  • A beautiful tiny cabin on the water. Was very clean and Cindy was always available if we needed anything. Would love to go in the summer as well!

  • The Boathouse was an amazing little getaway from the city. Not much around was open which we expected in the middle of winter. We had such a lovely chat with our hosts who had lots of local activity recommendations which we really enjoyed.

  • A beautiful home over a lake that is bar none one of the greatest views to wake up too.

  • Cindy was the best host! She responded very quickly to all and any of our needs. She also let us borrow snowshoes and games. The boathouse is the most beautiful little cabin we've ever stayed in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone!

  • Cindy was a fantastic host and we loved our stay! The boathouse was cosy, warm and in a great location. The bed was really comfortable and the place was super clean. Cindy gave us passes for Algonquin park and snowshoes. We loved exploring the area and would love to come back sometime. Highly recommend the boathouse and Cindy as a host!

  • The Boathouse is such a treasure! I am so grateful that I found this cottage for a solo retreat. This was my first time at Golden Lake and this will not be my last. If you are looking for a place to rejuvenate, write, work on a creative project, reflect or take a break from urban living, this is the perfect spot. This is exactly what I was able to do during my stay at the Boathouse. Some of my highlights: waking up to the sun, seeing the sunset, chats with Cindy, visiting and eating at the Cottage Cup! The Boathouse is so beautiful and their are unique touches in and out. The bed was super comfy as well! Cindy is such a beautiful host, who made me feel so comfortable and was quick to reply to my messages. She lives across the street, which was very convenient. She provided suggestions during my stay and even provided an extra lamp for my writing at night. On my last day, I wasn’t ready to leave, and I was able to book another cottage at Greystone with Cindy. So grateful that I spent an extra day here. I will definitely be back! :)

My cozy little Glamping Nook is right on Lake Erie and is a huge step up from camping but still a rustic and simple experience. Keep cozy by the wood stove, gather a book from the ceiling high bookshelves, or bust out one of the board games you loved to play as a kid. I’ve got a plethora of nostalgic video games & movies for indoor days. Outside you can take in the sunset or sit & bond around a campfire. You're in for an experience here.
Don't let other listings in our area fool you, I am RIGHT on Lake Erie which means you have full views from your space and direct water access down a break wall and into the water. There's nothing like sitting in front of a campfire with the lake as your backdrop. And with no city lights to pollute the night skies we get the best view of the stars. Please be aware that I am really remote, especially if you’re a city dweller there’s no “shopping” or “bar hopping” or that type of thing. It’s a place you come to unplug. If you've ever dreamt of living in a little log cabin somewhere or being off grid, here's the perfect opportunity to see what this lifestyle is all about! The Nook has so many offerings I hardly know where to start. I’ve been told that it’s cozy, quaint, eccentric, inspiring, comforting & romantic (to name a few). You’re sure to be touched by the Nook. Unlike other Air BnB listings I am sharing *MY* personal space with you which means you get an *experience* not just a place to lay your head. The Nook is beyond relaxing. You'll cozy in & finally find the time you've been needing to read, write, play music or just take in the beauty of your surroundings. The Nook consists of an open space with a double bed piled with pillows so you can sit up & play games or watch a movie. Please note that there is no box spring so the bed is low and cozy (in case you have mobility issues). There's cozy double seating by the fire. Behind the living space is a small kitchen area with all the basic supplies (pots, a pan, kettle, Keurig coffee maker, cutlery, dishes etc), a microwave, small bar fridge, toaster oven, pizza oven & seating area for two. There is no running water in the Nook but I’ve taken care of your water needs by having a hand pump water station that you can use for cooking, washing up, or to make tea or coffee. You might want to bring your own drinking water. I have an outdoor camp style kitchen around the back of the Nook with a propane BBQ & Coleman stove. There is an outhouse with hand sanitizer a few steps outside of the bunkie. During the winter months the wood stove is enough to heat the space nice and toasty, just keep in mind that you will have to venture outside for the outhouse and to restock your wood. In the summer months the breeze off the lake keeps things comfortable. There is also a dehumidifier. Spring & fall are they're absolutely perfect with the best of both worlds, warm enough to venture outside, and cool enough to still need the wood stove for a romantic night in the snug warm heat. I presume you’re coming to unplug, get quiet & connect to nature but if you’re looking for WiFi, hot showers, & shopping, the Nook may not be the right fit for you. We’re out here all peaceful & remote enjoying the stars, the birds, and the fresh air with simple way of being. There is a Conservation area about a 5 minute drive down the street with showers. If you non challantly go in, you can use their facilities, otherwise bring chemical free soap and bathe in the lake. They are only open from the May long weekend until thanksgiving. Otherwise, showering is not an option. THINGS TO BRING -Water shoes & a towel for swimming -Drinking water -Salt pepper and cooking oil for cooking (due to the temperature changes I don’t provide these). -Tupperware or metal containers for your dried goods for night time as there is a mouse that sneaks in from time to time. I can't catch him, but have tried. -rubber boots if it’s wet season or rainy -warm clothes and layers for fall and winter seasons, it can get very cold -slippers -a canoe or kayak if you want to go Please note that there is no outdoor lock on the Nook, this is for insurance reasons with the wood stove. But not to worry you’re in a really safe and quiet community. There is a lock you can lock behind you when inside. ***Follow the Nook on Instagram glampingnook***
I am located in a quiet lakeside neighborhood full of nature lovers & laid back lifestyle. I hope you've come for the peace & quiet & along with that means you're no where near anything! Port Dover is a popular spot to visit during your stay. Large touristy white sand beach with lots of restaurant options. It's about a 20 minute drive away. Long Point is the best beach in the area and offers lots of conservation land. There's great bird watching, eco adventure activities such as zip lining & paddle boarding and even a special initiative to save the turtles & snakes. It's about a 50 minute drive, and well worth it. Selkirk Conservation is about 15 minutes away and have some simple trails and are waterfront. The town of Selkirk is the closest convenience store (where they also have a built in LCBO). Hoovers Marina is a short 7 minute drive away and offers great food, especially breakfast. They are on the water and have a nice patio. It is a seasonal spot. Call before going to ensure they're open. This restaurant is seasonal (late Spring to early Fall). The closest grocery store is in Hagersville up on Highway 6 before Sandusk, it is a No Frills and is open 10am - 9pm generally. It is half an hour away from us so we recommend picking stuff up on your way in. Simcoe has lots of "shopping" and all around Norfolk is a great place to go and check out farms, markets, and Fall fairs. There is some great dining around us. I suggest the Twisted Lemon in Cayuga, the Combine in Simcoe, Lago in Port Dover, David's in Port Dover, Hoovers Marina in Nanticoke, or the Barrel in Simcoe. Lots of Earth to Table and great atmosphere. Alternatively you can pick up Chinese food or Godfathers pizza in Hagersville on your way in or it is 30 minutes away. There is no Uber or food delivery. If that’s the kind of trip you’re looking for, you’re not looking in the right location. We are country remote. Godfathers in Hagersville will deliver but they charge $8 delivery and can take up to an hour and a half.
  • This place is such a hidden gem! So much nostalgia everywhere you looked. Great place for unwinding even in the winter. It was crazy windy out at night so using the outdoor kitchen (bbq and Coleman stove didn't work out well for us) so my tip is bring foods that can be reheated in a microwave or fit in the toaster oven, if you're visiting in the winter. Neighbour is cool guy too if you get the chance to chat with him. We will definitely book here again!

    Sarah2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing get away, full of the best nostalgia! A short drive from Toronto that makes you feel like you are in a whole other world.

  • Our night away was the perfect way to let go of a little bit of stress. Laura’s descriptions are very accurate and you get exactly what you signed up for. A cozy space with more than enough music, games, books, and DVDs. Thanks for sharing your space Laura!

    Grace2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Laura is a great host. Quick and kind communication. Understanding as we had to change our trip date. The cabin was stocked with fire wood and all the amenities that are promised in the listing. Our only issue was that the door was a bit hard to lock so we had to push a luggage against it to ensure it stayed shut since we stayed on a windy night.

    River Kenji2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great experience. Wear layers at night if you are staying during the winter.

    Vince2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Glamping Nook offers a wonderful retreat. I found a cozy fire waiting for me when I arrived on a sunny but cold winter day, and plenty of wood to keep me warm throughout the night. Loved the style of the cabin, its peace and simplicity. Laura is an excellent communicator and was cheerfully accommodating when I requested to come early, which was much appreciated.

    Sharon2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing little hidden gem. Perfect spot for a couple looking to unplug from our Daly lives. The record player was a great touch. And all the trinkets books are enough to keep you entertained. Basic kitchen so be prepared to bring microwaveable or pre made food. I’d recommend the nook to anyone looking to unwind for an evening

    Ryan2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the heck out of the Nook! It’s a cozy little treasure trove of awesomeness. Perfect for a winter night away. Zero complaints given. Seriously, we loved every little bit of the experience. (Even peeing in the outhouse.) :)

  • Great, cozy place for a couples getaway. The cabin was gorgeous, clean and decorated beautifully! Very quiet and peaceful in the winter, with a beautiful view of the sunset over the frozen Golden Lake. Cindy was a wonderful host and gave us some good recommendations for food and activities around. She let us borrow some snow shoes and skates to use on the property which was very convenient. Overall, definitely recommend staying at any of Cindys properties.

From snowshoeing on the lake, toasty fires in the wood stove and a visit to Silent Lake Provincial Park to walk some of their beautiful trails, this cabin gave us the relaxing, unplugged weekend we were looking for. • I spent an amazing weekend in this cozy cabin with a group of friends. It was very clean and comfortable on a nice property overlooking the lake. With a wood burning stove in the living room area, as well as heating, we were very warm through the snowstorm. This place is beautiful in the winter, and we hope to come back and stay sometime this summer. Stephen was very helpful before and during our stay, with prompt and thorough responses. Everything was as described, and the cabin had many thoughtful touches and provided everything we could have needed. The cabin sleeps around 6 people, and would work for a family or group of friends. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a cozy and relaxing getaway in nature.

DESCRIPTION: It is rare to have private enjoyment of over 200 acres of a waterfront farm with 2,000 feet of spectacular shoreline on pristine Desert Lake. Follow the horse trails through pasture and woods. See trees that have graced this land for hundreds of years unspoilt. This is true Canadian shield country. Bring a compass and a camera. The home is fully equipped for your vacation, four seasons of the year. The home has a sleeping loft with a king size bed and one small main floor bedroom with antique double brass bed. Linens and towels are always cleaned/sterilized off-site after each visit. Open concept kitchen/ dining /cozy living area with a woodstove. The cabin is ideally suited for a couple. However, 4 people- (two couples) can be easily accommodated. Wood is provided free of charge. Extensive rear decking for outside dining in warmer weather plus a wrap around covered porch. Unlimited WIFI access to stay connected to the outside world. Basic condiments, sugars , salt etc. etc. are provided. When staying at the log home you have access to 2000 feet of pristine and private waterfront on Desert Lake with 200 acres of field and forest for hiking and exploring. This is not a campground or resort. You will appreciate a very private time. The exclusive waterfront has a large floating dock with ladders and the water is very clean and exceptional for swimming. (During warm weather). Bring your own kayaks, canoes , boats or use ours. We have two kayaks and a canoe available with paddles and PFDs. If you have a motorized boat, there is a public boat launch about 3 minutes down the road, near Desert Lake Campground where Holleford and Desert Lake intersect. Get in the boats and explore Desert Lake, Mitchell Creek, Birch Lake and Kingsford Lake giving access by water to Frontenac Provincial Park. To access the private waterfront on the farm you can drive or enjoy a 5- 10 minute walk on a very attractive private lane. During the summer there are a few cows and horses on the property grazing on small pasture fields nestled amongst the trees. Most of the farm is pristine Canadian Shield forested terrain, interspersed with pasture. A naturalists delight. This is not a 'run out he back door and jump into the lake' setting. When it was built over 200 years ago, the inhabitants were more concerned about being close to their neighbours rather than an engaging water view. Be prepared to stroll down to the water's edge, or you can drive along the lane to park at the head of a 100 foot trail that takes you down to the 'boat launch' where a large west facing floating dock with a swim ladder is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. Four wheeling and sea-doos are discouraged. Snow mobiles are allowed when there is adequate snow, providing that operators stay on the prescribed trails. Notice is requested in advance from guests bringing snow machines. Desert Lake is one of the largest, cleanest, deepest inland lakes in Eastern Ontario. The lake is approx 4.5 miles long and the deepest spot is 232 feet. The average depth of the lake is 72 feet. Due to the cleanliness of the water and its depth, it makes for one of the premier Lake Trout fishing spots in Southern Ontario. The lake also produces northern pike, large and small mouth bass, yellow perch, crappies and lake herring. For the more adventurous, Birch and Kingsford Lakes can be accessed by a short canoe ride down Mitchell Creek. These lakes offer more wilderness oriented opportunities, like hiking and camping, as they border on Frontenac Park. Frontenac Provincial Park is within a 10 minute drive. The park has numerous hiking trails, dozens of lakes with excellent fishing and an abundance of wildlife. For more information on the park, contact Friends of Frontenac Park. Ten minute drive to Verona, where you will find banking, grocery including LCBO and Beer Store, restaurants, churches, library, medical building , hardware, Farmer’s food outlet ,convenience stores and much more. . Twenty minutes to the north are the quaint little town of Westport where you could spend an afternoon shopping. • This cabin really takes you back in time and the way it was restored is really impressive. There is so much land to explore, even in winter, you never get bored snowshoeing around. As for accommodation, the king bed in the loft was comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped, with everything you need for cooking ans baking. The bathroom was clean. The wi-fi was really good, we also had access to Netflix and a bunch of DVD's. The communication with Margret was flawless, she responded quickly and gave us great directions to get to the cabin. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, I really recommend this place for a nice getaway.

  • Great cabin in a beautiful location

    David2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Magret's cabin was excellent and we had an amazing time staying there. The photos of the cabin don't do it justice. There was a fire going when we arrived and a welcome gift with a note, which were all lovely touches. We used the snowshoes to walk the trails and see the beautiful landscape. Magret's local tips were spot on and we ended up at food less travelled twice! Loved staying here!

  • Magret is a thoughtful and gracious host. Her lovingly restored cabin was a great place for a winter getaway. We enjoyed snowshoeing on the large acreage as well as at nearby Frontenac Provincial Park. The cabin is clean, cozy and provides everything needed for a restful stay. We sure hope to return.

  • Great little cabin in a small town. This place offers a chance to be close to amenities but far enough away that it’s complete peace and serenity. The cabin is full of everything you might need and so cozy. Couldn’t be happier with our stay and we would definitely like to come back. Highly recommend!

  • It’s such a unique and beautiful place. Very cozy and peaceful as well. The host went above and beyond in providing the service. We loved it so much that we want to visit again in the summer.

  • If you want to get grounded and break away from the daily hustle and bustle this is the place to do it. One of the coziest environments I’ve ever experienced. The location and communication with the hosts was top shelf and the neighbouring downtown is fantastic to visit. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us! • We had a great time at the cabin, it’s the perfect place to disconnect. The place is very special with the firewood stove and the pond. We really enjoyed the experience. We will definitely come back in the summer :)

  • Super cool spot! Keep that fire going in the winter as much as possible. Got great photos. Very peaceful and quiet. Bill and his team were very very helpful and kind, made sure we were warm and taken care of well, lots of breakfast options available. Very private, but also has the option of going into the house and using wifi/plumbing! Unrelated - Do NOT eat at Cabin close by, horrible restaurant.

    Cassandra2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cutest little cabin ever!!! I loved our time here!! <3

  • Just spent a lovely weekend at this cabin and it was absolutely spectacular. Couldn't have asked for a better spot to spend our Valentine's/Family Day long weekend. Everything about it was perfect. From the location, wonderful hosts, to the cabin itself and all the well thought out details. Already planning to book this gem again in the summer! Can't say enough good things about this place, highly recommend it!

  • If you are looking for a weekend getaway, and some time getting back to nature while being close to some great restaurants and sites...this is without a doubt you place. The cabin was absolutely perfect. A couple of days "roughing it" in the heart of Winter, snow falling, tucked away from the main house so there was a ton of privacy. A day filled with snow shoeing, hiking and exploring the grounds. Very convenient location, within 10 minutes of a large assortment of excellent restaurants, and about 15 - 20 minutes from the spa at Millcroft. Probably one of the 2-day getaways within an hours drive from the GTA!

Utopia is truly a slice of heaven and is a peaceful and healing haven for those seeking relaxation and restoration of the body, mind and soul. I spent many days in the box car cabin and felt all the stress of the city melt away as I listened to the beauty of nature surround me. In terms of price, it was an exceptional value. I have yet to see a place offer so many amenities at this price. I also don’t use any toxic, chemical cleaners or products in my home, so to find a place where everything was natural was a huge bonus. The box car cottage is very comfortable and I had a restful sleep and enjoyed listening to the gentle sounds of nature sing me to sleep. I was able to maintain my healthy diet, enjoy a cup of tea, cook great meals (often with wild, organic food provided by Vera from her property) enjoy a dip in the spring pond and soak up some sun on the patio of the box car. I enjoyed taking showers and drinking the water, knowing that the quality is excellent and comes from a pristine artesian well located on the land. A friend of mine specializes in finding “great quality water” and when he had a dip in the spring pond, it was a taste of heaven and he verified the exceptional quality. There are lots of activities to enjoy at this lovely retreat. I had a wonderful time walking the large property, looking for and picking the most amazing herbs (like stinging nettle, thyme, sage, oregano, parsley, etc.) plus incredibly healthy, wild foods like mushrooms, fiddleheads, wild leeks etc. After picking a bag full of goodies, I proceeded to enjoy a beautiful session of yoga in the screened gazebo which overlooks a gorgeous view of the river and property. It is a breathtaking view and extremely tranquil. You can also meditate or read a book there. Then I proceeded to the river and used some of the rich and mineral dense mud by the shoreline and blissed out in the sun! What a great spa treatment; the same procedure would have cost at least $50-120 at a high end spa! I then took a divine dip into the spring fed pond and then went for a magical kayak ride to explore the land - you can canoe/kayak all the way to Wassaga beach so you can really have an adventure with this! There are some rare birds I saw in my travels on the property and all kinds of wildlife to marvel at, it’s truly an ongoing adventure with so much to experience. Other days I took a book and a blanket to sit by the cliff that has a breathtaking view of the lookout and Nottawasaga River. This is one of my favourite spots on the property! The view is priceless and the peace that surrounds you is beyond words. Finally, at night, I loved to take my flashlight and walk around the property to see the stars and enjoy some light exercise and fresh air. Then having a swim in their chemical free pool, hot tub and infrared sauna to end off the night was supremely satisfying! There are very few places that can provide a non-toxic environment, especially in pools, as Vera has done successfully. Everything is clean and it is such a great experience to be able to enjoy a hot tub or pool without worrying about chlorine and toxic chemicals. This was a real treat. I can’t say enough good things about this place - it is truly an experience you will not regret. Vera is an exceptional host and she goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and she leaves no stone unturned in terms of providing full and exceptional service and accommodations for her guests. She is very friendly and is also very knowledgeable about health, and creating a healthy and non-toxic environment. The place is remote enough that you feel one with nature, but also close enough to the city that you can easily get groceries or anything you desire minutes away. There is an organic restaurant five minutes away as well that is very delicious and will satisfy your craving for good, healthy food. If you get a chance to try Vera’s cooking, you are very lucky and will love her food! She is an amazing chef and a wonderful person that you can learn a lot from if you are interested in natural health, permaculture, foraging, yoga, etc. - Dee Sharma Very nice place! Full of nature: beautiful landscapes as forest, river, field, pond… Many wild animals we saw a deer, a porcupine, and baby birds just in one hours walk. We swim in the pond and that was really nice! Thank you very much for this experience at the Utopia Farm. - Oliver Utopia is a very nice and people are friendly. I like the way they live - healthy and they don’t worry about things. They are so many wild animals and beautiful forests too. We saw many in the night. I dreamt about them too. I learnt some knowledge about plants from them too. It is a very nice experience. Thank you! - Langeker
  • This was a great stay for my lady and I on our anniversary. The mood was chill and the land was soothing and relaxing. We took full ads vantage of the hot tub and pool. I’m not much of a pool guy, but seeing the swimming area was enough to make me want to jump in. We visited the nearby conservation area for more outdoor hiking, but even walking the land around the boxcar was enough to get a dose of fresh air. We are seriously considering coming during the warmer months to take full advantage of what this booking has to offer.

  • Great place to get out of the city and get back to nature and relax. Great for two. A little cozy for four in the winter, but still great if you’re close friends or family. Loved our stay.

  • Wow! Beautiful spot. It was stunning in winter, so I can only imagine the beauty of the summer in this location. Thoughtful touches throughout the boxcar, including fresh flowers. The pool and jacuzzi is where we liked to spend our time. I met Lucy and her husband and they were so lovely! Great communicators. Recommend this beautiful, relaxing spot to anyone looking to get away and recharge!

  • Exactly what we were looking for! Perfect place to get away and unwind. Really enjoyed the trails on the property, great for doing xcountry ski laps. The views onto Nottawasaga river are beautiful, especially with the gazebo overlooking the ravine. The hot tub is a great place to enjoy the sunsets. The boxcar itself is unique, well furnished and cozy. If you want a unique place to relax, this airbnb stay is a top contender.

  • Golshan’s place was an absolute dream. From the moment we walked in and smelled the soothing firewood to the last morning, when we finished up some of her great books, the overall experience may be the best we’ve ever had at an Air BnB. This place is a true oasis. Big windows, great books, a stellar view. If you’re looking to unplug and be in the moment, the Here & Now is the perfect spot. And we don’t use that word lightly. The bed was soft and the room nice and dark, the kitchen was big and well-equipped, the decor was thoughtful and — for us — deeply resonant. We share Golshan’s taste, from the Kehinde Wiley coffee table book to the 90s-centric DVD collection to the awesome little library of books. Even the Rumi poem in the bathroom is one of our favourites. The fireplace was an especially unique touch and made our winter getaway so deliciously cozy. My wife kept saying things like, “oh my god, these mugs! Oh my god, this book! Oh my god, this view!” We were absolutely thrilled and, though we’ve never booked an Air BnB twice, we’re already planning to come back. Thank you, Golshan, for sharing your little slice of heaven!

    Brian2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible experience. Golshan provides everything needed and more for an incredible weekend away!

  • Great place. Amazing view!!!! Many cute decorative touches. So private too, there are a lot of windows but no one nearby to see in. So bright in the morning

    Madelan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Golshan's cottage - The Here and Now PEC - is beautiful and very peaceful. We visited in winter 2020 with our 7 month old daughter and felt like you could very easily spend most of your PEC visit here - looking out at the view over the water from several of the different cozy seating areas. In fact, we did spend hours and hours during our baby's naps reading and drinking coffee on the daybed. If we'd visited in summer, I can imagine us doing the same thing, but with the overhead fans on and the windows open. The beds are comfortable with lots of pillows and the rooms are dark for sleeping. The water pressure is great and the washroom was warm (which is really nice when you get out of the shower in the morning). 10/10 I would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

    Melissa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space, beautiful view, clean and has everything you need for a great time!

    Michael2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Golshan's place was cozy, beautiful, clean, easy to find your away around, and located in a prime spot in PEC. As a host she is super friendly and responsive , as we needed her assistance with something late one night and she was still available to help us out. She really cares about the comfort of her guests and it really shows. Also, the house is very chic, beautifully decorated , and comes filled with all the necessities plus all entertainment you could ask for, classic games, movies, books , all that make for a perfect little getaway!

    Beri2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Golshan’s place, and we just loved it once again! It’s our favourite winter getaway - so close to great trails and super cozy. One recommendation I can give is to bring your own tea towels because only one is provided and more are needed for drying hands and dishes each day.

  • The Nook is magical! From the minute you pull up to the yellow door you can feel that you are at a special place. We felt immediately at home and comfortable in the open space. The living area with comfy couches & bohemian pillows is where we spent a majority of our relaxation and reading time. The fireplace and the windows that open onto a glorious lake view for sunrise is inspirational to wake up to. The loft bedroom has a comfortable and luxurious mattress with many pillows and a down duvet. Blessed with a couple of cloudless nights the stars put on a show from the hot tub. We took the opportunity to book the sauna and are so happy we did. It’s more than just a relaxing night or two away and more like a spa weekend. By chance we got to meet and talk to Greg a bit about the construction of the Nook and all the obvious love and care that went into design and renovation. We are so impressed that such a vision was brought to reality by Melissa and Greg! Thank you!

  • Melissa & Greg’s place was so perfect that we thought we’ve entered our dream for the stay. The place is so stylish and thoughtful touches can be found everywhere. We had the chance of enjoying both the sauna and hot tub and it was absolutely surreal. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience and we will definitely come back soon!

  • Good space, the view was fantastic and was very clean. Definitely a good spot to stay if you are in the City

  • Aplers place was awesome, it has a grest view of the city, located close to so many things, free parking which is hard to find in toronto and the Building itself was also great, i left my keys in the door and luckily they were still there in the morning ! Definitely recommend his place !

    Aaron2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place. I loved the views from balcony super duper

    Michael2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This location in Toronto is PERFECT! Great view, super close to all things we were interested in seeing and a block away from a Sobey's, which is a fantastic grocery store. The only thing we wish we knew about previous to going was that the mattress was really firm. It was actually shockingly firm. I guess some people like that sort of thing, but we are more into a squishier (word?) mattress. We ended up purchasing a mattress pillow top because we knew we wouldn't be able to sleep well for the rest of our stay and everything was fine. Alper responds quickly and was very helpful with a TV issue we had (one of the clickers was under the couch, which we found and everything worked fine after that). All in all we would rent this space again (which we probably will in the summer to go to a Blue Jays game), but we'll bring our pillow topper with us!

A private, light-filled cabin in the Ontario woodlands; secluded and romantic with full amenities, surrounded by nature, trails, and wilderness.
This open-concept cabin in Central Ontario is your cozy, comfortable on-grid retreat, surrounded by countryside and very private. Light , airy, and winterized it is available year-round. You'll only be a few minutes from shops and necessities but seemingly miles from civilization. There are 100 acres in which to roam, with trails, wildlife, fields and northern Ontario forest, nestled outside the northwest corner of Algonquin Park. ********Please read the description thoroughly before requesting a booking.******* Covid 19 Update to our guests: The safety of our guests and community is very important to us and, by following local and provincial health unit guidelines and recommendations for disinfecting, we are adding extra measures to our already stringent cleaning regimen. Despite being listed in Airbnb’s Eco-Friendly category we feel it is now necessary to use stronger and more abrasive cleaners and disinfectants for all our laundering and cleaning before each booking. These will be applied to all bed and bath linens and towels, surfaces, handles, taps, switches, remotes, appliances, etc. Also as a result of coronavirus, we have removed most of the books and board games so we recommend bringing your own. We also ask that when out and about in our community, you exercise the same cautionary measures as you would in your own and follow interaction guidelines. We look forward to hosting you. The cabin is equipped with one loft bedroom upstairs that has a queen bed and and a single daybed. The main floor has an open-concept kitchen/living area and full bathroom. There is a high-efficiency airtight wood-burning stove in the kitchen. Firewood is provided, however we typically shut it down for the warm season. Back-up heat includes a portable infra-red heater as well as baseboard heaters for those extra-cold days. It has hydro, running water, and a screened-in deck with outdoor wrap-around porch. We provide: bed linens and blankets/duvets, towels, kitchen utensils, LED TV, mini-stereo, bluetooth tivoli with radio, and DVD player. The Tv accepts USB keys/ports if you want to bring your own movies and shows. There is no basic cable services. The kitchen does not have a full-size oven but there is a mini high-end Breville convection oven which can roast a small chicken, and a 2-burner cook-top. There is a propane BBQ as well. If you truly want to get away from it all, this is the place for you. There is a cell phone booster, so depending on your provider, you could receive great service. We are with Telus/Bell and Fido/Rogers and can get full bars on the 3G network and occasionally the 4G networks. There is no wifi service; we have had guests in the past who have used their cellphones as hotspots. There is also wifi available at the Powassan library for a very low cost. There is a landline telephone on which you can receive long-distance calls but can only dial-out locally. There is an outdoor fire bowl to enjoy at night as well. You bring: Your own food HDMI and AV cords for movies and music appropriate clothing good non-slip slippers or indoor shoes (the floor can be chilly in winter) and although our water is 100% potable and tasteless, it is very iron heavy and some may have an aversion to it. The property is not on a lake but is very close to several lakes with public beaches, boat launches, and ice-fishing. There are also several extensive roads, trails and lakes throughout the crown lands next to our township. Airbnb has, for some reason, the cabin listed as ‘shared entrance’ but we assure you there is no shared entrance anywhere on the property; you have a private driveway right up to your private cabin. **A NOTE FOR WINTER OR EARLY SPRING STAY: A 4WD or good AWD vehicle is almost certainly a must as the driveway is quite long, and can take a day or two to get plowed. In early spring it can get slushy/muddy. Some experience using a wood-burning stove is also a must as it is the main source of heat. As your host we will likely be there to check you in, after which we will leave you to your privacy. There is a network of trails on the property (intermediate) for hiking and snowshoeing. We often have spare snowshoes on hand if other guests are not using them. Most outdoor stores like MEC will rent equipment and gear. There is a cross-country ski club nearby (no membership req'd), as well as several OFSC trails. At the nearby lake you can rent a canoe for about $5 per hour. Canoes and kayaks may also be rented at Algonquin North Outfitters and delivered for you at the Kiosk entry point of the Park. The area is ideal for hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, birdwatching, camping, exploring, photography, mountain-biking, x-country skiing, snowmobiling, ATVing, boating, snowshoeing, or just relaxing. We provide a topo map of the area if you are the adventurous sort, showing various wilderness accesses and roads less travelled, and we can point you in the right direction. There are nearby dog-sledding expeditions and horse-riding facilities as well. The area is ideal for moto-touring loops, either on a motorcycle or a snowmobile. Ask us for info! Dogs are sometimes welcome, but please check with us first. Due to allergen considerations of other guests we ask that it be a 100% NON-SHEDDING, hypo-allergenic dog. And cats are not allowed. The cabin is located on a private road just outside of Powassan, Ontario in the Township of Chisholm, which abuts the northwest corner of Algonquin Park. There are thousands of acres of crown land nearby, yet within 10 minutes you can have access to town which has a Beer Store, LCBO, hardware, groceries, restaurants, laundromat, farmer's market, gas station, mechanics, library, tennis courts, public pool, legion hall, cop-shop, and other conveniences. The grocery store in town offers a very decent selection of foods as well as organic produce. North Bay is only 30kms away should you need something from any big-box store, a movie night, or sushi. Please see our Guidebook for local restaurants and activities . We reserve the option to refuse bookings to those without verifications or reviews, and if you are new to AirBnB and do not have any yet we will ask you to tell us a little something about yourself. And please note, guests must 25 years of age or older. By finalizing your booking you will also be agreeing to a waiver of liability, and all the terms of the rental agreement. We will also ask that over Xmas, New Years, and March break that guests book a minimum 5 nights..
Chisholm Township is a beautiful rural area perched just above the northwest corner of Algonquin Park.

  • Clean and wonderfully decorated cabin amongst the trees. So quiet and peaceful. Loved every minute here

    Hazel2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Tracey and Brandon have such a special place in the north! We love hiking the surrounding forests, curling up by the fire and just enjoying some peace and quiet. Highly recommend booking this rustic cabin!!!

    Kate2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A cute cozy space to unwind. Lots of interesting books. Kitchen staples were great. Even had a fresh loaf of bread, eggs and milk for me. I understand that most that most people probably don't come alone, and look to get out and explore. For me it was alone time and down time and wish there was a bit of a bigger TV to watch movies on. It is clearly communicated in the description of the cabin about the iron in the water issue. But the degree of it was a little surprising. Alternate water was provided in their defense. Maybe a filtration system would be a good idea. Maybe it's just the chef in me that was a little put off by it. All in all a great secluded space that I definitely enjoyed and would book again with.

    Donna2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect little cabin to hide out in for a long weekend. Clean, cozy, warm and stylish. The day bed and trail behind the cabin were probably my two favorite things!

    Phoebe2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Prepare yourself for a stay in a cute little cabin in a cute little town. The scenery is wonderful, there's hiking trails, forests, lakes, etc all around you. Going into town is nice for a quick bite, and locals are very friendly. Tracey and Brandon have carefully decorated and ensured no detail gets missed, which leaves you feeling cozy and right at home. I cannot wait to book with them again! Ps, if you stay on Friday/Saturday, be sure to check out zhers bakery! Amish baking at its finest!!!

    Emily2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a Place! This is place was fantastic. Has everything you could need and want. Will def be back again. Thank you Tracey and Brandon

    Justin2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We were celebrating our 7 year anniversary and it was by far our best anniversary, thanks to this cottage! It is just so thoughtfully made and has all the amenities that are needed. Its better to get all supplies with oneself before going as you would not want to leave the place and go anywhere else. Look at any window and you will get breathtaking views of the forest behind and the fact that it was snowing, it made the whole place look like a winter wonderland straight out of a fairytale dream. The place also has a cabin trail which is a nice outdoor activity which we went for. The place also has a nice sitting area where you can just sit and chill while you have such an amazing view. I would definitely want to go back again!!

  • Great weekend getaway, far enough away, but close enough to home. We loved the peacefulness of the cabin, and the hosts were fantastic! We loved the quiet winter cabin, but would definitely like to go back in nicer weather to enjoy the outdoor seating! It was so great that we could bring our dog, too! He loved the river and trails!

  • This is a homely, well appointed cabin, set beside the Credit River. Inside there is electric thermostatic heating, and many useful items provided, along with antiques to recall some local history. It makes an excellent base for hiking the many woodland trails in the vicinity.

    Julia2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely little mini-vacation here! Close to Toronto, and yet it really felt like we got away. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed. We came prepared with foods we could reheat in the kitchenette, and for one of our meals we visited a local restaurant (included in the cabin is a booklet of information with all kinds of great tips about places to visit, as well as local history). Not only are the surrounding conservation areas beautiful and great to visit, but the property itself has some really lovely trails, complete with lots of seating areas along the river and in the forest so you can just sit and enjoy. :) Winter was a beautiful season to visit, and I bet other seasons are just as lovely in totally different ways. We'll have to come back!

  • Charlene and Brad are excellent hosts and great people! Both the River Cabin and Lake view cottage, which are in separate area's of the property, have spectacular views, are secluded and beautiful! You will have total privacy and feel like you are the only ones around as well as the ability to enjoy the space and your time there with the added comfort of knowing there is someone just a short scenic hike away if need be. With all the near by hiking trails and lake, we had plenty to keep us entertained and the cabin was a cosy, warm and romantic get away that we much needed. The fire place was already lit for us when we arrived and everything was clean and cosy. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend and be back again! Thank you!

Come stay in our cozy cabin nestled in the woods, alongside the Gatineau River. It’s just a short 15 minute drive from downtown Ottawa, followed by a beautiful five minute walk into the forest. This is truly an off-the-grid cabin experience with some perks, so come ready to disconnect and relax.
We built this cabin in the woods behind our home. It’s a completely secluded spot without interruption, but you are still only a short drive from any possible amenities you may need (i.e., grocery store, pharmacy, gas station). As previously mentioned, the cabin is off-the-grid, meaning there is no running water, but there is electricity powered by solar-energy. This means the cabin is completely lit and you are able to charge devices (i.e., phone and/or tablet). That said, there is no wifi. You will have access to an out-house with a compostable toilet. We also provide our guests with drinking water, as well as any water needed to cook and clean dishes. Additionally, the cabin is heated with a very efficient wood stove. The kitchenette is well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, a coffee press and some basic cooking needs (i.e., spices, flour, salt, pepper, sugar). We also provide a small stove-top for cooking.
  • Loved it! My boyfriend and I decided to spend the weekend there to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The place is really cute and you can access it via a little walk in the woods! Carolyn wasn’t there when we arrived but she made made sure that we would have everything we needed. She was easy to reach and answered all our questions. She even lent us her sled to move our heavier stuff around. Great hosts, great little cabin, great spot..!

    Daphnée2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at this little cabin, wish we could have stayed longer. The cabin is very well stocked and has everything you need. We will definitely be coming back in the future!

    Chelsea2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place was unreal. The location is within 10 - 15 minutes of downtown Ottawa but somehow you feel like you're in the middle of the woods right off the river. The view from the cabin itself was great. No matter what corner you looked out, there was nothing but trees with guided pathways from your parking spot or to the water. There was a firepit and barbecue outside within 10 feet of the wood supply and a few Muskoka chairs to chill out. The electricity is solar, and we had no issues charging multiple phones at once and had the exterior lights on for about 4-5 hours (we left them on by mistake). Only then did they start to flicker because of the lack of power. Inside the cabin there's a few board games, pots, pans, etc. If you're not an environmental junky then I might recommend bringing paper plates which you could use as fire kindling. We ended up boiling water which took about 5-10 minutes per use (which we didn't mind doing). She leaves you with a good supply of butane to run the portable stove, but no propane for the BBQ outside. All in all, this is an unreal place to chill for a weekend. You can easily sit back and relax with your favorite people, or even work using your phone's internet (LTE ran flawlessly). Carolyn was great. I noticed there was only 1 set of snowshoes, and without asking she brought a second. You're crazy if you don't like this place.

    Brendan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • As I sit down after several days of reflections and recollections, I look upon this journey with great fondness for this lovely little cabin in the woods. As the snow was falling from the sky and we were warm in the cabin, we were able to marvel in amazement at the beauty of nature. But actually, this place is great and there are many special touches around the winterized cabin; snow shoes, plenty of firewood, a well-stocked kitchen, and a very comfortable bed.

    Nathan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little piece of off-the-grid heaven. Nestled in a mature forest with a beautiful winding path through the woods down to a private little gem of a cabin.

Dates scooped? Worry not! We've got two other Muskoka lakeside cottages with similar loveliness - just click our profile picture above for all the details :) - Outdoor Hot Tub - Lakeside Sauna - Games Room with pool table & more - Sandy beach - Log fireplaces & fire pit - Family owned & adored - Wifi internet - Close to Toronto (~90 mins) - Open year round
"The best thing to hold onto in life is each other" -- Audrey Hepburn Trenanthia Cottage is a fun loving, hot tubbing, sauna steaming & fire crackling cottage to help ya smile a little broader, laugh a little louder & live a little bigger! We've been renting to lovely folks for over a dozen years. Take a look around our website for oodles of photos of our "OG" cottage (Original Grandma, of course) and reach out for more info on our "New Cottage" & "Woody" Cottage - all three are similarly fab Muskoka lakeside cottages. Just search the internet for Trenanthia Cottage and voilà (or stalk us on social media :) Life is bigger™ when we connect
People have been coming to vacation in Muskoka since the 19th century. And why not when there's so much natural entertainment to choose from? Gather your friends & family to share canoeing, fishing, playing horseshoes & volleyball, building sand castles on the beach or a round of good old fashioned board games. Even when it's cold outside, make memories to keep you warm: ice-fishing, skating, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snow fort building or our personal favourite, building massive snowpeople :)
  • Me and my 5 friends came for a winter escape and it was amazing!! We had 2 Americans come and experience snow for the first time and it was so perfect for location and accommodation!! The hosts were always quick to respond and helped us with any questions we had! Beautiful cottage and scenery, we would love to come back!

  • Amazing place to stay! Very clean and spacious to spend some much-needed family time... We had so much fun playing board games, relaxing by the fire, kids had a blast in the hot tub and with the gigantic chalkboard wall... Ping was an amazing host and always quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. Looking forward to our next family vacation !

  • This was my second trip to Ping and Lauras lovely cottage. It is a wonderful place to go away with family and friends to relax. This cottage is ideal for the winter months with the large indoor fireplace, hot tub, and relaxing sauna. Ping and Laura are always so quick to answer any questions.

    Victoria2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sparkling clean, and absolutely stellar communication from the host. The environment itself is also spectacular in the winter, very beautiful. The amenities are great, but check with owner that all of them are actually available.

    Zoran2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space, thoughtful and considerate hosts. Would come back in a heartbeat.

    Mark2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful spot on a picturesque lake! We came as an extended family for our Christmas vacation and we enjoyed our time here. The hot tub and sauna were our favourite part :) Ping went above and beyond to help us when the wifi wasn’t working and we really appreciated her quick communication.

Modern ecofriendly cabin with private river access nestled on a 100 acre property in a quiet area of Wakefield. Come relax and recharge for a few days while taking advantage of the bucolic surroundings, wildlife, cozy interior with fireplace. There is plenty of activities to do nearby: discover Wakefield, its restaurants, boutiques, organic farms, ski hills, golf, snowshoe/hike around the property or in nearby Gatineau Park, unwind at the Spa (we offer 10% off to the Nordik Spa), etc.
The vacation home is part of the Wakefield sur le Golf project which offers you private access to the river, parks and trails. The home is less than a 10 minute drive from the Wakefield village and is located in a very private area - great for unwinding and relaxing. You will surely enjoy the large floor-to-ceiling windows (10 feet) throughout the kitchen and living room. It gives the impression of actually being outside in the nature! The kitchen is well equipped for those who love to cook (quality knives, Creuset pan, Blentec blender, etc.). There is also good coffee gear (Hario V60 pour-over, french press/Bodum, and manual grinder). You can also use the SodaStream for some sparkling water! A canoe, paddles and life vests are also available for guest use.
Escape the daily grind! The house is located on the Wakefield sur le Golf project which is located in the heart of Wakefield’s recreational tourism region. This includes three ski hills, two golf courses, a waterpark, spa (Nordik), several equestrian facilities, and of course the Gatineau River. The area offers easy access to the magnificent Gatineau Park, including numerous hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails, as well as the beautiful sandy beaches of Philippe Lake and La Pêche Lake. Dog sledding expeditions can also be organized. Established in 1830, the village of Wakefield is the economic and cultural centre of the region. The boardwalk along the river runs alongside an ideal village setting with cafes, bistros, delis, boutiques, a farmer's market and art galleries. The village is a true reflection of the values of its creative and independent merchants and was the first village in the province to be a designated FairTrade Village by Transfair Canada. The area is conveniently served by schools, supermarkets, a hospital, and a new scenic highway connecting the municipality to downtown Ottawa in just 35 minutes. Escape the daily grind and come stay with us!
  • We had the Leap Year celebration that we were dreaming of at Marc André's cozy cabin. As others have commented, it is even better than the pictures. I wish that we could have stayed longer! If you are visiting or working in the Ottawa area and want to unplug for a while, this place is pure genius.

    Kate 2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, my wife and I loved it! You will not be disappointed by staying here!

    Domenic2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful inside and out. The perfect way to enjoy a below freezing day: by the fire, in a mostly glass house, with no tv, Bose sound, soaking up the flora and fauna while lingering over brunch with the ones you love. Comfort. h y g g e

    Tamara2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is actually nicer than the pictures! Very clean and stylish, equipped with all you need for enjoying your stay. Marc is a great host, and communicated with us very well. We will absolutely go back again. Thank you Marc.

  • I just want to take this opportunity to share my experience at your cabin. My husband surprised me by booking your cabin for a St. Valentin getaway. I wasn't expecting this at all. WOW! What a great place you have! I was speechless! Your cabin is absolutely gorgeous, clean, inviting and for me very romantic. Your cabin shouted peace, tranquility & serenity. Waking up & having a coffee and watching the blue jays flying around. No Internet or television was a great getaway to unplugged and recharged with my husband. It was really peaceful! We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit by talking and laughing together. Not to mention the inside fireplace that made your place warm and cozy. You have thought of every little detail. Everything is marked and at its place. I felt at home. My husband & I have already shared your link & hope to return soon. Thank you for your hospitality.

  • Had such a lovely time visiting Wakefield, Quebec. The wood burning fireplace in the house made it so warm and cozy! Wonderful amenities, such as the BBQ which we used every night. The house was extremely clean and we received prompt responses from the host. I would highly recommend visiting, and while you’re there you must visit the Nordik Spa!

    Alicia2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really loved our stay. The cottage was sparking clean, well organized and many thoughtful touches. Lots of really great hikes near by and we were lucky enough to get fresh snowfall and enjoy the outdoors. Really appreciate the views, the wood burning fireplace and the easy to use kitchen. We travel a lot and this was by far the top rated place we have been to. Would love to stay again!

    Martha2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful stay! Made pour over coffee and a fire in the wood stove every morning. Enjoyed blue jays, turkey, deer and a fresh coat of snow all from the coziness of the cabin view. Had plenty of time to relax and also enjoyed snowboarding and ice skating all within a short drive of the Wakefield area. Highly recommend 🙌🏼

The cabin includes sustainability touches, such as planting 10 trees with bookings as well as using bulk refill products to reduce plastic waste, touches a eco conscious family were delighted with. We would definitely recommend!

  • This place is AMAZING! Right on the water and super cozy in the winter, we can’t imagine how fun it would be in the summer with all the water toys. The view is gorgeous and the location is amazing. Quick responses and thoughtful hosts. We found the bedrooms were not as toasty as the main room during the evening, even with the fireplace roaring, but nothing unbearable. My husband actually liked that because he prefers it cooler when he sleeps. Overall we loved it and can’t wait to come back!

    Celina2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • I recommand this caban! There is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the forest

    François2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Justin and Nicole's place is truly something special. It is perfectly situated RIGHT on the lake, and the space is so stylishly and thoughtfully organized. We stayed with them during the winter and everything was explained clearly and immaculately organized. We are torn between telling everyone who will listen how lovely it is and keeping it as a secret for ourselves. If you're even idly considering staying here, DO IT! Don't miss out!!

Plenty of space inside The Hideaway, was very clean, free snacks and teas. Plenty of helpful advice and information for exploring the area and Julia was very quick to respond to my communications and also flexible with my check in and out times, which was very much appreciated. Very comfortable and cozy and outdoor sitting area on a hill overlooking the lake. I would highly recommend staying here! It had everything I needed and more!

Looking for time away to disconnect from the city and reconnect with what is important. The Tiny Cabin at Fernwood Hills might be the perfect spot, nestled in the heart of South Western Ontario, in a beautiful forest. Quiet, cozy, romantic- in the lush sanctuary of nature. Note: No washroom IN the cabin but one a short distance up the lane. Also check out our Studio Loft listing with a washroom https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/39652106 Check out more about Fernwood Hills www.fernwoodhills.com
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we are unable to accept bookings at this time. We would love to see you and have you here when we are all on the other side of this. Blessings and health to all. We started off offering this tiny space for day use so people just like you, could come away from their office or their work, and clear their mind. Approx a year ago there were several couples, that asked us if they could stay overnight have the experience of quieting their minds. Their heads were spinning because they just needed to disconnect from all the chaos and for a day or overnight, listen to their breathing and look out the windows to nature and wildlife. Here, you are in the forest, but not the dense part and it overlooks green space and trails. Retreat, re-wind, and re-fuel by yourself or with your significant other. Maximum of TWO people and both must be adults. Important to NOTE: NO Washroom in the Cabin. There is a nice washroom, with a shower, but it is NOT inside the cabin. It is a TWO MINUTE drive up the lane or if you decide to walk it will take longer. It is LOCATED in the main house but when cabin guests are here they can use it privately. You have the option if you want to add on a food experience delivered to your door. Just keep on reading and see further below. We also will want to know if we can accommodate your specific food allergies if you have any? Fernwood Hills offers retreats for the individual and small groups, wedding ceremonies, proposals, and elopements, and certainly anniversaries as well. We can help you with any of these or other ideas you have for your stay. Why not, let us help you make a total experience!! We would love to hear from you! Ideas? Birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, getaways, surprise outings. Let us help you create the experience....it's what we really love to do. Upgrade- let us provide appetizers for the evening of your arrival, and add some pretty lights, and add a full breakfast including homemade goodies from our land, delivered to the cabin the next morning. Remember the experience....forever! The Tiny Cabin is intended for quiet relaxation and not for camping or parties or events. We are happy to let you have a small campfire in the provided fire pot and there is a lot of firewood around you can collect. (weather permitting) *NOTE* to photographers, creatives and other business owners: Our space has become popular with photographers and other business owners for its natural light with large windows, and we love working with them. However, this space is not to be booked through airbnb for business uses, including use as a photography studio or a work studio if you are having others or clients come in to have business with you. Those inquiries are welcome and we do that, but it must be an inquiry through our fernwoodhills.com website and details will be given and pricing and availability. If you are a couple and want to have a photographer take photos of you for a short time example: engagement or proposal, then that is allowed to be booked here through airbnb. If you need clarification on this or any other questions please let us know. This listing is ONLY for 1-2 people to book this space. All other inquiries will be directed to go to our website. We are an agriculture property as well as a private park focused on regenerative agriculture and sustainable agriculture practices focused on health, wellness, education and events related to these activities.  Helping to expose and immerse individuals and groups in nature and allowing others to better connect with and understand the natural world around them. We are passionate about what we do here and the opportunities we have to help others each day through our property. Romance, quiet, and cozy are keywords that describe our spot. Even if you are single the importance may not be on romance but certainly on the quiet, mindfulness and disconnecting.
Our property is just a few minutes (about 5-7) from London, Ontario. We are only about 2 minutes from Hwy 402 so coming in that way from 401 makes it easily accessible.

  • Andrews’s cabin is a such great place to stay and relax. Clean, and very cozy! A great place for a long weekend/getaway. We will definitely be back.

  • Little piece of heaven. Wood fire , falling asleep to the sound of the river. This space was exactly what we were looking for and so much more. Perfectly rustic but yet everything you could need. Great hiking trails and beautiful scenery. Cannot wait to go back ! Highly recommend!

  • Andrew’s place is a great place to go and enjoy his rustic cabin. It was very peaceful this time of year. We loved walking on his property, enjoying the scenery and the river which flows in front of the cabin. The bed was comfortable and the wood burning stove made it cozy warm. You can always use the heaters provided if you don’t want to put on a fire. Andrew was there to answer any questions we had also. We would definitely recommend his place.

  • Cozy log cabin was perfect for a city getaway for 2. The wood stove heated the place wonderfully in -30C temperature. The kitchen was exceptionally stocked with pots, pans and cutlery (more than I expected) and the place was incredibly clean. The overall location was great, quite close to hiking trails in the Madawaska valley. It was less private than I expected (could see other properties and the host home out our window), but overall still a great stay! Would recommend.

    Maggie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely rustic cabin. Perfect for a small group (3 - 4). The location for winter activities is endless. With so many trails to explore on the property and the surrounding parks near by. The river is very picturesque if you like to take photos. We really enjoyed our snowy hikes. and the backroads to Round Land Center offer a ton of scenery as well as antiquing if you are into that.

    Toni2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin next to the river. Love it.

    Tristan & Amelia2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic, spacious and cozy. Would absolutely return. Lots of trails to explore and it’s very quiet in the winter which made it more special.

Built into a forested hill beside a river, with a sleeping loft and in-floor radiant heating in a granite flagstone floor, a kitchenette and a three piece washroom, the studio is the perfect place to relax, rejuvenate or retreat into creative work.
Whispering River Studio Retreat is just 10 minutes from Parry Sound and located in a woods of old growth white pine, maple, oak and birch, on the banks of the Seguin River. In spring the scent of flowering crab and apple trees, wild roses, lilacs and pin cherries fill the air. Fall features gorgeous colour on the hills, and nearby hikes feature views of the rocks and cliffs that make this area famous throughout September, October, November and early December. Winter is beautiful too - the season of retreat and rejuvenation is filled with pristine vistas - and lots of snow for the dedicated snowshoe-er or cross country skier! Georgian Nordic X-country ski trails are only 15 minutes away, and can be used in the summer for hiking as well. If you want to enjoy a community Christmas, come and experience the many, many local activities centered around this warm and friendly time of year. You are welcome to relax in the loft, the house's screened in porch, or on the studio porch or the look out and enjoy the gentle whisper of the river, or the wind in the pines. A short walk by the river is beloved by most guests - especially in the mornings when the mist often streams of the water. There is a Heintzman upright grand piano in good condition the house that you are welcome to use. My baby grand in a nearby gallery is also available for rehearsals, workshops and concerts upon arrangement. During the summer the Festival of the Sound at the Stocky Center is home to an International Classical Music Festival. String Quartets, classical and contemporary concert music artists grace the stage, and provide unparalleled musical inspiration for people drawn from all over the world. I have a propane gas stove, washer and dryer, and will provide you with bedding. There is also a BBQ available for use if you want to cook outside. The Seguin River flows swiftly to Mountain Basin Lake - a short 15 minute paddle from the house. You can take trips in either direction. There is excellent canoeing ( although in late August and September the water is very low - but it is still well worth doing the two or three lift-over through shallows), hiking, cross- country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing and hunting nearby. Deer Run Golf Course, a beautiful informal course with a waterfall in its backyard, is just across the road.
Parry Sound is a thriving town. Boat tours, a major classical music festival, and a wide variety of summer and winter sports are centered here. Tours, hikes, skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and water sports, and scenic drives are part of everyday activities for guests in this area. The rugged beauty of Georgian Bay is close at hand, and Canadian Shield country lakes and rivers are here to explore. There is Nordic skiing in the winter, and lots of great winter activities. It truly is a place for all seasons!
  • I spent three nights at the Whispering River working on a writing project. The space is tranquil, open, and inspiring and I was able to get some really great work done while there. During my breaks I went on walks along the river with my dog Humber and Brenda recommended some excellent trails/Provincial Parks nearby for some more long-distance mid-day walk. My dog Humber was equally pleased by those! Overall it was a great experience and lovely space and I definitely would recommend it to folks - and I hope to book again some time in the future.

  • Amazing place, Brenda is an amazing host as well. We came down from our apartment expecting a nice quiet time and even though we had some weather and car troubles, Brenda went out of her way to help us get to her location and get safely home. I’ve never experienced such top in class hospitality and I would recommend this place to anyone. Not just for the views but for the fact that you will experience an amazingly personalized time.

    Daniel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful, peaceful setting. There are many things to do around the area (and Brenda can tell you about them all!) or you can just enjoy the quiet forest and watch the river flow. The Studio is a lovely space, and cozy in the winter. The heated floors are fantastic! Hopefully I can return another time and experience a different season.

Stylish furnishings and convenient amenities are bathed in light from the floor-to-ceiling windows throughout this home. Have breakfast while watching the sun rise over the harbour and sit out on the balcony at night as the city lights up.
The condo is a short walk to Toronto's vibrant Entertainment district where exceptional restaurants and lively bars can be found. Walk through Harbourfront's many parks, go shopping on Yonge Street, or explore the city by hopping on a streetcar.
  • Renata’s condo is in the most convenient location, with easy walks to CN tower, the Aquarium, and the Scotiabank area. We could not have asked for more! The unit was well laid out and very comfortable, with easy parking. Thank you for everything!

    Surjit2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place. Clean, large and has everything you need. View is great. Having parking included is also nice. Instructions to check in were very clear. Thanks for the great stay.

    Mario2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment. Renata was a great host very clear and detailed communication. We asked for an early check in and late check out both were no trouble which made our stay extra special. The apartment was spotless and the views amazing. I would certainly recommend a stay here.

    Mark2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Renata's place is fantastic. She was very communicative and flexible as a host. I found that the small details in this home are what made it so much better than a conventional airbnb; the cooking supplies, towels, etc. The view is incredible, and the apartment itself was very clean and stylish. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay downtown!

    Aidan2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location And the awesome view of the hostel is awesome. The CN Tower is right in front and the view of Lake Ontario is amazing. The view from the property is better than the tower. The accommodations are clean and simple, with coffee, plenty of amenities, and cleaning and laundry. There is a designated free parking lot.

    명훈2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment was perfect! The view and location was amazing.. check in and check out was super easy and Renata was easy to contact and met all of our needs. The apartment had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice weekend get away.

    Amanda2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is better than you expect. The view is everything, along with the decor and design— this stay feels very upscale. We had coffee in the morning from what was provided in the condo. In addition, the location is so prime, there’s a Tim hortons walking distance. Really the location could not be better. I will say finding the parking garage and the parking spot was not the easiest upon check in, especially if you’re from the states, our parking garages are a little different. But Renata sent detailed instructions that I’d be sure to follow upon check in to make it as easy as possible. Definitely will be back, this condo and host are awesome!

  • Magnificent chalet in all simplicity. We had a great weekend where we were able to enjoy the serenity of nature and the kindness of our hosts Ian and Suzanne. A real joy to live in this cocoon for a weekend and to be able to feast on farm products.

    Diego2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic time, and the hosts were extremely hospitable! We'll be back for sure!

    Aaron2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at the cabin. It was well represented by the pics: huge windows looking over a quiet forested area. Cozy interior layout with a loft for sleeping and a wood burning stove for heating and cooking. Loads of chopped wood was provided as was ice for the cooler. Stove was lit and warm on arrival and easy to keep going. The outhouse was clean but ever-so freezing in February. The farm is legit and the wooded area is beautiful. There’s also a pair of very large, very friendly dogs who know no end to a game of fetch. 10/10. Not your typical cottage stay which is exactly what we were looking for.

    Josh2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a very dreamy cabin in the woods

  • Oliver and Frank are fantastic hosts who go the extra mile for their guests. While the space itself was stunning and filled with such charm, their hospitality took the experience even further. Frank was so attentive and responsive, even dropping off some oil when we couldn't find it in the house. We loved the privacy of the property and, for the first time, it genuinely felt like a romantic getaway. Perfect way to spend our anniversary. The treehouse itself felt more like a "tiny home" as my understanding of a treehouse is a house atop trees. Nevertheless, it was enchanting (and better than the pictures!) and we'd love to go back and experience what it has to offer in the summer. Frank was also gracious to allow early check in and check out since there weren't any guests staying before and after us - if that isn't 20/10 hospitality I don't know what is!

    Maria2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it so much the first time had to go back this time! Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing! Love the cedar treehouse!

    Jodilynn2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Frank and Oliver were very accommodating about our stay. Even with the 2-night minimum, my wife and I only wanted to stay 1 night this weekend and they made it work, so that was above and beyond. Frank allowed us to do an early check in as noone stayed the night before us, and when we got to their complex, he personally escorted us through what seems to be acres of land and forest, until we got to their treehouse. The treehouse had everything you'd expect out of your childhood treehouse, except that it had a fireplace, shower and toilet, heater, pots and pans, sound system -- everything that you need to never have to leave the treehouse. It was very cozy. The stairs lead you from the first floor, to the living room/kitchen and all the way to the top level which is the bed. It really brings out your 5-year-old self being in that treehouse. Outside is a gorgeous view and it's own challenge for exploration, though we didn't get to do it as much as we wanted to. But they provided snowshoes for you to wander off into their hiking trails. At night, there's a stargazing opportunity if you're into long exposure photography. You can also drive for about 15 minutes to Port Perry to have dinner or get groceries or explore the town itself. All in all, it was a fantastic getaway not too far from Toronto, and would love to go back in the summer to see the difference. Frank was even generous enough to offer a late checkout since noone else was checking in after us, but we couldn't stay :(. Ps: as a tip, bring external chargers for your phones when you're in bed and not want to get up because it's too cozy.

The treehouse was quaint and cozy, exactly what we wanted - having the BBQ right off the deck was a great bonus too! Oliver and Frankie were exceptional hosts and we would recommend this getaway to anyone - thanks for the great hospitality!

Tiny, cozy, rustic treehouse at the end of a rugged one-kilometre footpath: sleeping platform and woodstove inside; porch and hammock outside. Campfire pit with tripod grill on the riverbank. Appeals to leave-no-trace hikers/canoeists who look for time off the grid, who understand how to function sustainably and respectfully there, and enjoy being self-sufficient. Pricing: Weekend and holiday rates are higher than weekday.
Very quiet, very basic and private treehouse for 1 or 2 guests with suspension bridge and porch on the banks of the Sydenham River in Southwestern Ontario. Stargazing, birdwatching, a secluded getaway. More like camping than anything - no plumbing or electricity or wifi. We're talking backcountry camping, not car camping. You will need to walk (and carry in whatever you are bringing) approx 1 km from the road to the treehouse on a pretty but rough trail. Sturdy footwear is a must! The two-person sleeping platform (4 ft x 6 ft - you have to like each other a lot!) is cushioned with a mattress of 15 cm (6") gel memory foam, and made up with sheets, pillows, and extra blankets. There is a tiny woodstove (see photo) for winter. Wood is provided. We can lend you a camp stove (let us know when you book) to make your morning coffee and/or meals on the porch, or you can build a fire on the riverbank. Wood is provided for that, too, as well as a basic over-the-fire metal grill. There are camping bowls, plates, mugs, spoons, and a tea kettle in the treehouse for your use, and a couple of fire-blackened pans outside. Breakfast, if you choose and if we are home, is at the stone farmhouse on the property (1 km from the treehouse). It is usually homemade waffles. If we are not home, we will leave something basic, like instant oatmeal, for you in the treehouse. A shower (indoor or outdoor - outdoor is May to Oct) is available to you at the farmhouse, too. Towels are provided in the farmhouse bathroom. (See "guest access" below.) Your private bathroom, however, is a dry-composting outhouse (see photos) 200 metres from the treehouse. Dinner is cook-your-own at the treehouse, or can be had at the popular restaurant in the nearby (a walkable 2 km away) village any day but Monday or Tuesday. Plan to explore the riverbank on foot, or bring your bicycle for the country roads. Bring a canoe or kayak if you have one. Bring your fishing rod if you have an Ontario Fishing Licence. One note: In prolonged rainy weather the river can rise to the point where getting to and from the treehouse is difficult or even unsafe. We will let you know as soon as possible so that you can make the decision to cancel, reschedule, or stay based on your canoeing skills and tolerance for extremes. Rest assured we won't let you stay if it looks at all unsafe. You will get a refund, a reschedule, or a credit for a future stay. Most of our guests just want some downtime away from the grid to nature-watch, canoe, read, stare primally into the campfire, that sort of thing. But for more: 3D's is a very popular restaurant in the village. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Florence Mill Inc. is the well-stocked hardware store. Nearest canoe/kayak rental place is The Crappie Store in Dresden. Nearest gasoline stations are in Moraviantown, Thamesville and Dresden. Nearest grocery stores are in Bothwell and Dresden. Nearby Alvinston (25 minutes away by car) has Armor's Alehouse, which is a craft beer pub and restaurant with music most weekends. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. We have listed the restaurants, museums, a provincial park, etc., in the online guidebook. There is a hardcopy version in the treehouse. This is a quiet, pretty and friendly area. Biking is easy.
  • Lawrene and Harry are wonderful hosts, great to communicate with, extremely accomodating, and both lovely individuals. They made our stay pleasant and easy! This location is stunning. A treehouse, suspended over a river, surrounded by forests and fields. Walking up to the house feels like you are passing through 4 different fairy tale locations. While it does get quite muddy down there, the walk is pleasant and the scenery is great. Lawrene and Harry have left so many nice touches at the cabin, it feels very homey despite its small size. This is the perfect place for those who love to be surrounded by nature. I hope to visit again soon.

  • Very cozy little cabin! Everything you would need was provided! Lots of board games to play! The place was simply perfect, the wood stove kept us very warm, we had a great night sleep. We’ll definitely be back to this perfect spot in the summer months

  • Lawrene’s treehouse was a one of a kind experience. The treehouse is very cozy, even in -20, the wood stove heats it up in no time. Lawrene was very quick to respond to our request for extra wood on our second day. The site is picturesque and entirely secluded. The outhouse was very clean. Highly recommend this experience.

  • A wonderful getaway. Everything was as described. Sleeping bag was a great suggestion for winter guests. Lawrene was fantastic in responding to us and making us feel welcomed. She was super accommodating to reschedule our trip last minute when the initial date showed a forecast of heavy rain and flooding. She even ensured that we weren’t charged for the new rate. Now that we have experienced the winter wonderland, we are very much looking forward to a summer time experience! Things we would do differently when we return: make sure our dog has conquered his fear for bridge and steep stairs lol would pack lighter so less trips carrying things back/forth to the car (about 1km per description) - and more time to enjoy the beautiful scenery! Love the riverbank right next to the treehouse. The treehouse was small but nice and cozy for two. Bandaids, books, games, tea/instant coffee and extra tap water for emergency was a thoughtful touch. You will be completely off grid and not see a single soul during the stay - it’s fantastic. Thank you, Lawrene and Harry. - Rebecca and David

  • All the reviews for this place are very accurate! Much better then expected, has everything you need to enjoy a peaceful off grid stay. I had something come up and Lawrene was very accommodating with me showing up a day later. I will definitely be back in the summer. Thanks again

  • A memorable and unique experience. Had such an amazing time in the treehouse and enjoyed the warm breakfast at the farmhouse in the morning. A great place to stay and get away for a bit. A childhood dream come true!

  • Lawrene is wonderful! This was my second stay. Unfortunately flooding made staying in the treehouse difficult but Lawrene was very accommodating and we ended up having a lovely time anyways. I hope to be back again!
