all great ideas and well worth looking into.

    Victor2016-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Dawn was a wonderful host and made sure the house was stocked with all the necessities for a relaxing weekend in the mountains. The house was beautiful and very comfortable. We will definitely be back in the future!

    Sarah2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • My extended family and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this property. Dawn was a top notch host, the best I have ever worked with: very responsive, helpful and flexible. We used the house as a weekend getaway focused on time outdoors (sitting on the porch, evening walks to the nearby overlook, and hikes along the old AT and nearby Humpback Rocks) and big dinners and game nights, which the house was perfect for. We would come back again!

    Margaret2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for our wedding weekend! My husband and I had our families stay with us at the house and 9 adults fit just fine. The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of space to relax. The pool table was a nice addition for a night we stayed in. Dawn was very communicative and helpful even though she was busy with a sick family member. We had a great time and the house made our special weekend even better!

    danielle2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house was better than advertised! Dawn is a great host and was only a text away. We will def be back to hang with Ernie the Elk!

    Drew2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything Dawn did made us feel extremely welcome! She promptly answered all of our questions and described the area in detail. She made the check-in process effortless and seamless (the same goes for check-out!!). She made the amenities readily available. Also, the beds were extremely comfy and clean. The house itself was gorgeous with a great pool table (and ping-pong add-on!!!) Although there was no central air, Dawn assured us that the cool mountain breeze would help and it DID! She also gave us directions to everything (and I mean everything) in the area. In fact, we walked to the overlook near the house (with our children). The view was amazing and it was everything she described.

    Toby2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great! We had a blast playing pool, sitting on the deck enjoying nature and just enjoying the house!

Experience one of the most noteworthy Staunton restorations in recent years. Completely pulled apart and rebuilt. Gourmet kitchen is gorgeous and appointed. Super flow, with master suite on the first floor. 3 additional beds up. Two balconies off the second floor. Lots of outdoor space. High end touches make this space special. Walk to the Shack and Staunton's renowned Downtown. Take in a show at the Blackfriars Playhouse. You won't want to miss this one.
  • Fantastic house and an awesome area! Very responsive hostess!

    Anne2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home within a few minutes walk from downtown Staunton! We loved this house - lots of fun character, clean, bright spaces. The porches were lovely and the kitchen was great for cooking as a family and hanging out. We enjoyed being able to walk to and from town and enjoyed relaxing at the house for games or movies at night. The rooms are big and bright and we had everything we needed. A perfect place for a family or friends to be together and enjoy all that Staunton has to offer. Shannon was great to work with - very responsive (even on a holiday!) and quick to answer any questions or offer assistance. Highly recommend this place and my whole family hopes to stay here again if we have another occasion to be in Staunton together!

    Jacquelyn2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing restoration located just 2 blocks from the Shakespeare theatre where we saw a great show! Very spacious and clean and beautiful views from back decks! We will return!

    Beth2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic! Absolutely beautiful!

    Julia2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon's house fully exceeded all our expectations. The place itself is beautiful, spacious, stylish, modern appliances and bathrooms, and just over all awesome. It was also exceptionally clean. There are a couple balconies on the 2nd floor that are amazing to sit outside and enjoy a conversation. However, the coolest part of all is that it's a historic home that's been completely rebuilt/renovated and modernized so it just has so much detail, charm, and character. The location is just as amazing as the house since it was a very short walk to Staunton's downtown for dinner. Checking in and checking out was a seamless and easy experience and communication with Shannon was A+. There is not one downside we can say about our whole visit and this home significantly surpasses the standard airbnb experience. I would highly-highly recommend this house to any traveler wishing to stay in the Staunton area. Thanks so much Shannon! Your place and is far above and beyond what we could have ever imagined!!!

    Jeff & Anna2017-10-06T00:00:00Z

  • I really can't say enough about this place, and the pictures don't do justice. we decided to make plans for our 4th of July weekend a week before, we really thought we were not going to find anything, but we are so glad we found this beauty. We were really lucky! The house is part of the Wintergreen Resort and we had so many options and things to do during our stay. We all wished we had more days to enjoy it more. This was our first road trip with my baby boy and celebrated that he turned 5 months and many first on this trip. Carolyn was a great host and answered all my questions, the house was spacious, beautiful decorated and well maintain. We will definitely come back soon.

    Maryering2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn, the host, was a pleasure to work with and she was very responsive. The house was absolutely beautiful and it looked exactly as it did in the pictures, no surprises. The housekeeper, was also a pleasure to work with and she was very informative and available as needed. This was my first time booking a rental with Airbnb and it was an excellent experience from the time of inquiry, booking, check in and check out. My family loved the home and we made memories that will last a lifetime.

    Michele2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful home! A group of my college girlfriends and I stayed here for a girls' weekend getaway from little kiddos, looking for relaxation and connection - it was PERFECT. There are gorgeous, peaceful mountain views from almost every room. We enjoyed lounging with a fire going in the stone fireplace. The host thought of EVERYTHING, down to coffee filters, shampoo and conditioner, firewood, you name it. The kitchen is well-stocked and the beds were comfortable. There is a nearby trail that provided a great outing outdoors and leads to some cliffs overlooking the valley. We cannot say enough fantastic things about this home and host!

Wintergreen Resort Overview: This 11,000 acre resort in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains is a good choice for sports enthusiasts as well as families who enjoy hiking and the outdoors. Well known for its award-winning children's program and outstanding golf and tennis facilities, Wintergreen also offers extensive hiking trails, indoor and outdoor swimming, mountain biking, boating, fly-fishing classes, equestrian facilities, and a spa and fitness center. The resort is comprised of two settings separated by a 20-25 minute drive: a mountaintop resort center with cooler temperatures and a full range of amenities; and the Stoney Creek Valley setting with golf, tennis, a lake, pool, dining and equestrian facilities. For families with active kids and teens, the resort's Out of Bounds Adventure Center allows guests to challenge themselves on a 25-foot climbing tower, play paintball, mountain bike down plunging slopes, try out the new bungy-trampoline, and test their skills on the resort's 13,650 square foot skate park. In addition to its many amenities, the resort also offers a varying weekly schedule of special activities and events with family appeal. In the winter months, the resort's downhill skiing and snowboarding facilities are a magnet for guests. Wintergreen has distinguished itself by offering a wide variety of family-friendly activities and amenities for all seasons of the year. Stand-Out Features: Beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a wide variety of options for the sports enthusiast, excellent hiking and nature programs, creative children's programs, and the Out of Bounds Adventure Center. Restaurants: While many families choose to cook their own meals in their rental home, four full-service dining options are offered at Wintergreen. The Copper Mine Restaurant and Lounge offers breakfast, dinner and dessert menus with special brunches during the spring season. The restaurant is rather expensive in price, but the food is delicious and children's menus are available. The Devils Grill Restaurant and Lounge, located at the Devils Knob Golf Course, offers a club-like atmosphere with patio dining during the spring and summer seasons. Here, kids menus are pasted into children's books to provide additional meal. The Edge is the most casual restaurant, featuring a large screen TV and live entertainment. Menu items include sandwiches, salads and burgers, and lunch and dinner are served daily. In the valley, the Stoney Creek Bar & Grill provides alfresco dining with panoramic views. For casual dining at home, families will save a considerable amount of money by cooking their own meals. There is a grocery store - the resort's Blackrock Market & Deli nearby (2 miles ) with good selection of gourmet deli sandwiches and salads, fresh baked goods as well as made to order pizzas. You'll also find a variety of gourmet cheeses, crackers, chips, vinegars, yogurts and jams and jellies. But if you want reasonably priced fresh meats and fresh seafood, stock up at one of the stores in Nellysford (10 miles), Waynesborro (25 miles ), or Charlottesville (40 miles). Children's Programs: Wintergreen's award-winning children's programs are just one of the reasons why both Family Circle and Better Homes and Gardens magazines selected Wintergreen as one of the "Top Family Resorts in the Country". Programs are held at the Treehouse, a spacious, airy building central to mountaintop activities. Registration is required for all Treehouse programs, and it is strongly suggested that guests call before they come to make reservations. Children are grouped according to age and ability with appropriate staff/child ratios. The following programs are available: Kids in Action (Ages 2 ½ - 12): Available weekends from March to June, daily from mid-June through early September, and during weekends in the fall. There is one weekend in the fall and one weekend in the spring when this program is not offered - call the resort for specific dates. Location: Treehouse. Activities for ages: 2 ½ - 5 include hikes in search of butterflies, nature programs, songs and finger-painting. Early or late hourly care in the Treehouse is also available for the one-hour period before and after Kids in Action. Kids' Night Out (Ages 6-12): Offered Friday and Saturday nights in July and August, from 6-10 pm, for pizza, swim at Wintergarden, ice cream sundae socials and movies. Friday is "Cinema Splash" and Saturday is "Lake Night". Kids Night Out is also offered during other times of the year. Kids' Night Camp Out (Ages 6-14): Offered Wednesday nights in July and August (from 5 pm Wednesday to 9 am Thursday; minimum 5 pre-registered kids for program to take place) rain or shine. Explorers hike, canoe, tube and rock climb to various locations. Some additional fees are charged; no half-days; no age exceptions; minimum of 5 pre-registered children required for the program to take place. Teen Connection programs are offered at varying times during the year. These programs typically last for several hours and are free of charge. Call the resort of specific dates and times. Babysitting Services are available at Wintergreen through a placement service arrangement. For a small placement fee, the Activities Department will arrange for a sitter to come to a guest's home or condominium. A 3-hour minimum is required. Sitters are not guaranteed, and must be requested at least 48 hours in advance. WILD Nature Camp (Wilderness Interactions Lead to Dreams for ages 6-12) are weekend and holiday programs to help children learn about nature through hands-on activities such as, exploring nature for clues about rocks, water, plants, amphibians, birds and Native Americans. OWLS Adventure Camp (ages 12-16) from August 5th-9th: The Outdoor Wilderness Leadership School (OWLS) is 5 filled days of rock climbing and rappelling, kayaking, mountain biking, camping and backcountry travel. Private Child Care: Childcare in private accommodations can be arranged (placement/referral fee charged and rates from $9 per hour with other stipulations). Awesome Kids' Parties: The Wintergreen staff puts on 2-hour wacky, wet and wild water sports or beach parties at the Blackrock Pool or Lake Monocan with craft parties, circuses or Fun Olympics at the Treehouse for ages 3-12. There are themed pony ride parties, too (Indian dress-up ponies or unicorn pony outfits). There are tennis clinics for kids offered at Wintergreen. Special riding camps, as well as tennis and golf programs for kids and teens are also offered. Wintergreen's Treehouse Children's Programs are extensive and vary by season. For more details, call the resort or visit the resort's website. Golf: Golf is one of Wintergreen's strong points, with 45 holes of championship golf and a silver medal from Golf magazine. Wintergreen's 11,000 acres extend from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the valley below, allowing the resort to offer two distinctly different golfing experiences. In the summer, golfers can take refuge in the cool breezes of Devils Knob, the highest course in Virginia at nearly 4,000 feet. Temperatures on the Devils Knob course are generally 10-15 degrees cooler than those in the valley. In the valley, on the other hand, guests can generally golf year-round on the nationally ranked 27-hole Stoney Creek course designed by world-renowned golf course architect, Rees Jones. Free shuttle service is available to transport guests between the top of the mountain and the valley - about a 20-25 minute drive. The veteran staff of golf professionals has extensive experience in hosting and coordinating local, regional, state and national golf tournaments. Golfers may wish to take advantage of Wintergreen's value-packed "Stay and Play" 2 to 7-night packages for couples or foursomes. The Wintergreen Golf Academy also offers 3, 4 and 5-day clinic packages. Golf groups of 16 or more can enjoy additional discounts and professional staff assistance. Wintergreen also offers junior golf clinics and a Junior Golf Camp. Tennis: For 16 consecutive years, Wintergreen's Tennis Program has been rated by Tennis Magazine as one of the nation's top 50 tennis resorts. Most recently, TennisResortsOnline ranked Wintergreen as the number 5 Tennis Resort and number 2 Tennis Academy in the country. The Devils Knob Tennis Center offers both Deco-Turf indoor and Har-Tru outdoor courts, and four outdoor Har-Tru courts are also located in the valley at Stoney Creek. During the summer months, Wintergreen offers its Mighty Mite Junior Tennis Clinic for children ages 6 and under, and a Junior Tennis Clinic for kids ages 7-14. Hiking and Nature Programs: Wintergreen has 30 miles of marked hiking trails, many of which provide spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Three not-to-be-missed views are the Wintergreen Overlook off Wintergreen Drive, the Blue Ridge Overlook off Devils Knob Loop, and the breathtaking views from the Plunge, about a 1/3 mile walk from Blackrock Circle. The Wintergreen Nature Foundation (TWNF) runs year-round programs and guided hikes, and maintains an award-winning nature center at the Trillium House. Swimming: Wintergreen's outdoor pools are a great place to escape the heat on hot summer afternoons, while the indoor pool and hot tubs beckon on cool fall nights. The Wintergarden Spa features both indoor and outdoor pool, as well as hot tubs and locker facilities. Outdoor pools are also available behind the Mountain Inn and in the valley at Stoney Creek. If you plan to take your family to the pool during the week in the hot summer months, plan to bring your own refreshments as snack bar service is only available on the weekends. From mid-June to early August, 4-day Red Cross swim lessons are offered by licenses WSI instructors to non-swimmers through advanced levels (Monday - Thursday for 45 minutes, rain make up day is Friday). Private half-hour swim lessons can be arranged. During the summer months, lifeguards are on duty to supervise swimmers at Lake Monocan, the 20-acre lake in the valley. Other Activities and Amenities: Wintergreen's spa services include a variety of massages and body treatments, as well as pedicures, manicures, and facials. Guests must be 18 to use the spa on their own, but younger teens can receive treatments with a parent's written permission. Wintergreen's adventure park, the Out of Bounds Adventure Center, offers a slew of adrenaline-pumping activities, including in-line skating, mountain biking, paintball, the new bungy trampoline, a 25-foot climbing tower, basketball, volleyball, and a skateboard park with half-pipes and quarter-pipes. The Out of Bounds rental shop provides trail maps as well as the finest names in sporting and safety gear. Out of Bounds is open during the spring, summer, and fall months. Boating and fishing are also offered at Lake Monocan. In addition to the resort's amenities, a wide variety of weekly activities are also offered. Activities vary significantly by week and by season. Check the resort's website or call the Activities Department (ext. 8180) to find out more about the specific activities planned during the time of your visit. • Emil was very welcoming and accommodating. I asked him if there was a firepit, and although he didn't have one when I asked he brought one in for us, which made us feel special. He put a lot of work into making sure we knew where everything was and how to operate most things. He also provided us with a nice not and a basket of snacks! The listing was accurate with a beautiful neighborhood

  • Beautiful deck & surroundings! Nothing but peace & quiet. Quite a hail up the mountain, but very tranquil.

  • Marguerite & Emil were wonderful hosts, quickly responding to all questions. Their chalet had a personal touch from the gift basket of goodies, to the exact number of chairs made available for my family. We created some lifelong memories during our weekend here at Wintergreen.

  • Awesome time at Emil's place

    Julian2016-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of space and amenities, good location if you want to be on the mountain. Cooperative host, provided lots of information in advance.

  • We had a wonderful time at your home! The house was fully stocked with everything we needed including condiments, coffee and sugar and keurigs in every room. The house was located in a great spot close to the pool, golf course, spa and hiking trails. We felt we had plenty of privacy nestled in the woods and the fire pit and guest pass was an added bonus! Thank you for being so responsive and helpful during our stay! We will definitely recommend your home for future visits!

  • Extremely comfortable house in a beautiful setting. Thoughtful touches to make your stay more comfortable and fun; games, outdoor furniture and grill, kitchenware and coffee, tea. Hosts were also very responsive and made the visit very easy.

  • Emil's place was very centrally located. There was plenty of room and an ample kitchen. For game and movie aficionados there was an abundance of choices. The kitchen was large and well equipped. It's a great place for a large family gathering.

Two floors of flat-out fun and luxury for the price of an ordinary guest accommodation. Your own private building, complete with lounge, snack bar, WIFI work space, fully-equipped kitchen, one and a half bathrooms, and a swivel screen TV downstairs. My place is close to restaurants and dining, family-friendly activities, public transport, nightlife.
There's no guest accommodation anywhere quite like The Storefront. Unlike a room in a hotel or a B&B, you can entertain guests or just have lots of extra space to stretch out. Its like having your own small townhouse in the heart of the historic district! (FYI, Friday and Saturday nights always book together)
There's no more centrally located guest accommodation downtown, so literally everything of interest in town is just minutes away on foot.
  • Great location and comfortable clean and fun.

  • Great place centrally located in downtown Staunton. Walking distance to great restaurants and shops. The place is very quiet and private even though it has such a great location in the middle of everything Staunton has to offer.

  • This is the perfect place to stay in Staunton! I thought it looked so charming and quaint in the photos and it was even better in person. Terry was great with communication, quick responses and the space was so crisp, clean and inviting. We got there after a long, long day of being stuck in interstate traffic and it immediately revived my spirits and brought a smile to my face to enter such a welcoming home. Can't recommend it enough!

  • Such a wonderful time. We always love a quick stop in Staunton when passing through. Terry's place was perfect for our needs and adorable! Can't wait to stay again soon!

  • The Storefront is fantastic. It is a cozy spot and the location really makes it. I enjoyed pretending I was a bartender as well.

    John2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Storefront is a sleek, quirky, edgy yet vintage urban apartment with a lot of character. Walk in the front door and you face a large, handsome bar with a beautiful wooden counter. On your left is a red vinyl sofa that extends into a bed under duress. Wind your way past the bar to a flight of steep stairs that leads up to a beautifully renovated upper floor. On the top floor, tall windows allow daylight (and chilly winter air) to flood the bedroom. A handsome cotton bedspread in a deep plum color covers the bed. A fascinating collection of paintings adorns the wall, all cityscapes and landscapes suffused in the azures and ochres of warmer climes. An artist’s model horse guards the stairwell. The kitchen is nestled between bedroom and bathroom and well stocked with spices. I can’t tell you what the amenities were like because I gravitated immediately towards the café and corner store named Cranberries across the street, clearly a local meeting point. The shower proffers plenty of hot pressurized water, and guests with temperamental hair will appreciate the Aussie shampoo and conditioner provided. I was thankful for the washing machine and the dryer tucked away in the downstairs bathroom, and intrigued by an intricate ink drawing signed by your host. Practical considerations: “Free parking on premises” is not true. Park in the New Street Parking Garage, 35 South New Street, Staunton, zip code 24401. Parking will cost you a maximum of $6 per day. The second bed is a sofa-bed in a common area, not a bed in a second bedroom. A space heater makes the downstairs area tenable in the winter, but don’t expect the second bed to offer much privacy or comfort. When you book the Storefront you are paying for a central location in historic downtown Staunton, not for a lot of floor space.

  • The Storefront is a real jewel! Clean, comfortably appointed, fantastic location. Check-in and check-out were effortless. With covered, inexpensive parking right across the street, coffee shops and restaurants just steps away, the apartment's location could not be more convenient for exploring historic Staunton. We only enjoyed one night here but could have easily spent a week exploring the city and the surrounding countryside. Highly recommended.

    John2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the tiny hotel. We suggested that shower is unclogged it made taking a shower very unsanitary. Also the side of the kitchen could have been a little cleaner and needs more toilet tissue we ran out after a day and a half. Overall we liked the place and loved the location. Terry definitely should work on the improvements to make your stay more enjoyable.

High on a hill, this 1877 Gothic Revival Victorian overlooks Staunton and the mountains. Light-filled, airy and quiet. Property backs up to Woodrow Park, which leads to the Sears Hill pedestrian bridge and downtown. Beautiful views of the city.
This old house is undergoing a complete renovation. The two-story apartment is finished and ready for guests. A complete kitchen and living/dining area are on the first floor with a large covered porch. Upstairs includes a 4-piece bathroom with jetted tub & two-person shower, laundry, walk-in closet and balcony with mountain views. Did I mention the jetted tub?

  • This was our third stay and as always, it was wonderful. We love the neighborhood - it is a short and beautiful walk to downtown, where there is a great Farmers Market, delicious restaurants, and neat shops. We also got to meet Shea and Rus on this trip, who were very welcoming, had lots of great food suggestions, and made sure we had a comfortable stay.

    Megan2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay at the apartment. The place was very clean, comfortable and nicely done. Everything we needed (and more) was there. It's a perfect location to walk into Staunton - about 3-5 minutes and you are right in downtown but the location is very quiet. We loved the porches. Shea and Rus were there to welcome us and it was great to see the work they are doing in the house. We hope to return to see it some day.

    Cindy2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Shea and Rus' apartment! It was very close to town, via a scenic pedestrian bridge that gave a beautiful view of downtown Staunton. Shea was super accommodating, making getting in and getting settled very easy. The apartment was wonderfully clean, quiet, and comfortable, with a relaxing porch off the bedroom where I did a quick hour's worth of work on my laptop and enjoyed the view before we went to explore Staunton. In the morning, we enjoyed the fresh fruit, granola bars, and tea that were provided (milk and both brew and instant coffee were also provided). We would definitely stay again!

    Victoria2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Shea and Russ's apartment. The apartment is spacious with comfortable seating inside and outside on the porches, and the bedding is also very comfortable. Perfect for a relaxing weekend.

    Debra2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed meeting and chatting with Shea and Rus. They are very gracious. The neighborhood is an older section of town and a short walk to a vibrant downtown with coffee shops, restaurants, and a farmers market as well as many places of historic interest. It was pretty quiet even on the fourth of July. The apartment is clean and we loved the kitchen and the back porch which is shaded most of the day. The upstairs is well laid out. There's plenty of storage space so you could use this as a base for a week or so if you wanted. We loved that we could bring our dog. The bed is an air mattress double bed which requires pumping up. If you like a firm sleep, the bed is not for you.

    Mosie2014-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience with Airbnb . How do I love thee, new apartment in old Victorian, let me count the ways. The well equipped kitchen, the two porches, the bedroom and bathroom UPSTAIRS (just like home) the short stroll into town. I could type another four hundred words of praise but I think I have already painted a perfect picture.

    Joan Elizabeth2014-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our week long stay in the apartment and in Staunton. Communication with Shea and Rus was excellent and the place is very comfortable, clean and equipped with everything you need. The location is very convenient to downtown Staunton. We hope to stay there again!

    Susan2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Shea and Rus's place was perfect for our stay in Staunton. The entire downtown area is allowable from the house and the two level porch is great for relaxing when the weather cools down. This is an excellent choice for any couple looking for a place to unwind
