This was my second stay at JX Ranch (Cow Camp), and it was just as good as the first. My daughter and I arrived very late and went directly to our lodging. The stars and distant thunderstorms were spectacular with the milky way clearly visible. We threw open all the windows and with a cool breeze and only the soft sounds of crickets I fell asleep immediately and slept better than I had in a very long time. In the morning after eating our breakfast we hiked up to the ridge (which I didn't do the first time), and the view was pretty great. We also had time to throw some balls for Blue, and more importantly, Tom and Mimi were very gracious to spend time talking to us. We had such a great time that I'm going to tell everyone I know to stay here!

Another excellent stay at JX Ranch bunkhouse. We love this place and decided it was the best place to stay on our return trip as well. This time we bought several varieties of grass fed beef from the farm and are really excited to try it!!

Our family loved our stay at the cow camp. It was more than we could have asked for: solitude, nature, open skies... Mimi was so friendly and helpful. We pre-ordered two rib-eye steaks, and Mimi had them thawed and ready for us when we arrived. Delicious! We also made friends with Blue the cow dog. She accompanied us on our hike around the gorgeous property. The bunkhouse was warm and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back if we are in the area again. Thanks!

I would definitely come back again. The room is clean. The host is friendly. I had the perfect ranch experience.

Mimi was a very friendly and hospitable host. She did a terrific job with communicating and making sure my friend and I were doing well. The bunkhouse is cozy and peaceful. A really fun place to stay!

This was just what I needed to unwind before my last leg home. The hosts were kind, pleasant to speak with, and very accommodating. Cows, horses, cotton tails, wild turkeys, and a few frogs all visited me right outside the doors of the cow camp site! The night lightening and thunderstorm was awesome to watch at 4am. Breakfast outside while looking over the ranch,and land beyond,was so peaceful. A cool breeze from the night before's storm was refreshing. Do make sure if weather calls for rain, you have a vehicle that can manage muddy dirt roads! Let's just say it was an exciting adventure on my drive out in my not so 4x4 mini suv. =)

Definately a unique place to stay, we enjoyed the vibe of being on a cattle ranch. The steaks we bought from mimi were very tasty and good value too!

Mimi and Tom's bunk house was such an awesome place. It ranks right up at the top of the many Airbandb place we have stayed. My loved the wide open space and the great weather. Everything was as advertised as stated. Mimi and Tom were very gracious and so helpful. If you are a true city slicker and need to be in communication and close to attractions this would not appeal to you. We wished we could have stayed longer. Wild turkeys were greeted us as well as a million Dover flying over the many wild sunflowers. We even saw 2 coveys of wild quail which is so seldom for us. Can't say enough about this place. Would love to come back. We grilled 2 steaks and they were very flavorful. Must take advantage of this if you arrive early enough to eat.

Our stay was lovely but too brief. Just passing through on our way home to Texas. Hosts were very friendly, easy and accommodating.

A little gem of a place! Mimi made us feel extremely welcome and escorted us to the bunkhouse to show us around and settle us in. It's exactly as it looks in the photos and really comfortable. The delicious bagels, cinnamon rolls and farm eggs were an extra special touch. Unfortunately we could only stay one night as we were just passing through but we would have loved to stay longer. Hopefully we'll make it back sometime and enjoy all the ranch and the bunkhouse have to offer.

Driving down the lane to their homestead and the bunkhouse filled me with joy and excitement for the evening and day ahead. After settling into the Bunkhouse, I went for a walk on the property. I intended it to be a short walk, but Blue, their dog showed up and led me along a path and in and out of trees. Before I knew it, I found myself on a ridge looking out at some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. The next day we watched Mimi move cattle from one pasture to another and my daughter got to ride her horse for a short distance. After that my daughter and I went for a hike on the property with Blue. We ended up on a different ridge. I think we only explored a fraction of the property. Mimi was very helpful making phone calls for me finding out the hours of the Billy the Kid Museum in Ft. Sumner, which we visited that same day. I also enjoyed the Dinosaur Museum in Tucumcari on our way to the Ranch. The Bunkhouse provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We had a cupboard stocked with some food items, a refrigerator also stocked with some food items, including farm fresh eggs. There were pots to cook with and dishes to eat on. The beds were comfortable and the TV was a comfort after dark. There were interesting magazines and books to read. Honestly, there were aspects to the bunk house that brought back fond memories of my Great Grandparents Farmhouse. The steaks they sold us were divine. My daughter keeps saying she wants to live on a Ranch. I would be very proud of her, if she grew up to be like Mimi. I have a great respect for what Tom and Mimi are doing on their Ranch.

We had a terrific stay in the Longhorn Room. It was very peaceful and comfortable, and it was just what we needed after a 14-hour drive to get there. Mimi was very friendly and gave us all the info we needed. We also went to dinner at a place in Tucumcari that she had recommended, and it was very good. We slept well, then had fun walking up the trail the next morning...their dog Blue even joined us as a "tour guide"! (Be careful for rattlesnakes, though...we saw one alongside the trail and stayed out of its way.) All of the breakfast foods available were a nice touch as well. I scrambled some eggs, and we also had bagels and juice. It was a wonderful getaway, and we would definitely stay here again.

At Mimi and Tom's place, sleep is easy and deep, like the colors of the scrub brush and grass and the hills and wild turkeys nearby. The building has seen decades of cowboys, and while in the modern age, it's easy to imagine it in years past. It's a great little trip stop over!

Beautiful hike up to the caprocks just 20 minute hike from the cabin. THe cabin itself is so charming, with cowboy decor, tiled cabinets, vintage wood floors, fireplace, journal entries from past visitors, and option to enjoy some of their own grass steaks...which were incredible. Couldnt ask for anything more except more time out there and friends to experience it's magic as well. I must mention that they allows dogs and something that I also treasure was hearing turkeys in the early mornin! Mimi and Tom were very gracious host, and also provided fresh eggs, bagels and juice for breakfast. -Brooke B.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Tom at their house and then went down to the guest house and were greeted by Mimi. We were given a tour of the house and it's amenities. For us, the listing was spot on. We had a group of five so we rented the entire bunk house. There was no neighborhood, just miles of beautiful vistas. We saw a large herd of antelope along the graded dirt drive between the highway and their house, turkeys, hawks and of course their dogs, cattle and horses. There is plenty of room to explore, we took a hike up to a high point above the ranch for even greater views. We also purchased the grass-fed tenderloin beef. It was so tender that we did not even need a knife to cut it. Incredibly delicious! The breakfast offerings of farm fresh eggs, bagels and cinnamon rolls completed our overnight stay.

Mimi and Tom are wonderful hosts, staying on their ranch is like visiting old friends. The cottage is lovely and offers everything you need. Visiting JX ranch gave us great insight into life in the country, only wish we stayed longer.

Beautiful holistic ranch with a historic bunkhouse full of quaint, old-timey feel. We made a 5 hour drive and this was the perfect spot to rest, forget about the highway and take in a couple of hikes along the ranch roads with our 5 year old boy. Mimi is a true cowgirl! She mades us feel so welcome and so did the 3 ranch dogs. Great cell reception here btw.

We really had a lovely stay at the bunkhouse. Mimi, Tom, the adorable doggies and the curious, entertaining cows made us feel so welcome. It was relaxed, beautiful, and easy for all of us to enjoy passing the time. It's not always easy for us to find activities that appeal to our 3 kids, since we have a wide range of ages (14, 11, and 4), but JX Ranch was perfect and EVERYONE was able to have fun both apart and together. :) The bunkhouse itself is totally charming and sweet. Our dog had a blast playing with the ranch dogs and we loved walking outside at various times of the day to see how things were always changing...the cattle were coming and going (staring at us with interest), the wild turkeys were hilarious to our 4-year-old, the long hike to the top of the rock was GORGEOUS, and our steaks were completely mouthwatering. We all had a great time and Mimi's warm hospitality was the highlight! Thanks again!!

Very reliable landlord! Thanks Tom and Mimi to direct us avoiding possible chaos when unexpected rain damaged the country road nearby. We finally took their advise to take a motel instead otherwise we might sink into mud!They also refunded our money very quickly, We would certainly come again and their kindness keep our cowboy dreams live! Thank you very much again!

What a wonderful place to stay. We were there just one night, but we had a great hike and bought steaks to bring along to our next stop. They were delicious. Mimi was a gracious hostess. The bunkhouse is charming. The highlight of our visit was our departure down the ranch road through part of Tom an Mimi's herd which included dozens of newborn calves! I highly recommend the JX Bunkhouse.

Mimi was a delight to meet and the location of this rustic cabin was unbeatable! I sincerely hope we can come again and stay a little longer! This was a very special experience for all of us!

We loved staying at the ranch! It was very quaint and cozy, and such a unique and special experience. We chose to buy some steaks from Mimi and Tom before arriving, and it was thawing and ready for us when we got there. The meat was delicious! I definitely recommend that. Mimi was a kind a gracious host. We also loved exploring and seeing the animals, and the bunkhouse was very comfortable. I would absolutely recommend the little jaunt to the south for any adventurous travelers on I-40! It's worth it!
