John is a lovely and accommodating host. The room is spare in a thoughtful way and though the house is small, I was quite comfortable. The pets are sweet and he keeps them clear of the room. Somehow, when booking, I got the idea a garden was involved, which at the time of this writing is not true. However, the very reasonable cost, combined with the ease of travel to Berkeley Emeryville and Oakland and the fact that I was able to easily find parking makes this a classic reason Air BandB has become a thing.

Response from John:
Alison is absolutely correct to note that the garden has become a construction materials and waste storage zone. It's a disaster, but hopefully temporary. And I want to say that it was not like this six months ago. I apologize for the outdated information in my listing.

John has a nice place. He's a friendly host who's willing to give you recommendations about the area. The place is nice and about 25-30 minutes from SF during peak traffic. The area is safe. The dogs are really cute. Overall, good experience (comfortable bed, clean bathroom). Would recommend

Response from John:
I am grateful for this great review, but I have to point one slight inaccuracy... My house is 25-30 minutes from San Francisco with LITTLE traffic; by public transit or in traffic it takes about one hour to get to San Francisco from my house.

John's casa was about a 12 minute walk to the BART station in a very chill neighborhood. There's plenty of places to eat in the area and with the close proximity to BART, John's place is a great value. If you don't mind pets this is a great place to stay and I will certainly stay again should it be available on my next visit.

Response from John:
This is a great review; Thanks a lot, Devin! I should note that 12 minutes to BART is pretty fast; I usually allow 15-20 minutes to walk from my house to the station.

John's place is definitely a perfect hideaway to stay. The location is close to BART and easy to visit UC Berkeley as well. His animals(three dogs, one cat, one chicken) are super sweet, quiet, and adorable. The room is definitely clean, animal-proof and équiped with anything you need(I was surprised there's a hair dryer too.) I'm very glad to choose staying with John while attending a conference at SF downtown. John makes everything so easy and comfortable staying in the house. Everyone would love this 5star choice!
