Håjen is a small forest hideout for someone looking for a mini adventure. With its meditative surroundings it's perfect for a bypasser looking to spend a night in the aurora forest. Light up the fireplace and brew some coffee, read or just relax.

The space
Håjen is ment to be a near self-service forest cabin, which means it provides the basics like fire for the stove which can be used for cooking and heating, a source of fresh water — the tank holds 20 liters than can be refilled with a 10 liter container from the river near by, fire matches and toilet paper. In addition you have a power source for charging phones etc and plugging in one 220 volt device like a computer charger or similar — just make sure it doesn’t suck more than about 200 watts, and I try to keep salt and pepper, oil, coffee and some other goodies, but it depends on the use. There’s a wool blanket and the mattresses do have covers that are cleaned regularly, but I don’t provide linen in between each visit, I always recommend brining sleeping bags independently of season.

The fresh water comes through a regular water tap and if it doesn't flow when you turn it on just suck the water out while its on until the water starts flowing again. Be aware of the air flow controller of the fireplace, it's a metal tap that sticks up from the back of the oven. When it follows the pipe direction you open up the air flow and turning it transversal you limit it — that’s how you can control the power and how fast the wood burns out, it’s not optimal, but it works ok. It should be open when you light up to get the fire going good — and also when you open the hatch to avoid smoke backlash, but control it as you see fit, some occasional smoke backlash is normal, you’ll figure it out.

There is no latrine at the moment so there's a shovel on the back to help you cover up poop and other organic materials if you use the toilet: the forest.

As you might have seen in the pictures there’s a hatch to open up the front wall, just be sure you open the hooks on the floor and on the lever beforehand, and that the lever is placed in its position on the terrace floor when open. There are to buttons hanging a bit loose next to the solar regulator to turn on the lights, and the inverter on the floor needs to be turned on to work.

The cabin is located on a little hill so you don't have any direct visual contact with the house near by, and you have a view over the ocean. You'll be free and alone to enjoy a little forest hideaway.
