Stable Cottage is a lovely conversion of the former stable at Seafield Farm. A modest 1830 exterior hides a spacious interior with 21st Century facilities. We have a wonderful rural setting at the head of Loch Sween surrounded by woodland and fields. Great walking with wildlife in abundance and beautiful scenery. The perfect destination for anyone with a love of the great outdoors.

The space

Seafield Farm has been in our family for over a hundred years and has been providing holidays for much of that time. We make our cottages as special as we can with lots of extras to make your holiday memorable. Stable Cottage is completely self contained. The cottage is self catering and fully equipped. We welcome visitors for stays of 4 days or more during the main season, 3 day breaks are available in low season. Our cottages are child free (but we do accept infants under 5), pet free and stress free! Peace and quiet guaranteed.

Guest access

We have 50 acres of land for you to explore on foot or by bike. It is a great place for wildlife and Loch Sween is a paradise for canoes and kayaks. The grounds around the cottages are a shared space as is the barbecue hut.

Interaction with guests

We are around if you need us or need advice about the area but will leave you in peace if you don't. You have complete privacy in your cottage. There is a barbecue hut in the grounds which is a communal space for us and our visitors. We are happy to chat and you are welcome to visit my basketmaking workshop which is on site.

Other things to note

Check in time is any time after 3.30 pm and Departure time is no later than 10.30 am.
We have designed our holiday accommodation to be as we would wish a self catering cottage to be. There will always be home baked cake to welcome you - let us know if you are vegan or gluten free. Free wi-fi is available. Heating is by log fired boiler (we tend the boiler, you enjoy the warmth) or by electric panel heaters during summer months. We have photo voltaic panels to provide some of our electricity. Mobile phone signal is not good in the immediate Achnamara area - Vodaphone is the only option for any service at all here. The cottage has a payphone and wifi so you will be able to communicate with the outside world if you really want to.
The cottages and immediate vicinity are no smoking please.

We both had a really wonderful holiday staying at Stable Cottage. Jane and James were great hosts, and had lots of interest to tell us about. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable, clean and warm. A great location we had lots to do without travelling too far. It was great to watch Jane making her willow baskets. We visited the Crinan Canal, went for a day visit to Jura on the Passenger Ferry and visited the Distillery there. Looked for beavers at Loch Collie - Bharr, didn't have an sightings that day but great views. Brian caught his first Sea Trout on Loch Sween.

We had a very relaxing week on Seafield Farm. The Stable was very well equipped, cosy and good value for money. We managed to fill up our week easily exploring the local area, finding we didn't need to venture far. Highly recommended, we hope to return.

Jane's place is a little slice of paradise, and Jane is a lovely, helpful person. We were very comfortable in her large and well-equipped cottage. The region has very much to explore and we had a great time.

Highly recommend Stable Cottage - beautiful area, and a really well-equipped and comfortable holiday home. Jane was really helpful, but also allowed us as much privacy and quiet as we wanted. Easy distance from amenities in Lochgilphead and a fantastic beach nearby. Would definitely return!

Very comfortable accommodation in a superb location. Magnificent countryside all around. We did lots of great walks and also took time out sometimes to sit and enjoy the view. James and Jane were great hosts and very helpful without being intrusive.

I spent a lovely week at Stable Cottage with my mum. Jane and James made us feel very welcome. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed walking from the cottage through the pretty woodland along the loch. It's a great base for exploring the surrounding area, which has a lot to offer. It's definitely somewhere we would like to return to.

Jane was a lovely host, and made every effort to ensure that we found the cottage safely, and had a comfortable stay. The countryside around Jane's holiday cottage is beautiful, and extremely quiet. We had a lovely few days, and found the cottage to be very comfortable, well equipped, and with plenty of information regarding local walks/sights etc. I would definitely recommend a stay here, if you are wanting to relax, and enjoy the outdoors. We will come back again, for sure.

I've been running three holiday cottages for 22 years in this very beautiful part of Scotland so have welcomed hundreds of visitors over the years. I'm a basketmaker and beekeeper, have a veg and willow plot and a few chickens. This is the real rural idyll and we look forward to welcoming you to share it.
