The Little Dipper has a great view of the stars right on Highway 118. your room is private but the other space is shared. The Little Dipper has a queen bed, dresser, table. Most of the space is outdoor so dust kinda can't be helped. Common area's are the outdoor bar/kitchen, toilet & shower, bbq & campfire. Please don't put bottle & cans in the campfire, there is a trash for that. We don't have many trees so bring some firewood. Please respect others privacy.

The space

The Little Dipper has 1 queen bed with dresser & table. There is an outdoor toilet & shower as well as an outdoor kitchen/bar . There are small trails on the property and a few campfire spots.

Guest access

The only parts that are 'off limits' to guests are the main house & the storage buildings. I live in the house.

Interaction with guests

I live on the property so I am sometimes available.

Other things to note

Just about 70 miles South of Alpine between Gate 6 (which is on the West side of Highway 118) & Gate 4 (East side of Highway 118). A land mark is the canoes sticking out of the rocks (left hand side of road). The driveway is just South of the canoes.

Please treat the place with respect. There is an outdoor area for smoking. West Texas offers plenty of great views and things to do which also comes with it's own dangers including (but not limited to) cactus, rocks & rattlesnakes. Have fun, stay safe.

Had the most amazing time I've ever had with Jeff and his friends. One of my best experiences traveling. The location is perfect for big bend national park right down the same road! Restaurants and shops are close by. You will not be disappointed! Exactly the adventure I was looking for!

We had a nice stay at Jeff's casita. Jeff is a genuinely welcoming person, and we were glad to meet him. He has two young cats that are loads of entertainment and good company as well. The second night that we were there, Jeff had several friends over and they all seemed nice. They stayed up later than us but the ac in the room effectively blocked out noise from outside so it was not a problem. The only issue that we had was that there were several scorpions inside the casita, and we are kind of wimpy about things with stingers.

My husband and I stayed at Jeff's during our trip to Big Bend. If you're doing the same, you couldn't ask for a better location. It was such an easy drive to the park, which is excellent after a long day of hiking. Jeff was awesome in regards to communication. We came in really late at night and ended up losing some cell service before we got to Alpine (70 miles north of Jeff's), so I was so grateful for his quick communication. Jeff is a very kind and hospitable host.

Jeff couldn't have been a better host! Very nice and a fun to hang around with. His place was excellent and I would highly recommend it.

Jeff is the perfect host and his property is eclecticly wonderful! The bed was comfy, bathroom/shower worked great and the outdoor kitchen was super charming. Jeff spent time getting to know us, shared his life with us in an openness that has become a rarity. He is a talented songwriter and an overall enlightened human being. It was an honour staying at Jeff's place and we recommend it as a necessity to anyone visiting the area! Can't wait to go back!

I highly recommend staying at Jeff's spot if you are ever visiting Big Bend! It is very scenic and quiet. Also, Jeff is a wonderful, kind host, and also a great musician! I am looking forward to my next stay here the next time I am in the area.

This property is amazing! Just 20 minutes outside the gates to the park and right outside Terlingua, great location. The little house is so comfortable with AC and a fan, we slept like babies. There are a couple adorable kittens to play with while you cool your food in the open air, the outdoor shower is a cool experience under the stars! Jeff is the best airbnb host I've ever stayed with, very friendly and open and great to talk to! (And a great musician to boot) definitely stay here in Terlingua!!

Jeff User ProfileJeff is a superhost.

I love living in the desert. It has become a place where you can find the time to 'get away' as far as you want to be. What Terlingua offers is unique because it has area to get away as well as possibly the busiest ghost town that you have ever scene. Since moving to Terlingua several years ago, I have been songwriting and I am involved with the international community building project called Voices From Both Sides project & it's yearly Fiesta Protesta. Come enjoy the desert in the Big Bend area of Texas. It is one of the last real 'getaways' in America so enjoy it while you can.
