Sparkling clean12 recent guests have said that this home was sparkling clean.

Our cozy little cottage opens onto an oversized Southern screened porch that leads to a private courtyard. Festive nights in the French Quarter can be followed with a nightcap on the porch or early morning coffee listening to the song birds bringing in the new day.

Phyllis is a very nice host. She walked us through everything we needed to do while in New Orleans and she had a list of places to visit and eat ready for us. The issue was that we found cockroaches in the bathroom on our second night there and my friend and I didn’t want to spen…

Response from Phyllis:
The neighborhood is very eclectic with a variety of people of all socioeconomic and racial groups. This sort of "hipster" environment is sought after by most who want a true New Orleans neighborhood. As for the alleged roach, no one in NOLA can prevent a rogue giant palmetto bug (aka giant roach) from coming up through a drain any more than they can prevent a bird from flying into the courtyard. This is the nature of a tropical climate and I am sorry that it was upsetting to you. Palmetto bugs are creepy looking but totally harmless. We DO NOT have a roach problem and no other guest has ever mentioned seeing a palmetto bug or roach in the cottage. Additionally, we have monthly pest control and have never had one single complaint about a bug. I would have killed the bug for you had I been contacted. As a Super Host I am very available for my guests when they need something. My previous guest reviews speak for themselves. Allegedly I was unavailable to you. On the night of the palmetto bug sighting you texted me once after 10 pm asking if I was awake. I was not awake and didn't hear the ding alert on my phone. The next morning I saw the text and replied that clearly I was not awake when you texted. There was never a phone call or knock on my door asking for assistance. You simply gathered your things and left without affording me the opportunity to kill a bug for you. That night prior to going to bed I had texted you asking if you had a good day. You replied that you had and you were heading to the cottage for the night. I went to sleep thereafter. As a host I can not remedy an issue if you, the guest, does not show due diligence by making a real effort to contact me. One text asking if I am awake is insufficient. Leaving in the night without a word to me is not what I would expect a reasonable guest to do. I'm sorry you are uncomfortable in a diverse neighborhood. I'm sorry that a palmetto bug was upsetting to you but neither of those things are within my control as a host. As a guest you have a responsibility to inform your host of any concerns or issues and afford them the opportunity to remedy the problem. Unfortunately that did not happen.
