Welcome to the old bakery, in the center of medieval Doesburg.
Built around 1870. It has views on two sites overlooking a stone walled garden where chickens roam around.
It has its own bathroom with shower and toilet and an entrance through the backyard.

The space

Your room is the former bake house where bread was baked for the main house where once a shop used to be. It has its own entrance, a double bed and a private bathroom with toilet and shower. If you want to come with children we can provide more beds.

There is a table with chairs, and a small refrigerator. A sofa to relax and we provide drinks and local products in our alternative minibar.
You can make your own coffee and tea and we provide everything you need for breakfast.
It is possible to join us for dinner or have your own dinner in your room for 7,50.
You are welcome to use the kitchen.

Guest access

In summer you can sit outside in the garden and have drinks and dinner there.

Interaction with guests

We live in the mainhouse and can help you with whatever you need.

Other things to note

We have animals in the house. Though they are not allowed in the B&B, we can not garantee it is suitable for those suffering from allergies.

Anneke is a great host. We had a great time talking with her and her husband Henk. One night was not enough. The apartment is very nice. Doesburg is a great place to stay.

The Old Bakery is in a great location - just a few minutes walk from the centre of Doesburg. There is a free car park across the road. The room is very spacious and the decor is colourful and fun, with lots of bits and pieces available to buy. There is loads of local information in the room, so lots of ideas for trips out (we recommend bike hire). Breakfasts were incredible, with lots of variety and generous portions. And as there is a fridge in the room, and table settings laid in the room each day, we could get up and get breakfast whenever we wanted. Anneke and Henk were really great hosts and we felt very much at home there. Would love to go back!

A cosy and welcoming place. Everyone including the chickens and the dogs make you feel welcomed. Very clean and functional place to stay. The layout and artefacts keep you entertained. The food was more than adequate and of a good stadard and variety.

Beautiful house with very clean and interesting room full of arts and local products which were also for sale. Room was located at the back of the house offering also privacy and own entrance. Our daughter loved to play with the animals (chickens, cats and dogs) wandering around the backyard. Anneke with her husband were great hosts and served us also very tasty dinner.

Anneke and Henk have a beautiful place. The room is clean and spacious and it feels like you're sleeping in a little museum - many of the things in the room are for sale. You'll feel right at home. The breakfast is amazing: fresh bread, lots of biological products and even the fridge was filled with delicious products. The sun peeks through the windows while having breakfast and you can listen to relaxing music while having your meal. Anneke and Henk placed a crib in the room for our son and they provided a high chair as well. We would definitely recommend this place!

Journalist and (travel) writer. I travel a lot for my work. Love meeting people and hearing their stories. When I travel, I try to stay at people's home because it is wonderful way to to get to know and meet people. When I receive people I hope to make them feel at home. …
