Check In
Neema Homes is located within in a few minutes walking distance from Kumily bus stand on the Kerala side. Though it's quite close to shops, restaurants, and the main road, it's secluded enough to give you a peaceful vacation. Abdul is a great host who went beyond his way to make me feel comfortable and offered suggestions on things to do. The room is quite comfortable and clean and total value for money. I would recommend this homestay for anyone looking for a stay in Kumily

Abdul and his family are very friendly and welcoming hosts. We really enjoyed our stay and will visit again in future. As Kitchen was going thru refurbish we didn't had much option for home made lunch and dinner.

Abdul's places is bang in the middle of Kumily but tucked away from the hustle bustle in a narrow lane which you can miss if you blink. But the location is central and restaurants, kalari places are all very near by. We had a minor confusion regarding the number of rooms, which the Abdul's very graciously cleared. The rooms are on the first floor, spacious, more like suite rooms, with sitting area, bedroom, wash area and bathroom. Everything spic and spark. Gave a feeling of living at home. Their home is surrounded by lots of trees, some quite unique ones as well, we so regret not having had time to explore more in their garden. Abdul's are extremely warm, they gave us lots of inputs regarding the national park and helped in planning our next day. not just that, I was specially touched by their simple gestures such as getting extra pickle, letting my mother pluck a branch from their tree, helping us with our luggage, it reflected how down to earth and grounded they were. The breakfast next morning was sumptuous. A very tasty Kerala treat of appams and curry. It was all in all an excellent experience and I would definitely go back.

Abdul and his family are lovely, helpful, caring and receptive. We had many very nice conversations and they offered lots of suggestions and advice throughout our trip. I cannot thank Abdul enough for the personal help he and his brother gave me since I put them through a LOT of extra work due to circumstances. When I fell sick, they drove me to the hospital in the middle of the night and also helped trace my bag (with lots of valuables, money and passport) I had left behind someplace (not at their home) in town. They also provided wonderful local Keralite breakfast every morning. You couldn't ask for better hosts! However, there were certain niggles that made our stay less than perfect. We got certain items only on request. We had to ask for water each time we exhausted our bottle and had to request a dustbin in the room (important to mention - upon asking, they provided these immediately). For foreign tourists I should mention that toilet paper was not provided in the bathroom but the water spray that is used by us Indians. However, I am certain they would provide it on request, or perhaps automatically provide it when the room is booked by foreigners. The rooms tended to get quite stuffy, lacking air conditioning. However, this may be our own fault: We tended to keep the windows shut (esp. the one facing into the woods) to keep out the mosquitoes and bugs. And this made the bedroom quite hot (October) and lacking fresh air. Of course the solution is to leave the window open and accept the fact of life that bugs love tropical forests same as humans! However, something to keep in mind perhaps. That said, the rooms were newly renovated and painted and were in excellent shape. All linen was fresh and clean and they provided a lot of fantastic tea :-) I can summarize it this way - best possible location, truly wonderful and caring hosts, great price, and a place worth staying in despite the caveats I've outlined above.

We spent 2 nights in Abdul's place, it was awesome. The place is very closed to the bus stand, 10min walking to the national park, and near to a good restaurant : Hotel Central. The breakfast was so delicious. Abdul is very kind and helpful. I recommend it.
