Butterfly Meadow yurt offers a unique and luxurious wilderness camping experience....set in the lee of The Black Hill in Herefordshire, it is a beautiful, romantic hideaway just for two.

*Please note that the yurt is fully heated and lined for the winter.

The space
Our yurt has been designed as a unique and peaceful romantic retreat for two. It is fully heated for winter by the addition of a cosy felt liner and an efficient log burning stove, plus an additional electric heater as well as plenty of cosy blankets and fluffy throws if required! There is hot running water and a double ended bath inside the yurt space with an array of beautiful organic bathing products freely available for your use. The yurt is set on its own spacious decking at the top of our wild flower meadow and orchard that backs onto ancient woodland and the Black Hill. It is a totally private and restful space perfect for romance, writing, painting or just a little rest and rejuvenation! Fresh flowers are part of your package in the summer and your stay comes with two baskets of logs and kindling. Should you require more logs, we have nets for sale from our yard and an Honesty Box. All guests will receive a locally made cake, tea, coffee, sugar and milk as well as organic bath products. Complementary luxury chocolates will be hiding in your fridge for you to find and in the colder months, hot water bottles will be warming your bed and a fire lit ready for your arrival.

The surrounding area of the Black Mountains is perfect for walking, riding, cycling. Canoeing, Kayaking and many other outdoor activities are available at nearby Hay on Wye and Ross on Wye. Fishing is available in the local village of Longtown and day passes can be purchased at Hopes, the local shop.

The talented guys at Wild By Nature ( Lower House Farm, Longtown) will cook a beautiful Sunday lunch for you and are within walking distance ( check with them your dates are available and book before coming) The walk will be about half an hour at a guess ( 5 mins in car) and the lunch consists of home-grown meat and veg, roasted in their outdoor clay oven and served in a gorgeous old barn! A very fine Sunday roast experience! Fantastic vegetarian and gluten free options also available as well as delicious desserts. Wild by Nature also offer monthly dinner gatherings or wood-fired pizza nights through the winter.

Plenty of other good, local eating pubs nearby including the award winning Bridge Inn at Michaelchurch and also a number of top end restaurants in Abergavenny, a 25 minute drive away. Live music, fabulous food, films and numerous fantastic bookshops are to be found in the quaint market town of Hay on Wye ( A stunning 25 minute drive across the mountains). We particularly recommend The Old Electric Shop for brekkie, brunch or lunch - their cakes are simply amazing! And the fun and lively Tomatitoes Tapas bar for a lovely, home-cooked tapas supper!

Where you’ll be

Longtown, United Kingdom

The setting is remote and peaceful..with the exception of the sounds of surrounding wildlife. Little Black Hill is an exceptionally unspoiled and beautifully balanced nature reserve and we ask that help us to keep it so, by clearing up any rubbish and by using only the free organic bathing and cleaning products provided.
