It is Italy's largest national park, covering 1,925.65 square kilometers.[1][2] The park includes the Pollino and Orsomarso massifs, which are part of the southern Apennine Mountains. The park's highest point is Serra Dolcedorme, which is 2,267 meters high.[3] The park's symbol is the rare Bosnian pine tree. The common beech is the park's most prevalent tree. “Surrounded by the Mediterranean, the Park is rich in historical, artistic, and archaeological values. It includes mountain summits nearly reaching the 2,000 meters of height (Montalto is 1,955 m) and is crossed by several watercourses. It is is populated by important animal species like the wolf, the peregrine falcon, the eagle owl, and the goshawk. Most of the territory is dominated by forests of beech trees, silver firs, black pines, holm oaks, chestnut trees, and Mediterranean maquis. History Museum
“This is a nice park to visit. It’s not expensive, it has free parking, it’s a nice area to walk around. There are few others wondering about so time goes by slowly and leisurely. There are two museums on the property. In the summer, there are concerts and events held here in the evenings with the side wall of the Byzantine church as the backdrop.”

Scenic Viewpoint

$$$
“The place is "styled", the design has nothing to do with a clear Architecture, it looks more like "too much decorated". The prices for a dinner are very high for the region, but the one who loves fancy, will feel comfortable. Our advice is always the ice cream: Probably the very best Gelato in the entire district. Don't miss it! Unfortunately only open in high season in evening hours.”
