The space

Cozy 2 bedroom, all knotty pine, wood floors, leather furniture.
Relax in this cozy small 2 bedroom cottage, nestled on a 575 wooded acre preserve with a rushing native trout stream flowing through the property and a series of mini water falls with a huge cool soothing swimming hole. There is an abundance of wildlife, an exceptionally pristine natural wooded landscape. Perfect for a quiet romantic getaway.

Entering the driveway, one begins a slow descent into the relaxed, other-worldly aura of the peaceful, bucolic and mysterious Dwarfskill Glen, traveling half a mile before reaching the cottage, the four-bedroom vintage main lodge and a small one-room cabin (both also available). From the top of the driveway, one can see a far ridge, which is part of the Dwarfskill Preserve Property.

The open combined kitchen, dining and living area in the cottage is all knotty pine with wood floors, ceiling fan, cathedral ceiling with French doors overlooking a back lawn/meadow, with a picnic table, charcoal grill, abutting the forest. Two small bedrooms, each with queen size beds. Comfortable furniture, gas stove and kitchen stocked with necessary dishes, cookware and spices. Immaculately clean, with quality bed and bath linens.

The Dwarfskill creek is just down a path through the woods; it can be heard babbling through the dense hemlock and pine forest as it rushs downstream to Split Rock Falls (ten minute walk from the cottage). More than a mile of the Dwarfskill, which is a naturally-reproducing troutstream, runs through the property.

The cabin is located six miles from Milford, PA, which Atlantic Magazine once called “the prettiest county seat in America”; three-quartes of the village is in a National Historic District and it galleries, antiques, coffee shops, boutiques and specialty shopping.

Heritage attractions include Grey Towers (Richard Morris Hunt-designed 19th c. stone mansion), The Columns Museum (featuring the blood-stained Lincoln flag, which cushioned the President's head moments after he was shot) and the Hotel Fauchere/Relais & Chateaux (see (Email hidden by Airbnb) with its three restaurants, patisserie, day spa, vintage menu collection and permanent exhibit of Hudson River School paintings. The day spa, Badea & Soul, offers massages, facials and body scrubs/wraps in the comfort of your cottage rental, by pre-arranged appointment. The cottage is beyond amazing. The main sitting room is a great size and so beautiful. Also made great use of the screened in porch. It was wonderful that one of the bedrooms had AC. We enjoyed hiking and the swimming hole. The grounds are beautiful but it was very hot & humid. …

The cottage is quaint, close enough to town, and feels like a retreat. It's in pretty good shape for being an older place. There's great nature in the preserve. Our hostess Cindy was friendly, kind, and accommodating. Recommended for a weekend with your dogs, or dawgs, in the woo…

I am writer and investor who lives in nearby Milford and New York City. Loves dogs, nature, reading and gentle, kind people. I bought the property because it is exceedingly private, evokes a spiritual connection to nature and it's movie-set gorgeous.
