Immersive activity in the favela of Rocinha

- ROCINHA A great walk for those who want to get to know the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, not to mention the great cultural background. Rocinha, in addition to being the largest favela in Latin America, has the diversity of Ethnias, countless shops and social programs. Visiting points: - Municipal market - Appian Way (community food hub) - Largo do boiadeiro - Light walk between the alleys of the community (it lasts on average 15 minutes), so we have contact with the clusters of houses and it is possible to have an anthropological look of the region. - Street of the famous Baile Funk Setting for beautiful photos, the artist Malu Vibe restored the place with beautiful art in graffiti. ( there you can see up close the structure set up to receive speakers and attractions, as it will be during the day it is possible that there will be a presence of traffic and there is no danger at all; they are in favor of fostering tourism in the community, a reality that outside the community cannot see or imagine exists.) - If you are not interested in seeing this reality or being close to those individuals, we may remove that area from the route. - Motorcycle ride to Alto da Rocinha. - Laboriaux gazebo - Laje Lá bella vista - An instagrammable wall for great photos at Mirante Rocinha.

Get to know Rio main attractions

In this experience, we will pick you up from your home* and take you to get to know the most important points of the city. We will begin immediately by visiting Christ the Redeemer (ticket included), to avoid queues and take the best photos; then the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, an artistic area with its exclusive tram and then the Selarón Staircase, one of Rio's most famous sights. From there we will go to the Metropolitan Cathedral, a unique building in downtown Rio. Afterwards, we visited Maracana Stadium from outside. We stop for lunch** * right after. After lunch we go to visit the Parque Lage. Parque Lage is a historic and cultural park located at the base of Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. While it is an independent site with its own history and attractions, Parque Lage is part of the Tijuca National Park, a vast protected area that includes one of the world’s largest urban rainforests. At the end you have two options: we can take you back home or drop you off at Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf) (ticket not included), where you can take a cable car up to the top of this magnificent hill. *Pick up and drop off in some areas of Rio's south zone. The tour starts in the middle of the afternoon at the pier in Urca near Bar urca. We will sail by the Fortress of São João, Fortress Laje, and Fortress Santa Cruz, and close to the Island of Boa Viagem in Niterói. There will be one stop point at Adão e Eva beach or Praia Vermelha, perfect for picture taking, and if you are interested in swimming! Then we will pass by the Museum of Contemporary Art and sail back with the amazing sunset view on the horizon. It's a walking tour in a group up to 4 attendees, in wich we will visit the main tourist attractions in downtown Rio de Janeiro, learning more about the city's history, local culture, and social issues. Your guide, besides having specialized training, has lived in the city since birth and closely follows the recent processes of urban transformation caused by both major events and changes in government. The tour will provide a local perspective on the controversies present in Brazil's main tourist capital. After all, is the city marvelous? From an aesthetic point of view, there is no doubt. But what can we say regarding the dynamics of social relations and their impacts on the urban organization of downtown? We will explore three major regions: Lapa, the Business District and the Port Area. Along the way, we will pass by landmarks such as the Selarón Staircase, Municipal Theater, Portuguese Reading Room, Colombo Cafe, Imperial Chapel, Bank of Brasil Art Center, Olympic Boulevard, Museum of the Future, among others. Starting with an exciting **MOTO TAXI** ride up the Favela. From here, we visit the ecological park, an oasis within the Favela. Built mainly from recycled materials with some truly special views of the south zone! Afterwards, we will go throughout the alleys of (25/14) called "Becos," where you will walk the surrounding areas home to a majority of locals. Meet and converse with residents and have the chance to better understand their lifestyle and the Favela. This part is extremely important and humbling as it's something you couldn't do without a guide. The locals here work hard on the beaches and streets. Cleaning the city and recycling. In restaurants as cooks and bartenders. Even drivers and couriers. People who usually visit the Favela just come for views and the clubs at the top. (even with a guide). These clubs have nothing to do with the Favela and its reality. Furthermore, a lot of culture, i.e., Sambas and choreography of funk to a lot of Art and Food are from the communities of Rio! Dont just book randomly, book ethically!

Little África and the Urban Quilombismo

I propose a relaxed walk through the region popularly known as Little Africa, which is in the seaport area of the City. Relaxed but full of reflections on racism, religious intolerance and about the Carioca culture. A great chat where the exchange of knowledge is always welcome. The walk lasts an average of 2/30 hours. During this period we will pass on tourist attractions that include the Historical and Archaeological Circuit of Celebration of the African Heritage, among others. I will present the region of Gamboa, known in the past as Health. I will also present numerous attractions that can be explored by you after the walk or at another opportunity, according to your disposition and enthusiasm. To make this experience happen, I have the help of Kelly Tavares, Raquel Oliveira, Eddie Vander, Thais Rosa, Larissa Mariana and Ryane Coutinho. They are all specialists in Afrotourism. When I can't be there for you, Kelly, Raquel, Eddie, Thais, Larissa or Ryane will guide you. Other things to note: wear light and fresh clothes, and comfortable shoes. The tolerance time is fifteen minutes. Be punctual!
