CORONA VIRUS UPDATE: Guests arriving from overseas should follow NZ Department of Health guidelines issued at Auckland International Airport upon your arrival and self-isolate.
Self-isolation means staying in your room as much as possible and not interacting too much with other guests.
It is safe for you to go into the garden or outside deck. It is ok to go for walks to parks and other nature attractions. It is ok to visit a store to pick up groceries for yourself.
You should avoid situations that could facilitate the transmission of the virus such as social gatherings and events where you come into contact with others; in particular child care/pre-school centres, primary and secondary schools (including staff and students), aged care, health care facilities, prisons, public gatherings.
You should not share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, towels, pillows or other items with others living here. After using these items, you should wash them thoroughly with soap and water, place them in the dishwasher for cleaning or wash them in our washing machine.
Practising good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against most viruses. You should:
• wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet
• cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and wash your hands
• avoid contact with others (stay more than 1.5 meters from people).

Vulnerable people, like those over the age of 70 with chronic disease, should cancel their booking stay somewhere else.
The following suggestions are offered to help pass the time:
• Keep in touch with family members and friends via telephone, email or social media.
• Learn about coronavirus and talk with others.
• Where possible, keep up normal daily routines, such as eating and exercise.
• Arrange to work from home.
• Do things that help you relax and use isolation as an opportunity to do activities you don’t usually have time for.

Other things to note
In the last three months, we have witnessed unprecedented events brought upon by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Our hearts are with those who have been affected by this global crisis. We remain vigilant and steadfast in our commitment to provide every guest with the highest standard of safety and hygiene. We want to assure you that in the face of adversity, your health and safety remain, as always, our top priority.

While we await your arrival with open doors, we are equally mindful that this might not be the best time for travel. Therefore, we want to provide you with more travel flexibilities when you consider a plan change. Below is an update on the measures we have in place to meet your needs.

We want to make your experience as worry-free and healthy as possible. We have strengthened protective measures which include frequent disinfection of all high-touch areas, encouraging guests to complete a declaration form regarding their recent travel details, sterilization of all crockery, glassware and cutlery using high temperature water, placing additional hand sanitizers in bathrooms, and executing additional cleaning protocols in all rooms prior to and after each guest’s stay.

On a daily basis, guests are reminded to observe good hygiene practices to reduce the risk of possible transmission of the virus. These preventive actions include washing hands thoroughly with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, staying home if feeling unwell, and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

Based on the expert advice of the World Health Organization, local governments, public health authorities and medical professionals, we will continue to implement stringent measures against the spread of COVID-19.

In our ongoing commitment to care for our guests, we will continue to closely monitor the rapidly developing events. We are in this together, and we wish for everyone to stay safe and healthy. Your support is always deeply appreciated and when you are ready to return, we will be here to welcome you back. Keep well and stay strong.

Location

Auckland, New Zealand

Onehunga beach, Pah homestead cafe, Onehunga village, One Tree Hill and Cornwall parks all close by. Royal oak shopping mall is walking distance. Easy to get to the CBD.
The property is conveniently located between the city and the airport, among some of Onehunga's finer old homes
Onehunga is a suburb of Auckland City in New Zealand and the location of the Port of Onehunga, the city's small port on the Manukau Harbour. It is eight kilometres south of the city centre, close to the volcanic cone of Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill.
Onehunga stretches south from Royal Oak to the north shore of the Manukau Harbour. To the east are the areas of Orangaand Te Papapa; to the west, Hillsborough. On the southern shore of the Manukau Harbour, and linked to Onehunga by two bridges, is the suburb of Mangere Bridge.
While everyone is combing Queen Street for the latest and the greatest, the real Aucklanders have headed out to Onehunga to shop at the many outlet shops at Onehunga's Dress Mart Mall.
For committed foreshore walkers, on the low tide route, the distance between Blockhouse Bay and Onehunga is 9km and can be done in about four and a half hours.
You need to be self sufficient with gear and supplies - boots, warm clothing, wet weather gear, food and water.
Cafés are available at both ends.
There are numerous exits along the way if you change your mind.
Waikowhai (kowhai by the water) boasts the largest block of native forest left in Auckland city. Originally part of a grant to the Wesley Mission, the land was considered too infertile for farming, so was not cleared. The area was once extremely popular as a holiday spot. Large crowds flocked to the beach to camp, swim, boat and eat their fill of strawberries and cream - bought from the little tea kiosk Today, the forest hosts a valuable sample of Auckland’s original fauna and flora. In spring, the whole valley is ablaze with yellow flowering kowhai, and it is worth a visit to enjoy the antics of numerous tui, rosellas and the occasional kingfisher.

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, we have lived in India four years and then four years in Christchurch NZ, before moving to Auckland mid 2015. Kathy operates a vibrant classical and contemporary dance school in Auckland and David is an engineering firm manager. We love to travel and have had great experiences staying in Africa, America, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Europe, South America, Turkey, Israel, Dubai, Vienna, Slovakia, France, Holland, Germany, the UK,and now New Zealand. Enjoy meeting different people, from different cultures, from around the world and welcome them to our beautiful New Zealand. Been Air BnB guests and love being part of the Airbnb experience, and have formed some friendships with guests which have continued on after they left. We started our Airbnb when we moved to New Zealand in 2011. The restaurants and cafes in Auckland are some of the best in the world. Our place is close to all the everyday things our guests would need during their stay; from cafes, restaurants and supermarkets, to shops, and nightlife - yet generally very quiet. We hold conservative Christian values.
