What’s not to love about this place? Not only was everything perfectly clean and the whole place amazing, I found Clifford to be super nice and helpful with whatever we needed. At times we didn’t even realize he was there which was quite nice considering we were guest in his hous…

Clifford’s place is only 3 mins away from subway. The neighborhood is very quite. My friend and I had wonderful experiences to stay there. We will definitely recommend this lovely place to our friends.

Location is great. We didn’t have to contact Clifford because everything was pretty well communicated since the beginning.

They stay was good. However, I will say that the lockbox was quite a pain to get the keys from. We were outside in the cold/snow trying to fiddle with the lockbox in order to get the keys. In terms of the room- the bed was comfortable and the room was clean, but I was expecting p…

Response from Clifford:
The lockbox was getting old, but after Jessica's stay I have now replaced the lockbox and it is easier to open. There are many extra pillows in-case guests want to use more than two. There are also lots of extra pillowcases available in the linen closet which guests are free to use if they want to use the extra pillows.

Great communication, accommodating and had the place to ourselves pretty much the whole time. Great location although the Q train can be slow/unreliable. Super comfy bed/pillows/sheets that we’ll miss. Overall I’d definitely come back and for an entire week+ stay you couldn’t bea…

Response from Clifford:
According to buzzfeed news, the Q train is the highest ranked train line in the entire NYC subway system due to it's reliability, it's cleanliness, and the convenience of the places it goes. It may have been having an off-day when Robert stayed. (Website hidden by Airbnb)

I would recommend being very cautious about using this place. It is not very clean, and although Clifford seems nice enough, he actually doesn't do anything to make your stay comfortable. The house is dirty, the bed was not made, there were not enough blankets or towels, the garb…

Response from Clifford:
I’m sad that Sue gave me this review, because it isn’t accurate. Three weeks prior to her stay, Sue sent me a message asking why I hadn’t yet sent her an itinerary of things to do in NYC. After receiving that message, I gave her a call and provided some suggestions. During Sue’s stay I helped her to plan her subway routes to get where she wanted to go. I also provided restaurant suggestions. I have two commercially produced guide books for guests to use and also have a home-made pamphlet of things in the neighborhood. When I am available I provide suggestions, and help to guests. However, because I have a full-time job, guests should not expect that my services include planning of daily activities. I provided Sue with two towels. More towels were available in the hallway closet. Sue did not ask me for additional towels. I showed Sue how to turn the heat on (I also have instructions posted above the radiator). I gave her extra blankets and also offered to give her even more blankets (she took the extra blankets the first time, but refused them when I offered to give her even more). Once the radiator was set to Sue’s desired level, the temperature in the apartment seemed very hot to me (it was at least 75 degrees), therefore her warmth needs must be greater than the vast majority of people. I allowed Sue to check-in early while I was at work. When she arrived the bed was bare and there were clean sheets next to it. I made the bed for her when I got home from work before she needed to use it. While I have two reading lights, a floor lamp, and an overhead lamp in the bedroom, I moved another light into the room for her at her request. She did not request additional lights at that point, but if she had, I could have provided more lamps. What Sue is referring to as trash piled up in the kitchen is simply the partially full recycling bin (which is adjacent to the foot-pedal operated trash can). Sue must not have realized that this was a recycling bin because she threw trash into the recycling bin instead of utilizing the kitchen trash can. There were two boards leaning against the end of the hallway (did not obstruct passage through the hallway). These have now been removed. I do not provide coffee or tea for guests (there is a coffee maker for guests to use). If asked I would have given Sue some of my personal tea or some of the instant coffee that was left by a previous guest, but I was not asked. I did offer Sue juice, beer and liquor. The key is less than a one-minute walk from the apartment. I wish that Sue would have had a better experience and wish her the best.

I travel for work...but since I'm running a start-up company I like to travel really cheaply. I host a room in my place in Brooklyn. I also help my parents manage their beach house listing in Michigan.
