Coet-Stival is where we spend time, when we get tired of overdigital (URL HIDDEN) green, it's humid, it's refreshing, it's lost , it's addictive. Living most of the time in Asia, we long for a peaceful retreat, to re-energize. Coet is the place..
Coet-Stival is a typical 2 storey Longere (a brittany farmhouse), in the heart of Brittany, located at the edge of a huge 55 acres property (forests and pastures) . It comes with a big living room and kitchen on the ground floor (RDC in france), and 3 bedrooms+ 2 bathrooms on the second floor (first floor for french).
The kitchen is fully equipped with gaz owen, gaz stove, microwave, dish washer, washing machine, dryer, steam iron and ironboard, simple coffee machine, electric kettle, and all the cuttlery needed to fully host 8 people.
The bottom of our fridge is a freezer.
The table is 180x90 and fits 8 people .
The fire place is fitted with a cast iron stove and stock of dry wood is available in a shack, near the carpark.
The living room comes with 2 armchairs , 1 coffee table, and 2 sofas : a fix 2.5 seaters in natural fibers (abaca) and a convertible fabric 2 seater sofa that transforms into a bed 140x190.
We have a flat 40" TV with sattellite channel (english and european), and an old PS2.
Our wifi is excellent, and the wireless reception is good in all the parts of the house. However the maximum download speed is 2mb/2. While it is enough for a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) conversation and emails, it is too slow to streamline movies.
All the bedrooms are on the second floor, and are equipped with a full bed, 140x190. We do not have wardrobes in the rooms, but each bed comes with 6 drawers underneath and there is ample space to put clothes.
Our place is very good to get away from the hassles of cities : before we set our internet connection, we were in an internet desert. Don't worry, if you want to live in a very reclusive way, our livebox can be switched off easily and you can diseappear for a while from (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and blackberry shackles.
The center of Britanny, is remarkable for several matters :
1-the road system is excellent. There are high speed (toll free) roads that can take you easily on the coast of brittany : we are 60 km from Vannes, 100 km from Concarneau, 60 km from cotes d'armor, and if you want to dash to Rennes, it's 120 km away.
2-the countryside is very relaxing : a very good way to visit it is to ride your bike. The roads are very pleasant, and the traffic is very low.
Access : the best is to come by car.
Otherwise, you need to get to Vannes, or Rennes by train (TGV) and get to pontivy by bus.
From Pontivy, we can arrange a pick up at the bus station, to bring you to Coet stival.
There are several airports aroud our place :
Dinard (deserved by Ryan air) is 1.5 hours away
Nantes (deserved by easyjet) is 2 hours away
Our favorite is to arrive in PARIS CDG, to rent a car from there upon our arrival (we use KK services) and drive all the way to Coet stival .
There are several airports around 2 hours away from Coet-Stival : Dinard, Nantes, or Rennes. You have to check the various airlines that deserve these cities, but Dinard is a good entry point for the ones that fly Ryanair.
you have access to 55 acres of land. Everything in the house is at your disposal.
Other things to note
In 2015, there is a unique attraction, at Guerledan lake, 15 mn away from Coet Stival : the artificial lake was created 30 years ago, and in the process, a village was submerged. The lake will be emptied in 2015, and during 6 months, the ghost village will be revealed again. It seems that this will draw important crowds, (4 millions people). Coet is ideally located to visit this site. Far enough from the crowd, but just 15 mn away from the lake. Be careful to book soon enough, as the hotels and B&B will be saturated.
We would suggest our guests to take off their shoes when they come in the house. It's much easier to maintain it clean.
Re. the garbage bags : there is no pick up for them. You need to take them until the nearest bin, in Porhors.
Wood Stove : please note not to use wood longer than 40cm. Do not spray water inside the combustion chamber to kill the fire, to avoid "explosion " and cracks in the inner walls. Thanks to clean the ashes upon your departure.
The washing machine, the dryer, the fridge are under a 5 years garantee from But . Anyl repairs is "free" site.
In case there is something wrong, thanks to give them a call first. In the mean time, email us to let us know what's the problem.
In greeting, and out greeting, are organised by Justine Hunt. She'll welcome you upon your arrival, and will check the place with you at your departure.
We are a French/Taiwanese couple , living in Asia since 1989, and in Singapore since 1994, married to each other for more than 20 years.
We work too much, drink too much coffee (but good one), and I travel too often while Elisa is stationed in Singapore. We became Airbnb addicts, and try now to book as much as possible via Airbnb, when travelling for business or pleasure : you get to know very nice people, and some of the rooms are just much different from an hotel room...
recently, we had to unlist some of our properties as regulations are changing in various countries. We do not agree with them, but we also do not want to be outlaw. So we are jusr left with the old houses :
in 2011 , we started the painfully long renovation of a 150 years old longere in Brittany. It's coming to an end, it's really nicely made, and we will update pictures very soon. The longere (a long house) is divided in two distinct houses. If you want to unplug yourself for a while, just take a digital break and spend 2 weeks in a laid back place, with a huge property....
23rd of March 2015 is one of the saddest day in our life. We are mourning the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew. We will never forget how Singapore has welcome us when we arrived in 1994. Mr LKY has shaped this place and probably has influenced the mindset of the people that live here, in a good manner. Respect to him, RIP LKY.
