Beautifully refurbished Tree-Caravan situated inside a cluster of old pine trees & only 2 minutes walking distance from the sea bordering the property. The land is part of the natural park, has stunning views across the ocean & amazing sunsets.
Comfortable double bed, fridge, gas stove and sun deck with full view of the ocean
Elsewhere you may find units-under-tall trees. Here you are INSIDE a horizontal tree, embraced 360 degrees by its low branches. Unrivalled Privacy & sense of Exclusiveness.

The space

This is the only self-sustained Eco-Caravan directly on the sea-front, it is the closest to all beaches. You can walk to the rocky beach seafront in 2 minutes. Over 6 hectares of privacy at the wild beauty of Cabo Espichel.
The tree-caravan is part of a project which celebrates the poetry and philosophy of Portugal's famous poet: Fernando Pessoa and his pseudonym Alberto Caeiro. The love for nature which he expresses can be found in this lovely space which is in the middle of nature and directly on the sea front. We let nature speak for itself without the need for fancy adornments.
-You have your own rocky beach where you can let the waves crash over you in the rocky pools.
-Located INSIDE, not 'under' (giving you much more privacy) a rare centenary horizontally grown typically Portuguese pine tree. You have your own table, chairs and sun-deck from which you can view the sea and unforgettable sunsets. In the distance the Sintra mountains and the lights of the bay of Lisbon can be seen. The tree-caravan is tastefully decorated with distinctive wallpaper, real wood cladding and cork. It has all basic amenities, such as a 2-pit gas stove for cooking, a small fridge and your own sun-warmed outdoor shower. The (dry) compost toilet is shared.
-The tree-caravan is situated within 15.5 acres (6.3 hectare) of agricultural land which gives you unparalleled privacy and exclusiveness (you can see but you cannot be seen ... )
- You can walk to the seafront in two minutes or to 'Foz beach' in 15. The Village has a small supermarket, and a great bakery, a coffee/lunch place and a few restaurants. We have good contacts and are happy to advice you and book you a table.

Ask us about the good life and the answer is to stay here (and if you don't believe us: read the guest reviews!).

For more detail & practicalities:
-Merely 40 minutes from Lisbon. With your own car you would have greater autonomy which gives you the opportunity to explore the area really well.
However we also have a couple of bicycles available and upon request we can also pick you up from Santana if you take the 207 bus from Lisbon.

Guest access

The entrance to the land is reached via a 3 km good dirt road from the village of Azoia on Cabo Espichel. Shout if you need help!

By foot, you can also exit the land at the bottom from where you reach the rock-pools and from where you start your walk to the beach.

Interaction with guests

We can give you all the necessary information on local restaurants and places to visit (please see references).
Nuno is extremely fond of the well known Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa and is happy to talk about his work (specially Alberto Caeiro, his pseudonym).

'We had a wonderful time! They truly turned this piece of earth into a paradise. The caravan had all you need, is very clean and super cozy. You are at your private beach in 5 minutes and can enjoy an awesome sunset! Nuno and Suze are great hosts and helped us with everything we needed to know. They even gave us the most delicious sweet potatos! It's a shame we could not stay longer, we'll come back for sure!'

Other things to note

Please note that the length of the bed is 1.83 cm (if this is an issue please look at the other accommodation 1.90 cm, or, 'Daisy by the Beach 1.95 cm, or 'Caeiro's Tree By the Beach' advert, in the same property). The caravan is very comfortable, and will ensure your close contact with nature and the wild beauty of the sea and the cape.

We had a very nice stay in our little caravan! The caravans were located very beautifully in the fields, we could watch the ocean while having breakfast. And the nature surrounding the area is perfect for hikes too!

A truly magical place in the middle of the Portuguese nature. The caravan is lovely decorated and everything built up with so much Love for Details. You really learn how to live with less water or electricity but it doesnt disturb you for any Second. Go for a Walk in the Morning, do some Yoga in the fields, Drive to the other beaches (within a few minutes), cook a lovely Dinner and enjoy the sunsets, every Minute is truly worth it there. I think having a car is a bit more comfortable there, but you definitely dont have to have one. In the Town is a small market and some Good Cafés, you Walk Around 20 minutes to get there. We will come back! See you then Suze and Nuno and thanks a lot :)

We had a great and relaxing time around the caravan! We loved the view and the whole surroundings. The caravan has everything you need (little fridge, gas stove, all important kitchen equipment so you can cook for yourself) and there are various possibilities to relax around the caravan. You defenitely need to be a nature lover and get used to the compost toilet and outdoor shower. We took it as a great experience! We didn't go to any restaurants or beaches because we were just looking for a little hide-away for two days but Suze and Nuno will have great tips for you where to go. Suze and Nuno are great hosts! Sympathetic, open-minded and always responsive! We loved their way to live and their willingness to share their place with others! What we did was going down to the private beach and watching the sunset! An amazingly romantic spot! My boyfriend chose that spot to propose to me! An unforgettable moment and an unforgettable location! :)

Apart from being the most beautiful and tranquil place, we experienced an overload of hospitality and flexibility! We loved it so much, that we booked another two nights to extend our stay. If you want supreme sunsets and nature at it's best, don't hesitate to come here! Restaurants and beaches are within a short drive, but you can as well just hang around the caravan and enjoy all that you can hardly find anywhere else. Thank you so much, Nuno and Suze!!!!

After 17 years of living in England where I started my PhD and worked as a University tutor, I decided to return to my native country Portugal. I build my own house on Cabo Espichel (Sesimbra) on a piece of land bordering the Atlantic Ocean and where I used to spent my holiday…
