Built in the 1940s, Cabin 2 has been modestly updated but maintains a rustic, rough-around-the-edges feel. With all the essentials for an extended stay, it is cozy, clean and functional providing a nice, quiet base for relaxing and enjoying the local beauty.

The space

Our simple cabins are quiet, comfortable, and clean. They are a good value for the space and amenities provided. Our 2 bedroom cabins are ideal for 4 or less people. Each cabin has a deck with table, chairs, and barbeque.

Guest access

Local, state, and national parks are within a 5-20 minute drive. The town of Trinidad has several shops, restaurants, grocery store, gas station, playground, hiking, and great views of Trinidad harbor. Because of our rural setting cell phone access is patchy depending on your service provider. On our property Verizon / CDMA phones seem to have good coverage, whereas ATT / GSM phones do not.

Interaction with guests

We interact minimally with our guests as we usually have many other responsibilities. However, we are always open to and enjoy visiting.

Other things to note

PLEASE READ: The bedroom doorways of Cabin #2 are open with curtain closures, and are facing one another, which doesn't give much privacy between the bedrooms. Also, the cabin is located on a larger property that is home to one large residence, many outbuildings, and an RV park. During the summer months the cabin is surrounded by RVs. Despite the proximity of the RVs, the cabin still offers a quiet place as our customers are usually very respectful and quiet. Some of our RV guests have pets, which are required to be on a leash and cleaned up after. During the busy summer months our WIFI is, at best, only adequate for basic internet use, such as email and web surfing. Our WIFI is not ideal for streaming media, and other data heavy uses.
We also have laundry facilities in a separate building for a small fee.

Clean and quiet. The kitchen has all the tools you will need to make your meals. What else would you need? Enjoy your time, we did. Aloha, Marcia & Rocke

The cabin was perfect, cute, more spacious than anticipated, well equipped and well laid out. It was great that we were only one mile from town, and we walked a couple of times, even if there was not much of a shoulder on the road. Sean was very helpful and available. There were a lot of people staying there in RVs, but guests were quiet.

This is a great place to stay. The cabin is immaculate. Very well appointed and cared for. The location is minutes away from Trinidad. This is also a great base for bicycle rides in this area. You can head north up the two lane to Patricks Point or jump on the 101 south to McKinleyville and Arcata. Sean is a great host and was very helpful. The price is also right. Great value!

We are a small family owned lodge with cabins and RV sites. We have been blessed to have the business in the family for 50 years. Located near Trinidad, we are a short drive, bike ride, or walk from rivers, beaches, and national and state parks. Our business caters to fisherman in the summer months, and to other vacationers year-round. Sylvan Harbor offers a clean, sunny, and relaxing setting for a base from which to experience all the surrounding natural beauty of the Redwood Coast.
