It is hard to describe what a perfect place Lee’s house is. I went there with a friend to spend a weekend in the country, and I found myself discovering one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I had ever set foot in. The lodge is comfortable, clean, well decorated and it has an amazing view over the Pyrenees. The owners are kind and caring, and Lee even took the time to draw us a map for a great for hours hike on the mountains – were we discover more of this beautiful region. We will come back as soon as possible!

We have spend 10 days in the house with our small children, and it is just gorgeous time! The place is very green, very quite, and just perfect for everybody who are looking for peace and conection with nature. Beautoful view and songs of birds, no noise, no cars, no any contamintaion. A lot of space and full mountain to have nice and easy walks with small children. Lee and Suisy were very perfect hosts! Always ready to help and advise, their house is in 100 metrs out of the Gite that they rent, so any problem is fixed in the moment. And very respectful for privacy and the rest of guests. Thank you very much and highly recommended!

Mi compañero y yo hemos pasado tres días en esta casita y hemos encontrado lo que buscabamos. Estancia perfecta para quien busca tranquilidad, desconexion y vivir en plena naturaleza. La casa esta limpia y no falta de nada. Rodeada de montañas, te despiertas con el canto de los pajaros y si puedes madrugadar, puede que veas algún ciervo!! Lee y Susie, son muy agradables y serviciales. Cuando llegamos estaban trabajando en su huerto y nos recibieron con una gran sonrisa. Nosotros no hablamos mucho ingles y nada de francés y nos hicieron una guía práctica de bienvenida de la casa en español la misma tarde que llegamos. Estamos encantados y es muy probable que volvamos!! Gracias por compartir vuestra forma de vida :)

Patrick's cottage was absolutely wonderful to stay in. The town of massat is filled with kind people, lovely cafe's and markets, it is also within a very walkable distance. There are many trails right around the cottage or within a short drive. I hope to be back to this place one day soon!

We were lucky to be the first family to stay in this beautiful home. Patrick and our local contact were informative and attentive from the start through our week long stay. The house itself is lovely; incredibly functional, well-kept and solid in a beautiful way, the way a rural mountain home should be. Hiking trails start at the back door. The nearby village (walking distance) provides local goods, and a great central cafe/restaurant. Our group was 3 adults and 2 small kids - we came for sport climbing in nearby crags, gentle hiking with the kids, and spent a lot of time enjoying the big fireplace and making meals in the house. To anyone who wants to spend time being close to amazing nature - I would recommend a stay at Patrick's cottage.

If you like the mountains and the peace and quiet of a lovely holiday home, go here! A beautiful house, with a strong personal style, many terracces, close to the woods, many hiking trails and close to the village with many (bio) shops. A perfect holiday is waiting for you!!

Our holiday in Patrick's cottage was perfect. There is lots to do and see in the surrounding area and stunning mountain scenery. Si vous aimez la nature, vous êtes servis chez Patrick. Nous avons bien apprécié notre séjour d'une semaine. La maison en pierre avec de nombreuses terrasses très bien exposées quand il y a du soleil.

Loved the place. It's better than the photos. It has a 50s - 60s feel about it, esp. with the beautiful furniture and decor. Really warm, cosy and beautiful. I've stayed at many places, both with AirBnB and others, but this place would rate as one of the best I've ever stayed in. Anne Marie was a gracious hostess, even when we had to leave a message saying that we would arrive later than expected. Strongly recommend the place to anyone.

Anne Marie and her husband made us feel like we were staying with family. They were kind, flexible, understanding and helpful. We got our car stuck in a muddy field in the middle of a snow storm (we took a wrong turn) and they asked a neighbor with a tractor to get us out. What would we have done without them? The house itself is charming, in a gorgeous little village. We had an excellent weekend despite the difficult beginning. My daughter asked this morning if we could move into that house forever. We loved it!

A wonderful country cottage in a quiet village surrounded by beautiful mountains. There are hiking trails right out of the gate and views to the high, snowy peaks. The house is clean and well arranged for a family. The beds are comfortable and kitchen has all the necessities. There is a wonderful little sitting area out the front door; perfect for an sunset drink or bbq. Anne Marie and her husband were charming hosts. They live just up the lane and were readily available with information as needed. While there is no wifi, we had decent cell signal at all times so could plan our days without a problem. We would happily stay again.

Aleu é uma aldeia linda. As paisagens são arrebatadoras. A casa de Anne Marie é um mimo. Está repleta de objectos cheios de alma !! Tudo tem um valor especial, nada está ali ao acaso. As comodidades são optimas para dormir e para cozinhar. Recomendo a toda a comunidade Airbnb. Anne Marie é muito querida e quando chegas, parece que estás em casa da tua familia.

We had an excellent stay at Maison Esmeralda this summer. Our hosts Mick and Marcia were so accommodating, kind and helpful. Their two lovely children played with our children for hours in the plunge pool. In practical terms, the property is located beside quite a fast road, but once you are inside the gated property you don't really notice it. There is also off-road in the garage parking. The old house is full of charm, with beautiful period features. The floorboards are very creaky! We stayed in both the old house and the gite. The gite is in the prettiest location, overlooking the river. Whilst it is near the main house, it offers a feeling of privacy. It is simply equipped and great value for money - perfect for a family of four. The gardens are pretty and there is a pleasant seating area overlooking the river. There are great walks nearby. Mick was so helpful with directions. Mick was also really helpful when we had problems with our car. To sum up, this is the perfect place for a completely relaxing and tranquil holiday in the gateway to the Pyrenees.

The house is beautifully located by a river. Tastefully decorated mixing antique and contemporary style, it feels really cozy. We loved the garden area with swings where our 4 year old daughter spent a wonderful time. Michael is super helpful and friendly, he can advise of the many treks available in the area and will make you feel at home. Thank you!

We stayed at Gite Esmeralda for a week in early July with our 1 year old son. The gite is exactly how the photos show it. The weather was lovely, much cooler than the southern cities but bright and sunny at the same time. The gite is perfect for a one year old as there are games and toys to play with, gardens to explore, and a climbing frame. We were on foot for the week and there was plenty for us to do despite not having a car. Michael gave clear instructions on how to get to the gite using public transport (and a taxi for the last bit), and there is a little shop in the village, with a market in the nearest town which is about 3km away which you reach by a lovely riverside walk for most of the way. The area is very beautiful with lots of walks to explore. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come again. Thank you.

My husband and I had a wonderful week staying in Yvelise's gite. The gite is very comfortable and has everything you need, if not more! It is nestled in a beautiful garden with gorgeous flowers and an array of trees. The view from the garden over to Mont Valier is stunning, especially when lounging on a deck chair with a glass of wine! Yvelise and her partner Peter, are friendly and helpful hosts, who are more than happy to recommend places to visit and mountains to hike up. The area is very peaceful and quiet, a perfect holiday retreat.

Me and my husband were happy to stay at this lovely place. Amazing views, perfectly clear air, wonderful fireplace . We've passed excellent 10 days - deeply relaxing and hiking over the nearest mountains. Yvelise and her husband Piter were extremely attentive to us and gave us very detailed directions on what to do, where to go, what to see.

If you want to stay in the countryside in peace and quiet, this is it. Apart from the hosts own house and the other cottage they have for rent, there are no immediate neighbours. Yvelise keeps a lush and beatiful garden - a perfect place for relaxing in the shade after a days walk in the mountains. You will find a lot of books and brochures about the Arieges area in the cottage. Yvelise made sure, we felt welcome and was very helpful answering questions and making suggestions on what to see and do. Highly recommendable.

Charming house perfectly equipped in the middle of the lovely region of Ariège. Every thing was clean and tidy, and decorated with taste. Have some days of complete relax near de fire or in the big terrace sharing a barbecue with the family. We will surely come back. Thank you Tom

Tom & Suay were amazing hosts. Extremely friendly, easy going and very helpful. They have done an incredible job on renovating this gite and the views are simply stunning. There was ample wood provided for the gorgeous log burners and Tom gave us some great recommendations for mountain hikes which we loved exploring. We also, we got engaged here so the gite is even more special to us.

My husband and I have enjoyed some wonderful days in Le Coucou Gîte. All good reviews about hosts and the house are true. Tom and Suay were very friendly, solicitous and have been very patient with us when our GPS broke down halfway and we arrived with a delay of more than 4 hours of the scheduled time! Thanks for waiting with a smile! :) The house is even more beautiful than in the pictures! Very comfortable beds, chairs and sofas. Kitchen well equipped with everything one might need to cook! There is a lovely porcelain crockery and it is a pleasure to eat in the dining room with that beautiful rustic wooden table and so beautiful dishes! The views are stunning! It´s so nice and peaceful to be thrown on the deckchairs on the terrace listening to the birds and appreciating the views!! There's even a pair of binoculars on the door for a closer look! Then wait until night comes to feel the magic of the place with a special lighting in the garden. Wow! These details make this house be more special than the others. Ariège region is beautiful with many amazing places to visit! Tom recommended us the weekly market of Saint Girons and we loved it! It is essential! Tom, thank you for the maps with hiking trails! Definetively We love your house. Every corner of the house has an special charm. The house has been designed with an exquisite taste and every single detail has been thought through. Tom and Sarah has been very kind, always giving good advices to get to know better the area and they have also been very fast giving answers. The heaters work excellently well and it has been very easy for as to make them work. We really enjoy it and our baby and dog too!

Tom and Suay were great hosts. They made us feel very welcome. The gite was ideal as well. The bed was comfy, everything was clean and well stocked and we loved using the wood burner too. It was quite nippy a couple of nights we were there so it made the place really cosy. It's a great base for walks and looking at lovely views, and the market on Saturdays in St. Girons was brilliant. There was loads of lovely produce to buy and lunch options (and anything else you might want, from herbal medicines to solar panels!) One observation that might be relevant to less able bodied people is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow. Everything was wonderful though and we really enjoyed our stay :)

The house is very cozy, and you will find everything you may need to cook. The host let us a basket with fruits, peanuts, cookies and chocolates that we really appreciate. The mountain views are really fabulous, great place for relax and enjoy the nature sorrounding. Andrea and Paul are very friendly and nice, and will make you feel at home. Very attentive. Leur gite est charmant et dispose de tout ce dont on a besoin, avec de gentilles attentions (corbeille de fruits dans la cuisine, carafe d'eau dans la chambre). Le jardin est magnifique et rend les lieux magiques. Parfait pour se ressourcer et se couper des tracas de la vie quotidienne. Nous le recommandons vivement.
