My peaceful home is situated in the southern part of Canberra with beautiful vistas of the mountains and gorgeous bush walks very close by. Public transport is a minutes walk away where you can explore Canberra city as well! Only twenty minutes by car from the Canberra City Centre, five minutes from Tuggeranong and Woden. Only one and a half hours from Threbo Ski Fields! Of the 5, two would have to share a double bed.
Wake up to a lovely quiet, light filled home in the south side of Canberra. There is central heating for those chilly winter days and air conditioning for our hot summers. I have two rooms available - one with a king single, wardrobe, desk and chair. The other has a double sofa bed with a futon mattress. I also have two single foam mattress that can be set up, one in each room. All beds have comfortable down doonas and pillows, soft bamboo sheets for summer and cosy flannelette sheets for winter, and plenty of hot water bottles. Shared bathroom and toilet, a modern kitchen and laundry for your convenience, a very comfortable living room, front and back pergola where you can sit and enjoy the gardens.
I am happy to share my knowledge of the best things to do here in Canberra including art galleries, gardens, bush walks, restaurants, markets, venues and bands. The house is close to public transport, a large shopping centre with a variety of restaurants, recreation club and gym centre and another smaller one with a supermarket and an excellent, brand new Thai Restaurant, all within walking distance. The residence has plenty of off street parking with a lovely outlook onto a large bush garden.
The property is also within walking distance of two nature reserves with lots of walking tracks and fantastic views of the city and the mountains. With a bit of luck you will encounter our local wedgetail eagle family as well as many other local flora and fauna. Namadgi and Tidbinbilla National Parks as well as the Canberra Deep Space Station are also within 20 minutes drive from here. We are 10 minutes drive from Woden and Tuggeranong shopping centres and 20 minutes from the city, and only one and a half hours to the Thredbo Snowfields!
Guests will have access to the whole house most days. I teach music from home Monday to Wednesday from early afternoon to early evening, so use of the kitchen and living rooms are limited during those times. No probs with walking through the teaching area however. I also have two pushbikes available for you to have some fun to explore the area, have a relaxing ride down by Tuggeranong Lake, or go shopping .
Interaction with guests
I love chatting with my guests about their travel experiences and other interesting topics. I am very happy to advise on what to see and where to go in our amazing city. I am home during the morning to early afternoon.
Other things to note
Two push bikes available for guests - great cycling tracks throughout Canberra.
I am happy to pick up or drop off guests from the airport, bus station in town, or train in Kingston for a minimal fee.
I invite and welcome travellers from all over the world, and professional people who are in Canberra for temporary work.
Rules are to be neat and tidy, respectful of property and quiet ambience of the house, no visitors or overnight guests unless pre-arranged, clean up after self.
I am a happy, easy going traveller who loves meeting travellers from overseas. I enjoy a busy working life teaching, studying, playing music and studying personal development. I love books, movies, bush walking, local flora and fauna, gardening, dancing, yoga, good food and healthy living.
Canberra has heaps to see, do, hear and experience. We have fantastic art galleries, museums, music, festivals, theatres, restaurants, shopping, bush walks and some of the most beautiful scenery around.
