Boat or Ferry
“Purchase passenger ferry tickets at the terminal any time. No reservations required for passengers. ADVANCE FERRY RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR VEHICLES - Rule of thumb: make ferry reservations as far ahead as possible for your car on-line at www.steamshipauthority.com. (Ferry reservations open for the year in mid-January, and can fill up in one day for prime summer dates on the Vineyard.)”

Bakery

“Not really Scottish anymore, just a wonderful take-out eatery and bakery on State Road in Vineyard Haven. Not really walkable from the cottage (4 miles away), but is on the bus route. Gluten free and veggie options abound. Meals are made to order. Use the app on their website (scottishbakehousemv.com) to order ahead. They'll give you a pick-up time so you won't have to stand around and wait. They have picnic tables on the lawn if you only want to take out so far.”

Entertainment
“From their website: World-class musicians, mind-blowing art, provocative walks, unforgettable walks. Highfield Hall & Gardens is not your typical historic estate. While there's plenty of history within these glorious old walls, Highfield is a vibrant cultural center surrounded by restored gardens, peaceful walking trails and conservation land. The story of this property is a dramatic one as it was, literally, saved from the wrecking ball in 1994 and lovingly restored, opening as a museum and historic site in late 2006. It is open to the public April 15 through October 31: Tuesday--Friday, 10 AM - 4 PM Saturday 10 AM - 2 PM Sunday 12 PM - 4 PM Closed on Monday except holidays. Members: Free Adults: $8 Seniors (65+): $5 Children under 12 and Active Military: Free North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) members: Free highfieldhallandgardens.org ”

“This restaurant used to be The Wave, and wow — what an improvement. They have tasty, innovative food and a raw bar outside on the patio. Their Ahi tuna appetizer is a standout. And the lobster roll was quite good, too. This is THE place to go in Marion.”
