Food scene in Montreal

Farmers Market
“This is the local agricultural market where you can buy food farm to table. Surrounding the market is everything you’d need to make a gourmet meal. There is a bakery, butcher, an Italian shop, a cheese shop, wineries, and an SAQ. I love the produce from this market. They have some of the best mushrooms I’ve ever had in my life right now. ”

“Best and most fresh products in Montreal, in my opinion. Always a good idea to get food there and then eat it (pre-made or a picnic) by the canal which is 2 minutes away by walk.”

Bagel Shop

“There are two types of bagels: New York style and Montreal. In Montreal there are two bagel houses that started the tradition. St. Viateur is my favourite bagel place, chevy, deliciously sweet, and great flavours, freshly baked 24/7.”

Gastropub

“Not exactly a brewery. It's a pub. It's got a great collection of spirits, and they have the local beer Bierbrier. English and English-inspired food and a great atmosphere - basically I try not to go here very often because I never want it to become 'the corner bar' or too pedestrian, when it's really within 300 m of home. On football or other championship days, they'll open the screens for people to watch the games, but they decidedly are NOT a sports bar where the screens are tuned 24/7 to something that distracts you from your friends and the people around you.”
