Built into the side of a mountain in remote mountain community in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, Riad Kasbah Oliver is a basic yet comfortable mountain accommodation using 3 typical Moroccan building styles surrounding a central courtyard.
We have 8 ensuite bedrooms and 4 without bathrooms. Family live on site and are available to help out as required. We run projects in the villages so welcome volunteers or donations to village projects including use of the village hamam.
The Kasbah is the first built to plan building in the village and the site had to literally be dug out of the mountainside in order to erect the building. We used 3 typical Moroccan building styles, kasbah (1 towered home), riad (rooms accessed off central courtyard garden) and Berber House (dimensions of the larger rooms allowing for the roof beams). All rooms on floor 2 have en suites while most of the rooms on level 1 have use of 2 wet rooms with toilet cubicles and a communal Moroccan mosaic sink. Room 2 and room 5 have ensuites. Room 2 is a large family room or dormitory room with plenty of room for up to 8 guests.
We have 4 sun loungers available for guest use (ask Mohamed for the cushions) on the large roof terrace. We also have 2 sofas in a corner of the courtyard garden for guest use. Salons are available for guest use in reception plus 2 others on the ground floor and a Berber salon on the 2nd floor. Tables and chairs are also available for guest use at the front of the kasbah, there are built in benches against the wall too to sit on.
Earth and stone houses, beautiful green valley cultivated by the locals on either side of the river. Changing scenery round every corner and over each mountain top.
A lovely Kasbah situated in a spectacular location with outstanding views . We were made to feel very welcome and all thoroughly enjoyed our short but memorable stay . Highly recommended !!
A place one of a kind in the most community based and tranquil areas, was a pleasure to spend time sharing the beauty of the local landscape and the welcoming of everyone we met!
