Use the lock box to gain access. A charming second floor apartment in Richmond’s desirable Fan District with beautiful southern exposure. A lot of the woodwork has been lovingly stripped to show the detail that was standard in houses circa 1910. The shutters and vintage ceiling details in the living room were added about 1980 and add to the architectural interest. The apartment has an eclectic collection of furnishings. 1 yr old house! Amazingly central Located in the arts district/Carver. This is blocks from VCU and right off of 95/64 15 minutes from the airport and just blocks from the new pulse bus line. Grocery store is about 2 minutes driving
This is my personal bedroom so naturally some of my things still live here. However, this is your space for your stay and your bedding is all clean and fresh and we hope you enjoy your stay. Comfortable queen bed that will rock you to sleep. Ceiling fan and blackout blinds to let you rest easy. Can use the living room tv/dvd player and also the kitchen.
Our favorite restaurants in the area are Lucy’s, Mama J’s, Savory Grain, and Max’s. Sugar shack donuts are a must! If you Fancy a cocktail we recommend Saison. For beer, you must go to Scott’s addition and try the local breweries. Don’t forget to check out the river at Belles isle or the pipeline. Also, a hidden gem, Lewis Ginter botanical gardens is a romantic getaway and they have a beautiful butterfly house.
  • This is a clean and beautiful home! The room I stayed in was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. A great stay and a great host!

    Mykaelah2020-03-04T00:00:00Z

  • Awesome place. Very much worth it

    Amanda2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean house and as advertised. Main thing I loved is how close it is to VCU because I travel for work so the location made my stay so much easier

    Christian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Good host, the place was as advertised. Would come again.

    Arjun2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the listing was better than I expected! Street parking was a little difficult to find on a week night, and the house is right on a busy street so there was some noise and light, but the blackout blinds and curtains helped a lot with that. The bed was super comfy, everything was sparkling clean, and the self-check in was a breeze. I would definitely stay again!

    Caroline2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very nice! I didn’t have any problems that needed to be addressed.

    Gage2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Charles was very helpful when needed, we arrived as he was in a meeting but he still provided us with advid instructions on check in and getting settled into our room. Made an already easy 1 night stay even easier.

I LOVED the coffee bar, complete with french press and milk frother. Beautifully decorated 1-bedroom apartment that is walking distance to tons of fun things to enjoy in the Fan. You will have the entire place to yourself including a huge bedroom with king bed &TV, living room with double-high queen air mattress (way more comfy than sleep sofa) and TV, bathroom and kitchen with microwave, fridge, stove, washer/dryer, etc. Also has a private lot for off-street parking. 2blocks from Carytown, 3blocks from VMFA, 3blocks from Byrd Park.
  • David’s place was spacious, comfortable and conveniently located on Cary Street close to bars and restaurants. While there were two sound machines in the bedroom, the noise from the street was apparent at times. The king sized bed was super comfortable. Check in was easy. We enjoyed our time in David’s apartment.

  • If you are planning a trip to Richmond, whether long or short term, you should definitely consider David's place. It's large and roomy, with a well appointed kitchen, washer and dryer, and a very comfortable bed. It's within walking distance to some really good places to eat and cool shops, and not far from the VMFA. It also has off-street parking, always a plus in my book. We found it to be a great value.

  • John’s place is spacious and immaculate. The kitchen was nicely stocked and I had a private parking spot next to the house. If your hungry, there is a great Cuban restaurant 5 minutes away. However, the best thing about John’s place, is John.

    Joni2020-03-06T00:00:00Z

    Billy2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable place to stay

    Gopal2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • John was super prompt on replying to my queries. The place is designed to be comfortable for short or longer stays -- laundry is available, some supplies for making coffee etc. I didn't need those but it was so good to know that was available. John and Samantha also put together a mini area guide, super welcoming for someone new to the area. The place is well located too, away from the busyness of town but only a 10min drive (or a walk and transit) to MCV etc. Will stay again!

    Chew Lin2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • John’s house is warm and welcoming. Smells clean and doors are secure. The bed is delicious; I’ve already booked my next four stays. Thanks again!

    Stacy2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This room is spacious with 2 closets and the en-suite bathroom makes it feel like your own apartment! Note that the two windows face the main street (the little bit of noise didn't bother me or disturb my sleep at all) and the mattress is a bit on the plush/softer side but that's the style I like (though I could see someone who likes a firm bed wishing it had more firmness to it). The bathroom was super clean and great communication from John and keypad entry on main door and room door made things so easy! Would definitely stay here again

Hilarious reading materials—the owner is obviously a traveler, CIA, or has a twisted sense of humor and varied interest, haha—in fact, maybe all the above! It was excellent. You could grab the 9/11 Committee report to read or learn about Russian Criminal Tattoos and their meanings (not for the faint of heart). Great location for downtown. Excellent amenities offered. Clean space and awesome that both bedroom areas had their own bathroom and shower/tub. Updated design and fixtures. Much bigger than you’d think too! I was so enthralled with the books and art collection, I didn’t even turn the large flat screen TV on. Would love to stay here again when I travel to Richmond occasionally. Felt safe inside!

Amazingly central to most places in Richmond Located in the arts district/Carver. This is blocks from VCU and right off of 95/64 15 minutes from the airport and just blocks from the new pulse bus line. Grocery store is about 2 minutes driving
Comfortable queen bed that will rock you to sleep. Ceiling fan and curtains to let you rest easy.

The house was spotless upon arrival and was kept at a very comfortable temperature. Kurt is very quick to respond to questions and is a great guy in general. Don’t hesitate to book here. I will be staying here again in the future.

    Sean2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This location was very easy to navigate in the city of Richmond. I arrived in the dark and parked right in front of the house and the directions to open the door and enter were perfect and the host left the light on so that I could see perfectly clear to my room. The room and the bathroom are renovated in today’s style and very clean. The host was very responsive to answer any questions I had. I highly recommend this location and this host. And I plan to return to this location over and over again. It is perfect when driving north to New York and south to South Carolina for me.

Step by step instructions for locating the place from the main road and then accessing the apartment. The apartment is in a great spot in Richmond, very close to local spots to explore. And the apartment was immaculate! So well prepared for a comfy stay. Thank you Tyler and Carol!

  • A very clean beautiful apartment. Next time we are in Richmond we will look to see if Carol and Tyler’s place is available!

    Lauren2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had little midweek Richmond getaway planned and loved the location of Carol’s place. So many things to do and places to eat right in the downtown /Fan area. The unit was very clean and super cozy. The waterfall shower is amazing. Really the only “negative” thing might be if you are a really tall person (taller than my 6’4”) you will definitely have trouble with the low ceilings and entrances ! Also, the communication was excellent regarding our stay and anything we might need. We would definitely stay at Carol’s place again when in Richmond.

Light up the fire and lie back on the huge sectional sofa in a reimagined interior of massive windows and soaring ceilings. Industrial-style elements add authenticity, while new features include a twin-vanity bathroom with marble countertops.
Just step out the door to come to Monument Avenue, while restaurants, brewhouses, and boutiques at Scotts Addition and Fan Carytown are within walking distance. In addition, the GRTC Pulse a block away offers easy access further afield.
  • We loved Jill’s spot and can’t wait to come back! It was the perfect way to visit Richmond for the first time - her place is well located, beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The welcome donuts were a wonderful surprise :) She was proactive about communicating, responsive, and easy to reach. Highly recommend!

  • I absolutely loved this space! The owners were super easy to work with. I felt super safe and the space was so stylish and interesting. I adored the historic feel about the building and the gorgeous original windows. Great to have parking right on the property. I had a minivan and it was fine and it was within walking distance of Starbucks and 7-11 if I needed something quick. I was there for an event and I was close to everything. If I need to head to Richmond again - I will definitely stay here again!

    Tom2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place close to VCU. Clean, quiet, easy to find and seemed to be in a nice area of town. Cat in the common area was very friendly and enjoyed playing with her even though I’m not even a cat person. Tara was also nice and welcoming. She went above and beyond as a host. The shared bathroom was only shared with one other person it seemed and I was able to use it whenever I needed to. Would recommend her place to future travelers looking for a quiet place to stay.

The Manchester Residential and Commercial Historic District is located in the city of Richmond, Virginia, on the south side of the James River. It is connected to the financial district in Richmond by the Lee, Mayo and Manchester bridges. In the 1800s, Manchester along with Richmond, had become a major port and commercial center serving the eastern seaboard and beyond. Manchester was granted city status in 1874 and became the seat of Chesterfield County. In 1910, the city of Richmond annexed Manchester.

  • This location cannot be beat! I lived in Richmond for four years and was still pleasantly surprised how close I was to so many great restaurants, coffee shops, and attractions. I had to walk through a small alley to get to the front of the building (the lockbox is not on the back door where you park) but other than that, getting into the unit was a breeze. Although the posting says there is not assigned parking, there actually was a parking spot that was clearly labeled for the apartment number I stayed in which was very helpful as parking in that area of the city can be hard to come by. The apartment itself is located in a very old building. Fortunately, I enjoy the character these old buildings have to offer, including creaky old wood floors. If you are looking for something super modern, and up-to-date, this location is not for you. David's place was very cozy (it was a cold day and the heat was already on and ready for me). The furniture, including the bed, were comfortable. There were plenty of snacks and bottled water available which I appreciated after a long drive into the city. Although, the bedroom is located right next to a busy street, I barely heard anything as David has installed a white noise machine which cancelled out pretty much all chatter or automotive noise. This apartment is very roomie and manages to feel both large and cozy at the same time. Pretty much anything you may need is available...microwave, stove, washer/dryer, etc. are there if you need them. David was an excellent communicator and was very quick to respond when I had questions. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Richmond.

    Christopher2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • I love this place because the apartment is huge and location is walking distance to everything. Plus David is such a great host, I’d recommend any of his places but this one is my personal favorite.

  • This place is so nice! Clean, spacious and in a perfect location for a stop on our drive from NJ to FL with our dogs. This is our second time staying here and it’s on our list of favorites. The decor is modern with beautiful wood touches , the bed is very comfortable and the shower space is welcoming after a long day of travel. The neighborhood and nearby park are perfect for walking. Great coffee shop nearby. Brittany is a wonderful host!

    Tammy2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to stay. The place is so cute, very clean, smells great and the location is amazing. There were fresh flowers and live plants in the house and coffee for us. We will be back again.

    Lauren2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This guest house was absolutely stunning! This spot was in an ideal location—just steps from great birding spots and delicious food at neighboring restaurants and bakeries. Parking was a breeze and I felt secure being able to see my vehicle from the guest house (plus the neighborhood is super safe). Brittaney provided tons of recommendations at check-in. She truly went above and beyond by providing an early check-in despite a late check-out by the previous guest. Both my pup and I felt right at home. I would come back in a heartbeat and wish I could have stayed longer!

  • Beautiful cottage - quick drive to downtown richmond! Lots of local recommendations :) Awesome stay!

  • Great place to stay! Quiet, adorable neighborhood. Close to local eats, park, and downtown. Guest house was perfect! Bright, airy, and comfortable. Highly recommend!

    Starr2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great space. I traveled with my husband, eight month old daughter, and two large dogs and Brittaney's space worked perfectly for us. This airbnb made traveling easy as there was coffee and a pour over, shampoo, a pack n play, and a water bowl for the dogs. Little Nickel and Laura Lee's were great dinner spots; the ability to walk to trails from the airbnb is outstanding. I would definitely recommend this airbnb to anyone traveling to RVA.

    Kristen2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Brittaneys guest house is beautiful and exceeded expectations!

    Collin2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. This space is fantastic! Serene, wonderful craftsmanship, beautifully designed, lots lovely touches, wonderfully framed windows that capture the sky and trees throughout. The location is exceptional. This was the last night of our road trip along the east coast with our four month old pup and we were contending with some severe weather along our route (rain and 20-50 mph winds). Our hosts were kind enough to tag team the turnover from the previous guest so we could check in an hour earlier which made such a big difference given our puppy and the weather we had just driven through. We were ready for a reset and to make the last night of our road trip a special one and that it was - thanks to our amazing hosts. Not only was the space amazing but their suggestions of where to go were exactly what we needed and made our stay so special. We enjoyed lunch at Lunch and Supper (first meal out with our pup), walked on a trail along the James River (just minutes from the house), had a lovely and delicious dinner at the charming Laura Lees and delicious, coffee, cinnamon bun and breakfast sandwich at the quaint WPA coffee house. We want to come back and do this (and more) all over again!

  • No complaints. She was easy to communicate with, her place is quite nice. She worked with me to hold my luggage while I was doing an interview which I appreciated. Her house is about a mile from VCU medical campus and two miles from museums and local breweries.

    Thien2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tara's place was impeccably clean. The washrooms were amazingly stylish - chandelier in the half washroom below wow ! Location is good with plenty of restaurants nearby and safe as well. Tara is meticulous and everything is well thought of put on paper so that there is no ambiguity. Her dogs and cats are also trained not to bother ;). Would certainly stay there the next time I happen to travel to Richmond again

  • Arguably the best Airbnb I have stayed in recently. Tara has a talent for decorating and has very tasteful touches. The room was clean and artistic felt like I was sleeping in a museum. Only wish I could figure out the heater but it wasn’t that big of an issue. Tara gave clear instructions and was quick with the responses as well. Very glad I stayed here

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at Susanne's place. The location is literally across the street from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, which in turn is right next to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; and I quickly ambled several blocks down to Carytown, with its wide array of eateries, shops, and entertainment. Susanne is a tranquil, gracious, and helpful host, and her dog, Doc, is a gentle, friendly host pet! The home is charmingly appointed with eclectic decor and is full of interesting historic details, including a beautiful high wall of exposed brick. My room was spacious and inviting, fragrant with the aroma of eucalyptus and pine arranged in a vase on the dresser. Next to it was a guest book holding needed notes about the place and a welcoming tray with a water pitcher, cups and mugs, and a little snack pack. There were some excellent books on the nightstand and a nice floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door opening out onto a colorful balcony where one can sit, if one has the time! The house was incredibly quiet and peaceful the whole time, with just Susanne, Doc, and one renter. It was a rejuvenating experience, and I'm already looking forward to returning and exploring more of Richmond.

Beautiful historic house in the Fan. Despite being a quiet residential area, the Fan is walking distance to some of the best restaurants in the city. Eat breakfast on our beautiful terrace shaded by a 150 year old tree. Visit the museum or the movies without the car!
I am a musician and have salon concerts given by the best classical and acoustic musicians in the city.
Our neighborhood is amazing! We have concerts in a small secret garden a block away from our house. You can get a glass of the best prosecco and tapas around the corner and visit our museum up the street. Carytown is minutes away on foot with local artisan stores, turn of the century cinema and amazing restaurants, bars and cafes.
  • Superb location , wonderful uniqueness of house amidst neighborhood of fine architecture and wide streets - just around corner from the magnificent Fine Arts Museum , minutes away from Cary and bountiful restaurants etc ... very welcoming host, such a comfortable room and welcoming to our grateful dog ! Would unreservedly recommend ...

  • A large and warm house within 5 min walk to Museum of Fine Art. Great place to live!

    Henry2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was just as described. A beautiful historic home located in a great area and within walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Carlytown. My bedroom was upstairs and was very clean, super comfortable and stylish. Gabrielle was very nice and you I even had the pleasure of hearing her singing :) . Fred was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. The stay felt like i was visiting family. The walls are a bit thin so if you're hoping for absolute silence, probably not the place. It was not distracting or disturbing, but just something to note. Overall, great place, good price, and the location/neighborhood/house/hosts couldn't be better. I wish i had more time!

  • The studio is small but the furniture is well placed and it still feels spacious. The location is excellent, close to supermarket and drugstore, and extremely safe. It was very quiet during day and night. The bathroom was good and the shower was great. We had plenty of towels and toilet paper. The kitchen had everything we needed and enough space to store our food. The TV had Netflix and was conveniently placed next to the bed. The bed was ok, the pillows were plenty and comfortable. We did miss having a nightstand. Instead we had to use the dining table, which was fortunately big enough. Also, the heater was placed next to the door, which we believe made it difficult to completely heat up the studio. The place had nice amenities like hair dryer, plastic bags, some cooking ingredients like oil, sugar and salt, and also soap. We also loved the available snacks. The host was very friendly and helpful, and always answered us very quickly. She also gave us nice recommendations about the city. We definitely recommend this place and would stay there again.

  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely short stay at Jessica's place. Cute, stylish, clean. Plenty of extra towels and blankets. Easy to get in and out with the keypad code. Safe, cute area, walkable to lots of fun places. If you like to spread out in your space as a couple, this may not be the place for you, since it's a relatively small space.

  • RoseMarie is indeed a super host! We had never done an Airbnb with shared spaces before and were not sure we would like, but this home was just beautiful, and perfectly set up for hosting multiple guests, with many little touches that made us comfortable and welcome. The house is in a gentrifying neighborhood of Richmond that is a very short Uber ride to many, many excellent restaurants as well as historic and museum districts. Could not have been better; we will be back!

  • Super great value. First time renting a room versus an entire space. Wasn’t bothered at all and was left to mind my own business. Exactly what I needed.

  • Beautiful space and a great value! The neighborhood was fun and lively. Parking was available and easy 😊 thanks for the perfect place to rest our heads during my birthday mini getaway!

  • What a great place for a great deal. I was a little scared of getting a basement apartment for a bnb, used to having whole buildings with other rental experiences, but we were in town for the night and weren’t spending a lot of time in the room, so we figured why not and let me tell I wish we spent more time in there. It was quaint, nicely decorated. Very clean. You could hear minimal foot traffic upstairs and the doggo, but not bothersome for me or my S/O. Highly recommend for a short or even prolonged stay!

  • 10/10 Would Book Again!!! 5 STARS!!! Kinsey and Matt were the best hosts we could’ve asked for! Both were very friendly and made excellent suggestions for activities and places to eat around Richmond. The living quarters surpassed our expectations in every sense. It was larger than we thought, cleaner than we thought, and easy to access without disturbing anyone else in the home. Check-in and Checkout was a breeze, and the place also smelt like lavender. When we first arrived, we were surprised to see a basket full of treats waiting for us on our bed. (Thanks again for the bouquet of flowers and Starbucks gift cards!) As I said earlier, this simple act of kindness had already skyrocketed past our expectations. But the magnificent hospitality did not stop there. That night we happened to run into Matt on our way out to dinner. We spoke for awhile and turns out we had a lot in common (Racketball, bird watching, etc.). Matt invited us in to have dinner. We were blown away by his cooking skills. He prepared a lovely spread of Foie gras seasoned with Himalayan Salts (he had collected while traveling) complimented by slow-simmered burgundy beef stew. We shared food and many laughs before capping the night off by opening a bottle of wine (Penfolds Grange Hermitage 1951). We awoke the next morning in a bit of a drunken stupor from the wine (and cocktails I forgot to mention), but not to worry because as we were leaving we ran into Kinsey! She convinced us to come back in and cooked us a delicious breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice (she knows the best orange supplier east of the Mississippi). It is also worth noting she provided us with healthy vegan options. It was the perfect ending to a quick getaway. Thanks again Kinsey and Matt!

  • FANtastic option for those looking for a Fan location. Easily take a quick walk to cute eateries and nightlife or a longer stroll/quick ride to both Carytown and downtown. Exactly what I was looking for, for my budget!

  • Had a great one-night stay here. Early check in, hosts were accommodating with every request. Loved the character of the neighborhood - great location for exploring the city - and the place was clean, comfortable, modern, and simple.

    Steven2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a great little place! It is the perfect size for two and a sweet getaway. The mattress is incredibly comfortable and the whole place was so clean. The location is so excellent - my boyfriend and I visited without a car and found ourselves staying mostly within walking distance of the house the whole trip. It's walkable to art museums, music venues, Carytown shopping and food, and loads of other stuff. Kinsey and Matt are very hospitable and responsive to messages and requests. The space is very private and homey.

  • Wow. David’s place is wonderful! The location is fabulous; we got settled into the apartment and walked across the street to Kregger’s and had a glorious dinner. The apartment has so much character for an older building, and David has such nice touches with throughout. The iPad in the kitchen says “welcome guest” and has tons of information about local restaurants and things to do in the area. It is evident that David is a super host.

Ceiling fan and blinds to let you rest easy.
  • Everything was excellent! I would definitely recommend this spot!
