The "Treehouse" is a cozy hideaway on the 3rd floor of a 10-room house built in 1903. The room looks out into trees and over a garden. A bath shared with other long-term tenants and guests is on the 2nd floor; a half bath is on the 1st. (Baths are shared by all other guests in the house.) A ceiling fan cools the room on hot days.

The space

An oasis in the city. The house with side porch is on a shaded double lot. The third floor room is quiet, private, cozy.

Guest access

Bedroom, 1 1/2 baths, kitchen, dining room.

Interaction with guests

I enjoy helping guests get oriented to the neighborhood, city, state. If you need help getting to and from the bus or airport, let me know. I'm usually available at 9:00am to prepare a vegetarian breakfast.

Other things to note

The house does not have air conditioning. We cool with fans.
Don't let out Smokey the cat.

Karen is an amazingly warm host, and her house was very welcoming indeed. Very clean and organised, peaceful, quite close to RIPTA bus stop and Karen is very friendly and sweet. I would definitely recommend her place to stay over in Providence because it was a great experience for me :)

Really great place to stay if you're looking to visit Providence! The house is beautiful and the room is cozy and comfortable. Karen is a wonderful host who is very knowledgeable about the area and serves up a great breakfast in the morning. Her place is located in a lively and diverse neighborhood with easy access to public transportation, and is within walking distance of the Roger Williams Park. To top it off, Smokey is one of the friendliest cats you'll ever meet :) Highly recommended!

Karen was a very nice and excellent host while I was there for the month. The house is clean and the room is exactly as stated. Parking was very easy for multiple cars, as there is a large driveway. I felt very comfortable the whole time and had some great conversations with her. The house cat is super friendly and playful as well!

My stay here was enjoyable and easy for my extended stay while I finished up school at JWU. It was reasonably close to down city so I could ride my bike. Also very easy to jump on 95 if your going on a day trip. In addition, Karen's house is very secure and she even allowed me to lock my kayak and bike inside the garage to keep it safe. I was broken into on federal hill my sophomore year so security is always important to me especially in providence. Karen was very welcoming and hospitable and made the stay very enjoyable. The only thing is other guests do stay in the house and for the most part every long/short term guest was a pleasure to meet and live with. I find it interesting where others have been or where they are going. However one long term guest was very hard to live with that it came to a point I tried to avoid her. She stole some of my food, poor personable space, very poor sense of hygiene, and would leave the front door open unknowingly many many times. This guest did not seam mentally or physically capable of living in airbnb and I think there should be further back round check's to prevent difficulties between the guest and other guests, and owner and guest. Karen, the location, and the house were wonderful.

Response from Karen:
You make a good point. Hosts rely on the reviews of other hosts to determine if a person is a suitable guest. Unfortunately for us, her previous hosts were too kind. As you know, once I realized that she was a poor fit in the house, I asked her to find another place to stay. Sorry that you had to deal with such a difficult situation.

I enjoy making people feel comfortable in my home. I also enjoy traveling. A trip in 2015 to Iceland for 12 days was a marvel with continuous opportunities for taking pictures. Staying at guesthouses with shared kitchens was a great way to meet other travelers. Peru was the des…
