The space
This guest suite was a real labor of love. It was designed for my parents so they could spend more time with us and our growing family in Burlington.

The inspiration for this space actually came from the latest James Bond movie. Bond is "retired" and living in Jamaica. There is a feeling of ease and slowness in his life and his home. I wanted to get that feeling in this space, even if it's in New England and not the tropics. I kept a picture of his place on the background of my computer and just let it sink in subconsciously.

You'll first enter into the living room. Low slung furniture, natural light, and a fair amount of house plants keep it feeling open and airy. The couch is our famous (in my mind) Dream Sofa. It's made of two twin beds, body pillows, a lowered wood frame, and is incredible for lounging and sleeping. The Roku TV comes with Disney+, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, all the goods. You may notice some photos around the house and you may think "look at these stylish models in these professional photos.. so classy, so chic". These are my folks in the 70s and 80s.

Across from the sofa you'll find the turntable. In the cabinet below are a dozen or so hand-picked records. Some are my parent's favorites and some are mine. It's an eclectic collection.

Next to the sofa is a small desk and comfy chair. This space can be used as a remote workspace, to house your electronics, or to stare at the wall art my dad called "weird".

The kitchen has been stocked with everything you could possibly need (or close to it). The list is long but here are some highlights: 3 different coffee makers and organic coffee, a blender, pots and pans, cook books, organic tea, and a bottle of wine! There is a breakfast bar to eat at, with a nice view of my dad and his GTO. And also a dining table with benches and chairs. The table was custom made for this space by yours truly!

Down the hall you'll find the bathroom with double vanity, washer/dryer, shower and deep tub. You'll also see a coatrack for towels! And for the adventurous (or European) we have a bidet attached to the toilet. You don't have to use it, but if you do, your life will forever be changed. You'll wonder how you lived so long without one.. like a wild animal.

Next up is the larger of the two bedrooms. This room is meant to feel like a light white cloud. It's paired back but with a bit of color from plants and art. An award winning king size mattress sits on top of a wooden frame that's been custom lowered to the perfect height. A large mirror leans against the wall and an even larger closet can be found opposite the bed.

The second bedroom is long and narrow. "Funny shape for a bedroom" we thought, but then I styled it, and now it's quite possibly the perfect shape for a bedroom. Queen size mattress on another lowered frame. The two bedside tables are actually plant stands! On the opposite end of the room is another leaning mirror and a rattan wardrobe.

Now the fun bit.. through the shared (with my awesome family) mudroom you'll be lead outside to the courtyard. While you stay here, the courtyard is all yours! No sharing. Our photographer said it felt like a tropical resort crossed with a nordic spa. Love it. The ugly, in my opinion, vinyl was painstakingly covered by beautiful wooden slats. Various plants including hardy kiwis, raspberry, and wisteria can be found climbing the walls. There's a relaxing lounge area with a stylish umbrella. A modern white dining table under a sail shade and string lights (with a remote!). A grill. And of course, a salt water hot tub. Seating for 6 people and their drinks.

When you're done lounging in the courtyard and want to move your body, head through the mudroom into the garage. One side of the 2 car garage is set up just for you. You'll know which side is yours because it's the perfectly clean and organized side. Along the wall you'll find an assortment of goodies, the best of which are 2 inflatable paddle boards and 4 bicycles. Bicycles come with adjustable helmets (even kid's ones), locks, rear racks, and some kids carriers. There are also beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, pickle ball rackets, kid's beach toys, and more.

At the end of our street is the Burlington Greenway. It's a paved rec path that can take you north to several beaches or south to... several beaches. The closest beach is a 1 min bike ride north. 5 min walk. Taking the path south for 15 mins will bring you right downtown to all of Burlington's finest establishments!

**Things to note:

We have 2 black cats that can be seen around our property. They're very friendly and may approach you from time to time. Feel free to pet them or shoo them away. We also have an orange dog. His "meet and greet" needs work so he stays in our house or in the fenced in area in our side yard. *
**With that in mind, please message or text us first before knocking on the door if you need anything. It'll save us from having a heart attack when he starts barking.

My family and I live on the other side of the house. There's a garage and mudroom separating the sides so its more like 2 houses. You'll probably see us coming and going. We're laid back (except our 4 year old son) and like to have a good time. We like to paddle and garden and bike and grill and have some drinks (not my partner she's pregnant!) If you see us around feel free to say hi, ask us questions, chat, or completely ignore us. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy your stay! Cheers!

I live in Burlington with my partner and our son (and another on the way). They're legends! We enjoy cycling, stand up paddling, lounging at the beach, lounging on the couch... You get it. We like to have fun and we like to relax. We really appreciate good food and good drinks. Champagne with pizza? Yes.

But enough about "us". What about me? I really like design. I like interior design, landscape design, well designed clothes, architecture, well designed paddle boards. I like when people design their lives really well. (4 Hour Workweek anyone?) I like a well designed kettlebell too.

I spend most days with my family. Paddling on the lake, cooking good meals, trying to drink enough water (failing, always failing), dinner parties with friends, workouts, coffee and jazz in the morning, etc etc. Just your typical guy trying to make the most out of life.

I hope you really enjoy the space I've created for you.
