The open plan living area means you can cook and enjoy the the atmosphere with space to be creative in the kitchen then eat at the Art Deco table or al fresco. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a toaster for those of you who prefer toast for breakfast. Although all the equipment is present to cook any meal, anything extra you might require, baking tins, cookie cutters and hand blender for example, can be borrowed from the owners.
There is a stunning vintage Belgian woodburner surrounded by an enormous granite fireplace with historic motifs carved into the stone.
Massive original timbers support the ceiling with traditionally preserved artifacts.
The large bedroom is furnished with good antique furniture and beautiful Persian rugs underfoot lead to the well appointed bathroom with its antique, rare model double ended roll top bath and modern shower cubicle. Bubble bath provided!

Interaction with guests
We live next door so are available if you need anything BUT we are discrete; so if you really want to get away from it all and see noone, you can just e-mail or text us with any questions.
Other things to note
On arrival, you will find a comprehensive Welcome Package which includes a light supper, croissants and home made preserves for your breakfast next day and essentials such as butter, cheese, milk, beverages, wine and cider. Bubbles are provided for the bath and a special hand made soap made using natural products is provided. You don't need to bring dishwasher detergent or washing up liquid....its all there!
We are not on any public transport route so your own transport is a must. If, however, you want peace and quiet and want to be able to see the stars at night without ambient lighting burning them away, this is the place for you.
We expect people to behave responsibly and respect the environment and our property.
We welcome your dogs but do ask that they are kept on a lead within the garden. We have free range chickens and geese which tend to be a magnet for even the most perfectly behaved dog. We also have dogs who are kept under control for this reason.
We don't mind smokers but would prefer that you smoke outdoors if the weather is good enough. If you do have to smoke indoors, make sure the bedroom door is closed and the windows open.
All the radiators have thermostatic valves. If you are cold, turn them up but if you become too warm, turn them down, don't open the windows to cool down!
From Dec 23, 2017 - Jan 05, 2018 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
I moved to France 10 years ago to be with my lover and gave up my career as a radiographer to start a new adventure as the proprietor of a gite. I fell in love with France when I visited with my family but never dreamt I would one day live here! Floyd piqued my interest in French food so it really is where I am meant to be! My gite is never static. It is like a grown up's doll's house so if I see a picture or something I like, I will get it, if it works, of course! I love the vintage and antique style, so my gite is furnished with Art Deco furniture but provides you with all the modern comforts, who could live without a dishwasher? I can't, so I wouldn't expect you to!
I enjoy meeting my new guests and finding out what they want from their stay at Le Calipel; do they want to hibernate for a week, seeing noone and only venturing out to get more food (and wine!) or do they want to see the sights and enjoy a bit of French life. While being discrete, I am available if needed, even if my guests just want to ask me to recommend a boulangerie, or somewhere to visit a little bit different.
I enjoy cooking and preserving produce from the garden and hedgerows, so your welcome pack is brimming full of artisanal goodies which includes honey from our own bees and eggs from our very happy free range hens. I love crafting, so you will find soap, made by me, in an embroidered sachet made from vintage French linen.
I don't travel. I don't need to. I love my life here and have the occasional visit to England to see family and always want to get home.
