Pure tranquility is yours on Dragonfly Farm! Get away from it all in your own cottage, centrally located, yet extremely private, with garden, greenhouse, chickens, orchard and pond to paddle around. Charming decor with leather sofa, high ceilings, fine linens, cozy propane heating stove, and tasteful furnishings. We have included every amenity we could think of to enhance your stay. We are new to Airbnb, but have over 60 five star reviews from previous guests.

The space

Go back in time on our quintessential island farm: sweet accommodations, garden at your doorstep, pond with kayaks and canoe, and complete privacy. The cottage has all amenities in a pastoral setting; the perfect secluded hub for your island adventures, equally well-suited for a family vacation or romantic get-away. Tucked away in a valley below our main house, it is adjacent to our garden with produce for your table. Feel free to stroll to the bluff for views of West Sound, or take the canoe and kayaks for a spin. Fall asleep to the lullaby frog chorus. With the pond and plethora of beautiful vegetation, our 25 acre farm has become a bird sanctuary, with hundreds of species throughout the seasons. This one bedroom plus loft apartment is well-appointed with quality furnishings. Queen bed in the bedroom and two twins in the loft above (accessible by ladder). Full kitchen, propane barbeque, flatscreen and DVD player for entertainment (lots of DVD's included), wireless internet connection, and warmth from the cozy propane heating stove. We supply locally roasted coffee and tea, spices, paper products, and fully equipped kitchen. AND our 25 acre farm adjoins Turtleback Mountain Preserve! This island treasure has amazing hikes which vary from old forested areas to phenomenal vistas of neighboring islands and beyond. We are located just five miles from the ferry, five miles from the main village of Eastsound, and a mere one and a half miles from the waters at West Sound.

Guest access

The entire farm is yours for exploring and the cottage is completely self contained for your use. You're welcome to eggs from the chickens and any produce that might be in season. The only private area is the knoll above where our home is located out of site; the driveway is clearly marked.

Interaction with guests

We try to be sure our guests have all the privacy and seclusion they desire, yet we are available to answer questions, address concerns, or add to any supplies you need. Just give us a quick call, text or e-mail and we'll take care of it.

We traveled to Orcas Island with my parents and enjoyed our stay at Dragonfly farm. It is a quiet and pretty property. The cottage was cozy and nice with a sound system, books, a few games, etc. The second bedroom, the loft, is up a ladder which was ok for us, but might not work for everyone. I would definitely go back with just my husband and dog - it is an excellent retreat.

Visited Orcas Island for the first time and stayed at Susan's place. It is beyond charming! Well appointed, clean, easily accessible to the island's main commercial center, quiet, lovely...I could go on. It was perfectly cozy and and we were sad to leave after our stay. It's a wonderful place on an equally wonderful island.

We really loved this place. Cottage-in-a-Barn at Dragonfly Farm is tucked away into Turtleback mountain, far from the sounds of cars, but close enough into town [Eastsound] just a short jot away. It is a magical place with a large covered veranda and comfy chairs for late night conversations and restful mornings with coffee. The great room has a gas fireplace and is stocked with card and board games and books for lounging. The beds were comfortable (including the sofa bed-- we had a family of 5) with fine sheets and down comforters and quilts. The cottage is meticulously handcrafted with attention to detail (double hung windows). The kitchen is well stocked with plates and whatever you may need, and there were lots of extra blankets and pillows and sheets. The Farm is lovely for a walk to say hello to the chickens, to enjoy some sunshine by the greenhouse, and for the Dragonflies! The pond has kayaks and a canoe for guests to enjoy. We never met our hosts, but their absence was not missed as we did not go lacking for anything. It felt like we were the only ones on the mountain-- truly an escape-- a retreat into heaven.
