  • A wonderful little cabin overlooking the lake, and Toni and Joe were very welcoming and accommodating hosts, helping me with things I hadn't expected help with, which made my trip all the more easier and relaxing. They were great! The place is great, especially for one or two people. Really close to town, I walked frequently to the little stores and cafes.

  • Fantastic place, clean, inviting and so close to the lake, the food coop and the cafe.

  • This place is amazing! Our hosts were so welcoming and very kind. The space is grand too; clean, private, comfy and sweet. The location is also terrific, a short stroll from the lake or from local stores. It's the perfect spot to stay on any Cortes trip! Very highly recommended.

  • The island, the cabin, and the hosts are absolutely wonderful. There is nothing missing and we couldn't think of a better and more relaxed holiday. We experienced so much friendliness, help, and support. I can highly recommend everyone to go there and enjoy. Be careful - you will probably never want to leave again.

  • I am a lifelong Cortes lover and was super pleased with Toni and Joe’s hospitality. The cottage was clean, well appointed and pleasantly breezy on hot days. We especially loved our mornings having breakfast and enjoying the view from the little patio. It's so clever how the huge tree to the right of the patio creates a natural privacy screen!! Our hosts were warm and friendly, and we felt welcome from the very start. They went above and beyond expectations to make sure we had as good a time as possible. This was such a memorable getaway! Try the Cosy Cottage; you will be SO glad you did! We will absolutely be back!

We offer a two bedroom fully furnished home located on Cortes Island. This beach house is a wonderful place to unwind, breathe the ocean air and experience the quiet surroundings. Enjoy the views from the patio or have a beach fire. Inside get cozy by the fireplace with one of the many books provided for your stay.
Cortes Beach House is a fully equipped, two bedroom home located in Mansons Lagoon. The beachfront house has fresh linens, clean relaxing furniture with many of the amenities required for a comfortable stay. Doors open to a inviting deck overlooking the lagoon. The tidal flow is exquisite to watch. Once a day the bay empties exposing the ocean floor. This is a great time to take a long walk, explore the tide pools and collect dinner. If you enjoy swimming we strongly recommend "riding the tide" from the Spit located at the opening of the lagoon. In the winter months the low tides are at night and the star gazing is quite magical from the beach.
Cortes is a perfect getaway island for visitors. It is also a seafood lovers dream. With clams and oysters covering the beach in front of the beach house. We offer a clam and oyster harvesting lesson to all our guests. This is especially fun in the winter months when the tide is low during the night. Buckets, rakes, and headlamps are provided. Just bring your gumboots and we will show you how it's done. We love how the island lights up in the summer months with people getting away from the hustle of their normal lives. Although Cortes does double in population in the summer time it still has that "laid back island feel" to it. Making it a great place to vacation off main tourist locations.
  • Such a sweet spot! I booked myself a songwriting retreat and this was the perfect peaceful and cozy place to create. Cortes Island is beautiful and being right on the ocean was lovely. Melissa was wonderful, the cottage was super clean with nice linens and an AMAZING library of books. Thank you Melissa!!

  • This tranquil cottage on the edge of the bay is truly stunning. From keeping warm by the wood stove or out on the deck enjoying the ocean air makes every part of the stay enjoyable. Melissa is a fantastic host, the cottage was clean and had everything we needed and more. The thoughtful touch of fresh eggs from the chickens on the property was lovely. We will be back!

  • This was our second time staying with Melissa and I would highly recommend it to my friends or family! Melissa was wonderful and great at answering all of my questions ahead of time. The space is beautiful and was very comfortable for our group of 4 and perfect for our dog. This is a very special place where you can go clamming and harvest oysters!

    Sarah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa's place was a great get away on cortes. I was on the island for business but hope to return to this spot for a vacation.

  • It’s a great beach house in an awesome location! The morning views were very peaceful and worthy of lots of pictures! We had everything we needed and the place was very clean.

  • Brilliant quiet, gorgeous setting in a secluded property. The Lagoon is at your door step, ever changing and beautiful. The firewood stove kept us toasty and warm. We found on our second day beautifully chopped up extra pile of kindling for our use - thoughtful touch. The cabin is spacious, kitchen very well appointed, bedding very comfortable and blankets helped keep us even more cozy. We will come back for sure! Thank you for providing a very peaceful setting to match the outdoor setting.

If you're looking for waterfront privacy and immersion in nature, this Cortes Island cabin set in 10 acres of forest with stunning sunset views may be what you're looking for. Equipped w/ Wifi, full kitchen, phone. Rustic feel not for everyone.
Reachable by 2 ferries from Campbell River (first to Quadra, then to Cortes), Cortes Island is a small island with a progressive counter-culture vibe. The cabin is fully equipped with full kitchen, bath with tub and sawdust toilet, WiFi, ipod dock (iPhone 4 or earlier connector), tv/dvd, phone for local calls. It has a rustic feel in harmony with nature. Downstairs is an open living room, dining room and kitchen with wood stove and sunset views west out over Gorge Harbour. Upstairs is a large bedroom with 2 queen beds and 1 double bed. Surrounding the cabin are large wooden decks built into the mossy bluffs. There is a small rocky beach just below the cabin for swimming. If you'd like to explore the harbour by boat, kayaks are available for rent at the Gorge Harbour Marina (about a 5 min drive away). Note: the Wifi is new as of Aug 2014. Getting internet access to this remote spot is a expensive undertaking and there is limited monthly download capacity so we ask you avoid large downloads and it is not appropriate for very heavy users. Peak summer rentals are Saturday to Saturday only and for a minimum of a week. Other periods the dates are flexible but with a 4 day minimum. This cabin isn't for everyone so please check with us before booking and we'll make sure the place is right for you. I do not recommend the cabin for families with young children as there aren't really railings on the decks with steep drop-offs. Please also check the location of Cortes Island before booking, to get there from Vancouver requires 3 ferries and about 8 hours so it is not really suitable for a weekend trip from the city unless you are already on Vancouver Island. And the furniture and the appliances are old and funky as this is a family cabin that has changed little since the 70s; everything works of course but if you're looking for gleaming and new, this isn't the place for you. Some details / frequently asked questions: What is a sawdust toilet? There is an indoor toilet but it goes into a bucket (accessed from outside the cabin) which you must empty into an outhouse pit every few days. We do not live on the island so support is limited. A neighbor can help with emergencies. We do have a cleaner that comes in between visitors but there is no laundry at the cabin and no time for her to do laundry. As such we request visitors either bring their own linens (sheets, towels) or launder any used at the laundromat before they leave. You are also responsible for making sure all your dishes are done, the kitchen is tidy and the toilet pail is emptied before you go. You must also take all garbage with you or to the dump before you leave. The driveway up to the cabin is gravel and steep in parts. You don't need a 4WD but if there is snow on the ground you may be better off parking at the bottom of the driveway and walking the 300 m or so up to the cabin. The cabin is spacious but there are just two big open rooms plus the bathroom. The upstairs is separated by an open stairway so keep in mind that you can't close a door and get full noise separation.
Cortes Island is a small island with about 800 year round residents. Summer time population is significantly greater. During the off-season the groceries stay open but not much else. The island is fairly sprawling though, most things are between 5 and 10km from the cabin so a car is pretty much required. During the summer there are also a selection of restaurants. Too see some recommended island places scroll down to the map and click the [-] button to see some of the places we recommend on the island.
  • Really fantastic place. I hope to come back soon.

    Katy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about this space! The location is breathtaking, and the cabin is so quaint and cozy that even a day spent watching the pouring rain by the woodstove is a treat. We enjoyed using the kitchen and the view from the deck and table so much that we never ate out at all. We were happy to discover that we were able to launch our kayaks right from shore (with a little creativity). This is a perfect spot from which to enjoy the entire island.

    Belinda2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, rustic place with amazing ocean view and breathtaking sunsets. Great to fish, swim, Kajak and hiking! We can very much recommend this place!

    Christian2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were in search of a quaint, easy-going getaway and we are so happy we found Doug and Doris's place. The photos don't quite do the place justice it was just so welcoming and relaxing - we spent most of our time outside on the deck just taking in the surroundings. The cabin had everything we needed and the sunsets every night were incredible. The sawdust toilet isn't as bad as you might think - so if that's deferring you, don't let it! Super easy to find and driving around the island was very quick. The local health food grocer had everything we could have imagined (being vegans, we were happy to see lots of plant based options)! If we ever make our way back to Cortes, we would love to stay here again!

    Berçin2019-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Charming, rustic and slightly eclectic place on a quiet bay with great sunsets. Lot's of little curios throughout the cabin. If you are looking to get away from everything and relax I would certainly recommend this place!

    Michael2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This is a beautiful cabin in the most fantastic location. We loved it so much we extended our stay by a night. Cannot wait to return.

    Lottie2019-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nested in the quiet seaside area of Gorge Harbour. Wake up to birds chirping and watch the sunset from the deck or in the cabin with large windows while you watch orcas swimming around the harbor. Location is easy to find and fairly close to the main town area as well. A word of advice for future goers to bring their own TP but otherwise we've been very happy at the amenities provided here. Would love to stay again!

Our floathouse has everything a guest could want: privacy, beautiful waterfront location, and a dock for your kayaks. Its vintage ambience combines much of its original historical nature and water travels. Built over 60 years ago as a bunkhouse for hand logging shows (camps) it became part of our floating household. It has been many places on the coast in its life and still rests on its skid logs. However, I think our traveling household days are over.
Our "floathouse" has been a vacation rental for 15 years and contains most everything one would want. The kitchen has everything needed for meal preparation and baking and a variety of small appliances. The bedroom has a double bed and the living room has a sofa bed. The bathroom has a shower and there is an outdoor bathtub on the deck overlooking the lagoon. There is an eclectic library for everyone's taste with a large collection of marine and wildlife references and First Nations history. The TV is limited to a collection of over 200 DVDs and there are a variety of board games. It also has a land line phone. The Floathouse is on the same property as the Whaletown Lagoon Tiny Cabin which is often rented by guests for other family members and friends. Off season rates begin September 7
We are located on the Whaletown Lagoon, within walking distance of historical Whaletown, the only town on the island that is as it was 60 plus years ago. This includes a church, library, post office and government wharf. However, the store is no more. The Whaletown Commons park, walking trails, Schoolhouse Gallery, and the Gorge Harbour Marina are all within walking distance. The Whaletown ferry landing is less than10 minutes away by car. The Whaletown Lagoon is an unique marine environment to explore. There is a freshwater creek running through it into Whaletown Bay. Migratory salmon use the creek. The marine life is adapted to a muddy substrate, long periods of exposure and fresh water content. The lagoon is also a feeding ground for a variety of water fowl as well as eagles and heron.
  • Beautiful location and lovely little cabin!

    Kristin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to ring in the new year! Both the float house and Cortes exceeded our expectations and we look so forward to our next trip! Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise with us, Lisa!

  • My mum and I had Christmas here and absolutely loved the cabin. The photos really don’t do it justice, the feel of the place and how beautiful and quiet it is is something that can only be felt once you get there. I loved watching the sun go down and the light bounce off the water at the jetty, and listening to the geese. We didn’t want to leave. Thank-you for such a lovely restful time here :)

  • The Floathouse is a lovely, private, quiet little spot in Whaletown. The calmness of the lagoon was therapeutic, a perfect place to go if you're trying to get away from the city (or from anywhere, really). The cabin is a great size, like a small house, and all the appliances and amenities work perfectly fine. Sitting to read in front of the wood stove after starting a fire was one of our favorite ways to spend our evenings. It's also located in a very convenient spot, very close to the ferry terminal and a quick drive away from Manson's Landing and Squirrel Cove. Lisa was a great host, thoughtful and present, and we enjoyed our week-long stay at her cabin a whole lot. Will be visiting again.

    José E.2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Whaletown Lagoon Floathouse is a real treat. It has a cosy atmosphere, yet spacious. It has all the amenities you want, great wood stove and huge choice of dvds. The location couldn't be better, in a hidden cove from which you see the ferry coming back to rest for the night. Lisa is very helpful and interesting to talk with. The uniques scones with home made jam was a tasty extra. Me and my friend wanted to stay the for ever.

    Rina2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, clean and peaceful place. Lots of natural light. The kitchen had everything you could need and the thoughtful touches like fresh cut flowers in many rooms takes the floathouse to a special level. Coffee on the dock was our favourite way to start the day.

    Joanne2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, comfortable and well-equipped place to stay on Cortes. We appreciated the quiet and the tides moving in and out of the lagoon and would happily stay here again.

  • a wonderful place!

  • Life changing, simple as that. I manage several unique Airbnb properties around Los Angeles and this is absolutely incredible. Detach from the stress and angst of your life and experience the pure energy present on this land. No real way to explain it but the pure quiet and harmony on Cortes island is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. There are a number of hikes, swims, walks, and people to meet on the island. Home cooked meals at the yurt are hard to beat, everything is provided, all kitchenware and appliances, utilities, all directions and instructions are thorough and well thought out. You will learn to appreciate small things in life during your time here. It changed me, it will change you.

  • Our stay at Padma was one of the best AirBnB experiences we’ve had. The space is thoughtfully put together to make your stay comfortable, from the outdoor candles to light your evenings on the deck to the indoor wood stove to keep you warm as needed. The location is perfect with absolute privacy and silence except for the birds. We loved everything about our experience and plan to come again!

  • Best Air B and B I have booked in my travels so far. The island is amazing and full of hidden gems. Our stay at PADMA was AMAZING. The yurt was built with so much love and everything around us was beautiful. We did not want to leave. The hospitality from Inga and Natasha was also amazing..Giving us tips and spots to check out on the island, a warm welcome, and making us feel at home. We love the place so much we will be back next year for sure. Thank you for sharing your hidden paradise. What a great way to spend time away.

We live on the property and have a second home on the property that we make available to guests. Perched above a beautiful rocky beach with sweeping views, the home is comfortable and fully equipped with everything you need for a family getaway, including access to the fire pit, trampoline, canoes and kayaks. Our immediate area has great hiking and wonderful access to nature with bald eagles flying overhead and whales passing by. We also have a cabin and tent if you have a larger family.
The house is quaint. Each bedroom has a view of the ocean. The house has everything you might need to have a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It's a comfortable space that includes a full kitchen with everything you might need to cook meals or have a BBQ. While the space is fully equipped and comfortable, it's not fancy or glamorous. In addition to the three bedrooms, each with a double or queen bed, there is also a fold out couch in the house. The fold-out couch is right in the middle of the living room, so is a good way to accomodate additional quests, but can constrict the space. If you want to have a larger group, we do have a sleeping cabin and a glamping tent that can be rented for an additional fee. The sleeping cabin has a queen size bed and the tent has a double bed and two single beds. These two sleeping options are served by an outhouse and outdoor shower/bathing facility and have access to a separate kitchen. Lastly, we have an RV that can accommodate 2-6 additional people. The RV has a shower, kitchen, sitting area and bed.
The property is conveniently located in the center of Cortes Island. We are at the end of the road, so there’s no traffic to worry about. We are quite close to the government dock in Cortes bay for those that wish to park their boats. There is great hiking, kayaking and biking right from the house. If you are considering a kayak trip of Desolation Sound, we are a great jumping off place. We are just a few hour kayak from the amazing kayak access camping sites in Desolation Sound. From our beach, you can can be at Desolation Sound Marine Park Locations within a few hours. For kayak guests, we are happy to support your trip by allowing you to leave your car on the property while you go adventuring. (http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parkpgs/desolation/)

  • Manda met us when we arrived and made herself available for any needs we may have had during our stay. We had everything we needed at the space and more. The location is breathtaking. We spent most of the day out and about on the island, including canoeing around Cortes bay (provided with the rental). Fresh oysters from the beach outside the cabin, too! The space was tidy and cozy. Lots of cute, friendly creatures on the land as well. All-in-all a great experience and highly recommended. Five stars for Manda and Family.

  • Manda and Sadhu were amazing hosts. We immediately felt included and welcome. We ate oysters over the fire, dug clams from the lagoon, canoed in the bay, hiked the red granite bluff, dusted our toes in the white sand of Hague lake and warmed them by the wood stove. If you want to experience what island life is like from the chickens laying their eggs to tasting freshly smoked salmon, from early ocean sunrises to innumerable evening stars then Manda and Sadhu’s cabin is the right choice. Can’t wait to return.

  • Walking distance to the co-op in a serene area with deer and owls. Used it as a mini writing retreat and cooked all the time, two things we were really looking forward to. The space was super clean and fun to be in. The place is split so you sleep upstairs where the bathroom is and then walk outside and downstairs for the kitchen and living area. Romina was really welcoming and we appreciated it was dog friendly!

  • Romina was very friendly. The guesthouse is truly beautiful. Very spacious and love to detail!

  • Excellent location right in the heart of Mansons Landing on Cortes. Perfect quiet getaway

    Edward2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Romina's sweet cottage. It was the perfect retreat for my two daughters and I. I had never visited the island before and came up to pick up my girls who had been in camp there. The three of us stayed on at Romina's and hunkered down feeling very much at home. Romina was the best hostess for what we needed. I highly recommend this cozy, serene and blissfully quiet place in the woods...excellent location for walking to town and a short drive or bike ride to some amazing waterfront. Thank you Romina!

Our little cabin was originally built as a generator shed over 60 years ago. It has toured the local waters as a part of our floating household (the floathouse on the beach and the storage shed in the yard). The generator shed was built on skid logs to enable easy moving between land and float. It is still resting on its skids, but is not going anywhere soon. This tiny cabin has everything needed for a quiet island get away on the Whaletown Lagoon . A perfect spot for kayakers.
Two twin beds, one which folds up above the other when not in use, hot/cold water cooler/ microwave/ electric kettle, coffee maker and coffee, tea pot and tea, cooking utensils, dishes, and cutlery for 2, BBQ, cooking/wash station, and seating area on the deck. An outhouse is tucked privately behind the cottage. Relax in the shade under an apple tree or in the sun on a shared family dock in the lagoon! Public showers and laundry facilities are located a 20 minute walk or short drive away at the Gorge Harbour Marina. Children are welcome and the property is pet friendly. Guests are invited to enjoy the upper yard and gardens. You can also pick wild berries right off the cabin deck. Our shared dock in the lagoon is ideal for kayaking and water activities. This tiny cabin is on the same property as a larger rental cabin, The Whaletown Lagoon Floathouse (also listed), and the family home.
We are located on Whaletown Lagoon, within walking distance of historical Whaletown, the only "town" on the island that is as it was 60 plus years ago. This includes a church, library, post office and government wharf, however, the store is no more. The Whaletown Commons park, walking trails, Schoolhouse Gallery, and Gorge Harbour Marina are all within walking distance. The Whaletown Lagoon is a unique marine environment to explore. There is a fresh water creek running through it into Whaletown Bay. Migratory salmon use the creek. The marine life is adapted to a muddy substrate, long periods of exposure and higher fresh water content. The lagoon is also a feeding ground for a variety of birds including heron and eagles.
  • Cute, comfortable, and convenient. Pretty much true to description

Walk to lake, beach, and more. 1 bedroom plus sleeping loft bathroom with bath and shower, kitchen/sitting room, living room, sun room and deck. Good wi-fi, laundry facilities. No TV or landline.
  • Our stay at Kathleen’s was absolutely wonderful. Location perfect, walking distance to Manson’s Landing Village. Path through the woods behind us, led to Hague Lake, with white sandy beach. Short drive to Smelt Bay to watch the sunsets. Felt like we were in a tree house, serene and beautiful setting. Kitchen even included a blender for our smoothies! Always a prompt reply from Kathleen if we had any questions.

  • Very responsive host. Great location.

    Joel2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to get away for quiet and natural beauty, this is the spot. I spent several months at this location and my only disappointment was having to leave. The host was prompt to respond and communicated well regarding the details of the stay. The community is charming and quiet; the neighbors in particular are a delightful perk of the location. Nothing I can say here will do this location justice. It's perfect. Simply perfect.

    Esther2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect cabin for a little getaway. Wood stove and a cozy atmosphere with all the stuff you need to disconnect and relax. I would definitely stay again and try out Cortes in the summer time! Kathleen was a great host!

  • Kathleen is an amazing attentive host ensuring you have everything you might need to enjoy the splendour of Cortes Island. The cabin is quaint with lots of room to stretch out and relax.

    Robby2017-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen's place was perfect! My boyfriend and I stayed at the cabin for the month of September and has an excellent time. If you're looking for a quiet spot nestled in the trees, this is it. It has kind of a mixed vibe of feeling both like a treehouse, and like a boat - the house is made completely out of wood, it has beautiful big windows with views of the forest, it has a cozy loft, and a small bathroom. The place itself is a great size for 2-3 people, with 2 comfortable beds (1 queen, one double as advertised). It is equipped for cooking and has everything you would need (minus the luxury of a dishwasher :P) The location is ideal.. the place is a 3 minute walk to the co-op (groceries, essential) and the local cafe, a 5 minute walk to the beautiful, white sand Hague Lake, and a 12 minute walk to the ocean at Manson's Landing. We were very happy here and would love to stay again. Thank you Kathleen and Greg!

Kw'as Bay Cottage (aka Dragonfly Cottage) is close to everything! 2 min stroll to wetlands conservation area, beautiful walks through Kw'as Park old growth, semi-private Hague Lake beach swims. 10 mins to ocean trail. 25 min walk to café/store. Private and quiet. Bright loft with comfy queen bed. New (2017) sweet sleep Ikea sofa bed in the living room, full kitchen, bathroom with soaker tub, dining area, deck, BBQ, and cozy living room. Note: Absolutely no smoking on the property.
A very peaceful, relaxing and smoke-free space.
What makes our neighbourhood unique is its close proximity to: the conservation wetlands (a part of our property is an extension of the wetlands), Kw'as Park Trail system (short walks close to your rental or long, beautiful walks through old growth forests), your own semi-private sand beach on Hague Lake (a short stroll from your rental), a ten-minute walk to the trails of Hank's Beach (lovely forest walk to a quiet ocean spot for swimming or sun bathing), a relaxing twenty-minute walk to the 'town' of Mansons Landing (the Co-Op Natural Foods store & Café, post office, Marnie's Bookstore, the market at Manson's Hall), five-minute drive to Smelt Bay's ocean beaches. All this and we are quietly located on a no-through road.

This beautiful ocean view suite is ideally located near Smelt Bay on the south end of Cortes at the top of a dead end road and has dedicated ample parking and a private entrance. The view of Vancouver Island mountains and the water is enjoyed from the bedroom and living area. Walk to the cafe for a morning croissant, to Hague lake for a swim, to visit Hollyhock's garden or to nearby Smelt Bay to watch the sunset.
There is a dedicated parking area for vehicles of varying sizes and boat trailers too. The rental is half of a lovely home and is self contained with a private gate and entrance. A mud room offers safe and dry storage for bikes or coolers and has a chest freezer for your use. The queen bed is a top quality mattress with new cotton sheets in a spacious room. This is a newly remodelled suite with a full kitchen, lovely west view and the sweet nest of a robin and her babies under the covered deck.
Located on the south end of Cortes Island near the 'downtown' Mansons Landing area. This space is at the top a dead end road and yet just a 20 minute walk (5 min drive) from Smelt Bay, Hollyhock, the Lake, and Mansons where you can shop for groceries, get coffee, have some lunch, and enjoy local produce and more at the Friday market (on Fridays).
  • Great place. Would stay here again. Thanks, Andrea.

  • We were visiting from Hawaii & found Robin's Nest to be delightful. It's the real deal and so well worth the travel time. This is a beautiful, ultra quiet setting---very private, very cozy with several very nice antique furnishings. Very comfortable bed & chairs/sofa areas to relax. It's like staying at your best friend's home. Our thanks to Andrea for the amazing ground coffee she provided in the fully equipped kitchen. We would suggest that Andrea post a Robin's Nest sign by the driveway--but then, it might be hard to schedule your next visit! Good job, Andrea!

  • We loved our week at Andrea’s place. Waking up surrounded by trees and with a little view of the ocean was heavenly. It was great to feel like we were in our own little world, while also being in close proximity to great hikes, beaches, the grocery store, and, of course, Hollyhock Retreat Centre. Andrea did everything to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a down-to-earth and cosy place to stay.

  • Wow, what a place to stay, everything you need for a really comfortable stay on Cortes, minutes from the local stores, great bread at the CoOp by the way, and between the two Provincial Parks on the Island. Denise lives on the property, the cabin is next to her house, and is there to answer any questions and have a natter with. The cabin was a surprise as it had an upper level which was the second large bedroom, downstairs is the main living area with an open plan kitchen/lounge area, kitted out with everything needed for cooking and quality furniture. We were very fortunate with the weather and spent time out on the large deck that looks over to Hague Lake and went kayaking both days of our stay at nearby Mansons Landing. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway this is the place to stay.

    Mark2018-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Denise's space was beautiful and serene in an incredibly convenient location - steps from Hague lake, the co-op market & cafe, Mansons Hall, etc. She provided warm, welcoming hospitality to myself, my partner and our pooch (despite his intimidating size!). Denise clearly takes great pride in her gorgeous home and it made for a comfortable and relaxing vacation, with everything fully stocked and spotless. Lastly I will say if you are coming for the Wi-Fi... you are coming to Cortes Island for the wrong reasons!

    Kim2018-09-01T00:00:00Z

Walk out your door, pick fresh oysters & clams and cook them in our beach firepit while enjoying the sunset. Launch your boat or use one of our kayaks. Don't forget your water shoes and hiking boots so you can enjoy the mulitude of walking trails and cliffside walk. Preferably suitable for adults.
No pets preferred in consideration of guests who may have allergies. In the winter when the windows are closed, the warmth of the sun brings the flies out of the woodwork. If you don't want to share your space, feel free to swat them or open a window to let them out. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we really have no idea how we can control this.
Floating in and out of the Lagoon is a great experience. In the summer months Cortes offers three markets on the weekends; Friday market at Mansons Hall, Saturday market at the Gorge Marina and Sunday market at Squirrel Cove.
  • Stunning view. Cozy space. Fresh eggs. All around lovely. A bit hard to find in the dark but Nora had given me her phone number so we figured it out. The view the next morning was fantastic!!! I’ll be back;)

    Paula2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nora's place is all what an ideal Airbnb should have, and we have stayed in many: location, character, great hosts. Location: on the top floor of a house in front of a small pebble beach, the private and quiet appartement overlooks a picturesque cove . The view is fantastic and provides great birdwatching, seal spotting and glorious sunsets. It must be a marvelous place to swim or kayak in the summer, but visually delightful in late autumn mists. The suite is large with an open kitchen to prepare meals (stove, oven, toaster, microwave, counter space, large fridge), separate comfortable bedroom and bathroom with all amenities including a first aid kit. There is cable, fast internet, plenty of hot water and an opportunity to use washing machine and dryer. It has a lot of character clad in wood planks. Old family pictures and historical books about the area provides the historical context. Ian has great stories about the house and the island. Nora is a warm , discreet and attentive host. Fresh eggs from her free-range hens, homemade jam and a squash from her garden were most welcome. Her vegetable garden is impressive. There are walks to take around the property, one along the shore through some bridges leading to nice swimming holes. Kayak are available to explore the nearby islands and a fire pit to bake the clams, mussels and oysters. Our stay was perfect!

  • Great view. Kayaks and standing board to your disposal. You get to interact with Nora's family. You can play with her pets and enjoy her garden.

    Magda2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Nora and Ian's place. The penthouse is a great space with a fabulous view out the two large windows. We had oysters once, clams once and mussels twice, all collected right in front of their place., along with fresh veggies and berries from Nora's large garden. We brought our kayaks and launched them right from the rocky/pebbly beach in front of the place for sunset paddles most nights and other great paddling. In addition to the great paddling, there is hiking nearby in K'Was park and up to the fabulous views from Easter Bluff. It was an all around fantastic experience in a great place with wonderful hosts. We will return!

    Don2019-07-13T00:00:00Z

  • Spent an amazing 6 nights in the yurt. It’s in a great location on Cortes, close to the public docks (we brought our kayak) and also 5 min walk to the marina. The yurt has so much space and is very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!

  • We loved Awesome Blossom! When it was smoldering hot at Manson's and Smelt Bay it was nice and cool at the yurt. The yurt is very private and quiet which is pretty for an island vacation. Thank you so much Awesome Blossom!

    Chris2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had never stayed in yurt or been to Cortes before our stay here. I would highly recommend both. And Sheryl was open, friendly and a true Cortesian!

    Scott2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • There is a satisfying quietness at the yurt and enough comfort that you can sink into the stillness of the forest for hours and days. The shape of the yurt and the lovely wrap around porch accentuate the experience. Very private and quiet, save for the sounds of an owl at night and raindrops gently tapping the roof. Sheryl was most helpful with communication and island orientation.

    Sam2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome experience. Would definitely go back! The yurt is incredible, very inspiring for simple living.

    Chelsey2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This yurt is a gem. Upon arrival, we enjoyed fresh apples picked from their tree and a wild flower arrangement; very welcoming gestures. Cortes is an amazing adventure and also relaxing at the same time. The yurt is a unique holiday experience with all the rustic joys of camping with all the comforts of a cabin. Rain or shine there is plenty to do outdoors and the yurt is very comfortable to spend time in. We enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the rain.

Perfect for a weekend getaway or longer stay on beautiful Cortes Island! This split level cabin is cozy, comfortable, and convenient. The cabin is located a stone's throw away from the Gorge Harbour Resort and our guests may have access to their amenities. Pool passes are sometimes available to purchase at the store and there is live music nightly throughout the summer. Hague Lake beaches are great! Cortes Island is a truly unique place to come and explore!
The cabin has a full kitchen with everything you'll need to cook and clean up after yourselves. The living room has a small pull out sofa that can comfortably sleep kids. This cabin can also be rented alongside the main house on the property, in order to accomodate large groups.
The George campground and marina is a happening place in the summertime! Lots of fun activities for the family. Join a morning yoga class, play some beach volley ball, or horse shows, check out the boats in the marina, or go see live music in the evenings. A great spot for the family.

  • Whitney’s cabin was a functional and cozy home base for all of our Cortes adventures. Our host ensured that we were comfortable and had everything we needed and provided us with local tips for places to go and things to do.

  • If you get a chance to stay here, you should. Whitney and Jordon were simply amazing hosts! My hubby and i couldn’t have been happier with our accommodation and their hospitality. Its super close to many fun swimming areas, Gorge Harbour Marina where there is Gas, groceries, and restaurant (30sec walk- where btw the service & facilities were awesome). Britney and Jordon were simply delightful, it was one of the best trips we have taken in years. Thanks again guys for the hospitality, songs & phosphorescence!! You guys ROCK! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊

The cabin is situated in Manson's Landing offering closeness to the lake, beach, shops, cafe, museum and community hall. Cortes Island is great for the person who loves the outdoors trails, biking, kayaking and so much or even a lovely place to cozy up and listen to the winter storms or if your fortunate enough to have some summer time on the island enjoy the white sandy lake and breath taking beaches!
Our cabin is located in the heart of Cortes Island. The cabin is bright and clean with a cozy feel. The bathroom has a beautiful cast iron soaker tub with no shower head. The cabin is a open concept with an open bedroom to the living and kitchen area.
We are in the most desirable area on Cortes Island. Everything you need is in walking distance. The ferry is a 20 min drive or even living like a local hitching your way!
  • Incredible stay! Located so close to our favourite Cortes Island spot. We will definitely be back!

  • Very charming place overlooking a forest and close to main store and cafe. Host is very helpful and friendly. Terrific balcony to enjoy the outdoors, with decent privacy, but with limited space on the property it functions well as a space from which to explore the island.

    Joel2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was very special to return to one of our favourite places. Tony and Deb are very special hosts: always willing to help, very friendly, and always going out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location would be hard to beat: a two minute walk to downtown but a great deck nestled in mature trees. We also enjoyed the one hour walk through the lagoon to Manson's Landing followed by the sea-to-school trail back.

    William2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely spot that is within walking distance to shops and grocery stores. The space was clean and tidy when we arrived, and totally adorable! We were given phone numbers, as well as greeted by Danielle and some of her family members over the course of the weekend so we always felt very well looked after while still having our privacy. Would totally book this place again in the future!

    Laura2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful little cabin, located close to everything you would need, including walking distance to the lake and ocean. Lots of thoughtful touches made us feel very welcome and the deck is a fantastic place to sit and enjoy the evening. Would definitely stay here again, great value, kind hosts!

    Kelly2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had an unexpected delay getting out, but they were understanding and gave us an extra hour.

    Ardell2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for the Cortes experience! Second time we have stayed there, hope to make it again.

  • We had a fantastic stay at the lakeside cottage! It rained for most of our trip and we spent more time indoors than anticipated. We so appreciated having a cozy and clean place to relax and wait out the rain. Host was super nice and the bottle of wine and chocolate was a lovely touch.

The sleeping tent is a new 13ft bell tent on a tent platform. Inside are a queen size bed, carpet, and chairs. An attached deck with a tent canopy provides a fully equipped kitchen and dining area with a propane stove, BBQ, electric kettle and coffee maker, etc. Breakfast essentials are supplied. There is an outhouse close by as well as an outdoor shower. Both electricity and water are at the site which is set in a quiet meadow next to a lovely old apple tree.
Mays Garden is a 2 acre property with a big open meadow where deer roam free. In addition to the main house there is a guest cottage (also on Airbnb). There is a big veggie garden, an orchard and a quiet grove of mature cedar trees.
Cortes Island is a gem of the BC coast. It is three ferries away from Vancouver, so casual tourists are minimal. Many people come here to take courses at Hollyhock, enjoy some fishing or simply take in the many delights of the island. May's Garden is located close to Hague Lake and within easy walking of Mansons Landing shops and cafe. Several kayak launch spots are just minutes away.
  • Lovely space!

    Jocelyn2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was easy to find, located in a beautiful garden next to the lake. Apple tree and gentle deer...peace. Clean and safe. Highly recommend for glamping in Cortes!

    Sunliving2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable, quiet and a lovely location for our first 'glamping' adventure. Cortes Is. is a wonderful island to explore and this is a perfect place for a home base. Well done Andy and crew! Molly & Chris Hilliar Copper Fern Guest House, Courtenay, B.C.

    Chris2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Andy's place was so amazing! The outside kitchen had everything you need for cooking, it was very clean. Andy left us lots of special things: eggs, cream, coffee, English muffins, jam in a cooler. Waking up under an apple tree and sharing apples with a deer and a beautiful fawn was so special. Next morning we got fresh vegetables from Sarah's garden ! Amazing place and wonderful people !

    Hal2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wow !!! What a lovely place !! Luxury camping, with absolutely everything needed, in a rich and vibrant nature. Amazing welcome and great human generosity from dandy. One of the best addresses visited on airbnb!

  • A quiet, and natural form of Glamping. One day it rained a ton, and I was dry and comfortable. And on hot days, the tents are well shaded. Just a lovely location.

This is a modern 600sf cottage (built 2016/2017) to high standards and finished in tasteful country style. It is set in a 2 acre park-like setting with its own private entrance. The cottage has two bedrooms and a living/kitchen room plus a spacious and sunny deck. The cottage has filtered well water and wi-fi. (We request guests to limit their data usage -- i.e. no streaming videos -- because we are on a "data diet") There is a campsite on the property that is also on Airbnb.
Situated in a quiet meadow and sheltered by a grove of alder trees, May’s Garden Cottage can comfortably accommodate one or two couples or a family. It is located within walking distance of Mansons Landing with its shops and café and close to Hague Lake which offers excellent swimming. The ocean beaches of Mansons Landing and Smelt Bay are a short drive away. Inside the recently constructed cottage you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with a propane cooktop. A generous bathroom with shower. Two bedrooms, both with queen size beds. A living/dining room with couch/sofa bed, dining table and armchair. The cottage has both a woodstove and electric heat. Plus a nice big, southern exposure deck equipped with a barbecue, outdoor table and chairs. And yes, there is a good wi-fi connection. (Minimal cell phone reception though). Access to the cottage is via a private driveway.
The cottage is in a quiet island neighbourhood, a mix of full-time and summer residents. There is some traffic on the road, but it is light. The property is fully fenced and safe for children.
  • We loved our stay at Andy’s place, it was so peaceful and relaxing. The location was fantastic and the place was very clean.

    Rachel2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with dishes, bedding, towels, books and movies. Andy's property is a beautiful, quiet piece of land that feels peaceful and secluded, but with easy access to him and others on the property for any inquiries we had. Excellent location close to Manson's landing, Hague Lake, Manson's Lagoon and Smelt Bay.

    Leah2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. Peaceful, quiet environment. Clean, modern cottage in the back of a large lot next to a huge forest. Some deer freely wandering around. Very bad to non-existent cellular service and very slow wifi, so don’t expect to be “productive” - but that’s the whole point, no? Water is drinkable, but has a mild sulphuric smell, so bring your own bottles of drinking water, if fussy. Amazing place. Thanks Andy!

    Vlad2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage for our family of four. Andy has clearly put a lot of thought into making the cottage comfortable for his guests - fresh flowers, lots of guide books about the island, coffee and a few things for breakfast in the fridge. Though the cabin sleeps six, the space was just about right for myself, my husband and our two 8 year-olds. I think of you were to have more people than that at you’d be tight for space. One thing to note is that there is not unlimited wifi, and guests are asked to keep their usage to a minimum. As a self-employed person, I had planned to do some work on our trip so that would have been good to know in advance so that I could plan for it. I ended up going to the cafe nearby instead. Just a heads up if you’re planning to use wifi for more than the minimum. Thanks again Andy!

    Lindsay2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at the cottage! It was private, and serene. The property was so beautiful. I visited Cortes for a wedding, but was able to turn it into a mini getaway and May’s Cottage was the perfect place to relax.

Rustic cabin, very peaceful, on a beautiful beach with stunning views. Two double beds, a bathroom with shower/tub, and a kitchen/ living area with a wood stove. Wifi access, and laundry facilities next door. Short walk to Hollyhock.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at this home. We were upgraded to the beach house at no extra cost because the cabin was being repaired so I can't speak to the cabin but the house was amazing and the location was beautiful! The house and cabin are at the end of a road right on the ocean so it is really private and quite. Very relaxing and peaceful. I recommend staying here 100%

    Misty2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nice oceanfront cabin with spectacular views and great location. Wonderful sun exposure on the deck and an area with a firepit to enjoy in the evenings. Quite private despite having another cabin rental on the same property. Would definitely stay again!

  • Second time there, location is just so spectacular!

    Christina2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Seriously this cabin is closer to the beach than waterfront properties! Wow, amazing location and views. Bring your camera! This was a perfect escape for a quiet, relaxing weekend. We rarely saw any other people except when we ventured up to Hollyhock Farm and heard no one else the entire time we were there. The cabin is fully equipped and has all amenities you’d ever need. There is a bath and shower, all kitchen utensils, towels, pillows, blankets etc. The only thing we found a little odd at first is that the doors do not lock, however, this really helped us chill out knowing the location is so safe you do not need to lockup. We traveled with a baby and 2 small dogs and there was plenty of space for us all. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a rustic retreat. Thank you for a great stay, we will definitely be back! Myla and family

  • We had a amazing experience I would definitely go back. It was fully equipped with blankets , kitchen supplies , towels etc. Stasia was super friendly.

    Colena2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stasia is a very outstanding host and ensured that we had everything we needed for our stay.  The cottage was very clean and in outstanding condition and everything in the cottage is in like new condition.  The kitchen is well stock with pots, pans utensils, etc so cooking small or large meals was a dream. The view from the large covered balcony over looking the private beach was excellent and it was a great place to relax after a day of hiking.  I very very highly recommend her rental to anyone looking to visit Cortes Island.

    Robert2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Stasia's place was wonderful. She's a great host and made sure to give us all the tips for our arrival as well as check in. Michelle's Cove was absolutely lovely. We were awe struck by the view and so happy to find every amenity inside. It was a great pleasure for me and my family celebrate my mom's birthday and Stasia made sure to make her feel special with thoughtful touches. Thank you again Stasia!

    Michelle2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Stasia was an excellent & friendly host. Her responses were always very fast. She made my Birthday getaway extra special. The private cove is beautiful, along with the rest of the island if you’ve never been! Her spacious cabin was well equipped and situated in a great spot on the island. We enjoyed Hague lake, Hollyhock, Squirrel Cove, etc. Absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing stay!

    Beatrice2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible gem! Spotlessly clean unit and a very well equipped kitchen. The large deck overlooking the beach, complete with an eating area and loungers, was great. You basically have your own private beach and the water is warm as it comes in over the rocks! Great for swimming. Stasia was a great host and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a good stay. Would I come back? You bet I would!

    Joan2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stasia was absolutely wonderful. She had thought through so many little details that made us feel very welcome! The cabin is gorgeous! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful space, and the location is fantastic. It's right next to the beach, with gorgeous views, and only a short drive to the co-op for groceries. Very relaxing and peaceful - just what we were looking for!

    Kendra2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • I can not say enough good about Stasia as a host, and the beautiful space at Michelle’s cove on Cortes island. Stasia communicated rapidly & clearly through our entire experience. Her guidance helped me navigate the ferry system. I left feeling I have family on Cortes island! a warm welcome greeted me. Stasia showed me the punch in code and the beautiful place, then it was easy to come & go as I pleased. The parking place & house turn off are well marked and easily accessible. The space is incredible! The photos do not do it justice. It is brand new and beautifully designed with high ceilings- a full size , anything you could think to need kitchen, laundry, deep , glorious bathtub / shower in the bath room. Everything sparkling clean, well organized, labeled and brand new. It is hard to show in the photos- but YOU HAVE YOUR OWN COVE!! My favorite is the deck over looking the cove- with comfy lounge chairs, table & bright potted plants. This is a dream location for a writer or someone wanting to be surrounded by Forrest & beach while working. And my little dog was welcome too. Stasia is an animal lover too. I’m writing a long review as I am only the second guest - when I arrived I wasn’t sure what to expect. I wanted everyone to know-This place & Stasia are incredible!

Just around the corner from sparkling Smelt Bay, Eden by the Ocean is a spacious 2 bedroom cottage nestled among large cedars on 1.3 acre shared property.
The cottage has two levels. The lower level (finished basement) has a second living room and a large bedroom, both with a window. It is a cool and quiet place to relax and sleep. Just a 5 minute walk to Smelt Bay beach, the house is set back and up a hill, tucked away into the cedars allowing for peace and quiet. On the main floor you’ll find: * a bathroom with vanity, soaker tub and heated tile floors * a large master bedroom with lots of storage and a queen bed with pillow top mattress * a cozy, open concept living room with a wood stove, lazy boy furniture, and a TV * an open concept dining area next to the living room * a workspace with large desk * a bright, fully equipped kitchen with a full sized fridge and stove On the lower level you’ll find: * a bedroom with a queen bed * a living room Out front there is a cool, shady forested area and in the back, lush gardens full of perennials, fruit trees and berry bushes with a peak a boo view of mountains and the ocean. • Great stay! Very cute and cozy. Janice was a great communicator and her home was clean and offered the perfect refuge after the day’s learning at Hollyhock and homebase to explore the beautiful island. Thank you!

    Alana2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Janice is super responsive and accommodating. Her place is ideally located and worked perfectly for our family. We loved staying there!

    Tina2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house with a great patio and garden. The upstairs bedroom is bright and spacious. The kitchen and living room are as well. The downstair bed rooms are a bit dark, but still do the job especially for the kids. If you are 5 like us, working with a single bathroom requires some rigger, but also that is not a problem. Overall a great place to experience Cortes Island, which has a special charm. If you participate in the local soccer get together (twice a week), you will also find out the difference between mainland and Cortes time

    Chris2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Janice was a great host despite not meeting her face to face. She was very responsive to emails and provided lots of useful information for our stay. The house is a great location and was a lovely place to enjoy as a family. Cortes is a unique and wonderful place and staying at Janice’s house was a great way to enjoy it. We would stay there again!

  • Great location! Tranquil setting close to beach and lake and amenities. Cottage is clean and bright. Everything works!

    Burke2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Janice’s place was comfortable and well equipped for our family of 5. It was sparkling clean upon arrival and I really appreciated the thoughtful touches left around the house ie: organic spices, local coffee, extra bathroom products, etc. The beds were comfy and we slept like babies to the sound of crickets, owls, and other wildlife. Our children loved foraging for apples and blackberries around the property and enjoyed riding their bikes to Smelt Bay beach located only 5 mins away by foot. The deck is a great place to BBQ and unwind with a glass of wine. This is a perfect hideaway in a private forest! Would definitely return.

    Katie2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it! Communication with Janice was prompt. Kitchen is very well equipped. The towels and linens are luxurious. And the location is walking distance to Smelt Bay. My husband and I were loathe to leave!

  • We had a wonderful time. The hosts are as friendly, helpful, generous and accommodating as you've ever encountered. The facilities are very clean and comfortable. The Berry Farm they run is a special treat as their berries and jams are prized by the locals and sold all over the area. Having deer grazing in the yard with the newborn fawns is a priceless, precious memory. My wife and I recommend staying here without reservation.

A few hundred meters through a forest trail to Hollyhock grounds, 5 minute saunter to Smelt Bay sunsets or Moon Beach moonrise, 2 km to our Natural Food Co-op and Mansons Landing Park, adjacent to Siskin Forest trails, and endless treasures to explore and enjoy.
  • This house is beautiful— all cedar interior, two walls of windows in the master, peaceful location. Recommend!

  • Cora was a great host, helpful in responding to my initial questions and a responsive but hands-off (in a good way) presence during our visit. We loved the space, especially the wood panelling and windows, beautiful morning to mid-afternoon light. Cora and her lovely family gave us perspectives on Island life, including introducing local plants, orienting us and sharing favourite places to visit (e.g. K'was park, Hank's beach). Paths to Smelt Bay, Hollyhock and Siskin trails are immediately accessible to Pond Farm. We might have bought more basics on Vancouver Island, but we enjoyed shopping at the Co-op and supporting the local economy. Ask locals about Manson's Lagoon (picked clams at low tide) and riding current as the tide comes in there...so fun. We'd love to return.

  • Wonderful place, very spacious, comfortable, and super quiet. Cora is a great host - even lent us some tools for clam-digging. And the island is an amazing place. We were sad to leave.

  • This place was so beautiful, perfect for our family. The hosts were around when we needed them and not around when we wanted privacy. The space itself is so beautiful - wood everywhere and tons of skylight - the house blends in perfectly with the natural environment outside. Had the best sleep here because it’s so tranquil at night and super comfortable beds. Super clean when we arrived too. Thank you wonderful hosts!

  • Cortes island is very special place with many outdoor activities. We loved staying at Pond Farm house. It is located right near beautiful forest trails that will lead you to Smelt Bay or Hollyhock.

Our cabin is nestled against the Gorge Harbour Resort. This three bedroom bungalow has four patio doors onto the wrap around deck to maximize your views of the scenery. The marina is just a stones away with many amenities (www.gorgeharbour.com). It is easy to boat into the harbour and get a slip on the gorge dock, or anchor in the bay. The house is a short walk up from the water. A bbq is set up on the deck with a view of the ocean. Come and explore Cortes Island's many gifts from this beautiful site.
The 3 bedroom house is great for family getaways. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and en suite bathroom, with large patio doors onto the deck. The additional 2 bedrooms both have double beds, and an additional bathroom with shower is right across the hall. An extra cottage is possible to rent for larger groups. See “GORGEous Getaways” Cabin 2.
This is the perfect spot for families to enjoy. With so many activities happening right next door; you can catch a kids movie night, check out the live music, go to a yoga class, or rent paddle boards for the marina! A nice restaurant and small grocery store are steps away. Nice lawns, pool area and a spectacular marina and amenities are only a few steps farther. Although the Gorge does sell pool passes during the shoulder seasons, usually in the summertime, it is reserved for people staying at the resort.
  • nice location, nice hostess, up to 6 people super accommodation

  • This 3 bedroom home is in a lovely and convenient location on Cortez. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night taking in the stars and quiet sounds of nature. First night we saw orcas splashing in the bay! All the amenities of the resort next door meant we didn’t need a vehicle to go out for a special dinner. I would definitely recommend this spacious, clean and comfortable space!

  • Great place for the family to get together. Pool, groceries and trails nearby.

  • This house is fabulous! Big deck with a view, lots of living room/dining area/kitchen space. Nice having the marina store down the hill for supplies and live music too! We loved it and can’t wait to go back

  • Great location, and a well appointed home in Whaletown. Whitney is a gracious and friendly host. You won’t be disappointed.

    Sam2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Airbnb is located very close to general amenities near the harbour resort, complete with fuel, propane, general/liquor store and restaurant with live music and recycling services. The wrap around deck and property is amazing, the interior is modern and spacious enough for 4 (or more) people, was very impressed with the amenities in the house. Whitney was an amazing and hospitable host all throughout, if you're planning on staying on the beautiful island of Cortes with a larger party, I highly suggest her place.

    Orville2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place is the same what you saw on pictures with balcony has beautiful view over the bay. Whitney is a great host and responded quickly. She also lended us some crab traps and we were able to catch some legal size red crabs. They are delicious. We missed our first day due to not reserve the ferry from Vacouver to Nanamio so highly recommended everyone book reservations on ferry since you need to catch the next two. Thanks Whitney for hosting us. We enjoy our time at your place.

1,500 sq. ft. rustic beachfront house on 5 acres...large deck...hot tub...gas barbeque....2 kayaks...beachside deck and beach access.... The Wilcox Lodge is a serene retreat nestled on 5 wooded acres on the shore of Gorge Harbour, Cortes Island, considered by many to be the best of the Evergreen Islands. These islands are located on the famed "inside passage" used by ships going to and from Alaska and are sheltered from winter Pacific storms by Vancouver Island, one of the largest and most interesting islands in the Northern Hemisphere. Cortes Island is served by regular scheduled ferry service from Campbell River. Campbell River on the east side of Vancouver Island has scheduled airline service from Vancouver (host city to the 2010 Winter Olympics), and charter service direct to Gorge Harbour is available from Seattle, Victoria, Vancouver and Campbell River. Cortes Island is in the "rain shadow" of Vancouver Island and has far less precipitation than Victoria or Vancouver. Weather is usually warm and sunny with cool evenings May thru October, but sometimes it stays hot into the night. The 1,500 sq. ft. Lodge is situated just above the beach with a panoramic view of the harbour and a view thru the harbour entrance of Vancouver Island mountains in the distance. Wildlife abounds. You may see bald eagles and many varieties of birds, deer down by the beach or out the kitchen window, sea lions, seals or an otter playfully swimming by, mink, and perhaps dolphins or a whale on the ferry ride over. The Lodge is rustic but has all modern conveniences, a fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher), comfortable and spacious living/dining area that opens onto a spacious 750 sq. ft. L-shaped deck overlooking the beach and harbour. 2 chaise lounges make for lazy sunbathing/reading afternoons on the deck and the cafe & dining tables are a perfect spot for outdoor dining. Anyone for oysters on the barbeque??? The Lodge sleeps 6: 2 in the lower sleeping loft (California King sleigh bed with McCroskey mattress & boxspring), 4 in the upper sleeping loft (double bed and trundle bed with 2 twin mattresses). The Lodge is a rustic "A" frame with an open floor plan, the upper sleeping loft is accessed thru the lower sleeping loft and both the lower and upper sleeping lofts are partially open to the main living area (so no bedroom privacy). The two sleeping lofts are separated only by a curtain. The bathroom has a low flow toilet, a small shower stall and a clothes washer (dry your clothes outside on the clothes line, they will smell so fresh and good); there is also an outhouse. There is ample parking for several cars. There is a land line phone for local calls and limited long distance, WiFi (Limited data streaming and shared with neighbors), flat screen TV w/DVD player (no cable), CD player and record player w/record collection just for old times sake. We also have a collection of books, some by local authors, and some board games. Main thing is to unwind, have fun, enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings... Please note that this is a RUSTIC beach house, partially hand built, not a modern city house transported to the water side. The house is challenging to clean because it is rustic and hand-built with lots of uneven finished surfaces and nooks and crannies, so please don't expect it to be immaculately cleaned, this is just not possible with this type of rustic construction. Also the living room carpet has some stains on it which means guests do not have to worry about damaging the carpet when you, your kids and your dogs inevitably track in dirt and sand. Also we are at the beach on on the edge of the forest, the house is loosely built (as opposed to tight construction), and while we go to great efforts to patch any potential entry ways for mice & squirrels, occasionally they do make their way into our home & we then will set mice traps to try and eliminate the problem as quickly as possible. Squirrels have been known to get in between the roof and ceiling. This can and does occasionally happen during the summer rental season. The driveway is an unpaved dirt road. Please go slow. It is bumpy and a low riding vehicle could hit bottom. While you don't need a 4-wheel drive to get down our driveway, you may want to leave a low-riding vehicle or an expensive new car at home. The Lodge is not as remote as it sounds, neighbors are within walking distance as is the Gorge Marina with gourmet restaurant, small grocery, gasoline, and a beautiful outdoor swimming pool & hot tub overlooking the harbour/marina and open to the public at certain times. One neighboring cottage can be seen from our deck. The Lodge is 2 1/2 miles from downtown Whaletown with government dock, post office, church and mini-library. The Lodge is not child-proofed and may not be suitable for young children (or you may have to watch them closely). Also, the short pathway down to the beach from the deck is a bit uneven and not handicap accessible. When you tire of hanging out around the Lodge, numerous outdoor recreational opportunities abound: fishing and clamming, boating, sailing, kayaking, hiking, biking, swimming at the Marina pool or Hague Lake, Hollyhock retreat center courses, other beaches to explore...There are several good restaurants on the island, and good quality organic foods for preparing your own meals can be purchased at the local Coop and from several local farms.

  • The house is a great location if you look for a quite place to relax and to take a break. It is well equipped, spacy and cosy. The location in a small lagoon is excellent and one has the possibility to explore the bay with the two kayaks. One has wonderful view on the lagoon. In particular we also liked the jacuzzi and the wood stove which creats a cosy environment. There is great selection of music records.

  • Wonderful place! Susan responded immediately with all our enquiries and we ended up extending our stay. Loved Cortes and would definitely stay here again.

    Kari2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxed, refreshed, recharged. That is how you feel after saying here. Waking up to the sound and smells of the ocean was amazing. We had daily whale sightings. There are kayaks and a paddleboard with life jackets. The kitchen is fully equipped. Good water pressure. When we tide is low, you can walk on the beach to Gorge Harbour and grab a bite or drink at the Floathouse Patio & Grill. Communication with Sue was great. We loved our stay here. Few things to note; there are a lot of mosquitos and wasps. Be prepared! Also, the road to the house is a dirt road. If you have a low car, it will be difficult to drive. It is a loft style house so there are no doors to the bedrooms.

    Sevin2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! It was exactly as described. It is a rustic style cabin but had all the great modern touches. The kids had a wonderful time using the hot tub and kayaks. We even had an encounter with a couple of orca whales in the inlet when out in the kayak. Plenty of seals as well. Overall a great stay.

    Denise2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • A rustic cabin in an amazing location! It's a perfect place to use the provided kayaks, in spectacular, sheltered Gorge Harbor. The hot tub was also not only the perfect place to soak and relax, but has an amazing view as well. So much wildlife to view from the huge deck - from geese and eagles, to otters, seals, and deer.

    Brian2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cottage, amazing views, very clean and all the amenities to feel at home, including a hot tub with spectacular scenery. May even catch a glimpse of dolphins playing in the bay.

    Jeff2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here! What an amazing place to stay on vacation. We couldn’t imagine a better place to stay on the island.

Curious Cabin is in the heart of one of the finest wilderness locations in British Columbia. Situated in a private corner of Curious Farm, it is close to the ferry, Gorge Harbour Marina, numerous great beaches, and a variety of hikes.
The cabin is clean and recently decorated. There is a functional, well-equipped kitchen, private deck space, and a great bathroom. The cabin sleeps 2 people in a romantic loft space.
Whaletown provides easy access to many local attractions. Gorge Harbour Marina has a shop, boating facilities, kayaks, canoes and paddle boards for rent, and a great restaurant (which we supply with produce). In the summer, there is a local craft fair and farmer's market, as well as daily yoga sessions overlooking the Gorge. The pristine Carrington Bay is a short hike away, as well as Whaletown Commons. There are many other walks, lakes and beaches a short drive away.
  • You can expect a very private and peaceful stay. We loved the cabin and we would stay there again.

    S2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Curious Cabin was excellent. It was perfect for what my wife and I wanted: a quiet private place in the woods that we could cook our own meals and relax. It is close to the ferry and hiking trails. Nestled in the woods and away from the farm but close enough that if they were issues I think we would have had no trouble contacting out hosts. Thank you Filipe Sharon and Claris for providing such a wonderful place.

  • Cute cabin in a lovely forested location. Very relaxing and exactly what we were looking for. Will go back for sure!

  • We had a very nice time on the island and at Curious Farm. The setting was setback, private and quite unique. We especially enjoyed the big tub of blueberries waiting for us one evening. We’re already planning our trip back.

    Alex2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin is nice and close to ferries, which is great so you don’t need to rush in the morning. There was also a lovely container of fruit for us :)

  • Curious cabin was the perfect escape for myself and my little family. The loft isn’t safe for young children, so Filipe and Sharon accommodated us with a spare mattress so my toddler and I could sleep on the main floor. It was quiet, had great amenities to cook our meals and private. We look forward to returning!

Private key-less entry, one bedroom self contained suite set in the forest on 4.25 acres with a lovely cottage garden. Near Smelt Bay beach (5 min walk) and Hollyhock retreat centre (15 min walk thru forest trails).
We are within walking distance of many trails and white sandy beaches. Manson's Landing and Hague Lake are also wonderful swimming spots and only a 5 min drive away. At Manson's Landing you'll find eating establishments, general store, food co-op and Fridays a farmers market at the community hall, with wonderful baked goods, local crafts and farm produce in season.
  • Great place to come and relax. It was very clean and the host went out of their way to think of every little item that a traveler would want. It is surrounded by nature and close to the beach. I would definitely recommend this to anyone spending time Cortes Island!

  • An absolutely fantastic place to stay. The hosts, Cathy & Ian, are very thoughtful. We were treated to freshly baked bread, fresh eggs, cream and coffee. All of the small appliances are there. We know that we will be returning

  • What a nice little place to stay while enjoying Cortes. Perfect location and super nice people!

    Charlie2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is Cathy and Ian's first season, and they have done a wonderful job putting this place together. Everything is nicely done and decorated. Cathy and Ian are very welcoming and communicative, even offering to lend us an "Instant Pot" if we needed one. They also gave us some great advice on what to do and see. There's a lovely small deck and adjacent gravel patio area with a tabletop BBQ and views of the gardens and woods. The gardens are fantastic, with an opportunity for fresh veggies and herbs. Fresh-picked veggies would mysteriously appear on the patio table :-) Homemade bread, jam, butter and fresh eggs were great! This delightful suite is in a great location in the southern end of Cortes Island - near Hollyhock, Smelt Bay, Hague Lake, Hank's Beach, Manson's Landing, Easter Bluff and Cortes Bay. While the rest of the island is rather hilly with narrow roads, this area is perfect for cycling around. Perfect for couples, this suite also has a sofa bed and with good friends we had no problem sharing this space with a second couple on the sofabed. There was lots of outdoor room With the nice weather and outdoor areas, we had lots of room to store our coolers and outdoor gear like bikes, paddles, floaty toys, snorkel equipment, etc. We also had two more friends staying elsewhere, and there were enough dishes, etc to cook dinner for all 6 of us and eat out on the patio every evening. One thing I want to mention for people new to Cortes Island - do NOT miss the beautiful Hague Lake, wonderful for swimming and other (nonmotorized) water sports. Also a picnic, happy hour or sunset paddle at Smelt Bay is a must. We will definitely be back! Thanks Cathy and Ian!

    Donna2019-08-23T00:00:00Z

  • Cathy and Ian are wonderful hosts. We all felt well cared for, including our dog. We loved all the little touches like the homemade treats, tour around the property and advice on local attractions. The cottage was cozy and clean and quiet. What more could we ask for? It was our first trip to Cortes and it won't be our last! A special thanks to Cathy!

'The Lighthouse' invites you to the perfect Cortes Island get-away for larger groups and families wishing to holiday together. This beautiful, southwest-facing, 4500 square foot country home offers spectacular 180-degree views of the Georgia Strait and mountains on Vancouver Island.
Situated on 2.2 acres overlooking Smelt Bay, the house comes complete with a heated 18' x 35' swimming pool. The decks and patios leading from every door are safe-guarded for the protection of small children. Relax around the pool or pick sand dollars, dig clams, gather oysters, go fishing, or just sunbathe on the beautiful white sandy beaches of Smelt Bay and Hague Lake. The area is known for its magnificent sunsets. The back of the house has a spacious courtyard with kiwi trees, hanging wisteria vines, and a fountain - a great shaded dining area when the sun is at its peak. The spacious half acre lawn features croquet and badminton, and lots of room to play frisbee, soccer, or just have a picnic. We are within walking distance (or a two minute drive) to 'Hollyhock', Canada's premier campus for personal growth workshops and societal well-being. Nearby, Misty Isles Adventures offers sailing and kayak tours.
  • Great house for large groups. Great view! Well stocked kitchen and second fridge. Clean pool. Big bonfire. We had a great long weekend.

  • Tony's home is absolutely beautiful! We had a large group of 16 people and there was enough room for everyone. Our family love cooking and Tony's kitchen had everything we needed. Kids loved the pool and the huge front yard. I definitely recommend Tony's place. Thanks again Tony for your hospitality!

    Zohra2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Lighthouse is ideal for a large family gathering. We were 15 (4 families) and had lots of room to have our own space. The kitchen has everything you need for large groups. Two refrigerators were a bonus. The pool is great - and kept clean. The house is stocked with games and movies - and there is a badminton court, croquet, bocce, soccer ball and frisbee for outdoor play. The beach is about a ten minute brisk walk (downhill). The walk home - a little more tiring. 🙂 The grocery store and Hague Lake (a beautiful spot with a sandy beach) is a five minute drive. Tony was quick to respond to our requests. Thanks again, Tony and Monika. We had a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend the Lighthouse to other travellers.

  • The coolest big house experience on Cortes!

    Aidan2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tony and Monika's house is the perfect summer getaway. Very spacious, very clean, very functional for a large group. The appliances are all high-end - there is plenty of fridge space for lots of food and drinks. The pool is very well-maintained, the decks are great, and the large yard is perfect for playing summer games. My group consisted of 14 guys and we never felt crammed up at all. Tony and Monika were great hosts - very accommodating, provided quick responses, and helped us when needed. I wish we had more time at this place! I'll definitely be returning!

    Bradley2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • we found your place to be great. We stayed in the King and it was very comfortable . Your place had a great kitchen and BBQ The decks great. Pool for those who used it great. All in all we all had a great time Tony responded to our needs quickly We were there, 12 adults, 16 for dinner. It was a birthday celebration and we had one big table. Easy access for all 16 at the table and enough dishes, glasses for wine and beer. The view is to die for and we watched the stars from the deck. Given two decks early risers had one and the other was big enough for 16 It is well supplied with large fridge, in fact two fridges. Since we had dinners cooperatively the kitchen worked well. The pool is great. Tony very responsive. All of said we would come back to this lighthouse, to this beautiful house. We have nothing but high praise. The island itself has lots of walks and sites to visit, the coop market is great as well as the gift site at squirrel cove, more stuff there than at the coop. It is a beautiful island While there are stairs there are none on the main floor I has a walker and it was an easy for me to move round

  • We were a group of 15 (10 adults and 5 kids) and had a wonderful time! The heated pool was a hit for our late august stay - and gathering clams at manson's landing at low tide is a must.
