Nestled in the foothills of San Benito County, this secluded country ranch boasts a 2,000 sq ft Adobe Ranch house with vaulted ceilings and indoor fireplaces. You can watch the sunset and gaze at the star filled sky. This is a remote location to get away from it all. • This is a really special and beautiful property. Dennis was a fantastic host and went out of his way to make sure everything was comfortable!

  • This place is consistent with my goal of looking for off-grid-like experience in Central California. There is no Central heating system and using fire woods is special experience. The location is outstanding and the views are great. The place is spacious and there are plenty of hiking places. Highly recommend!

Set on the site of an old town from the 1880's, now a working dairy farm, the "Post Office" is a beautiful and comfortable escape to the charm and serenity of the country. The farm offers a unique opportunity to see where the best milk and dairy products are made. Baby cows graze nearby. The farm enjoys some of the best sunshine in California, best night sky, mountain views, sunrises and sunsets. Relax, commune with the animals, birdwatch, hike, sit by a campfire, or whatever suits you.
The building where this room is located was the original post office in the town of Panoche back in the 1880s.
Other unique places close by include a working horse ranch, an historic hot springs, a vegetable farm, a new solar project and a saloon style bar. There are hills for hiking and rock hounding. The town of Tres Pinos is 45 minutes away with great restaurants and services. The Pinnacles National Park is an hour and fifteen minutes away. That is the east side access of Pinnacles. It is an extraordinary place to spend the day!
  • The farm is an amazing getaway from the noise of the city and Collette was the most amazing host. Baby cows and kittens - what more could you possibly ask for?

    Jackson2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend The Post Office cabin highly enough. Collette is such a warm, kind, and generous person and the farm is so special. Seeing a local family farm in action was such a treat for me, as an animal lover. Collette and Ron were kind enough to let us join in feeding the calves, which was such a treat, and the accommodations were so comfortable, clean, and beautiful. The bathroom, which is detached, is gorgeous and stocked with fabulous toiletries, and the shower was heavenly. The bed was perfect and we also loved having a wraparound screened-in porch to enjoy fresh air without bugs. There were really just too many thoughtful touches to name and Collette made us a delicious breakfast with all kinds of farm-made goodies. We are so grateful for her hospitality and for the opportunity to enjoy this little slice of heaven away from the chaos of the bay area.

  • Amazing place and is perfect for a 1 day get away from the city. Really refreshing to be remote! - the views are amazing - cows everywhere which is really cool - feeding the babies was a really cool experience - you can not beat the stars at night outside sitting by the bonfire Highly recommend and Collettes hospitality is amazing. Thank you for the coffee and breakfast!

  • This place was more than we expected in the best way possible! Collette was super friendly and the cabin was perfect. My partner and I were looking for a getaway from the busy city of San Francisco and we got that and more. The cabin is located in a big open space with AC, and a netted porch to enjoy a book outside under the shade :) Upon our arrival, Collette loaded our fridge with some of the dairy farms fresh goat cheese, wine, creamy Jersey cow milk, crackers, macadamia nuts, and wine glasses! It was much more than we expected. As the moon came up, we went to help her feed the baby cows and it was such a cute experience! We love that it was secluded and all the animals are cared for. We will definitely be back with some friends to take over the other cabin :)

  • This was the most wonderful airbnb i’ve stayed at. the amenities were stylish, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was cleaner than my bathroom at home. we were lucky to arrive just as ron was feeding the calves, which was awesome. after the sun set, my boyfriend and i split a bottle of wine and sat on a blanket under the stars at night, and went on a long walk in the morning before eating a rustic breakfast prepared by collette. trying local produce and dairy was an added bonus — if you’re a cheese lover especially this is a place you can’t miss. but even if you’re just looking for a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the bay area, this is the perfect place to reset, build a relationship with local farmers, and connect with whomever you’re traveling.

    Katherine2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxing farm surroundings, very clean bathroom, and a very generous breakfast!

    Konstantin2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our night on the farm was wonderful. Collette is a very gracious host and seeing the dairy in action was an unexpected bonus. Highly recommended.

    Bill2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Experiencing a Dairy first hand was such a treat. This family of cows, goats and humans taking part in traditional, authentic, unprocessed dairy farming reminded us that small farms play an important part in providing our communities with quality food. The level of care that goes into creating delicious milk then spills over into the lovely accommodations we had the chance to experience. Very clean, quiet and comfortable, our stay in the Post Office was perfect. If only we'd built a fire to enjoy the brilliant stars for longer under the clear night sky. I guess we'll just have to come back. Mercey Hot Springs is close by and worth a soak and we enjoyed a meal over in Tres Pinos at the Inn. Pinnacles National Park is in the area. Thank you Claravale !

  • We had a great weekend getaway at David's place. The ranch is very nicely appointed and being so close to Pinnacles National Park was invaluable; the parking inside the park fills up very quickly each day, and so being five minutes from the visitor's center makes it much easier to get a spot each morning.

    Skyler2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic home in the middle of rural California, a stone’s throw from our newest National Park. Modern, well appointed home, perfect for 2-4 folks. Fully equipped kitchen, fabulous outdoor barbeque, fire pit area. Central heat and AC, tons of out door space, warm and inviting.

    Robert2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • David provided us exactly what we were looking for. The house was spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. We didn't see anybody around the house. So quiet! The location was perfect, only 5 min away from the park entrance. David was always quick to respond. We will come back!

    Ayako2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stay and visit the pinnacles and s t a r g a z e.

    Karinn2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at David’s place as a homebase for our Pinnacles experience. It is very conveniently located just outside the park and we were back-and-forth once or twice a day during our time there. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed for cooking dinners at home. Beds were comfy and David is a great responsive host. Recommended!

    Marcie2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the stay so much! We cooked, spend a lot time doing the puzzle, hanged out in your gorgeous living room and enjoyed having pinnacles next door.

    Simon2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for visiting Pinnacles National Park. The living space is much bigger than we expected; the kitchen is spacious and well-supplied. The house is surrounded by miles of beautiful grasslands with spacious outdoor areas (which, alas, we couldn't enjoy because of the rain).

    Rebecca2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house is awesome if you're looking for some piece and quiet and privacy. Communication with the host was fast and courteous and the remote check-in a breeze. It's just minutes from Pinnacles National Park.

Single room with two queen beds in the lower part of the historic Grogan House. The Paicines Ranch is a hot spot for birders (over 200 species have been identified here!), we're just 20 minutes from the Pinnacles National Park, and we have a lot of hiking options here at the ranch!
  • The farm is amazing! The stars and animals and quiet are such a treat if you want to get away from it all.

    Rachel2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Paicines Ranch is a special place! It's only 15 minutes to Pinnacles, which makes it easy to get there early and beat the crowds. The room we had was extra large, with amazingly comfortable beds and lots of extra towels. It's an event space, with lots of options from small houses to single rooms, and beautiful grounds to walk. Check in couldn't be easier, and the host's directions made it simple to find the place. There's a perfectly okay steak house in Tres Pinos, just five minutes away, and some good dining options in Hollister, just a 15 minute drive or so. Make sure to find some time to learn about the Ranch itself; their approach to soil management is absolutely fascinating. Really! And the sheep are very cute.

    David2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Consistent with the other reviews, I found Paicines Ranch to be a peaceful and lovely oasis in the country! Perfect for a recharge weekend and easy access to hiking in Pinnacles Ntl Park.

  • Beautiful property only 20 minutes from the Pinnacles. It felt like we had the entire ranch to ourselves! We enjoyed a lovely hike to the oak forest right from our room. Tons of birds and wildlife! And we received a delicious jar of Paicines Ranch honey as well which was a sweet touch. A great home base for our adventure to the Pinnacles for the weekend.

Quiet and serene property 40 minutes south of Hollister. Off the beaten path, and off the gird, with the nearest neighbors a quarter mile away. Three miles off the paved road. Close proximity to Pinnacles National Park and Hollister. Lots of wide open spaces to enjoy the outdoors.
Bring your horses to ride out on 4000 acres. This cabin is completely off the grid, you can bring a generator to plug in. Or, rough it with no electricity and be completely self-sufficient. We are currently installing solar. There is propane for hot water, the stove/oven and heat. High risk fire zone, no outdoor fires permitted. A closely attended bbq is fine in the on-site grill. There is a wood stove that is quite sufficient to heat the entire house in winter. Fresh air, fresh spring water, and a fresh outlook is what you'll get out of this secluded location. T-Mobile and Metro PCS are the only cell providers that have a tower out here. A 4WD is required to access the property. Absolutely no firearm, quads or atvs are permitted.

  • Great spot for exploring Pinnacles National Park. The property itself is sprawling and offers a few hiking trails. I enjoyed a beautiful night gazing at the starry sky. Clean and comfortable. I’d stay here again for sure.

  • What a wonderful Airbnb find! Beautiful and clean accommodations that offers a serene and relaxing getaway. Close to Pinnacles NP and restaurants. We loved our evening walks around the property and enjoyed conversations with staff that we met. We hope to visit again and will recommend to friends and family.

  • We enjoyed our getaway at this beautiful ranch. Check-in was easy and our stay was memorable and special. Would love to go back some time and spend more time at this amazing place!

  • Beautiful area, you can tell they care for their land and take pride in their space and being hospitable. The host Mary was more than willing to answer all my questions and help out. 11/10 would recommend to a friend.

    Eva2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough about the serenity of this place! We were the only family there for 2 of the 3 nights we stayed, and the night there were other people they were in a different building entirely and we only saw them leaving. The gorgeous lawn with beautiful landscaping, the beautiful sunsets lighting the velvety mountains, the lovely walks around the ranch, where we saw deer, a tarantula, a snake, condors(?), Hawks, rabbits, squirrels, and loads of adorable tiny frogs! If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is your place. The room was very clean, and actually nicer than I think it looked in the picture. Very easy, lovely, quick drive into Hollister where you have every amenity you could need.

Just a few miles from the east entrance of Pinnacles National Park. Enjoy the peace and quiet, lack of congestion, beautiful countryside, condors, and amazing star gazing. We have lots of games for friends and families to enjoy inside, plus foosball is located outside. There is one space heater per room. The fridge is completely available and the freezer is partially available.
This house comfortably sleeps 4 couples, with two additional twin beds.
There is no neighborhood, that's what makes us unique. Welcome to the country!
  • Hi, this house was really great for our needs and comfortably suited our group of 4 adults and 5 kids. It is not a new house, but is extremely well maintained. Visitors to Pinnacles NP should know that the East side (which has more hikes) parking lots fill up quickly on weekends and it’s best to get there early (some lots were full by 8:30 during our visit). The house’s location is perfect as it’s only 15 mins away from the trailheads.

  • We had a great time at Rebekah's house. It was well located, just outside of Pinnacles National Park. It had plenty of space for our group, and we were able to cook and eat our meals together. The fireplace was very nice and warmed up the house. Would stay again!

    Xiao2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • beautiful home and exactly what we needed for our festivities at the ranch down the road. we got to meet the owner and got a lot of local history of the area and a warm welcome. i would definitely stay here again.

    Erin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Easy check-in, host and owner were great and approved of early arrival. Tons of space and kitchen had everything to cook for a huge fam. Mark the owner greeted us and gave us some history. Great isolated area close to Pinnacles. Truly got the job done for a hike and star gazed filled getaway.

    Elias2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We rented this place for several friends to stay during our wedding weekend at Bar SZ Ranch. It was super convenient to have them close by, and yet private enough for them to get some space when needed (for example, one family had a newborn). The house is clean and spacious, and the owners were very attentive as well.

    Anjali2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very close to Pinnacles. Easily sleeps 8, maybe 10 with 2 twins. Cool to hang out outside, there is a grill and a Foosball table.

    Kevin2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to stay with convenient access to Pinnacles National Park. Clean, spacious, stocked with the essentials. Contrary to what the listing says, there was no house manual to be found unless you count a few mismatched sheets of paper with duplicate information. We couldn’t figure out how to use some of the house features and had to call a couple of times for help. If you’re okay with taking time to figure things out yourself (and troubleshooting with Mike, the owner), then you’ll absolutely love the space.

    Jenna2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint comfortable ranch perfect for our stay exploring Pinnacles. TV and games for hanging out after a big day hiking. Well equipped kitchen for making meals and comfortable dining room for enjoying them. The house was a little cold but the wood fire and space heaters helped us stay cozy. We enjoyed our time at this serene ranch!

  • This place is wonderful. Sure, you have to take into account that it's a ranch so there are no shops or restaurants nearby but I definitely recommend this accommodation for everyone who loves peaceful environments and nature. This place got definitely it's undeniable charm. Self checkin was smooth. Room was clean and cozy. Walls are little bit thin but all of the pros beat this little con. Great find!

    Marla2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Simple and comfortable room. Cozy bed. The kind of place you read a book and listen to the owls hooting outside. Walls are thin but the neighbors were quiet. The ranch is beautiful and Mary is awesome!

    Elizabeth2019-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Visiting the ranch was transformative! The feeling of immersion in a stunning natural landscape -- that is also a working farm -- was one impossible to replicate. Until next time that I visit, I'll dream about Paicines Ranch.

  • Wonderful place to get the "country feel" of California. Such a peaceful experience staying at the ranch. Fun local spots to enjoy while there. It was just the right spot for us after busy days at Monterey. Quiet - very private experience even though others were there, as well. We had everything we needed in the Garden Cottage. Highly recommend.

  • This ranch caught us by surprise. We were just looking for a place near Pinnacles National Park and Mary's place showed up as the closest. This ranch is truly a one-of-a-kind. From the breathtaking scenery to the seclusion, to the peacefulness. You can also star gaze at night for hours! Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Pinnacles.

    Andrew2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • On a weeknight evening , I saw only two people working (and no other guests staying) at this massive ranch. When I did engage the two workers in conversation they affably provided more information about the operations; one of them told me about a large wedding party expected to use the ranch over the weekend. Meanwhile, it was easy to relax in areas where we might not have ventured if others were around. After strolling around the premises, we sat in comfortable rockers on the westward-facing porch of a big house in order to watch the sunset. The facilities inside the cottage weren't especially out-of-the-ordinary, but the exterior surroundings made this one of the most distinctive environments I've experienced via Airbnb.

Just 10 minutes to Pinnacles, Love Nest is private and charming; perfect for 1-2 guests. The 'log cabin' exterior is fitting and interior reminiscent of “Gone with the Wind” era. Included; queen bed, tapestry love seat, 'faux fireplace' heater, A/C, DVD player, refrigerator, microwave, electric tea kettle, coffee/teas, quality bed linens, towels, essentials (shampoo/conditioner, body wash, soap, toilet paper etc) with a small closet for belongings. Bathroom is private w/toilet, sink and shower.
Important - we have a variety of animals here on the ranch and strive to make their quality of life healthy, happy and comfortable. Our Love Nest is in close proximity to our peafowl aviary, which holds about 25 birds and our "Doggie Chateau", which houses our beloved dogs Ringo and Scarlet. Altho rare in occurrence, the birds and/or dogs may become boisterous, as they will alert when a predator (bobcat, coyote, etc) is on the property. Also, the birds are vocal during mating season. Since the Love Nest is close to both pens, we want you to be aware of the animals nearby.
  • Such a peaceful place to stay at. Farm animals to wake-up to in the morning, the pure sound of silence at night. Very relaxing, and close to Pinnacles National Park should you want to hike this beautiful area. The place is small, well furnished, thoughtful, and kitsch-cute.

Shelley, the manager, was so helpful and always happy to answer any questions we had, and Barbara and Jerry were kind enough to let us drive up to the hilltop patio to enjoy the sunset. If you want to relax and enjoy the country, this is the perfect place.

  • Really unique space on a working ranch. Shelley was extremely helpful and helped us out with all of our questions, along with checking that all was well throughout the stay. The animals on the ranch are extremely cute (we loved Scarlet the dog and the alpacas) and the proximity to Pinacles make this a perfect base for hiking. Highly recommended.

My place is close to Pinnacles National Park (https://www.nps.gov/pinn/index.htm), Agriculture, ranches, scenic landscape, and birding. You’ll love my place because of the country & farm atmosphere. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
A historic cottage, "The Cheese House" used to in fact be a cheese house during the Paicines Ranches bustling turn-of-the-century farming operations. This cottage is a cozy oasis for the traveling family. Has private bath, private parking, separate bedrooms, mini fridge/ microwave but no kitchen.
We are a 7,600 acre ranch in the rural part of San Benito County. Our area is quiet and scenic. Just 20 minutes from our gate to a Pinnacles National Park East Entrance Gate.
  • This cute cottage is at the corner of the ranch, with very brightly painted rooms and a rustic touch. We are a group of girls looking for a quiet place to get away from busy city life. And this is exactly the place we’re looking for. Morning yoga on the lawn and chatting with friends under the starry night are the two best memories we have!

We love the peace and serenity of being tucked away from close neighbors, traffic as well as the hustle and bustle of town life. However, we do have movie theaters and many hot spots in Hollister, just 19 miles North, for those of you that would like to check it out.
  • Our family traveled to California to attend a wedding at a (different) ranch in rural Northern California. Because we wanted sufficient space to house our family of four, my elderly parents, my two sisters, their adult children (two, each) plus all their significant others, this was a super tall order. To my surprise I quickly located the 1000 Acre Ranch with multiple cottages in relatively close (but not too close!) quarters, nestled in the hills halfway between Hollister and the wedding venue, and it seemed perfect. Shelley was super helpful coordinating our multiple family members and their respective schedules and individual bookings which inspired confidence our experience would be smooth sailing. We were not disappointed! From even before we arrived, the directions were clear and precise, the properties were even nicer than described, and we knew our stay would be both serene and comfortable. It made me wish I was a writer because I would totally come here to write my memoirs one day, would that anyone had any interest! We had the odd request here and there (champagne glasses, would it be okay if we invited a few guests for a Sunday prayer meeting and baby shower) and all were met with genuine care and enthusiasm. We could not have asked for more hospitable hosts or more ideal surroundings. I only wish we had not been so occupied with wedding events and duties otherwise we would have had more time to enjoy the many things there were to do at the ranch. At only an hour and fifteen minutes from the San Jose airport, we will undoubtedly be back! Plus, the olive oils they produce from the property are delicious!

  • We loved our stay! We can’t wait to come back and really enjoy the ranch. Everything was set up perfectly for guests...we highly recommend a visit to R & G Ranch

    Mickey & Christy2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place, wonderful people. Can't recommend them highly enough. We brought our 1-year-old, and they really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They set out a high chair, baby books, toys, etc., that were all waiting for us when we checked in. Great deal for the price. Also, it's worth checking out their farm stand/gift shop. The vanilla and orange body butter, chapstick and Olive Oil are all worth picking up.

    Carolyn2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you leave aside the swimming pool, well loved animals (including peacocks and peahens), the brilliantly stocked kitchen (with sharp knives), the incredible host (so generous with her time), the pool table, drum kit, arcade games, lovely walks to a great deck with a great view, children's swings, tennis court, basketball court and table tennis table - then this place is simply a little slice of paradise in a setting to die for. Leave your troubles at the front gate and just enjoy. Heaven.

    Monty2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Rosa was a perfect destination for my daughter and me! We selected R & G Ranch because it was located only 15 minutes away from the east entrance to Pinnacles National Park. Everything about our stay was amazing. Shelley was very helpful, prompt, and thorough in her correspondence with us both before and during our stay. Barbara went out of her way to let us interact with the many animals they have on their ranch. It was so fun to be so close to horses, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, and peafowls. The Casa Rosa house was clean, quaint, and comfortable. Everything you need is there for you and easy to find. We enjoyed eating at the outside table, looking at the beautiful rolling hills in front of us. R and G Ranch deserves 6 out of 5 stars for their wonderful hospitality and accommodations!

    Kathy2018-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful ranch with close proximity to the Pinnacles. Farm animals and lots of amenities. Would absolutely recommend.

    Kyle2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We staying at your clean and nicely appointed accommodation --La Casa Rosa. Enjoyed the pink of La Casa Rosa for a weekend "color." We were surprised by the number of creatures in your farm setting just 100-200 yards away including llamas, alpacas, peacocks, peahens and horses. Peacock feathers adorned inside the dining and bedroom!! I liked the art sculptures and animal art on the grounds and driveway; lighted art display highlighted our parking space at night.

    Henry2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at la casa rosa was exactly what an Airbnb experience should be: great communication before our arrival, plenty of info about the place (including a heads up that the nearest grocery store was a good 20 minute drive away), quick and easy check-in, fully stocked, clean, and comfortable house. We came with our toddler and baby for the weekend to attend a wedding at a nearby ranch. Shelley left out farm animal-themed books for our toddler and had a high chair and crib ready to go for the baby. We loved seeing all the animals and just running around outside at the ranch. The surroundings were lovely and the hosts could not have been more welcoming.

  • Such a beautiful property and kind staff! We’ll be back!

  • This is such a great place. What makes it so terrific isn't so much the guest house itself (we stayed in guest house #3), not that there's anything wrong with that... it's roomy, clean, and has the basic features a person is looking for -- microwave, comfortable bed, a bathtub, a nice little patio out in front, easy parking, etc. But what's really exceptional is the ranch where the guest house is located. It's an incredibly beautiful place, historic, huge, with trails you can walk on out among wonderful stands of blue oak and out among the rolling hills and valleys. At times you feel like you have the whole place to yourself, like it's YOUR ranch! At night there's a wonderful sense of quiet and the stars are bright and gorgeous. Mary, who manages the airbnb rentals and who grew up in the area, is extremely friendly and helpful. All sorts of interesting things are going on at the ranch -- progressive ways of raising livestock, of replenishing the soil and restoring the native perennial grasses, of vineyard management. Paicines Ranch is inspiring in a variety of ways; we loved our four days there and return in a heartbeat. And of course Pinnacles National Park is just twenty minutes down the road.

    Oggie2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Paicines Ranch exceeded our expectations! Perched in between the hills, surrounded by sweeping vistas, we loved driving through the entire domain toward our cottage, which was clean, well-set up, and very comfortable. A unique and lovely place to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday!

  • All of the camp sites were all reserved when I wanted to do some hiking at Pinnacles so I came across Paicines ranch and I'm glad I stayed there. Very nice accommodation with nearby restaurants in Tres Pinos. They also have a hiking trail on the property which I did't have time to do but maybe next. Excellent country setting.

    Charlie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful location! We were sad to miss seeing the sheep since they were out grazing a bit farther than our 3 year old could hike. But what a pleasure to be really out in the country on such well cared for land. Stars!! And all the ranch folks we met were extremely nice and helpful. Many thanks!

    Hilary2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you need to see some beauty and decompress, look no further. The ranch is beautiful with a lot of farm life. On the ranch itself, there are fantastic hikes and Mary is a wonderful host. Definitely good bang for your buck!

  • Mary's Rose Annex property was a great stay. We got a bit mixed up finding the entrance since we arrived when it was dark, but found it after a minute or two without issue. The space is very clean and functional. Plenty of towels, which we appreciated. It was a cold night, but the space heaters provided warmed up the rooms extremely efficiently. Was pleasantly surprised that there was plenty of hot water. About ~25min from the East entrance of Pinnacles Nat'l Park. Much appreciated!

  • Super clean, beautiful unique location, I highly recommend. We traveled with a 5 year old and it was nice to have some space to walk and run. The personal touches where noticed, our family would stay there again.

  • This is such a beautiful spot. Quiet, idyllic, and lovely. The Rose Annex is perfect if you have a group. We were a group that were bicycling from Santa Cruz to the Central Valley and we stopped here for the night. It was such a lovely place to shower up, rest our weary bodies, and enjoy the lambs, birds, and pigs!

The historic Grogan House sits in the heart of the Paicines Ranch, surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers, and sweeping lawns!
  • This is a truly one-of-a-kind place. The Grogan House is a brilliantly restored historic farm house, huge rooms and authentically restored. Don't expect to find flat screen TVs in the rooms, but instead expect to find a beautiful historic artifacts and tasteful decorations in each room, a huge living room, a massive formal dining and an industrial kitchen complete with butler's pantry. It's remote and rural, which for us was a feature, not a shortcoming. However, the little towns of Tres Pinos and Paicines are about 15 minutes away and Hollister is about 30 minutes away. Also 30 minutes away is the breathtaking Pinnacles National Park, well worth a visit no matter what time of year. Lovely, lovely place.

The Bar SZ Ranch is a genuine working family ranch. Enjoy horseback riding, roping, hayrides, skeet shooting, archery, seasonal creek walking, hiking, outdoor movies, and line dancing. And when the sun goes down, relax as a rancher would with a BBQ, bonfire, s'mores, and epic star gazing.
There is an art studio which once belonged to the world famous painter Thomas Kinkade and sits upon a beautiful and quiet hill that overlooks the valleys and mountains of the ranch. Picture windows allow for breathtaking views across the entire house. It is a truly amazing place to get away, relax, and rejuvenate. The grounds are home to thousands of native birds and animals. We are just 10 minutes from the Pinnacles National Park which offers hiking, rock climbing, and outdoor educational classes. The ranch is located 40 minutes from a town with shopping and restaurants. *We have multiple houses on the property if you are looking to get a large group together. Please search Bar SZ Ranch or inquire within for more information.
We don't have any neighbors so it's very quiet and calm.
  • Bar SZ Ranch is an amazing place. It's not just an Airbnb as a place to stay for the night, it's a whole experience. There is horse back riding (and pony riding for kids), archery, shooting, hiking, lassoing, playing with animals (and baby bunnies and kittens), eating super-fresh chicken eggs, a great oak-fired communal BBQ in the evening, a bonfire at night, and so much more! And it's very close to Pinnacles National Park. We camped at Bar SZ over Labor Day weekend with friends, and now came back for a second visit (with my parents), this time staying in the cabin. Tim and Michelle and their kids are awesome people, and awesome hosts who create a sort of magical yet completely natural and genuine experience. A visit here feels very much like staying on a very nice friend's ranch. Can't say enough good things about the place, the experience, and the people. We'll definitely be back.

    Gniewko2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • BarSZRanch is a beautiful location and Tim and Michelle have poured their heart and soul into making the lodgings, amenities and hangout spaces as lovely as can be. They are excellent instructors of shooting (Tim) and horseback riding (Michelle) and really enjoy their work creating a pleasurable, laid back environment for their guests. Their healthy, shiny chickens produce eggs aplenty for all your country breakfasts. Great place to get away!

    Rachel2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • We rented out the Cabin House and the Ranch house for a weekend to celebrate a birthday, and everybody had a great time. We got immediate assistance from Tim whenever we needed it, whether it was help with the giant Santa Maria grill, or with setting up fun activities like skeet shooting. Throughout the weekend, we all got a very obvious sense that this place is run by really generous, hard-working people. It was a pleasure!

    Hubert2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about what a lovely time we had at Tim and Michelle's ranch. We were a group of 14 who stayed in the Cabin and the Art House for a surprise birthday weekend. 1) Before our stay, their guest manager was very responsive in answering questions, helping me plan the surprise, etc. 2) Tim and Michelle are incredibly open about welcoming you to the ranch and letting you explore. We played with all sorts of animals (baby bunnies!), went shooting, rode horses, chatted with their kids and ranch hands, sat around a campfire...but they're also very low-key about letting you do their own thing. 3) The ranch is stunning. We loved just being outside. 4) You're about 5-10 min from Pinnacles, which has great day hikes. 5) The houses come stocked with everything you need to cook and grill. And the Art House is easy to arrange and re-arrange; there was plenty of space for all of us to hang out. Most of all, Tim and Michelle are kind, patient, and interesting hosts. We felt so welcome. Thank you!!

    Hannah2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience especially the animal feeding, horse riding and shooting gave every adult and kid a worderful memory.

    Kelly2016-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Michelle were wonderful hosts-welcoming and helpful and full of enthusiasm-they obviously love the ranch and are eager to share! The setting is amazing and we enjoyed easy access to Pinnacles. We are birders and the birding on the ranch was terrific! The house we stayed in was rustic but comfortable and met all our needs. And the goats, kittens, and horses added to the fun. We would definitely stay here again!

    Catherine2015-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Bar SZ Ranch is a hidden gem and was the highlight of our US trip. True to all the reviews, the highlight of the experience is Tim and Michelle who really make the stay - they couldn't be more open, welcoming and accommodating. The ranch is a genuine working ranch, and gives you a real taste for ranch life - unlike many who advertise online which are set up for tourists, this is the real deal. As an experienced horse rider I was looking for a ranch where I could get a taste for Western riding and chose this ranch as Michelle is a top English and Western rider. I had amazing riding experiences on their well bred and trained Quarter Horses. Michelle even taught me the ropes of Barrel Racing while my partner enjoyed shooting with Tim. Close to the National Park and with an abundance of farm animals and breathtaking views, there is no shortage of things to do. Or, if you prefer, to sit back and relax. The cabin is comfortable and homely and we really enjoyed sitting out on the porch watching the sunset. I would love to keep this place a secret, but can't recommend it enough!

    Jessica2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were warmly welcomed from the second we stepped foot on the Ranch. Our family had an amazing time. Tim and Michelle are fantastic hosts and did everything to make sure our stay was perfect and unforgettable. Our children made friends with their children, woke early in the mornings to feed the animals, had endless opportunities to interact nature, all the while learning how to ride horses, play archery and lasso. This is a place where your children can roam free and happily and where you can take in the quiet beauty that surrounds you. A home away from home. A place we will visit again and one that will stand out to our children as a grand childhood memory. We are so thankful we found this place and are so grateful for Tim and Michelle's hospitality! This is more than just a vacation and an experience not to be missed.

  • Had an amazing stay at the Paicines Ranch. From the get-go Mary was extremely easy to communicate with/get a hold of. The directions were accurate, and the lodging was clean. The area was just beautiful - you can explore the farm or go to the nearby Pinnacles National Park.

  • It was our first time staying at a working farm - definitely a special experience. Mary is a perfect communicator - fast, clear and friendly. The room had everything we needed. And, of course, the location is unbeatable! Thanks Mary!

  • While we never met, Mary was always very quick to respond. We needed a place to stay after a day of hiking at Pinnacles National Park and the cottage was close to the east entrance. The heater had been turned on for us when we got there and so it was nice and toasty place to relax after a day of hiking in the cold. The rooms and bathrooms were all incredibly clean and we were provided with plenty of towels to use. Also, each room had a space heater, a fan, and also plenty of blankets to ensure that we were comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

Set on the site of an old town from the 1880's, now a working dairy farm, the "Telegraph Office" is a beautiful and comfortable escape to the charm and serenity of the country. The farm offers a unique opportunity to see where the best milk and dairy products are made. The farm enjoys some of the best sunshine in California, best night sky, mountain views, sunrises and sunsets. Relax, commune with the animals, birdwatch, hike, sit by a campfire, or whatever suits you.
The building where this room is located was the original telegraph office and later the phone exchange in the town of Panoche back in the 1880s.
  • Honestly I can't say enough about how fantastic this stay was for our family.. we are longtime Claravale customers so perhaps I'm biased, but every aspect of the stay exceeded my expectations. We loved the immaculate bedrooms and bath house, and Colette went above and beyond to make us at home, a delicious breakfast and farm tour. The kids got up close with the animals, got to help out feeding the babies, and they were in heaven. We'll definitely be back!

    Dan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is serene. It is in the middle of nowhere, in some gorgeous straw-colored rolling hills dotted with cattle, sparkling stars, and moonlight. The Post Office Cabin was super cute with its original "Panoche" sign from way-back, and the bed was very comfy. The bathroom is out back and was spotlessly clean and modern. Collette had her daughters deliver a delicious homemade breakfast to the porch in the morning, and we gobbled it up while planning our day's trip (tip: Eden Rift Vineyard is amazing, be careful of poison oak if you go wandering off any of the trails on Panoche Rd). Google brought us right to the location, but beware if you try and approach from the east (Highway 5), you might run into an impassable mud hole. We were able to head back and approach from the other direction, but it took a while. The night landscape was incredible nonetheless on that back road--we spotted scores of jack rabbits and also an endangered giant kangaroo rat. Collette was a real sweetheart and offered to pick us up at the impasse, but we were already on the other side by the time the texts went through. We showed up 20 minutes late, and she was totally understanding. We loved staying here and hope to be back!

    Jessica2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We came here to see the stars and loved the night sky through telescopes. The bathroom is a 1 minute walk outside so bring a warm coat you can quickly put on. Our host was fun and showed us around the farm and cooked us a nice breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay!

    Joe2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Collette's place was an amazing getaway. We fed the cows, and the stargazing was magical at night. The cabin is on the farm in a wide open space, and you're really able to make out all the stars. The breakfast was also really delicious, Collette was really hospitable and gave us samples of fresh milk - they were delicious!

    James2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and rustic farmhouse set in wide open space with amazing views and starry night sky. Collette's hospitality was warm and we enjoyed the opportunity to sample fresh milk from the farm and other breakfast treats.

    Sandy2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Collette’s place is absolutely charming. I loved staying in a cabin with such deep roots In California’s history. The peace and quiet, and the charm of her dairy farm, was just the respite from a busy life that I needed.

    Allison2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time here. We got in at night, just in time to make some s’mores and stargaze. There’s no light pollution, so you can easily make out the haze of the milkyway and millions of stars. The place itself was great: bathroom is detached but is very clean and luxurious inside, and the cabin was cozy and private. There’s no utensils or stove in the cabin, so we ate dinner at Tres Pinos about an hour before reaching the farm. Breakfast was amazing—I don’t consider myself much of a cheese enthusiast, but the cheese they have there was absolutely delicious. We had a lot of fun hanging out with some young calves in the morning. The landscape around the farm is beautiful. Note that you probably won’t have cell service, but there’s WiFi so we didn’t really notice during our stay. Just make sure to download the map on google maps and some music for the drive there! We’ll definitely be back :)

    Robert2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for one night and we had a magical weekend. We fed the days old calves and helped clean the barn (because we wanted to not because we were supposed to - don’t get us wrong! We just love this kind of work and we were so happy they trusted us with it), Colette is an amazing host. She made incredible breakfast with local products and brought it up to our room, a very cute old post office renovated into a modern beautiful serene master bedroom. I could go on and on about how peaceful and idyllic this place was, but i think you should go check it out yourself!

  • We had a delightful stay at Barbara and Jerry’s ranch. The house was clean, had very comfortable beds, and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and pots and pans. Swimming in their pool was I delight during our hot August weekend. Their gardens are beautifully maintained and we enjoyed delicious fresh picked tomatoes and nectarines. The hosts were personable and very accommodating. It is a spectacular beautiful well-maintained property. We are sure to return for another stay.

    Melinda2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The winding road to this ranch is not for those who experience carsickness. Once there, it is a delightful treat-beautiful grounds, swimming pool area is large with many seating areas including a kid’s play area and several hammocks. The peacocks are loud. We would return to this ranch.

    Patricia2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Fantastic hosts and a very special place to stay surrounded by nature.

    Nicholas2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a weekend here with a group of friends and we had an amazing time exploring the property, playing board games and air hockey, and spending an evening grilling on the built-in grill pit (with the assistance of Barbara and Jerry!) and enjoying a pool-side dinner as we watched the sunset. Truly a great option if you're looking for a nice Bay Area getaway or if you're looking for a place that's close to Pinnacles.

This house is extremely unique as it is located on a very historical property in the heart of San Benito County. The property is home to what was once the art studio of world famous painter, Thomas Kinkade. It was also once home to the world famous cow horse Doc Bar. The house sits in the middle of an active horse pasture, allowing you to wake up to horses grazing outside your window! Picture windows throughout the house allow for breath taking views across the entire ranch. It is truly an amazing place to get away, relax, and rejuvenate. The grounds are home to thousands of native birds and animals. We are just 10 minutes from the Pinnacles National Park which offers world-class hikes, rock climbing, and outdoor educational classes. The ranch is located 40 minutes from a town with shopping and restaurants. *We have multiple houses on the property if you are looking to get a large group together. Please search Bar SZ Ranch or inquire within for more information.
This ranch home provides its guests with wide open spaces, endless beauty, all kinds of wildlife, and the ability to participate in real working ranch activities. It is also just 10 min. from America's newest National Park - the Pinnacles National Park.
  • Our experience at the farm was amazing. We woke up with a view of grazing horses and the mountains as a backdrop. Entire days were filled with activities around animals (we got to play with 1 week old kittens!), with other games to play when animals were resting (hockey in the grass, pool table). Tim, Michelle, their kids and the entire crew were extremely friendly and were happy to answer all our questions. In the evening, the ranch was transformed into a romantic setting with strings of light, and cozy seating by the fire. Our kids (ranging from 5 to 13) are already asking when we can come back.

    Irina2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • There really are no words and no comparison for the experience you get at Bar SZ Ranch. It is a place to disconnect from the bay area's lifestyle and completely let go. You are on vacation at this ranch, and you can do as much or as little as you'd like. Sit on the porch, absorb your surroundings, and take it all in the entire day. Or go on horseback rides, shooting, archery, or hiking. Once you arrive, you will never want to leave. This is our third stay at Bar SZ Ranch, and this, by far, is our children's favorite. They explore, feed animals, play with animals, explore some more, and have time and energy to roam and be a kid. We left only two days ago, and we already can't wait to go back!

    Anne-Michelle2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was our fourth time vising the Bar SZ Ranch, which already says how much we love this place. We've always gone with other families, and shared a house or two, and enjoyed the activities, and proximity to Pinnacles National Park. Tim and Michele and their kids are awesome, and such a pleasure to be around, and the views, animals, wildlife and overall vibe is stunning.

    Sam2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Unparalleled experience. Kids declared this was their best holiday ever over some stiff competition. They fully participated in ranch life every morning and afternoon, leaving the daytime for horse riding, shooting, archery, hiking, vaulting, oak wood grilling and more. Tim and Michelle, their kids and staff made it possible for our group of novel horse riders including fairly young children to feel fully included and informally weave in and out of the various activities throughout the day.

    Lars2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our group had such an amazing experience here. We all had a great time getting to know the owners and all the included extras on their ranch. Great memories were made that weekend playing pool, darts, poker, hiking and exploring the area/National park that was near by, and going out shooting at their target range. Everything about this stay was above and beyond our expections. We will definately be coming back in the near future. Thanks for the amazing stay.

    Adam2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Michelle were great! We had a party of 9, and it was plenty spacious. We enjoyed horseback riding, shooting, camp fires, and hiking. Definitely a fun weekend getaway.

    David2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This airbnb was way more than expected. Lots of activities which I don't really expect out of an airbnb. Fun for the kids and well as adults. Beautiful ranch.

    Monika2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Michelle were exceptionally accommodating during our weekend stay that was somewhat washed out by the rain. Despite the weather and mud, we were able to do almost everything we wanted to, thanks to Tim making everything work just right for us. This property has much more to offer than authentic ranch-style housing and activities, but also a glimpse into a different lifestyle. This was our second time staying at Bar SZ and I am looking forward to making even more memories here. Thank you for everything!

  • We had a wonderful time at the ranch. Tim, Michelle, their kids, and all of the staff and volunteers were so warm, friendly, and welcoming. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. We stayed for 6 days and could have enjoyed an even longer visit! Our 12-year-old son was in heaven with lots of time with animals in a beautiful natural setting. He rode every day of our stay, and my husband and I rode along with him several times. Our son has a developmental disability, and so needs some extra support. Everyone we interacted with was so patient, kind, and accommodating. The house was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with supplies for our stay. There's plenty to do with riding, visiting the animals, hiking, biking, camp fires, and more, though we were also happy just to kick back and enjoy the view. We will definitely be back.

  • We stayed with a small group of extended family, and had a great time. The Art House was a wonderful place to stay, very spacious and comfortable for our group. Amazingly close to Pinnacles National Park, Tim was very helpful, and it was nice to learn about the ranch - we'd love to visit again and spend more time there.

    Rusti2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle and Tim, and their entire crew were great hosts. The Art House was perfect for a family reunion to just enjoy being together--the space, the huge kitchen to cook and eat (even an Xmas tree set up for holiday spirit), the epic view of the breathtaking and serene environment. Horseback riding and shooting and hanging out with the ranch animals made it even more special. Would easily choose this rental again for some laid- back Cali ranch style R&R...

    Rose2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Place is absolutely beautiful and hosts- Tim and Michelle are amazing hosts. We were a party of 12 and spent 3 nights at Art house. Day 1 : we enjoyed the ranch(cattle feeding, archery etc.) and took the horse riding class. Day 2 : first half did the skeet shooting and second half we made a trip to Pinnacles. Ranch has a very beautiful views/landscapes and morning jogs in particular are magical. Everyone had great time.

  • Nice location and run by really nice family. We had a great time especially the kids. They had a great time feeding the animals.

    Madhu2018-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Note: This review is for the Ranch House; due to a miscommunication we were switched shortly after booking. My family and I spent two nights, using the house as a base to explore Pinnacles. The house is spacious and comfortable. Everything needed for a comfortable stay was supplied; we just brought the perishable foods for our meals (condiments, spices and herbs and oils were provided). The kitchen is well equipped. We joined Tim and Michelle and their kids for their evening feeding of the animals - our kids loved meeting the pigs, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, turkey, and the farm cats and dog. The ranch is set in a beautiful valley, far from any urban center. We would have spent the evenings stargazing under the pitch black skies, except we were there during a cold snap and it was literally freezing outdoors. Instead we had a couple of cozy evenings indoors. Each house can sleep a fair number of people; when you add them all together you can have a big group here, especially if you include camping. When we arrived a party of 70 had just left!

    Mario2018-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I came here with my family (a siblings weekend trip to hike Pinnacles) and I couldn't recommend a more perfect spot. It's in a GREAT location. Everyone is so incredibly friendly. The barn area and activity options are awesome options to have. The space itself is huge and so well-equipped for cooking big family meals and lounging afterward and playing board games. :) Basically - I have no complaints and would easily book another trip here again! Thank you Tim and Michelle!! :)

  • We truly enjoyed our stay at the ranch - so peaceful and beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful! Not only was this the best location for Pinnacles National Park, but we covered all 7500 acres of the ranch to discover its birdlife. As a bird photographer it couldn’t be better! One note about accommodations: they are a bit spare, but certainly adequate. The Grogan House Terrace rooms are well located on the property. However, they can be chilly on cold nights, as there’s only a small heater.

  • Paicines Ranch is a great place to stay while exploring the trails and peaks of Pinnacles National Monument. It is a short drive (20 minutes away) and if you are lucky, you might sight one of the California Condors that habitat that area. Tres Pinos, a few miles north of the ranch, offers fine dining. Paicines Ranch has great trails for hiking (or mountain biking), with a great variety of birds and wildlife.
