A large room with a view at the top of an old Victorian Guest House. Sleeps up to 3. The Bathroom/toilet is shared with others. You prepare your own breakfast from basics provided.Dilapidated but charming. Better prices for more nights or people

The space

The room contains a good Double bed and a single bed, both with new linen and down duvets, a hanging rail, a desk, tea making tray with kettle, and a basin with cold water. The room is light and airy. Wifi, ironing board and iron are available for guests.

Guest access

In the past the Pomme d'Or was a Guest House/Tea Room and retains much of its original character. Guests have to share the bathroom and kitchen with other members of the household. Neither are modernised and guests must expect a level of bohemianism and eccentricity they may or may not find charming ! Guests are welcome to sit in the garden and the stained glass workshops can be available by separate agreement.

Interaction with guests

The Pomme d'Or is my home so I can be available most times, work pressure permitting.

Roger is a perfect host and the room is spotless and central to everything in Bridport.

A friend and I stayed one night here and had the best sleep of our road trip. Not ideal if you're avoiding stairs but the attic rewards you with lovely light and views both east and west. The house had a very good feeling to it and the shared bathroom wasn't a bother at all. Only met Roger briefly upon check-in but he was congenial and welcoming. Would recommend.

Roger is a lovely guy and has a nice quirky house the attic room is lovely and cosy and quite even though there is a pub opposite. The shared bathroom is a little bit inconvenient and not to everyone's taste but was okay for the one night we stayed, there was hair in the bedroom sink which was a little offputing but overall we would return.

Lovely house, very creative and warm. Roger was so welcoming and generous. The room was bigger than it looked in the photos and was light, airy, cosy and beds very comfortable. Had a great time. Also, such a short walk into town but still very quiet. Perfect location. Beach is also close enough to walk to. Very happy and would definitely stay again.

Brilliant place to stay, really individual, welcoming and homely visit. Room was really large, comfy, loads of room, perfect for a family stay with 2 young girls. Bridport & West Bay were a really lovely place to visit, looking forward to hopefully returning one day.

I am an artist, a teacher and a conservationist. I restore historic stained glass windows and run workshops on stained glass and glass painting from workshops in my house. I have lived in Dorset for many years and know all the lanes and walks for miles around. I enjoy living in Bridport because of its friendly and co-operative ethos. I believe people should help and support one another as much as possible. I have two much loved adopted children.
