We stayed in Blue room, which was spacious, true to its "BLUE" color theme. Rameshwarji was very helpful. Private pool looked awesome, although we couldn't enjoy it considering my husband wanted to soak in sea water . One suggestion is if a bigger name plate can be installed then it will be helpful for people to locate the place. There are too many lanes and every street has a name. We kind of got lost while searching the place. Once inside, the place is serene and green as you will expect.

Mantra was nothing less than a paradise. The bungalow has a lot of rooms, however my personal favorite was the Lotus room - it had a small patio with a stunning view. The house is perfect if you are looking for a cosy home-stay and not something too commercial. Kakoli has a keen eye for antiques and has furnished the place with an elegant touch. The housekeeping staff is extremely helpful and so was the caretaker Rameshwar. It is an absolute safe place for single female travelers. The rooms have a booklet with intricate details of the must visit places, maps and travel services that can be availed just by a phone call.

Its a picturesque cottage tucked in between buildings, in a residential colony. You almost step into a different era the moment you walk in the gates. Its a beautiful cottage and very tastefully done up, keeping in mind all possible comforts for the guest.. The pool is the best attraction of the stay and is definitely one of the most beautiful pools I have ever seen. Kakoli is in constant communication and ensures you know the best way to reach the place, good places to eat nearby, places to visit, etc. It is really heartening to see the attention she pays to all her guests to ensure their visit is comfortable. We would surely like to come back for a dip in the pool :).

Mantra is one of the places that one must choose when you go to cities like Pondicherry. Slightly away ( a km) from the hustle-bustle of tourists gathering spots, close to the beach, set amongst the short lanes of fisherman colony, this place has a unique homely feeling.. The room is spacious, cleanliness well maintained, greenery in the vicinity and the beautiful infinity pool. A place you can come back and feel at home and rest well. I recommend everyone who resonates my idea of travel to pondi :)

Pics don't do justice to the beauty of Mantra. I think I could sense Kakoli's design instinct in everything at Mantra. Extremely calm, green, and well maintained, Mantra deserves more time to experience it fully. I totally lacked time having just 26 hours in Pondicherry, but for sure next time, I would like to stay for a minimum of a week. From The Who records to books on Pondicherry's architecture, this house has something for everyone. Also, if you ever visit Mantra, do not miss the pool. Last, I think Rameshwar ji deserves a special mention for being extremely helpful and accommodating. Only thing that bothered me was the location. Not that its far off from the city center, but that its difficult to locate for Autos and Olas. Maybe if I had taken a private scooter on rent, this would have been sorted :) But, for sure, will recommend this to everyone! Pro-tip: Autos will charge bomb from the bus-stand (INR 200) for just a 4 km ride. Make sure you negotiate or call Rameshwar ji who can connect you with Raghu.

Thanks for your warm and wonderful review Deepak. We have noted your information about auto fares from the bus stand and will inform guests in future that Autos should charge Rs.75/--Rs.100/- for that distance. We look forward to having you back. Yes...most of our guests at MANTRA hire self-drive scooters or bicycles which we can help with.

We had a nice two night stay in Kakoli's beautiful Mantra property. The property in itself is very beautiful and well-maintained. The rooms are cozy and nicely done up. The garden area is perfect for a lazy afternoon coffee and book session. The pool area is great and very aesthetically maintained. Nothing to fault here. The only drawback was the neighbourhood, this property is situated in. The drive/walk up to the property from the main road is very undesirable - you don't want to deal with it on a holiday. Avoid the breakfast - there are plenty of great breakfast places in Pondicherry giving you better value for money.

Hi Pallav, thank you for your valuable feedback, specially regarding breakfast. We provide toast with buttr and jam, eggs, muesli with milk and bananas and tea and coffee for breakfast at MANTRA. Based on your feedback we have rolled the price back to Rs.200/- per head. Regarding the location, Vaithikuppam is an urban village very much within Pondicherry municipality area. We hardly have any power cuts here and the municipality collects garbage and keeps the roads clean. There are no open drains. This area is just a few minutes from the Promenade and the Aurobindo ashram and many educated locals live in this area in high rise buildings along with local fishermen in small houses. This is what makes this place so interesting and vibrant. But I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea hence am grateful that reviews like yours highlight this issue which then helps others make an informed decision. So thank you once again. Details about this area is in our website related to MANTRA Pondicherry, for those who wish to know more.

I travelled to Pondicherry on work and spent a blissful day in the LOTUS ROOM at MANTRA. It is an oasis of greenery in the middle of a quaint urban village, just a few minutes’ walk from the main attractions. I found it extremely safe as a single woman traveller. Rameshwarji was very helpful with calling autos whenever I needed. The rooms are very clean and exactly as shown. The approach to MANTRA is through the concrete pathways of the area which has many small houses, temples and new apartment blocks, and my cab reached the house easily because I had a map. This area of the town has its own charm and since I speak Tamil, I can relate to the locals. After one enters the gates of MANTRA, the outside world ceases to matter. The pool is beautiful and relaxing. I will certainly return for a long vacation soon.
