The space
Honey Buzzard with private birdhouse bathroom cabin

Set high above the woodlands on a hill our cabin is perfectly formed to sleep 2 per in a large double bed.

The birdhouse design is a combination of clever design, tech and sustainable materials.

This means it's a wonderful compact and bijou cabin (hence, your beautiful large bathroom is next door).

Giving you a stylish accommodation experience where you can only access incredible, idyllic spots like these when you go off-grid.

Sustainable, eco, local craftsmanship

We’ve worked hard to create a comfortable, cosy, innovative retreat in this off-grid location.

You will enjoy sunrises and sunsets through a stunningly crafted window providing breathtaking views from the comfort of your new home.

The Birdhouse cabin design makes you feel part of the woodlands and wildlife.

We have installed a gas hob, hot and cold water, and a cool box so you can make that all-important brew (*please no cooking meals inside the birdhouse, the Captains Cabin is fully equipped for this). And no bbq’s due to the 200yr old woodland.

On those hot summers evening, enjoy relaxing on your private deck with a glass of wine listening to birdsong and the crystal-blue water crashing onto Blackpool Sands.

And on those chillier days, stay cosy with the glow of our biofuel fireplace.

The birdhouse bathroom:
We know how important it is to have a nice bathroom - each birdhouse has its own private bathroom right next door
with a hot shower and a high-tech off-grid loo (you won’t find a composting loo at wildcomfort).

Guest access
You will be staying on the stunning privately owned Blackpool Sands Estate.

As a guest, you have access to a private onsite car park, private decking, the Captains Cabin (communal kitchen) plus a walk through the stunning gardens to a secret garden door to access the beach (wildcomfort is as close as you can get to Blackpool Sands beach).

Set in a Victorian Planters garden, this space will be well marked for guests to find their way around the paths and access to the beach etc.

The gardens will have the estate owners and wildcomfort working onsite from time to time (pruning, etc) but great care is taken to not disturb guests.

(We ask guests to just stick to the wildcomfort paths only due to the special nature of this site and the wildlife).

Other things to note
Honey Buzzard + birdhouse bathroom sits alongside Little Owl + birdhouse bathroom, approx. 10m distance between them. They both sit on their own private decking and you have privacy on your decking while enjoying the views.

We're on a hill. The South Hams by nature is hilly, therefore some people may find our site a little challenging so please ask questions before booking and look at the photos.

The paths are maintained but they are mainly grass/wild grass with some bare soil areas where worn down and can get very slippery after rain or dew - please be careful and wear appropriate shoes.

Little owl is part of WILDCOMFORT, an off-grid site with an emphasis on comfort and enjoying the full experience for the Victorian woodland site.

This unique site is also home to The Lookout, which also has it's own private space further down in the woodland.

You will share the paths and Captains Cabin (communal kitchen) with these guests (max. 4. -6 other lovely guests).

It's also worth noting the drive into wildcomfort is a track, not a sealed road but again it is pretty well-maintained and short.

You cannot drive your car to the cabins, you must park below in the car park (free) and walk your bags up a very short hill. Wheelbarrow available as a' luggage trolley'.

My work: wild comfort
A Kiwi, who lived in London for 18yrs, married an Englishman, Tim. We love the stunning coastline of the South Hams, Devon and started wildcomfort, an off-grid glamping site bringing the comforts of home to usually inaccessible areas.
