A light, spacious high-ceilinged romantic Edwardian balcony apartment 3 mins walk from city centre & less to the beach. Selected 2021 as one of Brighton’s Top 5 Coolest Airbnbs by Elle magazine. The open-plan kitchen living area has exposed brickwork. The wooden-floored living room with table & chairs has 2 sets of double doors to a beautiful decorative balcony. The large en suite bathroom has a roll-top bath, shower & underfloor heating. Last month we celebrated our 4th engagement at the flat.

The space
This regency balcony flat has been lovingly refurbished. The open-plan living room has a beautiful wooden floor with sumptuous regency coving (restored by the craftsman who worked on the Harry Potter movie sets) & a chandelier we love.

There is a table seating four (it can open up for six), a comfy & stylish leather sofa & a flat-screen TV (that switches on at the bottom please note.). The WiFi throughout the flat is very fast.

Two double wooden doors open out onto the large balcony with its table and chairs to sit at and watch the Brighton world go by.

The modern kitchen, with an exposed feature wall, has a washing machine, microwave & dishwasher.

The large bathroom has underfloor heating, a beautiful roll top bath (with overhead shower) more ornate coving and an exquisite exposed brick feature wall and designer sink with a slate floor.

The carpeted bedroom has a large wardrobe plus a new hotel quality mattress. Check out the upcycled bedside tables made from old post boxes. We know you will love them.

The flat is always warm & you are less than 200m to the sea while it is a 3 min walk or so into the centre of the city. Waitrose supermarket is at the top of the street & a host of great restaurants are easily walkable such as the Gingerman and The Ivy. Our favourite Brighton pub, The lion & lobster, meanwhile is around the corner. Check out its amazing open air top floor.

The pier is just a just short stroll along the bustling seafront. Likewise Churchill Square for the mainstream city shopping outlets & the Lanes for their quirky independent shops are a few minutes walk from your doorstep.

It’s proved such an idyllic setting we’re proud & delighted to say, so far, four couples have got engaged here during weekend breaks

Where you’ll be

Brighton, East Sussex, United Kingdom

Brighton is unique. Wear what you like, say what you like - we live and let live here on the south coast and are not surprised by much. Just ask Disco Pete, the old guy approximately a million years old who turns up at any outdoor gig in the city come rain or shine and dances silently and joyfully by himself. I always think he embodies how Brighton people feel about their city - if you're happy & not hurting anyone - go for it!

The house itself is on Sillwood Road a minute or so from the sea.

There are some fantastic restaurants within easy walking distance including The Set on Regency Square and The Gingerman just off Norfolk Square. During the Covid situation they’ve al implemented social distancing so it’s best to book ahead as spaces are more limited.

The new i360 viewing pod is a couple of minutes away & the pier is around a 15 minwalk. The famous Laines for the great independent shops are even closer.

Waitrose is at the top of the street and the main shopping centre in Brighton, Churchill Square is right at the top of the street - a 5 min a walk away along Weatern Road.

I am an author of comic novels & a freelance journalist for among other newspapers, The Telegraph & The Guardian. I live in Brighton & Hove with my wife, Dinah, & our two children. We love living in Brighton but also travelling & I do this a lot with my family for book research & for articles I write. Other things: I love cheese, being an airbnb host & beating my children at card games and Boggle.
