Seahorse Cottage is a cheerful, light-filled, immaculately clean cottage that you will love to call your home away from home. Ideally located in downtown Seward: 1 block from the bay and waterfront playground, 1/2 block from library, 1.5 blocks from post office, and 3 blocks from the Alaska SeaLife Center. Fantastic views of Resurrection Bay. Watch the sun come up over Mt. Alice while you enjoy your cup of coffee from the back deck, and catch the sun's last rays from the living room couch.

The space

Well equipped, cozy cottage. We have everything you need to feel right at home, whether it's for one night or a couple of weeks. 2 bedrooms- queen bed in one, and twin bunk beds in the other. The living room couch is a high-quality futon that is quite comfortable (!). Sleeps six. Fully stocked kitchen (including crock-pot, vita-mix blender, bread machine, & waffle maker) with a large fridge and freezer for fish you catch. Front-loading washer and dryer. On-demand hot water (a wonderful thing!). More books than you'd be able to read in a year. Smart TV with DVD player. Wifi. Board games and puzzles. Linens and extras. Basic toiletries. Hairdryer. Patio furniture, fire pit, even raspberries available to pick in August. If you have small children, let us know in advance, and we will stock the second bedroom with some toys for them. If you have any special requests during your stay, let us know, and we will do our best to fill them!

Guest access

Whole house (excluding basement), front and back yards (excluding back shed).

Interaction with guests

We love to meet our guests, but also know that some prefer their privacy. We have electronic locks on our doors, so no need to pick up a key. Access codes will be provided 2 weeks prior to your stay. If you have time during your stay, join us at the Sea Bean cafe (225 4th Ave) for a complimentary wine and social hour nightly from 5-6 p.m.

Perfect home with a beautiful view. Just down the street from the ocean where we viewed sea lions and a sea otter right from the shore.

The house is not all a bed of roses as it's described. On first attempts the door code procedures did not work. The posting advertises along the lines of clean and immaculate. It was not clean and immaculate to list a few things: The needed kitchen dishes and cookware required cleaning prior to using them as there was visible food and coffee on the stored kitchen wares. When we were ready to use the stove/oven to cook dinner, it was not working. We had to wait for the host to arrive to turn the propane on which was inconvenient because we did not eat until 8:45 pm when we should have been eating around 7:30 pm. The futon is described as comfortable; however, it is as hard as rock. The location of the house is not far from town, Mt. Marathon and the bay, which is convenient. Was able to book a room for one night, while a majority of places require a two nights stay. One nights are perfect for those who cannot take time of work but have a a weekend night to get away. It was not worth $104 per person a night.

Meredith's place was great! Only a block from downtown and the views off the deck were stunning! Would recommend to anyone coming to Seward.

Meredith has a gorgeous place! We fell in love with a seating area in the dining room that faced the ocean! The kitchen was well stocked with spices, oils, pots, pans and utensils. All the appliances were in good working condition, washer dryer, refrigerator, toaster oven and a microwave. The bedrooms were super comfortable with extra pillows and blankets, the bedrooms had thick blinds that prevented the lights which is a good plus point! The location of the house is also wonderful! Just a few steps away from the ocean and very close to the downtown, harbor, Safeway etc. overall we really enjoyed our stay at Meredith and highly recommend it for families :)

Beautiful place with nice wood floors, large kitchen/dining area, and a nice view from that dining area. Very cozy, very comfortable ... walking distance [bring rain gear and/or an umbrella] to the cute little Seward downtown area with some great restaurants. Be sure to check out the Sea Bean Cafe for breakfast/lunch and The Cookery for dinner. Great hosts!

I love the idea of globe-trotting and love living vicariously through our guests that pass through our lodge on their way to their next adventure. My husband and I run The Sea Bean, a coffee shop right below our apartments, in addition to Sauerdough Lodging, and we have two litt…
