I had an excellent stay at Maria Carmen's place: tita Menchu is an extremely thoughtful and generous host. She shared with me a lot of information about cultural life in the capitale and Philippine culture : she brought me to a screening, she lent me books and movies related to my areas of interest, etc. The helpers, Vangy and Jovy, are very caring too and prepare memorable breakfast. Highly recommended! Maraming salamat, tita Menchu!

Maraming salamat, Thery. We enjoyed having you, and I'm happy that I was of some help in your research. Your kind words are especially appreciated, knowing that you are an Air BnB Super Host yourself. Ingat din and best of luck with your dissertation.

After just a few days, Menchu's place felt like home. Great, supportive host with a rich knowledge of Filipino history and culture. Very nice house in a quiet area with a mixture of community and privacy, and well located to boot. Will stay there again.

Maraming salamat, Jonathan. I really enjoy our breakfast conversations and appreciate it that your book will shed light on a part of Philippine history which has been obscured.

Great breakfast - 4 eggs, daing, rice, chorizo and puto/kutsinta. Because we were very full, we took our lunch around 4pm. Love the place. It is conducive for relaxing, sleeping and de-stressing. Thanks Menchu, Alice and Jovy for letting us spend a night there.

Tita Menchu is a fantastic host, very knowledgeable about the arts scene and has some great (less-touristy) suggestions of things to do. She's very accommodating and understanding and I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Also, breakfast was delicious! Thank you so much! The room was exactly as advertised - quiet, clean, artsy, with a spacious bathroom and comfortable airconditioning. Am very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

Maria was a wonderful host, super helpful, dishes out great travel information and serves up fantastic breakfasts to kickstart any day. The room is as per the pictures; it is like a tiny home with all amenities ready for use. A lovely home away from home (:
