This is the perfect place if you are looking for a unique location with a great view. The view from the terasse is stunning. You are in the middle of beautiful nature and you can discover nice beaches , not too touristic. The appartment is equipped with everything you need and the host is very welcoming. Totally recommend! !

Very nice, clean studio with a lovely terrace and stunning views out over the bay. There is also use of a great built-in barbecue and a communal terrace above the studio with even better views. The route up from the nearest town (San Giorgio) is very narrow with lots of hairpin bends and takes about 10-15 minutes, but - as long as that isn't a problem for you - the view is well worth it once you get there. We were obviously unfortunate in that it was a very hot, still Friday and Saturday night in August when we stayed and - unusually, it seems - there was loud music coming up from the town which meant that we needed to sleep with the windows and door closed to cut out the noise, so we noticed the lack of air-conditioning. That said - judging by what Mario and previous reviewers have said - I guess we were just very unlucky and I'm sure it is a haven of peace for the other 363 days of the year!

Response from Mario:
Dear Rick, I just want to clarify to other readers that you got the hottest days of this summer. In those two days the temperature raised up to 40-42°C in Gioiosa Marea, which is exceptionally high: in my house the evening temperature is tipically 5°C lower than in Gioiosa Marea, but the african wind blowing in those days was simply too hot. Period. And this could explain also why you could hear so loud the music coming from San Giorgio, which is 1.5 km far away: there was no fresh breeze from the mountains, as it usually happens in the the evening: the air was still, or maybe there was even some hot air slowly moving up from the sea and bringing the noise with it. This, at least, is the explanation I can guess. I would like to see you again as my guest, because I believe one can be so unlucky only once !

Mario and his wife are great hosts! They gave us some important recommedations about what to see and where to eat the best granite etc. The room is very cosy and the view is awesome. You have everything you will need for your stay. And you don't need an aircondition at Marios' place! La Casa di Mario è la pui bella a Gioiosa!

First of all I want to say this is the best Air B&B I have ever stayed at, period. The location, the view, the amenities, the seclusion, the tour guide (Fillipo), everything was spectacular. The house was clean and quite with everything you could possibly need and even included laundry and an outdoor grill/wood burning oven. Everything is made available to the guest and communication is great. It is recommended that you have a car because it is about a 15 min drive to town or the beach but I did enjoy driving the Sicilian switchbacks. Everyone is incredibly nice, especially Fillipo and his mother. He is one of Mario's friends who showed us around and checked us in and out of the house since the host was out of town. Enthusiastically recommend and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Although Mario had to travel himself but made arrangements with his friend who was super helpful. The apartment is brand new, extremely calm and the view is breathtaking.
