Suki's mountain retreat is nestled up on Mt. Tam in the redwoods with beautiful views East looking over Mill Valley and out across to the East Bay. It has a private parking space, entrance and patio looking over the rose garden.

The space

Nestled among Mount Tamalpais' majestic old-growth redwoods is a chalet Hansel and Gretel would feel at home in..and a fully equipped apartment with a separate entry and private patio. It has a small kitchen, good for basic cooking. The view stretches across San Francisco Bay to the Oakland hills and beyond. The size of the property, 2.5 acres, ensures peace and quiet. Downtown San Francisco is 25 minutes – and a million miles – away. Mt. Tam's hiking, running and biking trails are at hand. Mill Valley via the Dipsea Steps is an easy 20 minute walk (and a challenging uphill return). The location is very central for tourist destinations, and very secluded and private for those needing rest and relaxation.

The legacy of the original proprietor, photographer and author Suki Hill, who lived in the home since 1972, will be carried on by her daughter, Abigail Hill.
Sadly, Suki passed away June 14, 2014.

The rental is the lower floor of a wonderful, characterful Mill Valley home, built in the late 1930's.There is a sunny patio outside the apartment with spectacular views of San Francisco Bay and overlooking rose and dahlia gardens. A short stroll down driveway leads to another "secret" garden with a small pavilion for quiet reflection or yoga. The home is also close to Muir Woods and the beautiful Hwy.1 coast. One can drive to the wine country in an hour .

Guest access

Guests are welcome to explore the property.
From the house you can access the Pipeline Trail which will take you to Mt Tam where there are endless beautiful hikes. You can also access the Dipsea Steps and trail. The steps are a nice hike into downtown Mill Valley and the trail is a beautiful hike over to Stinson Beach.

A perfect getaway. Nothing fancy but the location is amazing: sunrise in your BR window and outside sitting on a breezy night.

This is one of many wonderful stays in Abby's place - Suki's Mountain Retreat and I cannot recommend it enough. Wonderful. Even found a new travelling companion when I was last here!

Sukey's Place is a charming little gem, full of character and with amazing views, deep in the forest on Mount Tamalpais. It's within easy reach of Muir Woods, surely one of the most beautiful places on earth. Abby kindly met us and showed us how to get in - it was very dark when we arrived so that was much appreciated! Definitely worth checking out, we hope to come back again soon

Abby's amazing home with quirky fixtures, bright flowers and silly dogs was the perfect place to really retreat from life, merge with a good book, explore the woods, have memorable barbecues with new friends and disconnect. It was a cozy clean place with a stunning view, a friendly hostess and enough of a kitchen to make some great meals. It was far enough from town to feel private, close enough to town to make daily yoga classes and errands do-able. We highly recommend it.

Suki's Retreat is perfectly situated for hikable access to Mt. Tam, Muir Woods and Mill Valley. Abby is a very communicative hostess, and she gave us perfect trail recommendations for our family of four. If you seek a unique setting, quiet surroundings and immediate hiking access, you will not be disappointed.

As always, Abby's mountain retreat never disappoints! Abby is always the most gracious and accommodating host, and she goes out of her way to ensure her guests thoroughly enjoy their stay. This was our 2nd time coming and I can promise you it won't be our last!
