Places to stay in Comox-Strathcona J
This very private cottage is clean, bright and comfortable. A wood stove, glass door, and all natural wood interior with vaulted ceiling making it bright, comfortable, spacious, and inviting. The peace of the forest is rejuvenating and the outdoor bath tub for two a great joy. Beautiful hikes, kayaking, mountain biking, and whale watching opportunities abound, and on rainy days, an eclectic selection of dvds and great restaurants to explore. A wonderful place to unplug for a few days.
Great value in a beautiful private setting close to all amenities and trails. Pictures don't do this cottage and it's location justice. This private, wilderness setting is delightful and the cottage is clean, bright, open and comfortable. In winter the wood burning stove is cozy. The peace of the forest is rejuvenating and the outdoor bath tub for two a great novelty. You will feel like you are miles and miles away from it all. The vacation rental cottage is well appointed, full kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms with queen beds plus futon in the living room, vaulted ceiling and sky lights make it bright, including wood stove for ambiance. Incredible forest with large trees and ferns, warm and welcoming environment. Very private, great for family, couples and friends get-away. The cottage is close to all amenities, beaches and hiking. Spring is the perfect time for clam digging or oyster picking on the beaches as the low tides are now generally during the day. Quadra Island is great for boating, hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and much more. There is something for everyone, a variety of restaurants, weekend entertainment, all the conveniences of a city in a much smaller way. Did you know Quadra Island has the largest inland lake system of all the west coast islands. Come for your adventure. Everybody is welcome to drop in at the farm and view, feed or pet the animals. They are all friendly and tame, from the Chicks, Hens, Roosters, Ducks, Turkeys, Winston the pot bellied pig, and finally Molly the Dexter cow and her calf Connie. We also have a bull, Porter, who likes his space.
We live on the main road between the two villages of Quathiaski (Q) Cove and Heriot Bay. Both are only a quick drive away. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to Heriot Bay. Hitchhiking is easy on this road as well. The cottage is set back in the woods and quiet as can be.
  • If you're looking for tranquility and privacy you couldn't do better then Jerry's lovely nook in nestled in the woods. It was the perfect space to decompress from our busy city lives. The outdoor bathtub was especially dreamy!! We'd stay here again in a heart beat!!!

  • Our second stay at Big Tree Cottage. Even better than we remembered! A quiet and comfortable place to return to after a day of exploring on Quadra. Highly recommend.

Quadra Island, BC Canada, BC, Canada

If you're looking for waterfront privacy and immersion in nature, this Cortes Island cabin set in 10 acres of forest with stunning sunset views may be what you're looking for. Equipped w/ Wifi, full kitchen, phone. Rustic feel not for everyone.
Reachable by 2 ferries from Campbell River (first to Quadra, then to Cortes), Cortes Island is a small island with a progressive counter-culture vibe. The cabin is fully equipped with full kitchen, bath with tub and sawdust toilet, WiFi, ipod dock (iPhone 4 or earlier connector), tv/dvd, phone for local calls. It has a rustic feel in harmony with nature. Downstairs is an open living room, dining room and kitchen with wood stove and sunset views west out over Gorge Harbour. Upstairs is a large bedroom with 2 queen beds and 1 double bed. Surrounding the cabin are large wooden decks built into the mossy bluffs. There is a small rocky beach just below the cabin for swimming. If you'd like to explore the harbour by boat, kayaks are available for rent at the Gorge Harbour Marina (about a 5 min drive away). Note: the Wifi is new as of Aug 2014. Getting internet access to this remote spot is a expensive undertaking and there is limited monthly download capacity so we ask you avoid large downloads and it is not appropriate for very heavy users. Peak summer rentals are Saturday to Saturday only and for a minimum of a week. Other periods the dates are flexible but with a 4 day minimum. This cabin isn't for everyone so please check with us before booking and we'll make sure the place is right for you. I do not recommend the cabin for families with young children as there aren't really railings on the decks with steep drop-offs. Please also check the location of Cortes Island before booking, to get there from Vancouver requires 3 ferries and about 8 hours so it is not really suitable for a weekend trip from the city unless you are already on Vancouver Island. And the furniture and the appliances are old and funky as this is a family cabin that has changed little since the 70s; everything works of course but if you're looking for gleaming and new, this isn't the place for you. Some details / frequently asked questions: What is a sawdust toilet? There is an indoor toilet but it goes into a bucket (accessed from outside the cabin) which you must empty into an outhouse pit every few days. We do not live on the island so support is limited. A neighbor can help with emergencies. We do have a cleaner that comes in between visitors but there is no laundry at the cabin and no time for her to do laundry. As such we request visitors either bring their own linens (sheets, towels) or launder any used at the laundromat before they leave. You are also responsible for making sure all your dishes are done, the kitchen is tidy and the toilet pail is emptied before you go. You must also take all garbage with you or to the dump before you leave. The driveway up to the cabin is gravel and steep in parts. You don't need a 4WD but if there is snow on the ground you may be better off parking at the bottom of the driveway and walking the 300 m or so up to the cabin. The cabin is spacious but there are just two big open rooms plus the bathroom. The upstairs is separated by an open stairway so keep in mind that you can't close a door and get full noise separation.
Cortes Island is a small island with about 800 year round residents. Summer time population is significantly greater. During the off-season the groceries stay open but not much else. The island is fairly sprawling though, most things are between 5 and 10km from the cabin so a car is pretty much required. During the summer there are also a selection of restaurants. Too see some recommended island places scroll down to the map and click the [-] button to see some of the places we recommend on the island.
  • Really fantastic place. I hope to come back soon.

    Katy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this space! The location is breathtaking, and the cabin is so quaint and cozy that even a day spent watching the pouring rain by the woodstove is a treat. We enjoyed using the kitchen and the view from the deck and table so much that we never ate out at all. We were happy to discover that we were able to launch our kayaks right from shore (with a little creativity). This is a perfect spot from which to enjoy the entire island.

    Belinda2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, rustic place with amazing ocean view and breathtaking sunsets. Great to fish, swim, Kajak and hiking! We can very much recommend this place!

    Christian2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were in search of a quaint, easy-going getaway and we are so happy we found Doug and Doris's place. The photos don't quite do the place justice it was just so welcoming and relaxing - we spent most of our time outside on the deck just taking in the surroundings. The cabin had everything we needed and the sunsets every night were incredible. The sawdust toilet isn't as bad as you might think - so if that's deferring you, don't let it! Super easy to find and driving around the island was very quick. The local health food grocer had everything we could have imagined (being vegans, we were happy to see lots of plant based options)! If we ever make our way back to Cortes, we would love to stay here again!

    Berçin2019-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Charming, rustic and slightly eclectic place on a quiet bay with great sunsets. Lot's of little curios throughout the cabin. If you are looking to get away from everything and relax I would certainly recommend this place!

    Michael2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This is a beautiful cabin in the most fantastic location. We loved it so much we extended our stay by a night. Cannot wait to return.

    Lottie2019-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nested in the quiet seaside area of Gorge Harbour. Wake up to birds chirping and watch the sunset from the deck or in the cabin with large windows while you watch orcas swimming around the harbor. Location is easy to find and fairly close to the main town area as well. A word of advice for future goers to bring their own TP but otherwise we've been very happy at the amenities provided here. Would love to stay again!

    Joe2019-03-31T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful gem! Great hosts! The water well pump was on the fritz but Anya communicated the whole time, made sure we had clean drinking bottled water, and offered to refund a portion of our cost for the inconvenience. Thoughtful and on top of it!

  • what a perfect place! the views, the location, the cleanliness, the hot tub! everything promised was delivered. highly recommended!

  • Tony & Donyne's place is sparkling clean and very stylish. The one inquiry we had (the BBQ propane ran out) was handled within literally minutes of texting them. I would happily recommend their space.

    George2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tony & Donyne’s villa was just what we expected it to be! The private beach and hot tub was outstanding and my boyfriend and I really made sure we got good use out of it during our 2 night stay. We were super impressed at the small little touches around the house and how clean the whole place was! We did expect better views of the beach and water from the villa but nonetheless, everything else was superb and is definitely a place we would love to come back to!

  • Snatch it up while its still up

    William2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place with well-stocked kitchen. Cannot see the ocean from the balcony or hot tub. Only thing I found a little odd was the number of rules that come with the place - there is a substantial cleaning fee but they still ask you to take out all garbage and recycle, to ensure all dishes are clean and to even do the laundry for the towels. Hot tub was nice but it sits on the driveway under a roof so can't see the stars or the sea, but it is nice and private. Lovely bathroom with heated floors! Responsive and friendly host who even called me to let me know the place was ready for earlier check-in if I wanted.

    Stephanie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great and relaxing weekend. The villa is beautifully done and very comfortable. Great for a winter weekend away too. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. There is a nice deck, a gas fireplace, a big screen tv for watching movies and a hot tub!

    Audrey2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Villa is a beautiful clean space with great views. Everything you need is already there! The fire place and hottub make it a great spot to relax. My beauty conscious lady was very happy to see a blow dryer and hair straightener already there. The whole decor has a very thoughtful feel to it. Beautiful kitchen, bathroom, deck we will definitely be back!

Nature walks are near by and an abundance of clean air will enhance your rest and relaxation. Re-charge yourself with PADMA. PADMA is located on Cortes Island, British Columbia, and is well known for its many stunning beaches, gigantic forests, and a vibrant community. There are many awe inspiring beaches and lagoons where you can collect oysters and cook them on the barbecue. There is plenty to see and do here on the island and a vehicle is highly recommended. We call our 12 acre property “Greenland” and we believe in composting, organic gardening and most of all healthy bees. Our home is located in the valley and PADMA sits on the bluff with its own access road. Our cultivated land is very enchanting, green and lush with flowers growing out of enormous stumps. There is no electricity at the yurt, but we can facilitate with our re-charging station. Set on a bluff our yurt platform was hand crafted with wood harvested from our property. This structure is raised 8 feet off the ground and the large deck offers ocean, mountain and stunning sunset view. The sound of bird song in the trees, white tailed deer passing by on their daily route, warm dappled light falling through the forest canopy onto the mossy rocks gives this secluded spot a unique atmosphere in which to unwind and relax. Camping: Sleeping in a yurt is a truly magical experience. With stars shining through the dome there will be no need for television. Chop wood, carry water. Our wood burning stove will keep you cozy and our spacious yurt with all its handmade furniture has a special rustic charm as well a basic level of comfort not normally associated with camping. • a wonderful place!

    Deborah2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Life changing, simple as that. I manage several unique Airbnb properties around Los Angeles and this is absolutely incredible. Detach from the stress and angst of your life and experience the pure energy present on this land. No real way to explain it but the pure quiet and harmony on Cortes island is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. There are a number of hikes, swims, walks, and people to meet on the island. Home cooked meals at the yurt are hard to beat, everything is provided, all kitchenware and appliances, utilities, all directions and instructions are thorough and well thought out. You will learn to appreciate small things in life during your time here. It changed me, it will change you.

    Jake2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Padma was one of the best AirBnB experiences we’ve had. The space is thoughtfully put together to make your stay comfortable, from the outdoor candles to light your evenings on the deck to the indoor wood stove to keep you warm as needed. The location is perfect with absolute privacy and silence except for the birds. We loved everything about our experience and plan to come again!

    Megan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Serenity and a picturesque forest setting. I loved this place.

  • Best Air B and B I have booked in my travels so far. The island is amazing and full of hidden gems. Our stay at PADMA was AMAZING. The yurt was built with so much love and everything around us was beautiful. We did not want to leave. The hospitality from Inga and Natasha was also amazing..Giving us tips and spots to check out on the island, a warm welcome, and making us feel at home. We love the place so much we will be back next year for sure. Thank you for sharing your hidden paradise. What a great way to spend time away.

  • What a great place to spend some time getting away from it all. Beautiful views, charming cabin and welcoming, warm hosts. What more could you ask for? Highly recommend!

    Carolyn2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a homey and beautifully crafted cabin. Well stocked kitchen and access to canoes, what a deal! Wood fire to keep you warm on those cold rainy days. And the chill-ness of the hosts. Another plus! Sadly only booked two nights, but would recommend three...one day for hiking to manzanita, another for canoeing down the inlet and the last for visiting town/brewery. We will be back ;)

    Sharon2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is excatly as described. Super quiet and peaceful. Jurgen is a great host and his tow BIG dogs super friendly. We had a great time, spending a day hiking a portion of the sunshine coast trail. would definitely recommend this place.

  • Wow what a beautiful place. Highlights in no particular order: petting the puppies, canoeing, eating apples, talking with Cindy, enjoying the view of the water as the sun goes down. Definitely recommend staying here to anyone who wants to unplug and relax. Don’t forget to bring a good book. :)

    Ben2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • An idyllic location for a back to nature get away, and creative inspiration!

    Jim2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, wonderful location, a total get away. My dog and I enjoyed lots of lovely hiking on the Sunshine Coast Trail which was a five minute walk from the cabin. We also spent happy evenings on the beach watching the sunsets.

    Josephine2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage exceeded our expectations as soon as we pulled up the driveway. Both the cottage and property were beautiful in every way, Jurgen and Cindy were wonderful hosts, and it is in a great location. It was the perfect home away from home during our road trip! We began planning future visits even before we’d left — we highly recommend this Airbnb!

We offer a two bedroom fully furnished home located on Cortes Island. This beach house is a wonderful place to unwind, breathe the ocean air and experience the quiet surroundings. Enjoy the views from the patio or have a beach fire. Inside get cozy by the fireplace with one of the many books provided for your stay.
Cortes Beach House is a fully equipped, two bedroom home located in Mansons Lagoon. The beachfront house has fresh linens, clean relaxing furniture with many of the amenities required for a comfortable stay. Doors open to a inviting deck overlooking the lagoon. The tidal flow is exquisite to watch. Once a day the bay empties exposing the ocean floor. This is a great time to take a long walk, explore the tide pools and collect dinner. If you enjoy swimming we strongly recommend "riding the tide" from the Spit located at the opening of the lagoon. In the winter months the low tides are at night and the star gazing is quite magical from the beach.
Cortes is a perfect getaway island for visitors. It is also a seafood lovers dream. With clams and oysters covering the beach in front of the beach house. We offer a clam and oyster harvesting lesson to all our guests. This is especially fun in the winter months when the tide is low during the night. Buckets, rakes, and headlamps are provided. Just bring your gumboots and we will show you how it's done. We love how the island lights up in the summer months with people getting away from the hustle of their normal lives. Although Cortes does double in population in the summer time it still has that "laid back island feel" to it. Making it a great place to vacation off main tourist locations.
  • Such a sweet spot! I booked myself a songwriting retreat and this was the perfect peaceful and cozy place to create. Cortes Island is beautiful and being right on the ocean was lovely. Melissa was wonderful, the cottage was super clean with nice linens and an AMAZING library of books. Thank you Melissa!!

  • This tranquil cottage on the edge of the bay is truly stunning. From keeping warm by the wood stove or out on the deck enjoying the ocean air makes every part of the stay enjoyable. Melissa is a fantastic host, the cottage was clean and had everything we needed and more. The thoughtful touch of fresh eggs from the chickens on the property was lovely. We will be back!

  • This was our second time staying with Melissa and I would highly recommend it to my friends or family! Melissa was wonderful and great at answering all of my questions ahead of time. The space is beautiful and was very comfortable for our group of 4 and perfect for our dog. This is a very special place where you can go clamming and harvest oysters!

  • Melissa's place was a great get away on cortes. I was on the island for business but hope to return to this spot for a vacation.

  • Brilliant quiet, gorgeous setting in a secluded property. The Lagoon is at your door step, ever changing and beautiful. The firewood stove kept us toasty and warm. We found on our second day beautifully chopped up extra pile of kindling for our use - thoughtful touch. The cabin is spacious, kitchen very well appointed, bedding very comfortable and blankets helped keep us even more cozy. We will come back for sure! Thank you for providing a very peaceful setting to match the outdoor setting.

The property is surrounded with giant evergreens situated on the quaint and quiet Quinsam river. The suite is in a separate building on the property, very private. It has funky slate floors, skylights and 12 foot ceilings. A fully loaded kitchen, which comes stocked with coffee beans, an assortment of teas. A cozy separate bedroom. There is a covered deck with a table and chairs where you can enjoy a beverage while BBQing. We also have a PVR for recording your favorite shows Recording.
Then there is the river and our own little beach. Take a glass of wine and stroll down to the seating area for a tranquil glass. We are also very close to town, yet we are totally in the country. Anything you want to see or do in Campbell River is literally minutes away. Very quiet yet you don't have to be, as your in a carriage house separate from main dwelling.
We reside on the lovely Quinsam River, which is a feeder river into the Campbell. We are surrounded by beautiful walking, hiking trails. Most well known is the Canyon view trail, as well as the famous Elk Falls suspension bridge. The Quinsam River salmon fish hatchery is located just up the road. In August the pink salmon run starts (no there not actually pink). There is also Coho and of course the mighty Chinook or King salmon. They can get up to 45 pounds. They come up river starting in Sept. thru to the end of October. The fisheries Dept. actually captures them with nets right on our beach to take them up to hatchery for milking. This can be seen usually on a daily basis from late Sept. to the end of Oct. Depending on river levels.

The lake right outside your door is stunningly beautiful..We paddled the kayaks and made a fire outside to watch the sunset. The hosts are very accessible and not at all in your business. • Fabulous stay at the magical dome! Very creative, interesting and highly cozy space, with the wonderful bonus of a relaxing sauna! Roisin gave us a warm and informative welcome and we appreciated the very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that they have created for their space. A perfect place to spend a fall weekend playing board games by the fire, and a great base for exploring the beautiful northern Sunshine coast! The dome is the epitome of hygge :)

    Monica2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 had a lovely stay at the magical dome. The forest setting is beautiful and serene. Roisin was a thoughtful and gracious host. The dome itself had many artful features and accommodated us comfortably. The kids loved the sleeping loft, foldable foam chairs and the frog pond!

    Melissa And Ian2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Magical Dome is just that, a Magical Dome in a secluded Forrest. Looks exactly like the pictures but better. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare a tasty feast. The bathhouse and sauna were relaxing and top notch. The beds were comfortable and made for great long sleeps at the end of each daily adventure. An amazing quiet getaway for my girlfriend and I. No cell reception or WiFi at the Dome which made it easy to unconnect from city life. If needed it is available 5 minutes away in the town. We rented bikes in Powell River got to the dome and parked the car. We biked in and around the small town of Lund. Not too far from Magical Dome. We went on a kayaking trip with Terracentric Coastal Adventures.... We saw a pod of dolphins and seals. That was a highlight of the trip! We went over to Savoury Island with our bikes and toured the island. Check out the sandy white beaches at South Beach, they are unreal! Hawaii of the North Pacific. Nancy makes some killer cinnamon buns and coffe. Check out Nancy's Bakery, I ate 2.5 every day! On our last night and last bike ride back to the Magical Dome we came across a black bear!! Bears, Dolphins, Seals, Eagles, Islands and white sand beaches... Unbelievable, Almost magical. This amazing trip started and ended at the Magical Dome.

    Darnell2019-07-30T00:00:00Z

    Wes2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Phil and Roisin were wonderful hosts! The area was beautiful, there was lots to discover, and the Dome was exactly the weekend getaway my sister and I were looking for

    Aleina2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Upon arrival, you can expect to have all your basic needs provided and then some. It truly feels like going home. It doesn’t matter how much time you spend at the magical dome it will captivate you. My one night feels like time stood still to make it seem longer. Thank you Roisin & Phil. I love all that my senses were able to capture, this time.

  • A truly unique airbnb experience! This quirky cabin is perfect if you are looking for some time off the grid. A lovely cosy space with an interesting history that feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. We enjoyed using the sauna and visiting the bakery and restaurant in Lund.

    Sally2019-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING! From the moment we booked to the moment we left, Phil and Roisin were accommodating and kind. The Dome is amazing for kids, and my husband and I enjoyed the Sauna and reading books by the stove before we went to bed. I could recommend enough.

  • Amazing place. The photos of the space are lovely, but the space is even more amazing in person. My partner and I went here for a relaxing weekend, away from technology and the busy-ness of the city, and it was everything we wanted and more. Frances was very welcoming. We also appreciated the hospitality she extended to our dog. We will definitely be back!

  • 3rd time back! We live in Seattle and it takes roughly 10-12 hours to get here. But let me tell you.... this place will get a hold of your heart and not let go. Just how peaceful and secluded this ocean front cabin, is too amazing to put into words. Francis and Carl have become our friends. Karl went fishing and brought us a 15 inch wild trout. All we had to do was just throw it on a grill. Overall, it’s sad to leave, but we definitely are coming back again :)

Winter season pricing now in effect! Unforgettable place to get away and get in touch with nature. Fishing, kayaking, hiking and biking Quadra Island is an excellent place to do both everything and nothing.
Located in Gowlland Harbour on Quadra Island, you are just seconds away from whales, dolphins, orcas, seals, sea lions and crabs right off the dock! A unique cabin with a “shabbysheek” look and beach feel.
Ocean, marina, fishing, whale watching, snorkelling, kayaking, hiking and biking

  • Place is in a great spot, looks like a lovey place when its warmer to use their Kayaks. Its a "resort" style place so other ppl will be around you, its not a private solo cabin. Parking is limited but they make it work. Has a main "Lodge" area to hang out in and have a little more room since the room itself is small. Lovely Island and great place for the value.

NOTE: COVID-19 UPDATE! As of March 21/2020, we are no longer accepting new bookings and will be assessing day by day. As long as Covid 19 threatens the safety and well being of all of us, we will not be welcoming guests to Bold Point. Our charming, oceanfront boathouse is situated on a private, and peaceful 50-acre peninsula. Located across the property from the main house and with no visible neighbors, you will feel like you are on your own little island oasis.
The cabin is situated right above the boat dock so you can come and go with the kayaks, paddle-board or canoe as you choose. 2 kayaks, 1 paddleboard, 1 canoe and all safety equipment are included in your stay. Moorage is available for boats up to 30ft. and electricity and fresh water are available at the dock. The cabin has good cell service for most carriers......but you don't have to tell that to your Boss!
We are right on the ocean, with protected, year-round moorage and direct access to great scuba-diving, fishing, prawning, crabbing, whale-watching, sight-seeing, kayaking and paddle-boarding. We are also a 3 minute drive, or 20 minute walk to the Main Lake Provincial Park lake system, which is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, swimming, cliff-jumping, paddle-boarding, and camping. Quadra Island has an extensive amount of well mapped and maintained hiking trails that lead you past spectacular views to breath-taking destinations. Choose from short + easy or full-day + hard out routes, knowing you're returning to the comforts of your well appointed cabin at the end of the day. Cook for yourselves, or enjoy a night out at one of Quadra's restaurants...we have recommendations !
  • I’m just going to tell you right now, if this place is available, just go ahead and book it. My girlfriend and I just got back today, and my mind is reeling trying to figure how to best communicate just how beautiful and wonderful this place is- the stunning inlets, glistening waters, incredible ocean life... all from the views outside your window, on your patio, from upon your dock. The accommodations are elegant, cozy, and wonderfully compliment the atmospheric wilderness that surrounds it... everything down to the bed sheets are thoughtfully appointed. You don’t need a plan when you come here. Spend your days kayaking the epic waters, hiking the forests, or fishing the sea... it’s all here, literally right out your front door. Spend your mornings on the Adirondack chairs sipping coffee watching the fog roll through the mountains in the distance. Spend your evenings musing by the fire. We have stayed all over, and never have we been met with such sincere hospitality. Thomas is an amazing, kind, and fiercely thoughtful host who went above and beyond to make our stay special (I don’t say that lightly, *truly* above and beyond). I could go on, but let me just promise you that you are in good hands.

    Mike & Katherine2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin in a gorgeous location. Wonderful hospitality, and a chance to stay in this beautiful part of the world. Best marine wildlife we’ve ever seen, paddling too. Quiet gem for nature lovers.

    Laura2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you want comfort, serenity and privacy on Quadra, then this boathouse if for you. It is a truly special place. The fact that Moana and Thomas are great hosts is the icing on the cake. We loved everything about it.

    Guy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing. We even went for fresh oyster picking which was a new experience for us. We used the canoe and right in front of the cabin there is a big oyster bank. The owners are super friendly and accommodating. Thomas even had a surprise waiting for us in the fridge. This place is a hidden gem.

    Sohail2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was a perfect place to stay just for hanging out and also as a jump off point to go explore and fish. The dock was perfect to keep our boat and the fish cleaning station and BBQ were nice amenities.

    Nathan2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin was in a beautiful and quiet location as shown in the photos and was great place to return to in the evening, after the 30 minute drive from nearest restaurant, coffee shop and supermarket.

    Ray2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Spectacular!!! We were looking for a place to get away from people and enjoy nature and we hit the jack pot with this place. Loved every bit of it! It is about 25 minutes or so from the nearest grocery store or restaurant so you might want to stop on way and pickup some items. But the remoteness makes it extra special. Oh, and the kayaks were great fun!

    Diana2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most secluded, peaceful and captivating places we’ve stayed. Moana and her family were so welcoming and the entire cabin was clean and tidy- ready for us to walk right in and relax. Being able to have coffee down on the dock in the morning is very special. We took out the kayaks and saw some seals. It was the best place we stayed on our entire trip. I would love to come back!!!

The Guest House is an adorable 250 sq ft self-contained bunky, with a 3/4 queen sized murphy bed, pullout sofa bed, and full bathroom with shower. It is located approximately 50 meters from the beach house. You can rent the Beach House alone, or for an additional $50 both the Beach House and Guest House. The Beach House and Guest House share the property with another house that is rented to a lovely long term tenant. The property is secluded and private. One of the first things you'll notice is just how quiet it is here, with the exception of the sound of the ocean, a raven or humpback whale calling in the distance.
Please note that the property is on the southeast coast of Quadra Island, about 5 km from Quathiaski Cove, where the ferry from Campbell River arrives. (For some reason Airbnb incorrectly lists the property as in Quathiaski Cove.) The Beach House and Guest House are on a quiet, secluded street on the southeast coast of Quadra Island. There are trails through rain forests (perfect for walking or running) and beach combing for miles. If you haven't been to Quadra Island yet, you're in for a treat. A closely kept secret, it has yet to be overrun by tourists and traffic like some islands further south. Quadra is not only stunning, it has so much to offer, including whale watching, sea kayaking, fishing, scuba diving, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, artisan stands, farmers' markets, music festivals, petroglyphs, and the fabulous Kwagiulth Museum and Cultural Centre. Swim in the ocean or in beautiful fresh water lakes in the summer. Climb mountains and see a 360 view of Vancouver Island, Desolation Sound, and the mainland mountains. Hike to Surge Narrows or Shellilaligan pass. Sing karaoke at the Heriot Bay Pub. Enjoy yoga, pickle ball, and other activities at the community centre. Eat at one of the many delicious restaurants on the island. There is so much to do here. Kay Dubois Provincial Park trail is 200 m away. Rebecca Spit Provincial Park is 8 km away, near Heriot Bay. A well stocked grocery store is 5 km away in Quathiaski Cove. Delicious restaurants open year round.
  • There’s not much that can beat the views of Adrienne’s place and the accommodation was more modern and spacious than I was expecting. Also Adrienne’s responses were really quick. I would definitely recommend this place and will stay there again when in the neighbourhood.

  • My wife and I had the most amazing weekend at this place. The views of the ocean and mountains from the deck are wonderful. Even if the weather is terrible (like our first night) it is so cozy to turn on the fireplace and play some scrabble or read some books. Having a full kitchenette was very handy for those days you just want to relax and eat in. Overall it was a great experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

  • Beautiful clean cabin at a great location

  • Adrienne’s place was beyond incredible! Expectations of beauty and serenity, comfort and style were far than surpassed. I would visit the Beach House over and over and over again. Perfection.

  • Beautiful location, ocean front and watch see the sunrise from your bed! We were surprised and grateful for All the extra cooking necessities, mixer, espresso machine, cooking spices, oil, baking needs and so much more! It felt like we were staying in a home away from home. Very cozy and will be returning!

  • What a wonderful beach house! The photos don't do justice to the experience and feeling of the house, or the astonishing views. We were certainly delighted to see whales within 45 mins of our arrival, then again every day we were there. After a week long road trip from Calgary to Vancouver, this was the week long chill out we needed from our city life in London UK. We explored Quadra Island including Heriot Bay, Village Bay Lake & Cape Mudge Lighthouse, but mostly enjoyed the views from the beach house. There are 2 great grocery stores; one each at Quathiaski Cove & Heriot Bay which carry everything you need. At the Cove shopping centre, there is also a nice little cafe called Kameleon; and be sure to visit Sheldon who runs a Gourmet Hot Dog stand nearby on week days, then at the Saturday Farmer's market. The beach house was superbly fitted out, and we enjoyed a BBQ severn nights in a row. Standing on the balcony under a canopy of stars, and hearing the whales will be something we shall always remember. We would love to visit again one day, and will highly recommend Quadra Island beach house to everyone we know.

  • The location of this place is so amazing! I wasn't feeling well the first couple of days after arriving but waking up to the ocean views made the trip worth it alone. It was great to have full access to a kitchen as I cooked a meal almost every evening. It was also super handy to have onsite laundry. Adrienne's place was just as described, thank you so much for having me!

    Kim2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Based on other travelers' descriptions, and the photos, we were so excited for our visit to Adrienne's place, and it did not disappoint! It's an extraordinary location, looking out on water, islands, and mountains. The house itself is lovely and light. The deck is lovely for starting out at the water. The detached space worked well for our teenage daughter; it is slightly farther from the main house than I had thought, and is right behind another house but that one was only occupied briefly during the time we were there. The house is just a few minutes by car from the commercial center of the island, including grocery store, drugstore, restaurants, and ferry, and close also to the lovely Rebecca Spit park area, kayak rentals, etc. Taking in the scenic beauty was a highlight, with wildlife including eagles (a young eagle screeching by overhead), seals, heron, other water birds, a humpback whale one morning!, and a "pod" of distance swimmers who reminded me for all the world of a pod of whales traveling by :-) It was fun to watch the beach shrink and grow with the tides, and while the beach is not easy to walk on (large/medium/small rocks, some unexpectedly tippy--it requires thoughtful footing), it was great for peering into the tidepools that appear at low tide. Overall, a lovely place to take in the extraordinary beauty of the area.

  • A wonderful little cabin overlooking the lake, and Toni and Joe were very welcoming and accommodating hosts, helping me with things I hadn't expected help with, which made my trip all the more easier and relaxing. They were great! The place is great, especially for one or two people. Really close to town, I walked frequently to the little stores and cafes.

    Evan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, clean, inviting and so close to the lake, the food coop and the cafe.

    Lisa And Harrison2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! Our hosts were so welcoming and very kind. The space is grand too; clean, private, comfy and sweet. The location is also terrific, a short stroll from the lake or from local stores. It's the perfect spot to stay on any Cortes trip! Very highly recommended.

  • We can recommend this cosy cabin. Good location, great hosts. We keep coming back.

    Elisabeth2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The island, the cabin, and the hosts are absolutely wonderful. There is nothing missing and we couldn't think of a better and more relaxed holiday. We experienced so much friendliness, help, and support. I can highly recommend everyone to go there and enjoy. Be careful - you will probably never want to leave again.

    Zoe2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • I am a lifelong Cortes lover and was super pleased with Toni and Joe’s hospitality. The cottage was clean, well appointed and pleasantly breezy on hot days. We especially loved our mornings having breakfast and enjoying the view from the little patio. It's so clever how the huge tree to the right of the patio creates a natural privacy screen!! Our hosts were warm and friendly, and we felt welcome from the very start. They went above and beyond expectations to make sure we had as good a time as possible. This was such a memorable getaway! Try the Cosy Cottage; you will be SO glad you did! We will absolutely be back!

  • Lynda's home is a real jaw dropper. The views from all of the windows are breathtaking, and the property itself is just indescribably beautiful. It's literally a lush rainforest. Retro suite but very comfortable and very clean. We hope to be back again soon!

  • Beautiful views. Relaxing to have a dip in the hot tub. Cute, rustic, gulf island, antique style space with all necessary amenities. Lynda came down to say hi and was very accommodating and helpful.

  • Lynda and her husband are very kind and we're amazing hosts. They helped out with anything we asked for, including giving us a boost when our car battery died. Other that when we needed something, they respected our privacy so we had a very relaxing stay.

    Sonam2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing time at Lynda's, when it was time to leave we realized there was still so much more to see and explore just on the property itself. Tons of privacy and everything you need. Would go back in a heart beat!!

    Whitney2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Harborview. Lynda and her husband are a very nice and discrete couple who took a good care of us during our stay. As it's was pretty chilly at this time of the year, Lynda turned on the heater before our arrival and let us some fresh and filtred water on the fridge. The suite was just perfect: pretty, super clean, comfortable and cosy with everything you need to cook and have a pleasant and relaxing time. The view from the suite is just gorgeous. Even if they are closed of the harbor (3 minutes drive), you can't actually see it as Lynda's place is located in a beautiful bay. We were delighted to watch every evening the beautiful sunset from our suite or from the deck. Quadra is a beautiful island with a lot of trails to explore and Lynda's place is for sure the perfect place to relax after your adventures. Thanks again Lynda!

A Glamping Paradise...This quaint Treehouse steps from the warm waters edge in our stunning location of Quadra Island, will be a smashing hit for your body, mind and soul. The treehouse is nestled in cedars overlooking the lake and just 7km drive from surge narrows. This property is easily accessible by car and is a sought after location for visitors to the island and locals alike. There is a cozy double bed. A heated bathroom with shower is just a short walk through forest path.
This tree house offers canoe and kayak to borrow off the dock. It sits beside the best swimming hole on the island. You will be able to watch the sunset from your deck every night and listen to the birds as you wake. The Tree house is made of wood inside and out and does not have a heating source. There are warm cozy comforters to keep you toasty. We recommend bringing someone to cuddle with and share this epic memory maker. There is a little table to write or eat on and an OUTDOOR kitchen equipped with stove, kettle french press, cutting board, utensils, pots and pans, drinking water jug and blocks of ice for your cooler and a fridge and freezer. **Bring your own food to avoid travelling back to town once you have arrived**. We recommend you keep your food locked up in the car or in the neighbouring carriage house as we want to keep the critters outside your space. Kat and Dave are owners of the property and are excited to greet you. They have a BIG puppy called Tico, a great pyrenees. Kat also speaks Czech fluently. Kat and Dave have provided towels, bedding and toiletries if needed. There is also a stacking laundry inside the bathroom for you to borrow if you need for $5.
Village Bay lake is home to a few full time residence. It is known for its crystal clean waters and 5 linking lakes. One of the popular lakes is Main lake and can be explored by boat. There is a launch and dock just before you turn on to Bold point road. Locals will often come to enjoy the tranquility of the Provincial park and boat to their cabins. There is a few access points to the ocean in the neighbourhood where you will find a plethora of sea wildlife.
  • Great spot! Peaceful and quiet. Enjoying canoe-ing on the lakes and chilling on the dock... with delicious Kat’s banana bread!

    Sylvain2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • With warm sun filled weather you can expect relaxation on the lake and in the treehouse. The setting is so quiet and peaceful especially after everyone has gone back to school. Grabbing an island map from the ferry terminal is key. Kat and Dave are kind people willing to help if you have any questions and want to know more about the area and places to adventure to. If you are looking to not be interrupted they respect that as well and will leave you be. This was a much needed unplugged and peaceful get away for us.

    Nicole2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Whatever your preferences are, be it being in nature, stargazing, water activities or just experiencing peace and quietness, this place has it all.

    Vladimir2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This a really sweet spot for a glamping get away (a nice step up from tenting). The location is superb if you like swimming, paddling and hiking. The host were wonderful and gave us lots of space and privacy. The treehouse is small but tucked away along the waterfront. It was very quiet and peaceful especially at night - the star gazing was terrific. We will be back!

    Paul2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience. Very peaceful.

    Mindy2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our 2nd visit to the treehouse and believe it or not, it was even better than the 1st time! It is the perfect detox from your busy life. Moreover, Kat and David continue to improve the space and access to amenities. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience. It's an ideal spot to be immersed in nature, without being completely "in the wild". Make sure you pack sunscreen and bug spray for that beautiful summer weather!

    Olivia2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two peaceful nights for our anniversary, it was unique and comfortable. The private dock was a beautiful place to sit and absorb the serenity. It was so fun to have free use of the kayak and paddle boards to explore the crystal clear gem of a lake. The special baked treat provided by Kat for our anniversary was an added bonus.

    Carla2019-08-19T00:00:00Z

Perhaps you would like to freshen up after your trip, so you walk through the 8’ Solid Fir door to the luxury master bathroom with live edge maple countertops and double vanities – wait are those heated, real marble floors I feel under my feet? Ahhh! And there is even a separate toilet room – perfect. Now maybe you feel like a refreshing beverage and a snack, so you head over to the full kitchen with leathered granite countertops, gas range, fridge, microwave and even a dishwasher. Got a sore back from traveling? No worries – grab your personal bath robes and spa towels and step out to your private spa for a soothing soak with a view. Shhhh – what’s that spray? Is it an orca? After a therapeutic soak why not head over to the sandy beach and grab a kayak – the water looks so pristine and inviting – it’s crystal clear! Why not try your hand at fishing for cod right in front of your suite with one of the fishing rods. (provided) If you catch one - grill it up on your private BBQ. Mmmm! Listen to the gentle sound of waves rolling in. What’s that splashing in the water? – oh that’s just Sammy and Sally, our local seals - be sure to say hi to them - you will know which one they are if they turn and look at you when you call their name :). If you’re quiet and don’t approach him (he’s very shy) you may even be lucky enough to see the silhouette of Harry, our resident heron fishing patiently on the rocks. Look - did you see that! There’s an eagle catching a fish in the famous Frenchman’s Pool directly in front of Orca’s Play. Spectacular! Did you know that on August 13, 1983 a 62 lb Tyee King Salmon was caught in Frenchman’s Pool and 13 days later another one weighing 61 lbs (and guys eat your hearts out - both were caught by women). Well time to head back to your suite and kick back on the reclining leather sofa and read a book – that is if you can take your eyes off the dynamically ever-changing view of ‘Tugboat Alley’ long enough…. Bedtime - and look at that amazing Sleep Number King Size Bed complete with luxury linens – guaranteed to give you a perfect sleep every time! Need to freshen up your clothes – no problem – there is a private, complimentary washer and dryer in your suite. Good morning! Enjoy your morning coffee with a view. There is even a liquor store just one minute away that’s open late, 7 days a week. The local government wharf has a sea monger for fresh seafood right out of the Pacific Ocean – just 10 minutes away. There are 3 gourmet restaurants within walking distance - Dolphin’s Resort, Painter’s Lodge or take a water taxi from Painter’s over to April Point, as well as a number of restaurants within 5 – 10 minute drive or order out from one of the many other local restaurants and do what we call a “Staycation”. (Who wants to eat anywhere else :) The residences at Orca’s Play features 240’ of beachfront on the ever changing Discovery Channel in the Salish Sea, where you will both see and hear, depending on the time of year, majestic orcas and humpback whales, curious seals & sea lions, dolphins splashing, bald eagles soaring, as well as deer and other wildlife. (We jokingly say at times 'welcome to our National Park') In the months of May to October watch luxurious cruise ships pass by. Storm watching is great in the winter months - you will see ships and tugboats fight their way through the wind & waves as they pass by through the mist. During winter months you can golf in the morning, then drive 45 mins and ski at world famous Mt Washington, then return to your personal Spa to relax those muscles, which feels especially good during the winter months. See you soon!!
We are located just 5 min to town and 12 min to our brand new Hospital. Some of the local activities – should you wish to venture out are chartered salmon fishing or Heli fishing - Campbell River boasts being the World’s Salmon Capital. Go skiing at the Alpine Resort, Mt Washington (45 mins drive) – also open in the summer for hikes and biking. Whale and grizzly bear watching tours are very popular as well as wine or whiskey tasting tours or go golfing on any one of three beautiful golf courses. There are many crystal-clear lakes and rivers for hiking -including the close by - Canyon River view walk along the Campbell River. Look over the thundering Elk Falls with a suspension bridge, go kayaking or beachcombing and check out the awesome stars on a clear night. Go for a quiet walk or bike ride in the safe, family-oriented neighborhood. Walk over and enjoy a cocktail and appy’s at Painter’s Lodge or Dolphins Resort – also great for dining. Or just kick back and enjoy a cold beer and pizza by the beach fire.

  • Best place to stay on Vancouver Island. The only comparable is Point No Point. Everything you need is here. House coats for hot tub. Recliners for movie might. High end appliances, excellent mattress, sound proofing and window coverings for good sleep and privacy. Clean and well planned space. We hiked Ripple Rock and it was the perfect day.

  • The stay was wonderful, Les and Cheryl's place is one place we will return to for sure! The house is perfect for a couple to have a relaxing getaway together. It was exactly what we needed for our anniversary, a hot tub, soaker tub big enough for two in the huge bathroom, and a perfect spot to have a campfire on the beach at night! The view was also amazing, every morning we drank our coffees together and watched the wild life and marine traffic in the channel!

    Mathew2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Was a beautiful place to escape to! The heated floors in the bathroom was a nice touch. You can tell they care very much about your comfort and your experience there. One thing to note is that you’re not allowed music outside at any point. It would have been nice to listen while in the hot tub, but we understood why. Look forward to returning one day!

    Andrew2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The view from this place is incredible. The morning we left we saw sea lions, seals, and the most beautiful morning spread out across the water. It was perfect... wouldn’t change a thing. :) Thank you!

Our floathouse has everything a guest could want: privacy, beautiful waterfront location, and a dock for your kayaks. Its vintage ambience combines much of its original historical nature and water travels. Built over 60 years ago as a bunkhouse for hand logging shows (camps) it became part of our floating household. It has been many places on the coast in its life and still rests on its skid logs. However, I think our traveling household days are over.
Our "floathouse" has been a vacation rental for 15 years and contains most everything one would want. The kitchen has everything needed for meal preparation and baking and a variety of small appliances. The bedroom has a double bed and the living room has a sofa bed. The bathroom has a shower and there is an outdoor bathtub on the deck overlooking the lagoon. There is an eclectic library for everyone's taste with a large collection of marine and wildlife references and First Nations history. The TV is limited to a collection of over 200 DVDs and there are a variety of board games. It also has a land line phone. The Floathouse is on the same property as the Whaletown Lagoon Tiny Cabin which is often rented by guests for other family members and friends. Off season rates begin September 7
We are located on the Whaletown Lagoon, within walking distance of historical Whaletown, the only town on the island that is as it was 60 plus years ago. This includes a church, library, post office and government wharf. However, the store is no more. The Whaletown Commons park, walking trails, Schoolhouse Gallery, and the Gorge Harbour Marina are all within walking distance. The Whaletown ferry landing is less than10 minutes away by car. The Whaletown Lagoon is an unique marine environment to explore. There is a freshwater creek running through it into Whaletown Bay. Migratory salmon use the creek. The marine life is adapted to a muddy substrate, long periods of exposure and fresh water content. The lagoon is also a feeding ground for a variety of water fowl as well as eagles and heron.

  • What a wonderful place to ring in the new year! Both the float house and Cortes exceeded our expectations and we look so forward to our next trip! Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise with us, Lisa!

  • My mum and I had Christmas here and absolutely loved the cabin. The photos really don’t do it justice, the feel of the place and how beautiful and quiet it is is something that can only be felt once you get there. I loved watching the sun go down and the light bounce off the water at the jetty, and listening to the geese. We didn’t want to leave. Thank-you for such a lovely restful time here :)

  • The Floathouse is a lovely, private, quiet little spot in Whaletown. The calmness of the lagoon was therapeutic, a perfect place to go if you're trying to get away from the city (or from anywhere, really). The cabin is a great size, like a small house, and all the appliances and amenities work perfectly fine. Sitting to read in front of the wood stove after starting a fire was one of our favorite ways to spend our evenings. It's also located in a very convenient spot, very close to the ferry terminal and a quick drive away from Manson's Landing and Squirrel Cove. Lisa was a great host, thoughtful and present, and we enjoyed our week-long stay at her cabin a whole lot. Will be visiting again.

  • Whaletown Lagoon Floathouse is a real treat. It has a cosy atmosphere, yet spacious. It has all the amenities you want, great wood stove and huge choice of dvds. The location couldn't be better, in a hidden cove from which you see the ferry coming back to rest for the night. Lisa is very helpful and interesting to talk with. The uniques scones with home made jam was a tasty extra. Me and my friend wanted to stay the for ever.

    Rina2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, clean and peaceful place. Lots of natural light. The kitchen had everything you could need and the thoughtful touches like fresh cut flowers in many rooms takes the floathouse to a special level. Coffee on the dock was our favourite way to start the day.

A cozy studio cottage allowing panoramic views of the ocean. Lounge in your complimentary robes with a cappuccino from our coffee bar. Enjoy dinner or a hot tub as you watch the sunset, whales passing, or eagles overhead. Five acres of high bank waterfront provides beach access along a descending trail. The natural shoreline looks out onto the Strait of Georgia and the Coast Mountain Range. The larger fully equipped Topcliff cottage can be booked with our studio cottage for large groups.
The property features stunning views, seclusion and an abundance of wildlife. Two eagle nests border the property, sitings of Orcas and humpback whales are frequent in the summer months, seals, sea lions (spring time), mink, otter and other marine and shore wildlife are common. Cougars, wolves and black bears live in the area but are rarely seen. Many species of waterfowl and other birds occupy the shoreline and the many trees on property. The local golf course is a five minute drive away, and the biking and many hiking trails are easy to locate. There are several lakes accessible either by hiking or by vehicle for swimming during the summer months. A Farmer's Market is held every Saturday in the summer at Quathiaski Cove. During the winter guests can enjoy storm-watching along the shoreline, from the comfort of the cabin or while soaking in the hot tub.
Topcliff is a very quiet road located along the east side of Quadra Island. Quadra Island features an extensive hiking and biking trail system, Rebecca Spit is nearby for picnicking and swimming, and approximately four kilometres away in different directions are the two Island shopping centres. Those seeking peace and quiet will definitely find it here, Quadra also offers a range of active options. The island is well known for its hiking and biking trails and is an excellent jumping off point for a variety of kayaking and whale-watching tours. For those with an artistic bent, studio tour opportunities are abundant. For more information, check out www.quadraisland.ca.

  • Three years running we've booked here for our anniversary weekend and it proves exceptional each time. The cabin is just as advertised and the view is stunning, but the quiet privacy in an idyllic setting is what we keep coming back for. Close to home, but worlds away, this cabin is the perfect getaway to decompress and just spend time together. Thanks again to Greatchen and Doug for another great stay!

    Brian2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Luna Vista was by far the best air bnb we have stayed in to date. The cabin is great with everything you'd ever need! The view cannot be beat and was sparkling clean. Gretchen and Doug's hospitality was the icing on the cake!

  • We stayed at Luna Vista over the Christmas holidays and were delighted to have a warm and comfortable cabin with spectacular views. The space was perfect and had everything that we needed for our 3 day stay. Thank you!

  • Luna Vista offers a beautiful view of the ocean and Rebecca Split Provincial Park. We were fortunate to arrive on bright and sunny day! ...absolutely stunning!! Sitting in the outdoor tub in the evening was delightful. The cabin is nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. We brought all our provisions with us...however there is two grocery stores close by if you cannot or forget something. My husband had some work to complete...the wifi worked very well. Gretchen and Doug are wonderful hosts. Definitely plan to visit again....

    Sharon2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ok, just GO! You will be glad you did. The trip from Victoria took less time than we thought and was gorgeous. The ferry onto Quadras was a portal stepping into another world. The cabin is simple, beautiful, serene and like sitting on the middle of a beautiful painting. We had planned ait of driving around, but found it hard to leave the cabin. 3 days rested mire than weeks away previously.

  • Beautiful and cozy house with a fireplace, comfortable bed and a full kitchen. Ray has put a lot of thought into the place and had a book full of suggestions for hiking, etc. Very quiet and secluded - we saw deer walking right through the yard - but also very conveniently located, 5 min walk from a great cafe and general store, 10 min walk to the large grocery and 15 min walk to the ferry.

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Welcome to Elements Luxury Loft House. Our elegant property is centrally located in the Willow Point district in Campbell River. The loft rests directly across from the ocean with a direct view of the Quadra Island lighthouse. Inspired by the complete renovation of our dream home and in conjunction with Elements Esthetic Lounge. We built this vacation rental to host wedding parties, professionals, international guests, project workers, and visiting families.
The Loft House Suite: A two story house with master bedroom on main floor, an open concept living and kitchen area with a large sleeping loft and deck overlooking the ocean, mountains, and beautiful views of Quadra Island. We have a shared 24 hour gym that can be used at any time. Elements Esthetic Lounge is also located on the property, for any relaxation needs during your stay. Appointments can be booked before your stay via phone or email. Last minute appointments are welcome upon availability. This Loft House was built with heart and soul! We put many custom wood finishes in the suite to make it reflect our beautiful West Coast location and true Campbell River feel. Completed in November 2017, this space is a brand new build with high-end finishes! We designed the suite to comfortably accommodate up to groups of 8 people. In the Loft House you will have everything you need to feel at home away from home. The suite also features comforts for younger children; a highchair and pack & play crib are available upon request. Young children will have to be monitored at all times when on the second floor of the suite, as the suite does not offer baby gates or other safety measures.

  • Gretchen's place is amazing! The view made you want to jump out of the car and run to the edge of the grass. Grab your camera! The cottage is very well appointed with everything a traveler could need. The porch tub is unique. Loved the wall hanging quilts, large windows, and the wonderful porch. Gretchen came by and answered our questions. This is a grand place to stay. You will not be disappointed? Thanks!

  • Gretchen's place is the perfect base camp to explore Powell River. We stayed in for a salmon dinner on the grill and had all of the kitchen supplies we needed. Comfortable sleeping and living areas. The best part is the beach access and views!

    Susan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is spectacular! It rained for part of our time as is par for the course in BC, but the view of the bay and mountains behind was amazing rain or shine and the cabin has a great and easy to use soaker tub on the porch. The host came to greet us and was so nice with lovely positive energy and local tips. The layout inside is very thoughtfully designed and fun. We will return to the Luna Vista Cabins!

Watch the eagles fly and the otters play. Enjoy Quadra island with this walk-in cottage. 10 min. from the Campbell River ferry. In Gowlland Harbour. Great for kayaks and boats or watching the sun set. The cottage is surrounded by 4 acres of forest so is very private. There is a fully contained kitchen and bath. With a wrap around deck with BBQ. Moorage for small boat. We also have Wi-Fi in parking area. No parking at cottage, there's a lit path that goes down 100 feet. Rents Sat. to Sat.
  • In this cozy, retro cabin you cannot get a better view of Gowlland Harbour! We saw dolphins, seals, and otters everyday! It was magical!

    Stephanie2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the cottage is absolutely spectacular. We wanted to spend every minute possible on the deck, taking in the views of the water and wildlife. We saw otters every day, along with seals, dolphins, bald eagles and herons. The sunsets were amazing. The cottage is not glamorous, but has everything you need. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen and did not find anything missing. Cell phone service was pretty decent at the cottage, so we ended up using the hotspot on a cell phone for internet service. Not too challenging ... and we didn't come to this amazing location to be plugged in to the internet all the time! Lynda was a great host, and responded quickly to the few questions that we had. Hope you enjoy Quadra Island as much as we did. Definitely plan to be back.

    Diane2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Harbourview Cabin is a relaxing space in a beyond words, SPECTACULAR location. Without a doubt it's the best view I've had at an air bnb and all we wanted to do for the whole week was soak it in! During our stay we enjoyed sitting on the dock every morning and sipping our coffee while we watched the sea life including seals, a whale and a few dolphins (you'll need the binoculars they provide though!) One morning we were even treated to an otter family of five fishing and playing for an hr right in front of the cabin! Many afternoons deer came right up to the cabin to graze. Most of the day was spent sunning ourselves on the GLORIOUS deck and just soaking up all the nature. The harbour was very quiet boat traffic wise but never empty. The only time we spent in the cabin was to sleep mostly as the interior doesn't come close to being on the deck or dock. At night we'd light candles or just star gaze as the temperature was heavenly. The cabin itself, while well kept and clean, feels like stepping into a grandfather's old fishing cabin. It's rustic, basic and outdated as well as completely carpeted, including the kitchen. The kitchen is the most charming space and painted a lovely yellow. It's stocked with an incredible selection of small appliances from a waffle maker and crock pot to a coffee maker and blender. The beds are comfy but the bedding is old. BUT given the price and the amazing location it's a GREAT value!! A few things to note. It's difficult to access. I cannot stress this enough. It's a serious climb to get from the parking lot to the cabin. While there are stairs available (3-4 flights I believe) behind the hosts home, the path leading down to the cabin from the cabin parking spot is very rough. It's a winding, narrow and steep path with some rustic stairs carved into the hill about half way down. There is no banister and it is very poorly lit at night despite the lights that have been put up. Basically don't do it at night without a flashlight! My hubby and I left every night for dinner but I can't imagine leaving more than once a day. That being said, you'll be in better shape when you leave and the incredible location makes the haul worth it!! Another thing is that the neighbors are closer than expected, maybe 50 feet and closer than the hosts home. While you don't see thier home from the cabin and dock you can hear them very clearly although they don't make a lot of noise. There were a few afternoons where we'd end up inadvertently listening to entire conversations because sound travels so well down there. Lastly the septic tank drains into the ocean right beside the dock and below the deck so don't swim right there! Generally you don't notice it at all, and the plumbing in the cabin works amazingly well for its age, but occasionally you'll get a smelly whiff that the ocean breeze usually quickly whisks away. Not sure if the smell is always the septic tank or just the ocean releasing gases but it's worth noting so that you're not all like WTF. The cabin itself never smells and is impressively fresh given its age! Don't miss this opportunityto reconnect with the ocean!!!

    Caterina2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin allows guests a rare escape in a truly magical place. While Quadra Island exceeds expectations, Lynda's rustic home on the water gives visitors a quiet place to think, write, and relax while enjoying the natural beauties of the bay. Many animals came to visit during my stay, including a a bevy of otters, a gaggle of geese, and a great blue heron. I highly recommend the serenity of Lynda's cabin and Quadra Island to anyone who needs to escape their hectic lives for a week.

    Rhonda2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing if you want an "away from it all" vacation. The cottage could not be more beautifully situated. Just be prepared for the steep downhill track leading down to 50 steps cut into the hillside to access the place.

    Paul2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wildlife and amazing sunsets will take your breath away. Avoid heavy luggage as the steps are steep down the hill but It is worth going down the path to the serenity of this wonderful rustic cabin by the water edge.

    Myorei2018-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Very simple, rustic accommodation with charm. Location is magical, lots of proximity to nature. Terrace ideal as observation station: Otter, deer, raccoons, seals, herons and dolphins can be seen. Very quiet location, access to the house with luggage requires sportiness. Would go again.

    Anette2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is very rustic but has everything you need. The walk down to the cabin is very steep and it was a lot of work to bring our stuff down and back up. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a weak heart! But once your there... its fantastic. Its west facing so its warm and sunny and that part of Gowlland Harbour is quite protected so the water is calm - great for kayaking!

This 900 sq. ft. suite offers lots of room to relax and unwind with a sunny bedroom with a king-sized Casper bed, full bath, living room with a large comfortable leather couch and cozy gas fireplace.
The suite is clean, modern and is outfitted with the amenities I appreciate when travelling. 1. Clean. Not really an amenity, but important! :) 2. Comfortable king-sized bed 3. Pristinely clean bathroom 4 Good coffee (Nespresso, French press, a variety of milks for cappuccino the way you like it: soy, almond, dairy) 5 Healthy and healthy-ish breakfast items. Oats, toast, bagels, pancake mix 6 Not so healthy snacks. Yum 7 Well-equipped kitchen(ette) to make a simple meal. I like cooking when travelling but don't like buying every single ingredient needed. With that in mind, the kitchenette has been stocked with the tools and pantry basics needed to make a meal without buying a cart full of groceries. There is a full-fridge, countertop induction hotplate and convection oven, electric frying pan, rice cooker and outdoor BBQ. The pantry basics include: olive oil, balsamic/red wine/white wine vinegar, dijon mustard, soy sauce, sriracha, ketchup, mustard, mayo, a variety of prepared salad dressings, salt, pepper, rice, etc. I love to cook, so if you need a spice, I probably have it. Just ask. Some of our guests have enjoyed picking herbs from the garden as well.
I love our neighbourhood and Campbell River. There are great forest walking/running/biking trails 5 minutes from the house in the Beaver Lodge Lands as well as numerous hikes in the surrounding area. The Canyon view, Millennium, and Deer Fall Trails around the Campbell River are a local favourite and a great option for a challenging run with some good hills. McIvor Lake, 15 min drive, is a great place for a refreshing swim. One of our favourite summertime activities is to hop on the ferry to Quadra Island and go kayaking from Drew Harbour out to the Breton Islands for a few hours. There is a cooler and picnic gear in the suite so go out and enjoy! If you need a folding chair or beach blanket, just ask.
  • Aside from Jacquie’s superb hospitality, her place is cozy & spotless, with amazing views.

  • 5 star all round . Would defiantly recommend visiting Campbell river one of my favourite stops on the island. The apartment was great , comfortable bed and pillows. Nice touches such as a nespreso and milk foamer that I haven’t seen in other places we stayed. The host was great and very responsive , provided great local tips and info. Will be back hopefully !

  • Jacquie was a very friendly and very warm hearted bishop! At each of the small details you felt this ..... Flowers from the garden as a welcome, home-baked very delicious cookies, coffee, everything for breakfast in the fridge, equipped kitchen and everything so lovingly prepared. The view was on the water - really incredibly beautiful, quiet and centrally located, the apartment was large, very comfortable and large bed, very modern and very tastefully decorated. We felt very well. We recommend to stay in Jaquies flat !!

  • Great location for bear and whale watch tours we did in the area. Suite is really clean and modern with lovely views over the water and quadra island. Hot tub was a bonus! Kitchen really well stocked with basic ingredients and also a lovely coffee machine which was appreciated in the mornings! Jacquie was very helpful giving us lots of local tips. We really recommend staying here as a base for exploring the local area.

  • I can't speak highly enough of Jacquie's place - her hospitality is bringing AirBnB back to what it used to be (plus more) with amazing little added details (baking, picnic set, coffee, tea, milk, cereal and other essentials) as well as local tips. The space is immaculately clean with the most amazing view out to Quadra Island the hot tub is an added bonus. Campbell River has so much to explore, a great weekend (or week) getaway. Highly recommend and can't wait to return one day!

  • You get used to smaller space quite fast (4 adults)., but I’m sure Summer time would be even more enjoyable with the outdoors extending it. The wildlife and the cove are phenomenal! We all slept well, enjoyed the hot tub very much. Read the arrival instructions carefully and try getting there by day to avoid confusion. Beware of gravel logging road and come prepared for a quiet & relaxing environment.

  • Great little place to sneak away to for a few days!

    Mark2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is as advertised. Comfy for 4- but would be harder with 6 - especially if the weather did not allow use of the great deck.. The cabin is modern, makes good use of the small space, clean and a bit funky- but a great place to stay.

    Rob2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • If we could give the location 6 stars, we would. It was perfect for the week that we stayed here (family of 4). The home was very well appointed, with thoughtful touches everywhere. It was cozy, well designed, had amazing views out every window, and animal friends that would come and visit. We'd come back in a heartbeat.

    Warren2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, beautiful scenery, clean and comfortable

    Zak2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really great ‘tiny home’ cabin. It makes great use of space and all of the amenities are just as pictured. We really enjoyed our time in the cabin, and especially on the deck enjoying the incredible view. We spent our evenings BBQ-ing on the deck and having a dip in the hot tub before looking at the incredibly bright sky! During the day, we saw deer walking around the cove, a seal splashing around and a heron diving for fish. A really special spot.

    Jonathan2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly clean. Amazing attention to detail (eg luxurious towels) and design...small but really fantastic use of space..we were 4 people and did not feel at all crowded. Herons and deer were "regulars", seals swimming in the cove. Lovely location. Definitely recommend!

A comfortable studio cottage with verandah overlooking our 5 acre hobby farm. The cottage has custom woodwork including stained glass windows and wide plank floors. There is a well equipped kitchenette and private bath with a restored claw foot tub (no stand up shower). The private verandah overlooks the acreage and is a great place to relax after a busy day. High speed internet is included and the cottage is within walking distance of the shops in Quathiaski Cove as well several hiking trails. Our hobby farm animals are all friendly and include dwarf goats, and a small flock of hens (no roosters!) Our Mexican bred border collie cross "guards" the chickens from predators such as Bald Eagles. We also have a Lop Eared bunny. Besides the menagerie of animals our place is unique for the custom woodwork including hand-made stained glass windows, wide plank country floors and hooks and hangers fashioned from Arbutus. The bathroom features a restored claw foot tub. The kitchenette is compact, but we have been careful to fully equip it with all the utensils; even a cappuccino maker!
We are a very rural neighbourhood of hobby farms but very close to the shops and restaurants of Quathiaski Cove.
  • Lovely cottage in rural setting on a very chilled Island. Great place to stay and see the Discovery Islands

  • A wonderful gem situated in a stunning area. David was a great host and the room was clean and well set up. Highly recommended.

  • Very quite cozy cabin. Not a lot of room for food so don’t stock up all at once. But you’ll enjoy your stay just as I did. .

  • What a phenomenal spot! The studio is absolutely adorable, and perfect for my get away from the real world. Very very close to the ferry, and super accessible for everything you could need. A beautiful bouquet greeted me upon arrival, and David and his family were wonderful. I will absolutely be making this specific getaway a regular for me!

  • This is a good place to stay. We really enjoyed the location (close to cultural centre, lighthouse and Rebecca spit). For a small kitchen, there is everything you need to prepare meals for two. David is a warm and welcoming host and I would recommend his place to anyone looking for a peaceful, clean and comfortable place to stay. And the flowers they grow are gorgeous!

    Sheryl2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • David's place is the perfect location to stay on Quadra Island. The cabine is very clean, comfy and cute! David gave us great tips to do trails and was really thoughtful. The flowers were beautiful! We recommend this place. Thank you !!

  • What a little gem of a place- "Above all" is descriptive but it is close enough to the ferry, shops and cafes to be very convenient, far enough away to feel in a little oasis of calm with the chickens, goats and lovely dog. David is a great host.

    Jan2019-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend staying in Above all Cottage. A small, clean room with all the comforts. Looking out on the forrest and a life cattle stock (chicken, goats and sheep's). A really wonderful place to stay.
