The "small house" is situated on a country road surrounded by a deep forest. We loved sitting by the pond (bring Deet) and listening to the birds. The deer peeked in on us but didn't stay. If you desire peace and quiet and want to get away from the News and the noise, this is the place to go.

We loved our stay at the cottage! Before actually seeing the place, I was a bit concerned our family of 6 would feel cramped, but we didn't feel on top of each other. And there was a wall separating the 2 loft bedrooms upstairs. 5 of us slept upstairs and one stayed on one of the couches downstairs. And all 4 kids learned how to row a rowboat! Great place if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation. And the Howard Eaton Reservoir is just a mile north with more great fishing! We brought our own canoe & caught a 27 inch Northern Pike, and my kids caught lots of Largemouth Bass!

The cottage looks small from the outside, but it's very deceiving...very accomodating...enough seats for our family of 7 to eat in on rainy days...enough tables out to have room for great picnics. Neat rooms that section off with slider doors. Cool hammock and row boat the boys LOVED. Also NICE well-equipped kitchen and bathroom! It pretty much had everything we needed and we would recommend it highly.

Quiet, secluded perfect getaway to disconnect. Went with two girlfriends and there was plenty of space for us. The bedrooms are in a loft space so it can be loud but there is a door to separate that part of the cabin from the kitchen and another small living space. There is a musty smell but opening the windows helped/we got used to it. The outdoor space really is the best part. Fairly private (there is a neighbour but we never saw them). A bonfire, pond (too cold and we would've been too chicken to swim with the fishies anyway), large lawn space, picnic tables, hammock and a pizza oven. Really a wonderful place to spend just relaxing and enjoying the birds and the sunshine. Murl was very patient with ALLL my questions - some things could've used some clarity but she was quick to respond to any questions. Check in was easy and flexible. The town is VERY small. We tried one restaurant but I would recommend bringing food and just cooking at the cabin. The kitchen was very well equipped. It definitely has character, lots of vintage furniture and old photos. It could use some updating but I think that's the charm they prefer. Lovely stay!

This place was perfect for our ski weekend with friends! A 5-10 minute drive from the slopes. The place had everything we needed and was clean and ready for our arrival. The fireplace/stove was a nice surprise and there was plenty of firewood. The host was great and very responsive to any questions. Great weekend!

Murl's place was wonderful. It is in a lovely rural location and the house is very comfortable. Being there on a snowy winter weekend we did not take advantage of the lake in the backyard, but enjoyed looking at it! The family enjoyed our weekend every much. We'd recommend Murl's place for any Peek n Peak visit.

I grew up adjacent to our cottage exploring the woods, fishing and swiming in the pond with my brothers. We all still enjoy those things. I live near chautauqua now and my wife and I both work for Maplevale Farms in Flaconer, NY. We have 2 dogs and love the outdoors and boating on chautauqua lake. I am also a professional life coach. I love mountain biking, skiing and paddleboarding.
